cvs extra care program

CVS is expanding their ExtraCare Rewards program to give you even more savings!  All the new features start 2/1.  The new ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards program will offer CVS shoppers more ExtraCare Bucks rewards for pharmacy services.

The big draw is the $5 ECB reward you receive after refilling 10 prescriptions.  Each refill counts as (1) credit in the new program.  Ten credit gets you $5 ECB’s!

Here are all the ways to earn rewards:

Fill a new prescription, 1 credit
Refill a prescription, 1 credit
Fill/refill a 90 day prescription, 3 credits
Get a flu shot or vaccination, 1 credit
Add CVS’ Online Prescription Management, 3 credits
Sign up for CVS text alerts, 1 credit
Sign up for Refill Reminder emails from CVS.com, 1 credit

Getting started:

Many of you already go to CVS weekly, but I’ll start at Step 1 for the newcomers:

Sign up for a CVS online account
Pick up a CVS ExtraCare Card at your store
Sign up for ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards on 2/01 or online now if you already have a prescription number in place

The new program can potentially earn you $50 more ExtraCare Bucks a year!  It is definitely worth signing up, especially if you fill prescriptions already.

Does this mean switching to a new extra care card? It was enough of a hassle switching just a few months ago.

      • amy7492

No, it’s through your current card. Just go to their website and enter each person’s name in your family that have prescriptions at their store and the RX #’s.

    • Julie

I signed up both hubby & myself for the prescription rewards a couple weeks ago just in time for our refills so now only need one more for the easy, free $5 ECB!!! This new reward will be so easy & frequent for us to earn extra!

I have been so unhappy with the Walmart pharmacy near my home and now is the perfect time to switch to CVS. Thanks!

    • jrenee

Weren’t we already earning ECB based on how many Rx’s we had filled there?

      • jrenee

I guess what I’m getting at is how is this better?

    • This “new” program is actually a downgrade from the old one. Previously, I earned 50 cents on each Rx filled, and got the appropriate credit each quarter. Now, I will have to wait until I accumulate $5 of rewards to get the credit. Smart move by CVS. Not good for consumers, though.

I hardly fill prescriptions anymore at CVS because they have such a hard time getting them filled in a timely manner! :( We have found Target is quicker and every 5 prescriptions I get 5% off at the store.

    • rita

CVS use to be a great place and had such a great deals. No more!

    • tori729

Sounds good if I ever got any prescriptions haha! If I ever do happen to get them, I do get them at CVS but it’s very rare.

    • I did this all last year. this is where my whole family gets our medicines. It used to be fill $5 Rx get $5 ECB. I hate that it takes 10 to get the $5 ECB but it’s better than nothing :)

Do the following two statements bother anyone else? I’m not sure I should sign up….

1)I hereby authorize CVS/pharmacy® and its affiliates to share my
prescription and other health service records, including my email
      address

      2) once I sign this authorization, under law, my health information may
potentially be re-disclosed and thus is no longer protected by the
      federal Privacy Rule
