    • Kayla :)

Thanks for the deals!!! My aunt is in charge of this at our church and she does such a great job. It’s a blessing to be able to give to others. I will be making 4 boxes this year :) K.S.

    • Raecharles

Thanks Jenny for supporting OCC.  My kids have done shoeboxes for the last few years and they look forward to it every year.  I normally just go to the dollar store but since I have started couponing I have a stash of toiletry items I can take from.  You are so right.  A bar of soap may not seem like much fun to us but when a child won’t get it anywhere else it is a gift.  Keep up the good work of teaching people that they can be frugal and generous at the same time.

    • JL

Thanks so much for doing this. I have done Operation Christmas Child for years and last year after I started following your site I was able to do several boxes instaed of the one or two before. Just a thought but don’t know if thet will except the transformers toy. I think they might have a weapon on them and OCC has a no gun/weapon policy. Not sure they all weapons. Thanks again. Looking foward to this Holiday season. With the economy down and me not working as much(home more w/son) this is the least I have made in YEARS but this will be the biggest Christmas we have with less money spent and more to give.

      • guest

Unfortunately all those transformers do have guns, so its a no go for OCC. :(

        • Terjas

You could still do this deal and give it to a local organization that collects toys for children

      • Thanks for the heads up on the toy you can tell sometimes that I have girls and just have no clue about boy toys :(

      • Anonymous

I saw some 9.99 transformers that were regular price but were just the toy no guns. so u might want to check it out.

    • Caitwagner

      Jenny, you are awesome!

    • Syates11

Jenny, I would like to do this with some of my students.  I believe I could have items for several boxes donated, but I think I would have a difficult time collecting the $7 per box to pay for the shipping.  Can boxes be donated without the inclusion of the $7?  Please respond to syates11@gmail.com

      • They can, many times there are donations that help to cover extra boxes.  It all works out in the end!

    • Aimee

I’m just about to start shopping for my box. Thanks for the tips!

    • Jessica

I have only been following the site for about a month and it just keeps getting better!  These ideas for OCC are awesome and I love that you are an advocate for it!

    • Jen Jennings

Wow! I love this idea! You are an inspiration!

    • Shawn Rummel

I love to pack these boxes. We pack them with our children. This is my second year to be over this at our church, and the first year that I am doing it as a couponer. Thanks for what you do.

    • Cagneybell

Remind me where the boxes go please?

      • Anonymous

Samaritan’s Purse sends them to various places all over the world…  Check out samaritanspurse(dot)org/occ

    • Jenndennmk

My friend and I recently hit up the Dollar Spot Clearance at Target and clearance deals at Michaels and found some great stuff for OCC! Those items combined with some of my stockpile were enough to almost fill up 9 boxes!!! Just looking for a couple more things to add and they are ready to go. I wouldn’t have been able to do all of those without the couponing and stockpiling mentality that I’ve learned here. Thanks for all you do Jenny!!!

    • Themartins55

Thanks Jenny – my boys school will be preparing boxes for the collection.  Love the idea to include a personal letter – God has blessed us – we need to be HIS light to others!!!

    • Jan_30jan

Where in Walmart do you find the $.97 Ivory and $.94 Colgate? Help

      • Kelly C

I know in my store, the ivory is on the body wash aisle and there’s a  big display that has about 5 items that are $.94 some place near the front (was by the registers recently). HTH

      • Kerry72nc

In the travel size section of the store. In my store it’s in an aisle with the shampoo at the end.

    • Jbtuggle00

Jenny, I started packing boxes after reading your posts last year. Truly, the best thing I got for Christmas was the email saying that my boxes had arrived in Burkina Fassa. It MADE me smile (and cry) the rest of the day. I got my mom involved this year & have been collecing stuff since last year’s Christmas clearance sales! So glad you are posting about this again!!!!

    • Sarah

Also, thinking ahead for NEXT year’s boxes….you can find some great clerance finds after the holiday season is done on little Christmas goodies/toys/fillers for your boxes, so keep your eyes peeled and buy ahead!  Thanks for promoting this Jenny – you rock!

    • Dixiez718

Hi Jenny, I am so glad that you use your site as an advertisement for this outstanding Christian organization.  May God continue to bless all that you do!

    • Nicole B.

Thank you SO much for sharing these deals! This will be my first year, as a couponer, donating to Operation Christmas Child so I cannot wait to start collecting goodies for the kids!
If you don’t mind, I’d like to share this information with my friends on my Facebook page, The Girl in the Coupon Scarf. Please let me know if this is okay.
Again, thank you for ALL that you do!!

Can I use a coupon for $10 off $20 and also get the Max perk

    • TN Mom

I’m new to this site & to this donation idea but think that both are great!!  A quick question (forgive my ignorance) – do we supply our own shoe boxes?  I can’t remember the last time I actually got a shoe box that was ‘normal’ size (& not for a kiddo)!  If we have to supply our own boxes, any hints where I can find some w/o having to buy the shoes?  Thanks!!

      • Bmg38

Our church passes out ‘shoeboxes’ which are actually the plastic boxes with lids you can purchase anywhere – about the size of a regular shoebox.  They work great and last longer! hth

      • Restore07

Also Samaritans Purse has their own shoeboxes and you can get those from local Christian Bookstores…preformed, you just fold them…green and red, no need to wrap…

      • Dawn

The plastic shoebox at walmart works great. I have heard that the children will use the plastic containers to carry water. They hold more too :) The churches that sponsor OCC has boxes with the logo, but are small.  Also, put a little stuffed animal in the box something to cuddle. :)

      • TN Mom

        Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!

    • Kerry72nc

I’ve been donating boxes each year and have always included a picture of my dogs in each one with a little note. I had the great opportunity to help volunteer at a local OCC facility and the staff/volunteers said the kids love getting picture and notes in their boxes. Since then I do it and hope it makes their smiles bigger when they get the box.

Great video! I ‘m going to pack shoeboxes first time this year. And I am very excited!!!

    • deb

You might try checking out your local CVS.  Mine has a 75% off seasonal items.  Small footballs, summer toys, school supplies, etc.  I bought several items for my boxes.  Happy hunting!!

Having trouble with the reach toothrush coupon. Do you have to vote/register to get the coupon?

      • Fgavent

I was able to click on the print coupon button to print my coupon directly.  I think the coupon has received its print limit

    • Kimee129

This is an awesome idea.  I am a fosterparent here in SC and I am sure our local children’s shelter would love to receive some of these shoeboxes too.  Last year due to the economy the donations were down.  I know firsthand that getting a new toothbrush, a bar of soap, or a toy to call your own does mean the world to these kids!

    • Jgutierrez

my church do this every year i guess i be joining many of you my first time :)

    • Lindasewcrazy

Does anyone know a secret to getting the Target mobile coupon for transformers?

      • Gingiraffe

You have to sign up for Target moblie coupons.  They send them to your phone as a text.  I can’t remember if you have to sign up from your phone or from their website.  It’s been awhile since I have done it.

        • Trying2save

Do you have to have a smart phone to do that or will a regular phone that recieves text messages will do?

    • Jana

Save those toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss you get from your dentist twice a year when you get your teeth cleaned and put those in your boxes.  They are the perfect size for the shoe box!

    • 1bigsaver

Every year I coordinate a stocking drive for the Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital located in Nashville, TN. We ensure that each hospitalized child receives a stocking Christmas morning from “Santa” who goes around visiting their rooms.  I love that so many people out there are willing to help children and families in need.  I am sure we all know how expensive hospital bills can be.  If anyone would like to help or knows where we could possibly get donations, it would be greatly appreciated.  My personal email is babycakes_shannie@yahoo.com.  Thanks!

      • JL

I will email you soon. I also live in Nashville and have been wnting to do something like this. I already have things to donate.

    • Nancy

We’ve been packing shoeboxes for many years and it reinforces “thinking of others.”  I’ve been to Boone, NC, twice to help inspect the boxes and that was a great experience.  Last year our church had a lady speaker share her testimony about when she grew up in a poor country in Europe and had no shoes, and she prayed for some white shoes.  Samaritan’s Purse came to her village and handed out lots of shoeboxes.  She was reluctant to take one at first, thinking she would have to pay something.  They convinced her that it was a gift from Jesus, so she accepted a box.  She opened it to find a pair of shoes — white shoes — in her size!  Needless to say, we were in tears when we heard her touching story.

      • jasmine2012

This is amazing how God answers prayers!

      • pamalabam

I saw a video with this story and it prompted me to buy shoes this time.  They were summer shoes and really marked down. I do try to get decent stuff as my boys received a charity gift (many years ago) So much of it was shoddy that is was a pile of broken parts in about a day…what a waste and a hearbreaker for the kids.

Just so you know–older and teen boys almost always get the fewest gifts/sponsors no matter what charity is sponsoring a drive.

      • Jana G

Thats an amazing story! I love it! I hope my box makes some child very happy!  I also never thought about shoes… what a a great idea!

How does the Max Rewards program work?

      • laBreeze

Go to Office Max website and read the info on Max Rewards.

    • I have been packing boxes since we sent ours last year. I started with two and had to go up to four! They are already completely full!!! I have spent under $4 filling them all thanks to coupons and sales :)

    • Anonymous

I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to put toothpaste (or any other liquid-type thing) in the shoeboxes.

      • Anonymous

Yes, you can put toothpaste. But liquid items – no.

        • my best friend’s mom makes $77 an hour on the computer. She has been out of job for 9 months but last month her check was $7487 just working on the computer for a few hours. Read about it here CashLazy.cÓm

          • JL

This is a scam. If you did not know this beware if you are promoting this knowing you should be ashamed of yourself.

    • Frugal

We love to stock our Operation Shoe box with duplicate happy meal toys and left over party favors our children receive through the year.

    • Clark7371

I went to Michael’s today. They had tons of little goodies on the clearance rack for .30 and .60 that are perfect for shoeboxes!

    • Anonymous

I have a question. Does these shoeboxes stay here in the states or do they get shipped over seas?

      • laBreeze

        Both the states and overseas.

    • Susieqp51@gmail.com

Where do I get theses boxes to fill?

      • Vickieaa123@yahoo.com

u can use any shoe box just wrap top then wrap the bottom. Yhat way the top still comes off.

    • Jenni

      Jenny,

Pls do not get items that need batteries, most of the recipients cannot buy or have access to new ones. Also no leftover goodie bag items or fast food toys. You will notice w/ your own kids those do not last. Include some clothing and at least one quality toy. It is great to save money but pls follow the suggestions that Samaritan purse lists.

Thanks for this posting. I watched the video when it was first posted,  but just found out today my son has to pack a box for a class project. I watched it again today and had remembered about the sunglasses, but forgot about writing a letter or drawing a picture. Now I’m kind of in a rush to get items for the box, so I’m glad for all the suggestions here. Without them I would probably just have picked up a bunch of stuff from the Dollar Tree. I will try to do better than that because as a mom of young ones I know the value of quality toys and games.
