If you have younger kids (or anyone who loves a puzzle) try I Spy ornaments.

You fill a clear non-breakable ornament with a few specific objects and fill the rest with beads.  Keep a list on hand of the items in the ornament for your kids to find while you’re all sitting around the Christmas tree.
