Anyone besides me shopped there in the past week? Apparently corporate sent pages of data for the employees to look thru before taking your coupons “because of all the coupon fraud”. It took over 10 minutes (while the line backed up behind me) while the cashier looked thru document after document to determine if my TWO coupons were legitimate. Then she had to call out the assistant manager to have her approve my TWO coupons. This was in Sumter at the store on 15 North (north main ext) What if I had several different coupons (my 2 were for the same item)? I HATE to have my TIME wasted!  The coupons were .75 each-$1.50 total for 10 minutes of my time!  I won’t be using my coupons there anymore.

I’ve had a lot of problems at a lot of different stores. I’m really getting tired of being harrassed for working hard clipping, sorting and matching coupons. These are legitimate coupons used honestly and fairly as intended by the manufacturer and store. We are not trying to steal and I’m tired of being treated like a crook. I think it’s time to start denying our business to stores that don’t appreciate it. Good for you!

        • Momto2

Very well said! I am new to couponing and did not visit some of these stores earlier. My credit card is a good proof that I have given them good business since. If they act odd/funny/ weird I do not need them just as I did not need them earlier. Recently I have learnt to become selective and have stopped shopping at some of the stores/chains which give me a hard time.Couponing needs a lot of preparation and work, I can well do without all that ‘un-courteous’ approach.

        • krazycoupongirl

In all fairness, the stores are just trying to protect their interests also.  It is because of some couponers that have been knowingly &/or unknowingly using coupons incorrectly, that the stores are losing money.  It’s the bad apples spoiling the good apples, that’s all.

      • Galveston 2000

why give them your business?  I have had trouble when I shop there-why i no longer go there-unless it is free

      • Melissa

My DG won’t accept internet coupons…=(

        • Sonjaml_1999

Dollar General is a corporate company. All DG’s have the same coupon policy.  If they’re not taking your internet coupons, then it’s a lack of knowledge of that store’s employees.

Oop doesn’t match up with what I am figuring with the coupons that are available.

      • 1bigsaver

How does it not?  Hershey kisses are $2.50.  The $1 off coupon would make it $1.50, like she said.  The cake mix is $1.25 and the frosting is $1.70.  If you use the .75 off cake mix AND frosting coupon, it is $2.20 oop for both (1.25 + 1.70 = 2.95 – 0.75 = 2.20), or $1.10 each like Jenny states.

        • Guest

The coupon shows $1/2 on the hershey’s, if it were $1/1 then it would be correct, but it does seem to be correct on the Betty Crocker SuperMoist.

I had issues with the Nivea lip care coupon a few weeks ago, and I had issues with the Breathe Right strips coupon today. I won’t even attempt to use coupons there again, no matter how great the deal.

      • Meshell

My Nivea lip care coupons wouldn’t work either. I believe it has something with the changeover on the codes on newer coupons, and the fact that DG’s systems aren’t exactly on the cutting edge of technology. The cashier that day tried to enter them in manually, but the register kept trying to take off only $2. I am still carrying around those coupons :-) It’s a shame too, because the Sunday they came out, DG had the double packs on sale for for $2.00 each.

        • Tlwoodbury

If they can’t get with the program,  let them keep their “deals” on their shelves.

        • Metoostore

I asked one of the cashier at DG and they do not accept the NEW barcoding system only the old standard. I wasn’t able to use some cosmetic coupons because of this

I used today my Nivea lip care coupons in CVS which they have them buy 1 get the other for 50% off .The full price for 1 is $3.29. So the total for 4 came up to $ 5.02 and I handed her a $ 5 Extra Care Bucks ..so I spend 2 cents out of pocket!! We couponers are just trying to save some money, not steal some ok Dollar General!

      • Mathisi

rite aid has a good deal. buy 3 nivea lip care for $6. if you buy 6 use (3) 3/2 comes to $.50 each. good deal!

    • Sbrown1137

Having 20+ years experience in the grocery and retail field, I can tell you one of the main problems that I am seeing with coupons. It’s not the coupons! It is the fact that the cashiers in the retail stores are not being trained to properly keep the scanner area of the register, and wand attachment cleaned. I too have had several occassions in the past 2 weeks where the cashier said she couldn’t take my coupons that were printed from the internet, because they would not scan. I saw that their scanner face was dirty, which will stop a coupon from scanning in an instant. I took my concern to the service desk, or manager and had them to scan it for themselves. THEN the coupon scanned on the register they were at, and I was refunded the money. That being said, we need to make our voices known to the retailer management that we are having problems with. I even had one cashier that never tried to scan the coupon at the scanner, she just tried to scan it using the wand. We are doing nothing wrong. We are honestly just trying to save money, and being smart about it. So, let your voices beheard by the companies..

    • Kimberly

I have only used coupons at DG twice, it took some extra doing but not the nightmare of trying to do double coupons at K-Mart, an experience I am STILL recovering from :)….this past Thursday I saw boxes of Chex cereal on the clearance rack for .75, I went to the cashier and asked if I would be able to use coupons on them…she did have to go consult the manager but it was approved (after they looked at my coupon LOL) so I got ten boxes of cereal for .25 each, not bad at all! I will have to go there more often and check to see if there are any deals I can get.

    • Ritetyme

Does anyone know the price of the Fixodent?  I went to DG earlier this year – my one visit – when the Fixodent coupon was $3 (Easter time I think) – they allowed the overage so I’m hoping to do the same these last few days of the month with my December Fixodent $3 coupon.  You can use these tablets to clean retainers, toilets, slow drains, jewerly…

      • Cheath4

I just got mine today, they are $2.75 at local DG.

    • MaconGA

After reading so many negative comments about DG…I just take the DG circular, go to Walmart and have them do a price match.  Most of the time WM doesn’t even ask to see the circular…they just ask for the price.

    • Big_momma28

This has nothing to do with the ad, but does anybody know there rules on returns for electronics? I spent $14 on a cord and they will not let me return it and I have the reciept that goes with it. Help me out peeps. Thanks!

    • Jamitim

I just wanted to take a moment to thank whoever is leaving coupons taped on items in pelzer sc. I am going through a move at the time so my world is a mess our new home is not ready so my family of 5 is staying with my parents, I have had no time to do coupons lately and I hate shopping without them. So when I went in DG and found a 4.00 off coupon on excedrin it made me smile to myself that someone had helped me save some money. So thanks alot and thanks to southern savers for helping everyone save money.
