I’ve had a few emails today from folks finding some great clearance deals around town on summer gear.  This is a great time to stock up on things for next year, but also to get little items that could go in Operation Christmas Child boxes!

Here’s a run down of a few deals to watch for, remember though clearance deals can be different at each store.

CVS

Home Depot

Charmin Toilet Paper, 4 rolls, 76¢
-.25/1 off Charmin PG 8/28
(makes it 51¢)

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (near the register), $1

(makes it 50¢)

Walgreens

Vicks cold products, both liquid and pills, $1.55-$1.75 (found in the clearance section)

(makes it $11.35)

Have you found any other awesome clearance deals this week?

    • Jes R

    • robin

Thank you for the idea to stock up on Operation Christmas Child things.

Another idea :  my children are grown; so when I go to a fast food place, I get a kid’s meal and keep the toys for OCC boxes.

      • Mollieirene

I love doing the shoes boxes….samaritan’s purse….my kids love it too, and it helps them understand the concept of a child who lives in abject poverty.

    • Mollieirene

Hey I just left CVS and I got the Huggies full size plastic tubs of shea butter wipes for .79 cents a box……I got 3. Good price espically if you have a huggies coupon!

      • Anonymous

I love and I mean love making goody bags as gifts. This couponing thing is so much fun too. Like you said I can get so much more and make even bigger gifts than I usually do for even less money.

    • Rebecca

we hit it big at Borders today.  I got 13 DVD’s, 1 Blu-ray, 1 card game, and 5 children’s books for $87.  The DVD’s included Disney, 007 collectors edition box sets and lots of great kids movies.  The store in Billings, MT is closing in 6 days and everything is being sold, right down to the fixtures.  Good deals to be had on bookshelves and such.

      • Anonymous

Mine is closing in 10 days, so I’ll be going back there next weekend. Went a few days ago and got 7 books and a candle for 19.95. There were so many other books that I wanted, but I just couldn’t carry them all! The ones I got were all hardcover books, so they were getting to heavy.

At Walgreens a couple of days ago I gound the 8ct crayola dry erase crayons on clearance for .99. I wish they had more than 1 box. My daughter got a dry erase easel for her birthday this spring and loves those crayons.

      • Amy T

They were on clearance at my Target yesterday, so you might check there. I can’t remember how much they were but I remember seeing them. I didn’t know they existed.

    • Heather

One of the Home Depot’s in Jax,Fl had the Charmin this morning. They had 10 cases that they put out at 6am. There were over 80 people in line and only 2 got any. I was not one of the 2 of course. =(

      • Anonymous

They must subscribe to the theory that TP will be cash when government breaks down… those crazy survivalists! =]

      • Caramelclay

Wow…Glad to see another Jax, Fl person on here.

      • The same thing happened to me with the diapers a few weeks back at toys r us. It was ridiculous.

    • would Wal-Mart not match this price on theTP and eraser? I’m not sure if you need an ad.

    • Dixiegirl9115

I dont think they match clearance items.

    • Michaels has sidewalk bins with clearance merchandise at 90% off–toys, books and more 20 cent flip flops.

    • Kelvin701

Went to CVS and still 75% off.  Talked to the manager and she said she got an email from the corporate that it will be only 75% off.  I still think it will go to 90% off eventually after this weekend which will make more sense.

      • Anonymous

Some CVS stores were directed by corporate not to clearance past 75%. After that, the employees trash, repackage, or keep what is left. I know this is true with a few local stores (they stopped at 75% at Christmas and trashed the rest). I wonder why all the stores don’t clearance the same way….hmmm…

    • Battleship at Walmart for $5 – $4 coupon making it $1!!!!!

    • Elizabeth_turner1003

CVS in Saluda SC still 75% too

    • Target has their Shape-Up style tennis shoes on clearance for less than $18.  They are great.  Retail for Target brand are $38 and the Shape ups are over $75.

    • Malissa

K-Mart has summer clearance in Savannah for $5.99.

      • Amy T

I got lots of cute stuff for my kids for next year at our K-Mart, including swimsuits for my daughter for $5.99 each.

    • Sue

Toilet paper at Home Depot?  Is that right?

      • Anonymous

Why not? Its in with all the cleaning supplies and other household needs…

      • In the Garden Dept, ask a garden guy where the clearance rack is. I live in MI and got them yesterday, not as cheap as in the south though, I ended up paying .80 each.

    • Merrijg24

kroger in VA had the 4 pack of seattles best cans of coffee on clearence for $3.89 and i had $2 off coupons, dont remember which sunday paper they were in. good deal though.

    • KatieP

This isn’t a typical Southern Saver’s store, but Sam’s Club has men’s shirts for $4.81, and they had a variety of men’s and women’s wear for $6.81.

    • Lucyh70

I have already bought my kids teachers presents.  Kroger on St Andrews (Cola, SC) has the big coffee cup planters marked down fron $19.99 to $5.99 last week.  I hav e been “eyeballing” them all summer waiting for the to go on sale.  Got 5 (1 for me).  Yesterday found minuature rose bushes at the Kroger in Irmo, SC for $1.49 each-got 4.  So my 2 children’s ( 2 teachers each ) have Christmas gifts that hopefully they can use & like for $7.50 each.  Now I just hav eto keep them alive until Christmas LOL.

      • Anonymous

So jealous! I know exactly the planters you are talking about. I don’t have a Kroger, but I’ve seen them in other stores. I haven’t seen them on clearance anywhere yet. I really want a few of those planters, but I didn’t want to pay the original $20+

      • Bpitts76

Those giant teacups make really cute baby photo props too!

    • Publix had a bunch of different cough drops on clearance.  Worth checking out if you have some coupons for cough drops (I don’t).  You’ll probably walk away with some free.

    • Inthemountains

K-Mart Hendersonville NC, Girls & Boys sandals, girls white dress shoes, girls sequined tennis shoews, 30% off Clearance making them around 5.00 each, some less.  Wal-Mart has several school supplies marked down.  Plastic rulers 10 cents, plain plastic notebooks 25 cents.Mens plain tee shirts or button ups 3.00 each.

    • Tracy

I’ve noticed for a long time that not all Walmarts are created equal.  I routinely see price differences at the several Walmarts in my area.  These are Walmarts all within a 30 mile radius and the prices are not necessarily the same from Walmart to Walmart.

      • Talitha_darling

They won’t match each others prices either. Its the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever dealt with. I tried to buy a bag of oranges that was 2 dollars more than my normal walmart 25 miles away and they said that they were sorry but they don’t match other walmarts prices.

        • Kgator71

The ad on tv says they match everyone the main office may want to hear about this . It could be a false advertising claim. This is so totally stupid

      • Mistym820

Type your comment here.Yes.  Here in North AL we have several and each one will have a great variation in price.  If I go to my closest i get a deal on produce.  Bt if i drive further into town i pay less for dog and cat food???  Also I got a steal on size 24 and 28 months tees for a $1.00 each at the Decatur wmt, but in Moulton they are 2.50 to 3.00 each.  Won’t be buying those.

      • Anonymous

The newer Walmart stores in the nicer parts of town in our city tend to be more expensive.

    • Amy J.

In Savannah yesterday, I went to Children’s Place.  They are having a decent sale but they also had tshirts & tanks on sale for $1.99 each (great to stock up for next year’s sizes!).  I got my daughter a lot of items yesterday (3 necklaces, 1 bracelet, 3 lip glosses, 3 tshirts, 1 tank, 2prs of jeans and a pajama set)!  $124 before sales/discounts/coupon.  After sales/store discounts and using the FB 15% off coupon, i paid about $40.  Saved @ 67%…..plus i got back a coupon  for $20 off a $40 or more purchase to use later this month….just in time for the jackets/coats to arrive and to see what they have on clearance then :-)

    • Tracy

I was at Target (Cleveland, TN) Friday and they have a lot of summer items on clearance (pools, outside toys).  I got bubble blowers for 4.00 and a toddler pool for 9.00 (regularly 30.00).  I know all Targets have different items, ut it is worth checking out.

    • Amy J.

I also went to Justice in Savannah, GA, yesterday and got some amazing deals (considering how expensive Justice can be!).  They have their redline merchandise at an additional 50% off!  I got a hooded pullover and a few tshirts for my daughter for $1.99 each!  I was attempting to use 2 of the $25 JBucks, so my subtotal had to be $100 or more.  Before getting in line at the register, i had stepped aside in a quiet area and figured out my total according to the marked down stickers plus the additional 50% off.  I thought I was all set, but when the cashier rang up the 50% off redline items, most of the items rang up for even less than they should have (Score!) which meant I had to grab a couple more items to make it to the $100 subtotal….awesome!  I’ll have to figure up my savings later as I haven’t gone thru every item to see the original pricing on each item….but the savings were awesome and I got my 6 yr old a LOT of items there.  I also got back a $25 FunCard.  I will post here (I’ll comment beneath this post) later what the total before sales/discounts was then total after sales/discounts and all items purchased :-)

      • Amy J.

Here are my details & totals for Justice yesterday:
        items bought:
        1 short sleeved blouse
        3 graphic T-shirts
        1 one-piece bathing suit
        2 long-sleeved graphic tops
        2 pullover hoodies
        1 pr jeans
        1 long-sleeved denim blouse
        1 graphic tank top
        2 sequin tank tops
        1 4th of July cami
        1 white & silver scarf
        1 15″ dreamy journal pillow
        1 pack of candy
        1 pack of gum

(all totals below are before taxes)
        Total before sales/coupons:  $387.20
        after sales subtotal:  $101.68
        minus coupons ($50 J Bucks)
        Final total: $50.84
        cost per item : about $2.67   :-)

        • Amy J.

forgot to mention, I saved about 86.89%  :-)

      • barbara beall

    • Flip Flips, Garden Shoes, & Fold up Chairs are all 75% off in Middle Tennessee

    • Angelas001

At Target I picked up three clearance pairs of toddlers sandals for less than $12. I would have gotten more if they had the right sizes… Next year I wouldn’t have been able to buy one of those pairs for less than $15. Whoopee!

    • Janet

Not clearance but I got some great kaleidescopes for $1 at the Walmart.  They’re metal and nicely decorated.

    • Debbie

I stopped in CVS 9/01 on my lunch hour and saw a 75% Off Summer Clearance on the door and walked out with some nice bargains.  I bought 2 – 38 Qt. Igloo Brand Wheelie Coolers (8.50 each), 1 – 1 Gallon Igloo Contour Beverage Cooler (3.25), 3 Beach Towels (3.75 each), 2 Water Bottles (1.99 and 5.99), and 1 – RIO DVD (24.99-10.00 ECB = 14.99).  I also got a beach toy wagon filled with beach toys for my new grandson who at 7 months already loves the beach and it will be perfect for him to play with next summer. They deducted $5 for $5/$30 that I sent to my card and forgot about. My total was $56.68 tax included.  I saved $126.93.  Could have probably saved more, but didn’t have any of my ECB’s with me.  I took the $5.99 water bottle back b/c it rang up regular price and they said it was not included in clearance markdowns.  I was thrilled with the savings and my husband was happy too b/c we needed a new cooler.  The other one is going to be a gift for my son.

    • Monkzardo

My Old Navy (East Towne Mall in Knoxville, TN) had the baby clothes on clearance marked another 50% off yesterday.  I scored 14 items for $16.00 for next summer.

    • Momnwife

flip flops were $1.49 (50 percent off) at my cvs in central fl.

    • pennypinchingmom

Our Kroger had the Pampers Prints for 6.49 a box.. Unfortunately they only had 3 boxes left but I scooped them up and ended up getting them for 4 something a box w/ coupons and got free wipes!!
