Some of you have seen recent videos and asked if something is up…

Come early May we will have another girl!  For an only child I’ve been out of my element since our twins born almost 10 years ago, but I love watching my girls grow up together.

I confess that part of me didn’t want to share because when you have more then 3 children you learn that the world doesn’t always have the same view of kids as you do.  I have a feeling some of you are in that boat.  Just know this… having 5 girls is a blessing to us, my hands are very full but I can’t imagine them empty, while we may want a boy we are content with the gifts we are given, we do know what causes kids, and yes she’ll probably have red hair.   I think that should answer everything.

If you know anyone that is expecting I would encourage you to get them to start stocking up on the most expensive part… diapers!  The minute the pregnancy test is blue start grabbing the deals.  I did a post a few years (when we were expecting our now 2 year old) that laid out exactly how many to buy in each size group plus a bunch of other tips.  Head over and read up and start shopping!  There are great deals this week and next week at CVS on Pampers and Huggies to help you get started.

    • Jill

Congrats and keep trying for that boy!

    • Michelle

      Congratulations.

    • yiiiiippee

      Congratulations:)

    • Alexandra

Ahhhh!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so happy for you!!! We’re currently expecting our second. Still a couple more weeks until we find out pink or blue (again) though!

    • jessc5

Congratulations! I have 5 (2 boys, 3 girls) and I remember those stupid comments all too well! I’m very excited for you and wish you the best!

    • RIta

Congratulations! I chose not to have any kids but I think as long as you can support them, it’s no one’s business how many you have. I’ll bet you guys are great parents!

    • Roger Pyle

      Congrats!

    • JSH4

Congratulations! We recently had our 5th and I must say that they are pretty special :) Thank you for helping our family save money so we can afford these wonderful blessings… And their diapers

    • crystalgoodwin3

Congratulations. Children are truly a blessing from God. And just for the record, it’s no one’s business how many children you have. Just look at the Duggars. What a blessing all those wonderul 19 children are.
I was blessed with a daughter and then a son. When my daughter was 16 and my son 10 1/2, I was blessed again with a daughter. I can’t imagine what life would be like without her. Now, my 2 oldest are grown and have been on their own a long time. My youngest is a freshman in High School this year. She’s an A+++ student and enjoying horseback riding. She started showing in the Hunter/Jumper series 2 years ago. Life sure has many turns in the road. I’ve never been on a horse in my life but I sure have learned alot about them in the last 3 years.
May God Bless you and your family!

    • stact

Congratulations! I have 4 beautiful redheads (3 girls & 1 boy) I remember all the comments starting from my 2nd child on about having a boy. God gives you what you need. All are sweet gifts.

    • Marianne

Congrats! I was only able to crank out three but would have loved to have had more!! Children are wonderful!

    • Nichole

Congrats! Children are a blessing from God! I have six siblings, and I have great memories of growing up in a large family! People thought my mom was crazy but she just ignored them!

    • Erin

Congratulations! No matter pink or blue a happy healthy baby is always a blessing!

    • LeAnne

I’m pregnant with my fourth (at age 42!) and haven’t shared the news with many people yet. My husband and I are excited, but I dread the comments about “maybe this will be our girl!” This baby was a complete surprise and, though I’d love to have a daughter, I just want him/her to be healthy. Congratulations to you on your blessing!

    • Alyson

      Congratulations Jenny!!!!!!

    • Ronileigh

      Absolutely wonderful! Congrats!!!

    • av8hermommy

Congratulations! I grew up in an area that considered a “big family” to be more than 9 children. Some we knew had 12, 13, even 18 children (no we weren’t catholic or mormon-typical question).

Children are a blessing from the Lord

    • rita

Congrats! We have 5 girls as well, the only difference is my oldest (now 43) and youngest ( now 18) are 25 years apart! But you’re right, they are all a great blessing! Enjoy!

    • Robin

Enjoy your blessings, and don’t EVER give anyone elses opinions about your own children a second thought. The world needs more children who are raised by loving, generous, responsible parents so that we can have a future world full of loving, generous, responsible adults. Congratulations, and thank you for all of your hard work helping us save on our shopping.

We are now members of a very exclusive club that has amazing benefits! (Although somewhat expensive membership fees!). Welcome to the club!!!

    • Kelliea

Congratulations Jenny and family! I think a lot of kids are a huge blessing. Happy for you!

    • Shawna

Congratulations! My hubby and I had our 4th a year ago and after 3 girls, we were finally blessed with a boy. A rambunctious, into-everything, terrible-two’s-at-one, little boy. We wouldn’t change anything for the world. I really hate when people ask “You do know what causes kids, right”… I saw that reference in your post, so I see you have to LOL. These little munchkins are a HUGE blessing, and I love every minute of it. Congrats again!

    • Katie

Congratulations! I am so so excited for you! We have 5 kiddos and are in the process of adding to our family through adoption. Children are a blessing and truly a miracle from the Lord. Psalm 139:15-16

Awesome !! I have 5 little blessings never thought I would have that many !! My husband is an only child so he loves it !!!

I always keep my head up when people comment about so many kids just learn to laugh at what they say and hug your kids more !!! God never ever makes a mistake

    • Susan Moore

      Congratulations!

    • Marie

Yeah! Thankful for you and blessings on your new baby girl!

    • Maria

Omg. Congrats. I fell the same way. We are due end of May. I was very hesitate to share the news but after a few days of debate within myself, I did. We are expecting kid #5, (already have 2 teenage boys from my previous marriage, oldest is 17, and two girls with my husband now. Ages 7 and 2). We are expecting another Boy, my husbands first boy. So for that, we are super excited!!! I had to realize that I honestly don’t care what people think. I love all my kids. They are unique, crazy, fun, loving individuals that have made my life complete.

    • Lonnie

Jenny, I’m a frequent and long time reader, but hardly ever comment. Reading your post above about not wanting to share information given other’s views saddened me so much I just had to write a response.

We only have 2 in our family (both boys, aged 4 and 1) but believe that whatever family size parents determine is the right number for them; and that decision is entirely personal and should be supported by the greater community-at-large. Just wanted to say that I am SO HAPPY for you and send you some love from a “smaller” family. Hope you are feeling well and thank you so much for the wonderful blog!

    • yazpistachio

I’m so glad for you guys! We totally thought we were having a girl for the last half of the pregnancy. Apparently ultrasounds are not an exact science! Our little BLUE bundle was born March of this past year. At first I was dismayed after mentally preparing for a girl for so long– it almost felt like someone had taken her from us. But the feeling was short lived. I can’t remember life without my buddy.

God has a sense of humor– who knows?

    • Marie

SO happy for you, I am mom of 6, all but 1 has left the nest and I miss them terribly.

    • Susan

Congratulations! A baby is a blessing, whether it’s your first or your fifth!

    • Stella

      Congratulations, Jenny! What wonderful news!!

    • Sarah

Congratulations! Our fifth child is due in May as well. This will be out fourth boy in a row! I understand 100% having full but happy hands. All of my kids are under 5. ???? God bless you and your family!

    • jazel1129

Congratulations! Wonderful news. I am so happy for you.

    • djgirl

Congratulations on your 5th little blessing from the Lord! Also, thanks for all your wonderful information. It saves many people a lot of money. God bless you!

    • Kara

Lol, I’m glad that I’m not the only one that gets those kinds of reactions especially the one about how babies are made! I have 3 boys and am pregnant. We’ll find out in April if the baby is a girl or boy. Either way, I know we’ll never be disappointed with what God blesses us with. Now if I can make sure that my 5 year old feels the same way if the baby is not a girl :).

    • http://www.domestic-ceo.net/ ZJ

Congrats on your new addition. We’re expecting #3 in July. I’m thinking about making a t-shirt that points to my baby bump and says, “Yes – planned. No – not the last.” :-) I love, love, love big families!!

    • SeanMart69

      Congrats!

    • Lori

Congrats! I think it’s great and I’m happy for you. Love your site and have been reading it for years now.

Ps 127:3-5. :) Congratulations! How exciting! My mom grew up in a family of 9 girls, yes, 9! :) I am the oldest of 2 and currently have 2 myself. I would love to have a couple more, we’ll see how God directs. :) Excited to follow your story of girl #5. Thanks for all you do!

    • jenrod1989

WOW congratulations! I am so excited for you!!! After our 2nd we were unable to conceive for a long time. When I did get pregnant everyone had comments as to we were crazy (ok so there was a 10 year gap) then when #4 came along I couldn’t believe the negative comments as well. I mean come on we have 4 not 19 here. Every child is a blessing. If I was younger we would have had more. Now 5 girls That is double WOW. My friend is getting ready to give birth to her EIGHTH girl this month….

    • Theresa

Congratulations! As a fellow mother of 5 girls, I know what a blessing they are. Thanks for all you do to help us save money. You are awesome.

    • Kellie

      congratulations!!!

    • SB

Congratulations on your precious gift from God! I don’t understand the people that are so judgemental about how many children other folks have.. Don’t know why it’s ever anyone else’s business! We hope to have a house full of children :)

    • di

congratulations!!! Enjoy your blessings – they make you happy and that’s what counts!!! I have no kids and especially living in the south feel looked down on in a bad way for that [ the in-laws don’t help either :-( ] … so you are right to never mind what others say for having 5 beauties!! Enjoy!

    • Meme007

Know all the comments. Had a daughter and son within sixteen months. Then a daughter every couple years until we had daughter #5. When our final child was born we were so sure it was another girl, we didn’t catch that we had another son. Our family is so close and the kids never bickered seriously. We are up to twenty six with spouses and grandkids. Oh, eight granddaughters. Three grandsons. Keeping the girls at the front of the line.

    • Danielle

      Congratulations!!

Fantastic news & congrats – thanks for all you do! Don’t worry about those folks who pass judgment…they don’t walk in your shoes! I don’t have kids and there are some who pass judgment on me for making that choice…there will always be those who have an opinion but it is not THEIR life – and their opinions don’t count!

What awesome news! Congratulations to you and the family!

    • Elizabeth4

We have a large family as well! with 4 of the most awesome children ever. I’ve gotten all the comments too and just ignore them. Let me just say with 5 girls, you can totally expect a truckload of grandsons later on! :) We have one son and my husband always says he’ll get at least as many grandsons as he had girls :). We spread ours out too – one will be hitting college as the last one starts elementary school. But 20 years of marriage and 4 kids, life is wonderful and never dull. You are so blessed!

    • Barbara

Congratulations! My husband and I have 5 daughters…3 of which have red hair! (our last two have dark brown and blonde) I have loved raising girls and now that they are older (our youngest is 14) we have such great times together. I always thought I wanted a son, but I wouldn’t trade what I got for the world. :)

    • TVIX

Congratulations! And thank you so much for continuing to put such amazing work and effort into Southern Savers!

    • momof6

Congrats! We also have a large family…6 kids, three boys and three girls! Sadly, no red heads (I always wanted a red head)! So glad I found your site through my sister. You have been a big help to me!

    • emily

      Congrats!!!!

    • Sara

Congratulations! Love those girls! I have 3–one redhead, one brunette, and one strawberry blonde.

    • Tammy

Congrats! We have 2 red headed girls & one blond boy. Babies are a blessing!

    • Kim

Congratulations!!! We have 5 children as well, 4 girls & 1 boy. We heard all those comments as well, but completely agree with you…what a blessing!!!! God is so good!!

    • Kimberly Callozzo

      Congratulations! :)

    • Julianne

Congratulations! Children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord! :)

    • Mamaberry

We heard the same stuff when we had our 4th! No kids: “when are you going to have a baby?” 1 kid: “oh how exciting, are you going to try for a boy?” 2 kids: “nice, sisters to grow up together!” 3 kids: “wow! Three girls you have your hands full!” 4th kid: “oh… another kid huh? that’s… exciting…” Amazing how people are so worried about you taking care of your own kids. Like a 4th, 5th, 6th is all of a sudden going to mean you will start pawning them off on others?

Now? My reply when I’m walking through the store (sometimes with my niece in tow – so 4 girls and one boy) the looks are hysterical! and the comments!!! “Wow! you’ve got your hands full!” I say, “yes I do! But, I couldn’t be more blessed ;) ”

Keep up the good work. And, I think it’s evident by the many many many comments that we all are of the opinion:

WHO CARES WHAT OTHERS THINK! ;) Just love your family! And, I thank you for all you do, Jenny! Congrats :)

    • MariaClipsCoupons

Congratulations, Jenny! I am the youngest of six – all girls – and we are best friends! My parents couldn’t have given us a better gift than that of our family.
