card linked offers

I know it’s a little old school to shop in stores… but don’t you remember the thrill of walking the racks and feeling the fabric in your fingers?  So step away from the computer and relive the old days.

Don’t worry though you can can still save like you would online.  There are deals to be had, and even high tech coupons to use!  The newest form of coupons are ones that you never even have to remember in the store!

You can head over and “load” coupons straight to your credit card.  Then when you use that card in the store you get back the discount straight onto your monthly statement!!  These are offered through Coupons.com, a brand you already know and trust for grocery offers.

To Load the Offers:

  1. Get out a credit card you use for most of your shopping.
  2. Enter the card number into the registration for that offer.

Now go shopping!  You’ll see the credit back onto your card a couple days after your purchase.  You don’t have to remember the offer at all, just make sure to use the right card when you pay and they handle the rest.

If you are concerned about giving the card number, please know that you aren’t giving them enough information to ever charge the card.  The only need the card number, they don’t ask for the expiration date, or even your name.  It’s enough to be able to give you a credit, but no more!

A Few of My Favorite Offers:

$5 back when you purchase $25 at Pet Smart

6% back on any purchase $50 or more at Old Navy

$2 back on any $12 purchase at Quizno’s

6% back on any purchase $50 or more at Gap

Are there other stores? I think this is another great way to saving more money. Thanks Jenny!

And for credit card thieves….I don’t know that this is worth it!!

I have been a member of UPromise for years, and they ask for your credit card numbers to add rebates back to your account. This wouldn’t be any different as far as account security.

most credit cards come with a no pay back for credit card fraud. So even if someone did use your card illegally, you are not responsible. besides using your card anywhere even at stores your number can be stolen. and some have. like target and Michaels.

Does this work for debit cards issued on Visa also?

      • ATAmom

According to the information on coupons.com you can use a debit card, but you must select credit, in order for the discount to be applied.

      • Gabriele01

Yes, but you’ll have to run the card as credit when paying.

How do they know what u bought if it’s not automatic at the register?

I registered directly on my coupons.com account. Because I entered my credit card information, I went in first and changed my password to a more secure one. Then I logged back in, entered my credit card number and added the offers (18) to my account.

Ditch the credit card and us cash. One minute there’s talk of Dave Ramsey’s plan, now we should consider coupons on a credit card. Oh, please. “Live like no one else, so you can live like no one else”

My rule is that my credit card is considered a bill to be PAID IN FULL each month. To me, it’s easier and safer than carrying cash plus I earn points. I keep track of everything I spend so the amount of my monthly bill does not come as a surprise.

I’ve heard people say this a lot, but I don’t agree. We use a credit card for everything, even every day household purchases. I earn cash back on each purchase. It literally is “money in the bank.” The only reason, imo, not to use a cash back credit card is if you aren’t disciplined enough to pay it in full. I pay our card weekly, never charge an item that we couldn’t pay cash for, and enjoy the free money. It really is about knowing your personal limits.

You can sign up to link card on coupons.com under “Card linked offers”. If you have a Visa or MasterCard logo on your DEBIT card, you can use it as such. Instead of entering your PIN, you hit enter and sign for the purchase. Or tell the cashier credit instead of debit. I have been doing this for rewards from my credit union for a while. It still gets debited from your checking account. There are several other stores available, Jenny just didn’t provide links to all of them. Go to coupons.com and check it out. Thanks Jenny!

I understand Dave Ramsey’s advice, but we also have always paid our credit bills each month in full. That way, we earn cash on what we spend. Cash slips through MY fingers WAY too quickly! It is MY personal challenge!

My husband is the coupon King….like the ladies you see on those shows and websites! He’s been doing it since I met him when he was 18, 30 years ago! 13 years ago, when it became necessary for us to have a 15 passenger van, he was able to save enough money using coupons to pay for 1/2 of a one year old van with cash! :)

I have been using this to buy pet food at PetSmart. You can stack manufacturer’s coupons so it makes for some great deals! Oh, and I use my debit card as a credit when I shop there.
