Free Couch to 5K AppI’m always looking for inexpensive ways to add exercise into my routine.  My best success working out has been to have a group of women who meet together to workout and call each other when someone doesn’t show up.

There is an Android App that I’ve heard lots of folks talk about (but have never tried out myself) called Couch to 5K Pro available FREE on the Amazon App store today only!  Normally it’s $1.99 and the idea is that if you follow the training schedule you’ll go from not running to being able to do 3 miles in about 9 weeks.

I’m thinking that having a training schedule mapped out might make it easier to stick with!  Have any of you tried Couch to 5K and had good results?

I love C25K!  It is such a cool app and fun to use!

Funny, I actually downloaded the free one last night.  I decided though that I will have to use the ipod one because I don’t have any music for my android.  For any that do though, it’s a great app – will automatically fade the music so you can hear the prompt when it’s time to do the next phase, etc.

What is the app called for the ipod? I am very interested in running a 5 K by year end.

you can just transfer files to your android from Itunes…it’s pretty easy. I hate carrying around more than 1 device, lol

I actually have the free version of C25K. My new years resolution was to run a 5k and that is the app I used to train for it. April 17th, 2011 I did my first 5k and it was Awesome!

I have heard great things about this, so I will try it.  I need to start running anyway on top of my daily workout.  Android does have a free app everyday.  they just aren’t usually worth it.  hope this one is a keeper.

    • Yes, I have and fell IN LOVE with running.  Program makes it easy to make progress without hurting yourself.  Just remember, YOU CAN REPEAT days or weeks if you need to!  LOVE LOVE LOVE this program!!!

running is great exercise that almost anyone can do and this is a great way to break into it. search hal higdon for free training programs for basic, intermediate, advanced and even distance walking if you need to start slower. he has programs from 5k all the way to triathlons.

I did do “Couch to 5K”. I started at the beginning of the summer. I have never run in my life even when I was a teenager and in great shape. I’m 35 now and got inspired b/c my son runs cross-country. I worked my way through the plan and got stuck at about week 6 so I kept at it. I did run/walk a 5K at the end of my 9 weeks. It was a great feeling. Even though I wasn’t able to run the whole 5K, I did at least run the first mile before having to walk and I felt like I made great strides…..I have taken a break and now I need to get back to the gym….If I had an Android, I’d download this app in a heartbeat….You will feel great about yourself for trying. :)

I’ve done the program about 3 times now.  The first time was before being pregnant and the other two times were between pregnancies to get back in shape after.  The last time I did it, I ended up running a half marathon later that year!  It is an excellent program for any new runner or any runner getting back in the groove of things.  I may need to download this today so I can use the app when I start up again after this pregnancy!

i was going to down load this but it wants my credit card info?  credit card info for a free app?  i don’t understand?

      • Zee

it’s for amazon…I’ve have numerous free apps from them (they do a different one each day) and it has been no problem. If you have an amazon acct already just use it.

I have this app on my iPhone and am into week 3.  So far, so good, it’s getting tougher, and I may have to repeat this week twice before moving on.  It will also play my music downloaded onto my phone while the app is dinging each time you change from a walk to a run and vice versa.  Great motivator!  Thumbs up!

    • Tanandae

I have a C25K app on my iPhone too, but a different maker (mine is by Runhelper), and I love it. I’m sure the concept is similar no matter though. It’s very easy to follow; I’m in week 3 and doing 2.5 miles with a mix of running and walking. Woot.

    • Kayleigh

I started running with C25K in April and loved it!  I am now training for a half marathon and am so happy I decided to give it a shot.

    • Mandy

I actually tried to download this app only to find that at&t does not support amazon’s app store so I can’t download it for free

I love C25K, the key is to never skip a day or repeat a week. You’ll get stuck if you do that. The worst week is when you jump from running 10 min to 20 but your body amazingly adjusts. I used it to start running and did a 5k when I was 12 weeks pregnant and ran until I was 29 weeks. It was so helpful!

    • Heather

C25K is amazing.  End of story.  It changed my life and turned me into a runner, which is something I never thought I would be.  Running is my drug now.
