paper

You guys are always asking for paper and ink deals to help with all the coupons you are printing.  Today I can help with half of that.

Staples is selling off paper reams that are in an old packaging style for $1 per ream after rebate.  You are wanting a ream pictured above, sellling for $6.99 in stores.  You will get a $5.99 rebate back by mail per ream.  There is NO LIMIT on the number of rebates you can claim.  For rebate information go here and search for SKU 554638.

Want to make the deal better?  Find a Staples or Office Depot coupon and use that (they accept competitor coupons).

**Deal Idea**
Buy 8 reams at $6.99 ea
Use: $10 off $50 coupon
Total Due: $45.92 before tax
Get Back: $47.92 in rebates

Use your staples rewards card when you check out and you will get $4.50 in staples rewards to use later.

(Thanks Armie!!)

    • Mommyishome

The link to the rebate isn’t working, and doing a search myself, I couldn’t find it – just rebates for cases of paper. Can you help point me in the right direction?

    • Brenda

Search for staples items under “find a rebate item”, “search by product mfg”. It’s on the 2nd page about 1/2 way down. listed as: Staples 8.5X11 Printing RM

    • Mommyishome

GOT IT!! Thanks so much Brenda!

    • Teri

I just called my Staples and the manager said he hadn’t heard of this and probably WOULD have heard about it….(I didn’t want to drive over there for nothing – I’ll go soon when I am passing by to see.) Maybe my location doesn’t have that particular deal….

    • http://frugallyfarmingfamily.blogspot.com Hannah

Hey! Thanks so much for this deal! I wish I would have know yesterday before I went to Staples. I also have something to add. They recycle your ink cartridges! The cashier told me it is $3 oer cartridge and you receive it through your staples rewards! So, there is a way to get some money for your ink too (the other half of the wanted deals!).

    • Sharlene

My husband just went and got 4 of them. They gave him the form for the rebate. Thanks so much!!!!

    • Jennifer

The sku is 554638 not 28 as listed in the post

    • Stephanie

I found it on the 2nd page half-way done like you described. That rebate seems to be for sku# 554638 (could not find anything about 554628) and is a recycled paper (great!) with a price of $7.99/ream. If I looked at it all correct. Still a good deal if they take competitor coupon.

    • Lynn

Going to Staples right now! I’ll let you know how it went!

    • Teri

Forgive me for speaking too soon in my comment above. I talked to lady at the store and she checked the whole thing out so I went and just came home. The deal works beautifully and I only had to buy 7 to be able to use the coupon. My store had the paper on an end isle away from the paper. The instore ad has all the rebate info on it. I also called the coporate office to ask about a limit, just in case, and he said no limit. Great deal! I didn’t get the $4.50 in staples rewards to use later. Do you know how I can receive that – after the fact? I used my Rewards card.

      • Jenny

You are mailed the rewards checks quarterly from any that you earned that quarter using your rewards card.

    • Rebecca Hall

Teri, I read this on Staples rewards website about getting credit after the fact:

It’s easy to manage your rewards at the Staples Rewards Center.

You can enter a receipt so you’ll earn rewards on purchases you made without your card.

I stopped by my Staples, and they had their paper in a bin located near some isles away from the regular paper. I bought two packs but I came back home and found two $10 off $50 purchase from Office Depot and one $10 off $40 purchase from Staples coupons so I am going back with my coupons!!!! Thanks SOOOOO MUCH for this tip. I was in need of paper :-).

    • leigh

thanks for the tip! i need paper and was not looking foward to having to buy it. you are just in time! thanks for all you do. you are saving us all so much and we appreciate it greatly.

    • Lynn

Ok, just got back from Staples, not only did they take the Office Depot coupon for $10.00, they gave me an additional $1.00 off each ream! So according to my calculations I made $10.00 on the paper and turned in 2 ink cartridges giving me a $6.00 credit on my Rewards Card! Yipppeee!! You rock Jenny!

    • Margrett

Just stopped by the Staples on Devine/Garners Ferry and they are out of that paper. Rats.

    • Edith

Wow !! Thanks for the heads up on this. I RAN out to Staples and bought 6 cases plus what was out on the shelf – 65 reams in all – .85 EACH !!! That saved $399.35 !!!! (with the office depot coupon added in). My husband was excited on saving that much money for the companies we own !! Thank you Thank you Thank you !! I am an avid reader of your site and try to tell everyone I can about it !!

    • Trish

Just got my paper at the Harbison store. I had to look for it–middle of the store on an end cap. There were only about 10 left. Is getting a Staple Rewards card as easy as all the other stores? Think I may need to get one. Thanks, Jenny!

    • Laura

Does anyone know if this applies online? The new Staples near us hasn’t opened yet :(

      • Jenny

It does work online from what I am reading however it is $7.99 each online versus $6.99 in the store.

    • Rebecca

I’m not sure if it will work if you buy it online or not. It states at Staples stores only. Does anyone else take that it means only in stores and no online? Here are the details when I looked the rebate up:

      Product: Staples 8.5X11 Printing RM

Just did this deal with 8 reams and it worked like a charm. They actually had a whole display right when you walked in telling you it was $1 after rebate.
They took my Office Depot coupon with no problem, and offered me the Staples reward thingie that gave me the 10% bonus or whatever it was. Woohoo!
I’m considering doing it a second time but not sure I want to tie up another $50 waiting on the rebate.

    • http://www.simmmonspartyoffive.blogspot.com Devon

Just an FYI – I just went to my Staples in Cleveland, TN. I asked if they take the Office Depot coupons and I was directed to a District Manager and the Store Manager who were there together. They looked at my coupon and said that it is being generated by a coupon site, NOT Office Depot. They used the words, “We’ve caught onto it now.” So, just be careful when you post links for coupons. We want to be sure we are honoring the coupon system legally and helping ourselves as well as the stores we shop in. My store was all out of the paper, too. Thanks for the deal post!

      • Jenny

        Devon,
That is actually a coupon from an email office depot sent me yesterday. You can access it off of their site and it is not hosted on my site, but is the direct link from the email.

    • Laura

I went ahead and placed my order online, as well as filled out the rebate form. Hoping it goes through without any issues. If it works I just made a profit of 7.81! Woot! ;) Thanks Jenny, you rock!

    • Jayne

      Our stores were ALL OUT!!!

    • http://cvs jennifer

DOES ANY OF THE PEOPLE SHOP IN SC AND DID ANYONE FIND ANY IN SOUTH CAROLINA

    • Amy

Jennifer, I found some at the Staples on Folly Road in Charleston and was able to use the coupon as well. All other stores in the Charleston area are sold out.

    • Karen

Laura, did you use a coupon code online?

    • Susan

I found some in Greenvill, SC on Woodruff Rd. No problems! I got 10% off and they took the Office Depot coupon. Thanks for the tip!!!!

    • ShanR

When you read the details of the rebate, it says valid at Staples stores only, so I hope that it goes through for those of you that bought it online. I was going to do that because I have a $25 off of $75 coupon, but that “stores” part scares me. Plus, when I put the SKU in the search, it takes me to a different looking paper with a different SKU number.

    • Tracy

Question?? Do you get a rebate check or a Staples rebate card meaning you can only use the rebate money in Staples?

    • Melissa

Tracy, if it’s the same as the rebates I got for the shredder and the photo editing software I bought before, you get a VISA pre-paid gift card, you can use anywhere that takes VISA and online.

    • http://savingandgiving.blogspot.com Jennifer

I checked, and this one is an actual CHECK, not one of the pre-paid Visas. I prefer the checks since you can use the Visas some places. I can put back the money I use to pay for the purchase, have a little left over, and have 8 reams of paper!

    • Maehing O

I’m th proud owner of 10 reams… the last in Summerville and the N Chas area! Thanks! I needed paper to print all of the great coupons!

    • Amy

My husband went to Staples and successfully bought 8, got the rebate form, joined the rewards club and cashed in the OD $10 coupon. So proud and have a ton of paper. Thank you!

    • Gwenn

Went to Staples last night and bought 8 reams of paper (right up front by the ink). They accepted the coupon no problem. I have a Staples reward card so this is a great deal. I was thinking about our church, this would help out alot with expenses. Also I was thinking about telling many members to go get the paper and then donate it to the church.

    • Katie F.

The cashier at Garners Ferry Staples said it didn’t start there until this coming Sunday for them – not sure why. I will call and ask again, maybe talk to the manager instead. Hope this works!

    • Melinda

I guess I’m an idiot because I cannot find the rebate code that they are asking for in the online rebate form. Does anyone know what the rebate code is? Thanks

    • Melinda

Actually they are asking for the Rebate Offer Number. Where is that? I can’t find it.

    • Katie F.

I went to Columbia Staples (Garner’s Ferry) for the 2nd time after even calling the mgr. to see if they had it. He had said “I don’t have a rebate on that” but he had some of the paper in the back. Went to the store, talked to a nice cashier – they had four boxes left!!! I bought eight packs. So some stores do have it. Go to “rebate center” on their website and enter the SKU # and the rebate offer number should come up!

    • leigh

I finally found this paper after going to three stores yesterday. The second store told me that they were not supposed to be selling the paper but using it in-store instead. My question was if you are not supposed to be selling it then why is there a rebate available on it. Their inventory said that they should have 70 reams and they couldn’t find it anywhere. I guess that was the best they could come up with besides “we have lost 70 reams of paper.” The third store had the paper and sold it to me. They did not take the Office Depot coupons but did give me $10 off Staples coupons to use instead. So I still got 16 reams of paper for free!! The rebate information printed out with my receipt. easy peasy! thanks jenny, you are the best!

    • Jana

Interesting info – staples.com customer service just told me that the stores gladly accept office depot coupons but that the online or phone orders cannot.

    • Shannon N.

My store didn’t have any :-( I was looking forward to this one!! I needed paper!

    • Lisa Neicen

      Jenny,

Are we sure they will let us turn in 1 receipt for more than 1 pkg? We don’t have to buy them seperatly do we?

Also Edith said she bought the reams and I thought I read on Sisterly Savings that the Reams were not included ONLY the individual packages. Can you please clarify this….

      Thanks,
      Lisa

      • Jenny

        Lisa,

You can submit them all from the same receipt. And the ream is an individual package 500 sheets, you can buy it buy the case but have them ring up each ream rather than a case price.

    • Willowbeth

I just did it in Tampa. I had to ask where it was. It was on an endcap in the back of the tore. The cashier had to call the manager to get approval for the coupon but he said NO PROBLEM! We will be donating 4 of these to my kid’s teachers so they do not have to spend their own money on school supplies.
I have done many Staples Easy Rebates before and you can do all of them off one reciept. If you look at your Rebate form that printed out it will show how may you bought and that is how many rebates you get.

While you are there check out the FREE after rebate BIC mechanical pencils in the ad this week. I got some of those too.

    • Theresa

Harbison Blvd store is out. Anyone know where any more is around the Columbia, SC area?

    • http://cvs jennifer

ok i went to staples in greer,sc today at 10:30 i punched in the item sku number up popped the item it was the wrong item for a dollar. so ,i called and talked to a manager and she said that they had been out. i told her the sku said they were the ones i bought according to the stamples on line. i went back and she refunded me 38.16 and charged me 8.46 for all eight of the paper they gave me the wrong paper and let me get it for a dollar each that was so nice of kayla..

    • http://cvs jennifer

also i dont have to send in no rebate!!!!!!

    • Cae

I am in WA and they would not let me use the $10/$50 coupon on 8 reams because it made the price less than the rebate price. What I did though was buy 10 reams used the coupon and after the rebates will get them for free plus I used my rewards card!
I was kinda disappointed but hey! free is still good :0)

    • wendy

Thank you so much!!! I bought 8 reams and pay about 49 dollar after 10 dollar off coupon. Our staple actually has the 10 dollar off 50 dollar perchase coupon in their weekly ads. I might make 2 dollars profit. Plus all the free papers!!!!!

      From houston,TX
      Your fan,Wendy

    • Paula

Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful deal! I did it tonight on 8 reams and used a $10 off of $50 purchase Office Depot coupon and they were very nice about it (I feel funny about using competitor coupons for some reason). Anyway, I couldn’t find it on the shelf (like others have said). When I asked, they knew right what I was talking about and took me to an end cap display in the back of the store, like others have said.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you so much for sharing your amazing deals! Also, thanks for listing Publix deals! BTW, my husband is a store manager for Publix. I always check with him to see if I’m playing by the rules when I use the coupons.

      Thanks again!

    • anita

I always double print on my paper. If I print something off and no longer need it, I put it back at the printer and print on the back of it. You can ask others to do the same for you. It does make a big differents. My mom works at a retail store and she brings home her layoff papers after she set the layout. Lots of paper.

Also if you take the ink cartridge out and put in a air tight container, the ink will last longer. and don’t put the printer in a tight spot with the tower, for the heat off the tower will dry up the ink.

off to staples to hopefully get some free paper.

    • Laura

What a GREAT deal! Our Staples isn’t open yet here so I went online. I got 10 reams @ 7.99/ea, used a $25/75 coupon bringing my total down to 54.90 (FREE SHIPPING!) and I will get 59.99 back in rebates meaning I EARNED $5.09! The paper arrived the very NEXT day! Thank you JENNY!!!!

    • Whitney

Well I’m bummed. I tried to use a $25 off $75 and was told that I cannot use this b/c it’s a promo. But I guess $1 for paper is still good!

    • Nona

I went to my local Staples today and they acted at first like they had never heard of this and pointed me to another brand that was $2/ream after the $1.80 rebate. I spoke to someone else and she checked and came back and said that the promo I was talkig about was last week and this particular paper was $7.99/ream. I have printed the rebate on this and will stop by there again Monday on my way home, paper in hand as proof. Just one question, however, the Stapbles rebate says ‘Send ONLY the completed ORIGINAL rebate redemption form printed from the cash register.’ This means they will not accept the one I printed online from the site? That worries me as I don’t want to buy 7 reams of paper at $7.99 and not get the rebate if the store does not have the register print out. Any advise?

      Thanks!

    • http://www.thethriftymama.com TheThriftyMama

Laura – I did the same thing you did. But the online paper looked different than what Jenny has pictured. I hope it still works. When I put in the SKU number for the rebate on the staples website I got a 50% recycled Staples paper. Seeing as that is where the site took me for that SKU number I guess it will work. >< Staples will have a very unhappy customer and a return if it doesn’t work.

    • http://www.thethriftymama.com TheThriftyMama

The rebate deal can only be done in-store, and not online. I canceled my order, and it looks like I’ll have to track down some of these at my stores.
Laura – you should probably cancel your order unless of course you saw the rebate information in your online receipt. It wasn’t there for me and when I called they confirmed to me that this was only an in-store thing.

    • Tara in Tallahassee

Thanks for the heads-up on the paper deal! We were going through our last ream and now we’re stocked for a couple of years–plus, after rebates and rewards, I’ll make $3! I bought 8 reams at the Staples on Apalachee. The reams were rather prominently displayed at a front end-cap by the paper and print shop section. And, the store manager enthusiastically accepted the Office Depot coupon.

    • Telaina

Has anyone found this deal in the South Atlanta area? I couldn’t find it in the Fayetteville store.

    • Corysmurf

I called my location first to make sure they had it in stock. When they looked up the SKU #, they said they had lots in stock (hundreds of reams). When I got to the store, they had no reams left on the shelf and a passing employee said they were out. He didn’t offer to check in the back until I told him I had confirmed they had it. So, if they tell you they’re out, make them look up the SKU # in their computer.

    • Tonya LeCompte

The Office Depot Coupon expires today.

    • Christa

No paper in Stone Mtn, Ga today, but I did get ink cartridges for my Kodak printers that are located at my Scrapbook Cabins in Ga. I used a Staples $10 off $40, the Office Depot $ 10 off $ 50 (the way the cashier rung it up, it took $ 11.97! off and the mgr was helping her also), so I got a $ 25 combo color/black ink cartridge pack for $ 3 instead of $ 25!!! And I will also get my Staples Rewards back also, so actually that 1 Cartridge was FREE!

      Thanks Jenny!

    • amy m campbell

stopped at staples this morning after calling yesterday to confirm they had this SKU in stock. only found the boxes, no individual reams. took two boxes to cashier and said i wanted to pay for the reams separately. she said “we know all about the $1 paper.” “we were told to pull the reams off the shelf.” she refused to sell me the boxed reams individually. i think i’ll call corporate, as they can’t just take an item off the shelf and not sell it because they have a rebate on it!

    • http://www.lohrer.blogspot.com Lori

I had to call 3 different Staples in order to find it. I was told by one that the sku was on the NEW packaging reems and they didn’t have the $6.99 w/ rebate of $5.99. The whole reason for the rebate is because they switched packaging. I also found out THIS is the paper they use to make copies for folks who come in for copy service. I was able to hunt it down and happily bought 2 cases I had to put them in the case (they were not trying to JUST sell by the case full). They accepted both of my $10.00 Office D. coupons, I had them ring up 2 orders (just to be on the safe side). Then the manager put them in my car for me. Sadly I should have bought more.

    • Laura

      ThriftyMama –

That is sooo sad! My paper has already arrived, though I haven’t used it yet. But I’m just wondering WHY they would allow it to go through if it’s not “allowed”? Hmmmm……I am going to have to call them. That’s so so so frustrating.

Thanks for letting me know, and sorry for the delayed response!
