We all know independent reading is critical to every child’s literacy development and this is a great incentive to help children be motivated to read. Read to Succeed is offering an opportunity to earn a free ticket to Six Flags for students and teachers.

Students in grades K through 6 who complete six hours of recreational, (nonschool-related) reading can earn a free admission ticket to a participating Six Flags theme park. Teachers whose classes participate and complete the program are also eligible to earn a free ticket. Schools must be within a 250-mile radius of a participating Six Flags theme park in order to participate.

We are doing this. My son is in first grade. He is very excited

    • I didnt know homeschoolers could participate. We are excited about this…yay!!!

    • I homeschool sons and we are doing this too! How fun would it be if some of us went on the same day and met!

I can't wait to plan the dates for this trip =)

Hey! Homeschoolers can participate?? That's good to know- we homeschool our oldest daughter. Now, what about the “teachers”? :-)

        • HomeschoolingCouponingMom

How do I register? I went to the site and it appears to want a school name.

          • I just put my name in that slot. Didnt know what else to put.

My daughter was in public school last year and we received a ticket and had alot of fun. We are homeschooling her this year so it would be great if homeschoolers can participate too. I'd love to heat if you find out.

Homeschoolers can participate. I coordinated this program for our area homeschooler for three years. Each eligible child will receive a ticket. One ticket will also go to the parent (teacher).

I usually put our cover school in those spots. Not really sure if that is right, though.

          • We gave our homeschool a name (Life Covenant Academy) when we first made the change. I made us business cards and letterhead. There are many times you can use these to qualify for education discounts. You are the teacher and unless they specify homeschooling is excluded, it is rightfully your savings, as well.

Books A Million has a program along with many others. And Pizza Hut includes homeschoolers in their personal pans for reading hours, too!

Lots of great deals for us =)

Homeschoolers-click on box for school name and put in your zipcode. Scroll down past your area's list of schools and it will ask if you homeschool. Fill in the rest of the info.

Just wanted to let you know that my son did this last year. He was in kindergarten and worked very hard to get his 6 hours. Something happened with the school as a whole and none of the children got their free tickets. After contacting Six Flags they would not do anything about it even though we can submitted it and had all the orignial paperwork. It was very sad because all the children worked hard and then got nothing. Six Flags would not give them their ticket!
