And when you cancel after Feb 14th be ready for phone calls and mail solicitations from them every day for the rest of your life. I cancelled mine three years ago (which was an experience to say the least) and I am still getting phone calls, mail, and emails trying to get me back.

      • sunset

Yes, that happened to me too. Same exact experience here.

      • For the folks with the radio unit already in your car, at least they don’t have to register to listen.  Hopefully no phone calls for us!

jenny how do I just read the new comments when they post instead of having to go thru and reread and see what new is written?

I love my Sirius radio and online listening.  I have a 45 min to an hour commute each way to work and it helps it go by super fast.  I even listen to it while at work so I’m definitely getting my money’s worth!

It is almost like trying to get out of a cult to end subscription and they try to automatically renew

      • Ambmason

They don’t just “try” to automatically renew- they just do it. I have my husband a years subscription for his birthday one year and repeatedly had to fight the “renewal” charges that just showed up on my credit card the two following years until I changed the card number. Now they claim he owes them money when he never asked for renewal and has repeatedly cancelled the service they claim he has on a now broken stereo. Beware this company and giving them any card number.

    • Calpurnia78

Yes they are known as the worst company in the world  to try to cancel, people go thru hell…They are scammers andhave terrible customer service. Their brochures are EXTREMELY misleading. I would not trust this freebie, I would take this blog entry down-its not a good way to save money because they will never be able to get rid of it.. However, the key to getting a low rate for renewal is the word CANCEL – repeat I want to cancel I want to cancel and they will give you the cheaper rate. That is actually a money saving tip.
Also the only way to subscribe is to sign up for auto-renewal. This is legal, I dont know why. By signing your check or credit card you agree to auto renewals. There is no way to just get a one year subscription. Take this entry down- it only gives your readers headaches

      • Bamabobbie

They wanted me to go wiht auto renewal and I said no.  Said it would be higher if I did not but I am not going to renew at the end of my year.  To much hassel when you accidently hit the wrong button.  Forget trying to find something else.  Guess I’m just not familer with it yet.

      • Sporksoma

Oh no, they’re not the worst one to cancel.

        That would be AOL.

Sirius canceled no problem when we told them we wanted to cancel.  AOL had to be threatened with a lawsuit because the representative said he refused to cancel and was giving my mom a free month instead.  He flat out stated he refused to cancel the account.  So Sirius can never be as bad as AOL.

    • longmama

Wow, I didn’t have any trouble cancelling!  I did get lots of offers for cheaper and cheaper subscription rates as the months went by that I didn’t renew service, but they cancelled when I asked them to.  Looking forward to getting my NPR back!  ;)

    • This is going to be so interesting. Will be checking on it.

I don’t even have my radio anymore and I still get calls and notes to renew.  And now I have an XM in my new car, and they have already started hounding me to turn it on.  No way, not after the nightmare trying to cancel it before.  Anyone trying this free preview, beware of fine print and watch what info you give them.  They WILL hound you and ask you to keep the service, they will call, email send letters in the mail.  And if you give them a payment option they will charge and overcharge you.

Thanks for sharing this, I can’t wait for my free 40s on 4!

    • my friend’s mother made $263164 so far just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more here Makecash7DOTcom

Here’s how to get around that. Get a Visa or Mastercard Gift card for $25 or so. There will be enough for them to satisfy the hold. Use the card for incidental purchases. By the time they start to auto charge, the card is used. No hassles.

      • Calpurnia78

see above but even if your credit card is no longer valid they email you that you are responsible for the charges because they won’t turn your radio off after a year- your subscription is up but the radio is still going and you are being charged at whatever new rate is their whim. You can look them up under consumer complaints and they are number one in that department.

    • Calpurnia78

that doesnt work because the Visa card I signed up with had expired and they still told me even tho they didnt have a card on file that I owed them the money!

    • Couponpunk

If you already have it in your car, just not activated, all you need to do is turn it on and listen. They will automatically turn it off after the two weeks are up. They do this often to try and get people to sign on or come back. Similar to how HBO and Showtime give you the free weekends occasionally. Unless you do something else prior to this like give your personal info and credit card info you should be fine.

    • Found a terrific coupon web site to share called CouponQlik, just click on my name and have fun !

Unfortunately, I forgot about this deal until tonight, but I just tired turning on my Sirius radio and no luck… Did anyone else have this problem?  Was anyone else able to get it for free this week?
