We had a week off from shopping.  I had hoped to make to Publix before we left town today but it just didn’t happen.  I can already tell you that we will make up for our week off on Monday when I hit Bi-Lo and Publix.  I just can’t pass up the sales at both stores this ad.  We will also get to CVS Saturday night to shop for this week and next weeks deals.

We did make it out for two random items and for the sake of accountability I will add them to the totals.  We were out and my girls really wanted ice cream.  Instead of spending a fortune on ice cream at the mall we went to Kroger and bought fun sprinkles to go with the ice cream already stored away at home.

Total Spent: $3.29
Nothing Saved… (unless we factor in what the ice cream for 5 people would have cost).

Swagbucks this week:
I used a different computer that didn’t have the toolbar loaded for the first part of the week, so I wasn’t doing so hot but today made up for it! Turns out Friday is Mega Swagbucks Day or Double Swagbucks (different folks call it different things I guess). I only had 9 swagbucks from searching for the week but today I got 10 more! That was enough to re-energize me!!  We are now at 68 Swagbucks from searching!

(If you have no clue what this, go here for an explanation).

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or link to your saving post.

Well, i wish I could say that I only spent that much, but oh well. I think I did pretty well. I would calculated my 10.00 rebate in that I don’t think I am getting now, but that’s okay. Still a good week.

Target: 4 packs of Gerber baby food, 4 packs of Juicy Juice Boxes total spent $4.00, total saved: 10.31

Ingles: Cheese, baby food, pasta, popcorn, juice, yogurt bites, coffee, peanut butter, pancake mix. Total Spent: 26.15, Total Saved: 19.50

Kroger: Juice, yogurt bites and gerber crunchies, 5 bottles of juice, 6 crescents, Kroger cheese, 2 gatorades. Total Spent: 19.74, Total Saved: 20.65

Walgreens: 2 bottles of aveeno lotion, 1 bottle of aveeno shampoo, 1 bottle of lubriderm lotion, eggs, 4 containters of lysol wipes. Total spent: 20.?? and saved 37.??

CVS: 2 cans of coffee, 2 clean and clear makeup remover, pack of cottenelle wipes, 2 christmas wraps. Spent 3.29, saved 20.??

With Walgreens and CVS, I had already mailed my receipts off for the rebate, so I don’t know the exact. It was calculated in my weekly totals before I mailed it off though.

Total for the week: Total spent: 64.00 and Total Saved: 114.00

I think I had a pretty good week.

I’ve already sent in my Johnson & Johnson rebates (one for me, one for my mom), hoping for $20 back. We’ll see if that happens or not. I still got great deals, even without the $20…

      • Wow, what all did you get at CVS for so cheap? That’s very impressive!

        • kelli

$4.33 of the $5.03 was tax.

I got some Christmas clearance: 3 pasta n’ more cookers (99¢ each), gel clings, candy, etc., 6 bottles of Lubriderm skin repair ointment, 4 bottles of Aveeno (2 big, 2 small), 6 bottles of Nature’s Bounty vitamins, 3 Crave-nx, 2 bottles of Clean & Clear, 3 bottles of Oust, 2 6-pack boxes of Soy Joy…. I think that’s it.

I made a dash to Bi-Lo and CVS on Thursday to use some ECB at CVS that were going to expire after the 14th.

      CVS
      Total value: $91.08
      Total OOP: $1.73 (before tax)
      Total OOP: $5.02 (after tax)
      Total Saved: $86.06
*Also got $9 in ECB back!!*

      Bi-Lo
My trip to Bi-Lo wasnt that much of a savings trip per say…..The only things I got with-out coupons (which ran my total up) were 13 of the SoBe drinks that were on sale for $0.88 each! My mom takes one to work with her every day and we normally pay anywhere from $1.69 to $2.19 each for them!!I got all of the ones they had in the flavor she drinks and I am going back for more!

      Total Value: $40.85
      Total OOP: $17.22 (after tax)
      *I paid with a $20 gift card I had*
      Total Saved:$23.63

(oh.. and as a side note.. I am assuming that OOP stands for Out Of Pocket) :P (hope I am right!)

Overall, I am very much pleased with my savings.. ‘specially at CVS!! I just wish that Wal-Mart receipts show how much you saved! I stocked up on the Christmas Clearance stuff when it went to 90%+ off! I got about 48 items (I think) and paid $0.10 for each item but three…those three items I paid $0.25 for ..for all 48(or so)items, I paid about $4 and some odd change!

    • We did a lot of grocery shopping this week but I felt like we had very decent totals. I bought a ton of meats. My CVS total is higher than normal but I had to buy the 42 count prilosec for the DH.

      Total Spent: 177.58
      Total Saved: 174.52 or 49.5 %

Very good considering this included a W Mart trip where I spent 79.83 and only saved 13.45. Publix made up for it where I spent 41.83 and saved 92.09, 10 Healthy Choice Meals for $.50 each and 3 Clean and Clear Blackhead Eraser Refills for $.99 each was very rewarding. CVS was especially nice getting about 20.00 worth of vitamins for about 6.50.
Thank You Jenny for all you do-my shopping will never be the same. I know there are people who do between 70/90% every week but if I save 50% or more with my inevitable WMart trip included I am mighty happy.

This I spent more than usual week. I usually alot(and have been staying within since SS) about $100-125 a week for everything for a family a 5. To make up for my “splurge” I will be taking next week off. Thanks to my stocked pantry and freezer and linen closet I should be able to do this with no problem.

    • Jenny,

I have a question about Swagbucks. What search engine do they use? I am very used to Google and wonder how good the Swagbucks search would be. Any thoughts?

    • My link is not posting. I’m not sure why. I’ve tried a few times. Any help?

    • I also was unsuccessful in posting a link. Total for the week was $223.80 of goods for $36.53 or 84% off.

    • Angela P

Don’t have my actual receipts handy, but I did SUPER this week! I got $150.00 worth @ Shaws (my grocery store) for $23.00 OOP, $145.00 worth @ Rite Aid for $34.00 OOP (after rebates that will be $1.00 OOP), and I picked up 3 Natures (whatever) Windex on clearance today (not sure their original price) for $2.50 (Profit of $2.50 after SC Johnson rebate)!

      Total Before = about $306.00
Total OOP = about $59.50 or $21.50 after rebates
Total saved = $246.50 or $284 after rebates
      % Saved = 80.56% or 92.81% after rebates

      WOOT!!!

    • This was my 1st week, as I am a newbie…..I was very pleased with my totals. I only shopped at Karoger & Publix.

      Kroger….
      Total Paid: $10.96
      Saved Amount: $25.96

      Publix….
      Total Paid: $41.70
      Saved Amount: $63.87

I am now addicted…I cut my normal bill of $150 to under $60!!!!

      • That’s really good, especially for your first week. I’m addicted to saving money, although I probably spend more each week. I have stocked up on stuff and already bought stuff for Christmas next year. People love gift bags full of razors and lotion and body wash. I have been couponing since November and have accumulated so much stuff. Every week I at least shop at CVS and Publix and sometimes I’ll go to Walgreens, Rite Aid, or Bi-Lo if they have great deals. I thought that I might get burned out quickly, but I’m just as addicted as I was the first day. Good luck and welcome to southern savers!

    • Annamarie

small week but I made up for it by spending quite a bit at ingles today…oh well. :)

      total spent $17.55
      total saved $4.28

all savings were coupons at walmart because I just didn’t feel like going anywhere else for the 5 things I bought. The rest I sent DH to ingles for after work because we were out of bbq sauce and baby cereal.

Not sure where to post this, but just wanted to say that my husband and I both got our ING Direct bonus of $121 posted on Saturday. This was exciting to see on our account and we are using these as savings accounts that we can make online transfers to!! Great Company.
