I meant to pull the final numbers for 2011 together for you, but this week has flown by and I forgot.  I’ll get them together and share next week.  I do know that balancing our budget for the year we are under budget on groceries and personal care expenses!!  That was so fun to learn that I feel like celebrating… sadly that would cost money and then would be counter productive.

This week I went out just for produce, milk and bread.  I used one coupon that happened to be on a few lean cuisines I grabbed and that was it (there just aren’t a lot of milk coupons).  We did stay at budget though and that’s all that matters in the end.

Kroger:
Total Value purchased: $75.01
Total Spent: $48.11
Total Saved: $26.90 or 35.8%

The savings were mostly off buying produce on sale and bread that was marked down.  I did grab some half priced pecans too, I just couldn’t pass up $4.49 lb compared to the $9.99 they were 3 days ago!!  Pecans freeze, so these can sit and wait for our next baking day.

As for other deals with coupons, there really isn’t thing that we need or even remotely will need right now.  So I just decided to not bother.  I am looking forward to regular sale ads next week that won’t be so heavy laden with holiday items though!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

I see some profit and not spend a penny, im not there yet, but i think i did really good, savings of 69% almost 70% is not bad for a newbie :)

    • sissy

      Jenny,
I have been following your site and friday finals for a while now. It amazes me how small your percentage saved has been frequently, however, you said at the beginning of this post that you were below goal for the year. What do you budget for a month/week for groceries? do you have a separate budget for personal items CVS/Walgreens?
I am so very happy that you show what you actually spend and not just a one time good trip with 90% savings, like I think they do on some sites.
I know when they post stuff like that, I am always asking where is the bread, milk, meat, produce, lunchmeat, etc….
Thanks for all you do!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

      Wonderful
      Friday…slept late… coupon-ed for a bit in prep for year end/month
end haul…then I went to PUBLIX…my favorite store and spent 3 hours
with myself and my coupons…  I got 231 items for
a total out of pocket before tax $324.57 with $150.65 sales savings,
      $59.10 store coupons and $74.98 vendor coupons.$609.30 worth of product…total savings $284.73
      … roughly 50% savings… average cost
      per item $1.40 …
Day 2 Saturday…New Year’s Eve…OK another sweet night out with my coupons…and shopping clearance….at CVS I racked up…105 items…spent 168.46 saved $665.10 with sale prices, coupons and extra bucks…that is 74.7% savings..e $833.56 worth of product and I did do a Wal-Mart run where I used $50 worth of coupons and payed out of pocket $162.63 for 84 items with a $202.63 value…so the totals are 420 items for $1,645.49 (average cost $3.91 which doesn’t sound good) which I paid out of pocket $655.66 (average cost per item $1.56 better but want to do better)…. savings 63% again not the best numbers but it’s OK …I had taken a few weeks off and was determined to use my coupons…I don’t have pictures but it was FUN and rewarding…
