We made a family trip to the store this week for Kroger’s Meat Mania sale.  If you saw a family with three kids and an enter side of beef that was us.  Taking a grill lovin’ guy into a meat sale isn’t a good budget meeting kinda idea.  My husband saw the whole ribeye at $4.99 lb and had visions of steak all summer.

I’m pretty sure that ribeye was larger than my youngest child…

Total before sales: $267.23
Total Spent: $101.65
Total Saved: $165.58

This involved very little “couponing” it was more just buying things at the right price.  If you ever want to throw the coupons out the window it’s okay, just remember to still grab whats on sale.  Your $1 off coupon is still worth a dollar no matter when you use it.  You are saving most of your money by purchasing items at the right time!!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings.

        WOW!!

        • kelli

other than some ground turkey at Kroger, everything I bought was free or mostly free after coupons and ECBs, RRs or SCR. At CVS one of my transactions allowed me to pay for all of my tax with extra bucks (not sure why) but that's why my oop was so low there.

      • jerilyn

wow, that's great! Don't let those RR's go to waste! :)

I had a slow week and I can't even remember this week from last! lol.
Kroger- 4 boxes of wheaties fuel- $4.46, got $4 cat. back. 4 ronzoni's for $1.
Rite-aid- U by kotex, free after SCR.

I plan on making a trip to wags tomorrow. there isn't a store in my town. the closest one is about 15 miles away and with a vehicle that gets HORRIBLE gas mileage, it's just usually not worth it, especially when they almost never have what I'm looking for.

          • kelli

            I think I did okay today. I spent all $20 RRs ($5 x 4) and $2.60 oop and saved $28.77. I got back $21 RRs.

I'm still brand new to wags. I think I did pretty good. I hate having to buy a filler. I had to do 4 transactions because they didn't have the trimmer or tone body wash. I bought 4 puddings ($.39 each), which was most of my oop. I don't know if there's anything cheaper to use as a filler but I knew that we'd eat the pudding, so it was worth getting.

            • jessyca

the wags I go to has laffy taffy and single packaged twizzlers and stuff like that right next to the register which are only .10 a piece.. so I use those unless I find something in the clearance aisle I like.

            • kelli

thanks for that tip! I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

I was all flustered because they were out of almost everything I was planning on buying. I had everything figured out so that would only need to do one transaction to use up $15 of the RRs and I was considering doing another to make sure that I had 2 weeks to use them all up. I ended up doing 4 though. ugh! still a great deal but not as good as I had hoped. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it if I continue.

    • i wasnt sure where to post this question but does anyone know if there has been a winner on the parents choice formula???

      • There was. I don't always post the winners but do contact them by email. (I try to save posts for actual deals.) I have another formula giveaway next week though…

    • thanks for the fast response and all that you do, your site rocks!

    • Karen

I spent $75.94 including tax and saved $100.75. This was my biggest savings yet!! I have learned though most Publix don't require you to have the penny coupon they have forgotten to take it off twice now.

    • Laura

19 boxes of frozen veggies, 5 things of clearance Laura's Lean meat (not part of the list I just stop at the clearance meat section every week), 10 cans of 5-count pillsbury cinnamon rolls—all for $33.20 at Kroger when the full price would have been $78.81. Good thing I saved on other stuff in the past or this weeks' meals would be kinda weird

    • Mel

Spent $136, saved $132 at Publix!

    • shelly
