This week was a Kroger week for us.  I ran in to get all the unadvertised deals for you guys and left with a lot that I hadn’t planned on.  The four day sale at Kroger was just too good to pass up.

With everything thing that I bought I actually didn’t use any coupons.  There weren’t any coupons available to use on these items, so there is no guilt involved.

Kroger:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $84.62
Total Spent: $44.98
Total Saved: $39.64 or 46.8%

This included 8 half gallons of milk, some fresh produce and chicken!

We are also continuing to get our produce box each week from the CSA share that we bought earlier.  Having a ton of produce each week has actually saved us more many than I realized because now I only need meat to make a meal.  We’ve had some interesting meals to use up what we are getting, like so far this week we’ve had turnips, beets, cauliflower, swiss chard, broccoli and spinach mixed into dinner in some way. It’s forcing us to get creative and so far everything we’ve cooked has been great (even the beets).

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

    • Am curious as to how you used your beets.  I haven't come up with anything that I like beets in : )

      • We sauteed them with green onions which were also in our box.  The beets ended up tasting just like caramelized onions and tasted pretty good.

        • Thanks.. i may have to give that a try.

Is it cheaper to buy 1/2 gallon size milk than the 1 gallon size? Just wondering…

      • They were on sale for $1 as part of the Kroger 4 day sale.

    • Greg

I did all my shopping today. Wags, CVS, Bi-Lo, Publix. Total oop:$25 Total saved:$109.

    • Erica H.

This may sound silly. Can you do self checkout with coupons at Kroger?

      • Kristin

        yes

      • tinajo650

I actually prefer it to going through the line.

    • Carrie_penny

I am very lucky at where we live.  I am 5 minutes from many chain stores and I have to go by the other major grocery store twice a week to meet my husband.  I spent 36% of my total this week.  This included cereal, meats, toothpaste, hair dye, make-up, pasta and cleaning supplies.  For my first real week at this I am very happy.

I can't thank you enough for your time and effort on this site, you are a life saver!

    • Alicoopa

Between the coupons from last Sunday's paper and the coupons I was able to find through this fantastic site, my first foray into the world of triple coupons resulted in a savings of $42 on a $70 grocery bill. :-)

    • Prettyblueyez

      Hi All,
I was unable to purchase my local newspaper this week, is there somewhere online I can purchase the inserts I really would like the wisk coupons.  Thanks in advance

      • devgwen

Coupons by DeDe is a good one.  She sells whole inserts.  I think Ebay had the Wisk coupons last time I checked.

    • Peachykeen

My first Harris Teeter triples was a success!  The total before deals was $103.24 and after swiping my card and handing over my coupons, my total was $44.63!!! My haul included 8 rolls of paper towels, 5 cases of drinks, 4 boxes of cereal, and so much more!

    • Mudpie

Jenni, make some green smoothies. Take your blender and put spinach (we use frozen) in the bottom with water, blend this till it is smooth (no lumps) then add to this bananas (we get the ripened on mega sale and take the skins off, layer them in a freezer bag and use when needed from our freezer) then assorted fruit to sweeten. The fresh beets you commented on makes this smoothie a very pretty color! My kids eat this up!! Freeze as popcicles for later!

For the banana skins, put 2 or 3 in a lided coffee can and fill with water. In about 3 weeks, this is now slimy. Use this to water your garden. Refill the cans with the same banana skins for 3 or 4 times, till the skins are really soft and then bury them in the soil. Best fertilizer EVER! (free!)

    • $170 savings at Harris Teeter this week. So many items and two weeks worth of groceries for a house hold of 5 adults. If it wasn't for this site,  we'd be in a pickle. My fiance is out of work after breaking his foot 4 weeks prior to our wedding (June 19th). I've been out of work since the week before Christmas and we're staying with my future inlaws. Then my sister in law had surgery and we're caring for her and her 6 month old child. This site has been a life saver and helped us save so much money on groceries! Thank you so much!

    • Sarah

I just bought $127.46 worth of groceries for $65.98 which includes taxes. I saved 53% not as great as the extremers, but I can't complain lol! This includes lunches for the next month, OJ, breakfasts and a couple of quick dinners, the free Wisk and 0.19 Ivory soap!! The Ivory was clearanced $1.19 and I only had 1 $1 off coupon that I got just as a bonus. I;m gonna have to see if I can find more and get a stock of them!!

    • Blankwoman

Thanks to your mention here, I searched CSA farms in my area and found one right down the road!  I just signed up for the next 6 weeks and I can't wait to see what treasures await! What a fun idea – cuz my gardening skills are seriously lacking!!

    • Coupondad

Got a great deal on Huggies diapers today. Got 5 packs for $9.47 total!!!!!!!!! (before tax)
      They
had size 6 little snugglers on the clearance rack marked 2 for $10.99. I
grabbed all 5 packs they had left and the cashier let me use 5 of the
store coupons that were in the flyer  for $2 off one and I stacked them
with 4 $1.50 coupons and 1 $2 coupon that I had. My daughter is in size 5
now so this works out awesome!!!!! $1.89 per pack of diapers!!!!!!!!!
