I made it to Publix this week on the last day of the sale just to grab a few deals and a few rain checks.  They were mostly out of everything that was a good price but I kinda knew that would be the case when I went on a Tuesday night.

Publix:
Before Sales and Coupons: $55.78
Total Spent: $19.50
Total Saved: $36.28

I grabbed the Staples Toilet Paper deal only to have my order canceled.  I should have known from past experience that staples loves to put out a great deal but never likes to honor them when folks like it.  They gotta work on that.

Did you grab any great deals this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your weekly savings.

My Staples refused to give me my coupons back. They said “oh we shred coupons every night.” I said “We both know that's a load of crap, you can't possibly shred coupons and get reimbursed for them. How do you shred them and then mail them to the manufacturer? If you can't give me my coupons back then I want cash, my coupons equal cash.” She put me on hold for less than ten seconds, and came back with “I have your coupons waiting here at the register for you.”

I tried the Marcal deal at Staples and was also told that my ordered couldn't be shipped! But I still got a pretty good deal!! This is what happened: A lady at customer service ordered 2 packages of the tissue paper for me, I was only allowed to use 1 $2 man. coupon, so I paid approx $8. When I discovered my order wasn't shipped I went to get a refund! The computer kept trying to give me my $27 back! My $8 back, along with all of the coupons! I kept insisting that I only wanted back what I paid and the cashier called her manager to the register. He said they had to do what the computer was saying..so they put $8 back on my debit card & gave me a gift card for $19 ( 2 $8 in store coupons, $2 man coupon & tax) it was very odd– but I got a free $19 gift card just because my order didn't come in! SWEET!! Did this happen to anyone else?

        • Lucy

At least one lucky person. Everybody I know ordered online, and everybody's orders got cancelled (maybe a few lucky ones got it) :) They got oversold.

        • AshleyQ

I had something sort of similar happen. I called CS as soon as I got the email that my order was cancelled and my $ would be refunded (I paid $13ish oop.) I asked CS how were they going to handle my coupons since I didn't get the deal but I was still out my high dollar Q's. She said she couldn't return my coupons but she would send me a $10 gift check, good for anything in the store. Ok, no problem, $10 sounds good but I am really only getting an extra $2 because because I had given 4, $2 Q's, so they were only out $2. But I wasn't going to complain. Then I received a refund check in the mail for the FULL amount, before Q's so I go the $8 back in that plus still had the $10 gift check. I'm still happy with Staples!

Bummer on the staples deal! My favorite deal this week was getting 4 packages of 100 calorie packs at Target for $1.41! They were on sale for $2.41; I used a B3G1 Target coupon, two B1G1 manufactures coupon, and then a $1/2 any nabisco multipacks.

Jenny every week I always wonder how you get your savings so high. With the help of southern savers I save a ton each week (avg 40%). However, with the purchase of meat, milk and fresh vegetables I am never able to get above 50%. Do you buy a lot of fresh produce?

      • gingiraffe

I wonder the same thing. Me and my family do not eat a lot of processed foods and I find that that's where the big savings usually are because those companies want you to buy their product. I buy mostly fresh produce weekly and fresh meats (I do not have freezer space to store lots of extra) and there aren't many qs for those. I also do not have a large pantry, so stocking up 6 months is not an option for me. And I'm not typically one to just buy something I absolutely don't use or need just to get an overage. If someone else needs it, then I will leave it for them. I think saving roughly 40% is a good deal for me though. It definitely helps!!! I saved $87 and spent $115 at Publix this week. Good week for me!

Before the special 10 GBX for 10 Q, I didn't like Piggly Wiggly. However, with the specials, its worth a second look. Today I bought:
3 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken breast
      1.5 lbs. ground sirloin
      2 lbs. pork loin chops
      3 lbs. sirloin steak
      bananas
      peaches
      sweet potatoes
      2 pkg. mushrooms
2 transactions used 20 GBS paid total of $4.17
Both the cashier and the lady behind me were amazed!

      • Jeri

Sounds like there are good buys at the pig this week. I never went there before either until they started doing the 10 mfr q = 15 free groceries deal. I haven't gone this week yet to cash in on my gbs but will be doing that shortly!

    • Diane

I am hooked on couponing and love sharing any deals and extra coupons with fellow couponers at work each week. I also love reading the Friday Finals so I can check out what kind of deals others have found. But it is soooooo wrong to see people buying 30 Bic razors. Really? No wonder so many of us can't find the great buys in stock each week. This isn't stockpiling. This is gluttony and pure selfishness….

    • Debra

My toilet paper order was cancelled, too. The woman who I called from Staples told me that the online orders, like that, go on sale starting at midnight. So by the time I went to the store with my coupons I really lost time.

      • Now, that's my kind of shopping. Great job!

        • kelli

thanks! I've mostly taken the last 2 weeks off except for to use up register rewards and extra bucks that were expiring. I've got such a huge stockpile, I don't really need anything.

      • jennifer

how do you save so much like you do please teach me!

        • kelli

I'd be glad to try to help you. First off I can tell you that one of the ways that I save so much money is that I shop like a completely insane person. If I gave you a list of the stuff that I bought this week, you would probably agree.

At CVS and Walgreens I rarely pay much more than tax oop. I use EBs and RRs to pay down my total. I am horrible at Walgreens and I won't be shopping there much more, I've got $11 RRs left that expire in a week and after I'm done with them, I'm done with Walgreens. Too far away, too much hassle. I'm pretty great at CVS. It's probably my favorite store.

If you have anything specifically that you'd like me to help you with, please feel free to email me – kellimd82 AT gmail DOT com.

Kelli can you email or call me or can I call you to give me a couple tips on how you did so well? I need a little bit of advice and I’ll be on my way to do some awesome couponing. My email is mdb123xyz@aol.com Thanks so much!!

    • Kiki

Read about Staples, so called about mine and cancelled too! Ugh! Was excited about cheap toilet paper! The things that make me happy are not complicated!

    • Lucy

Both of my Staples orders got cancelled as well. And I ordered very early. I am very upset because it should be easy to track how many they sell online. I don't understand how they got oversold. On all the other websites, even if you already place a product in your cart, it can go out of stock within minutes, and they track it. Anyway, I'm disappointed in Staples. STAPLES SUCKS!!!

    • nedia hall

This was my first time couponing. I think I did pretty well, for the first time. My before sale and coupon total was $283.94 – I paid $121.60. This was at Lowes and Harris Teeter. For the first time in years my pantry is full.

      • nedia hall

Opps! I wrote that wrong. $283.94 was what I saved. My total came to $405.54. I paid $121.60.

    • sarah

Great week here! I saved 91% at Publix! $235 for $20!!! That included fresh meat and some produce. I only saved 53% at Kroger, but I never do as well there. I did score 6 free deodorants there. The checker was new and accepted all of my internet q's without even batting an eye.

      • jennifer

how do you do it please explain tome how you save like that

    • The toilet paper is horrible. Trust me Staples did you all a favor.

    • camp

does anyone else feel like they are eating a lot of processed crap since starting couponing?

    • sage117

I wonder who got the deal on the marcal tissue, I think staples forgot to order this item, because I went on line again and they had it in stock.

    • jerome

I got shafted too on the marcal tissue.
I wonder who got this deal. They should have gave us a rain check on this.
And beleive it or not I stayed up to 1:00 a.m. that morning to try to score that deal and there website was showing the paper tissue for 18.99.
      I'm threw with staples.

    • Ashley

I went to Kroger on Wednesday to advantage of the hot dog sale for my son's birthday party in 2 weeks. I was shocked at how much I saved, I got 15 packs of Oscar Mayer hot dogs, 4 bags of Lays chips, 4 cases of Coke, 2 pks of lunchmeat,2 bottles of mustard, several of the $1 items and spent $61.44. but I saved $102.26! I could not believe it!

    • Mary Burney

This is my second week of couponing. I am only couponing at Bi-lo for now until I can get the swing of things. My bill was $244.00. I paid $147.00. My husband was very surprised especially when the cart was overflowing with items.
