I did two little trips to the store this week.  We grabbed a few items at Kroger and a couple of the great deals at Walgreens.  Other than that we didn’t need much.

Kroger:
Total before sales and coupons: $41.77
Total Spent: $20.52
Total Saved: $21.25 or 50.8%

Walgreens:
Total before sales and coupons: $12.89
Total Spent: $6.06
Total Saved: $6.83
RR Remaining: $5

I have to confess this has been a really long week.  I’m running on 13 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours, and am ready for some R&R.  Thankfully I’m typing this as my family travels to the beach!  Don’t worry there really isn’t a vacation for a blogger, everything will be pretty much as usual next week.  But for me, blogging beach side sounds awesome right now!

If you have been struggling to piece all this grocery savings together, I encourage you to visit everyday next week.  I’ve some awesome posts covering the basics and big questions ready for each day, I think you’ll really enjoy it!  (For those of you that have been at this for ages, a refresher never hurts either.)

Now for your turn to share:

I got my 99 cent Pepsi at CVS.  Then I got my 3 Hershey bars for 1 cent at CVS (had to rain check the Zyrtec).  Then I went to Publix and spent $21.23 and saved over $37 but I don't have the receipt because I had to send it in for the $20 gift card.  So I got 6 ketchups, 6 peanut butters, 2 reddi whip, 12 chef boyardee, a pizza, rolls and a small chocolate milk for $1.23.

Just wanted to update everyone on the Shelbyville, Ky. Kroger new coupon policy.  I went in and talked to the manager today.  I was told, and I quote, “In oder to stop the Extreme Couponing we will now only accept 3 coupons per item.”  I was told something crazy by a cashier the other night so I wanted it clarified to me.

As you're a nurse I guess we don't have to tell you sleep deprivation will kill you faster than food deprivation.

Thanks for the hard work. Now take a break!

does anyone want pedisure coupons? I have a few of them for $2 off of 1 pack. My son cant drink them due to allergies so they are just going to go to waist. Please email me at Mrs.Lewis05@yahoo.com if you would like them.

I am so thankful for Southern Savers, and for you Jenny. I am trying very hard to be a stay at home Mom. If the 3 kids dont kill me the strict budget would but you are helping a lot with the latter. I am feeding and caring for my family only so you wont see me buying 56 boxes of cereal or 22 bags of flour but nonetheless I save at least 50% on my groceries including meat and produce weekly. I have made time to go to publix, kroger (and bi-lo occasionally for meat mostly)  and I do CVS as my weekend “party”. Thank you so much for your help! God Bless.

Jenny, I am new to this and I haven't been this determined about anything in a long time.  I'm not saving a ton, but I am trying so hard to get the hang of it.  Our family has completely changed since my husband lost his job, and all of your extremely hard work, as well as the hard work of everyone who supports you has inspired me to come out of my “coma” and do the best I can to feed my family.  Thank you so much for all you do, I am grateful for your dedication.

Did anyone else notice that on the TLC Extreme Couponing show that te people seemed almost normal? What I really mean was that their savings seemed more realistic and they were not buying 25 of everything. I especially enjoyed the dad who worked for the radio station and shopped at a store that actually limited the number of coupons you could use on e same item. Maybe TLC is realizing that we need to see something that is more attainable then trying to get $1000 in groceries for free!

      • Erkelly

I noticed that too and I appreciated it. What I liked about him is that he said that he's an honest man and wasn't going to try to use a coupon for the wrong product or size. I think some of the previous people on the show needed some of his honesty!

Should have paid 232.76 and got back $31.97 in cash!!!! Best trip ever!!! Love Publix alot but not so much the cashier that hassled me on every other coupon!  UGH took some of the joy out of it.

    • Vkostyal

Have a great vacation Jenny! Thank you for all that you do :)

    • Brady

I don't have a picture but went shopping and had a cart of $171 worth of groceries and only spent $76. It's all thanks to Southetn Savers. It was my second trip to the grocery store using coupons so I wasn't expecting a huge savings. I ended up saving more than I actually spent. I don't know why more people don't do this.

    • Kerry

Thank you Jenny for posting your own shopping trip totals which demonstrate realistic savings at the register :)

    • Janna

Great week at Publix this week. Spent about $34 for $68 worth of groceries — plus I have a $20 gift card on the way. So it was really about 80% savings.

I am not sure about totals because the receipt is already in the mail with the rebate.  I bought all of the Summer Storm Savings rebate items (raviolli is a staple at our house with a 6 year old) plus the green advantage buy colgate and softsoap to get $3 off on milk.  Plus I got free strawberries with the $2 off on produce from the Conagra/Storm rebate and a Driscols berries coupon.  I love my local Publix since they take Kroger and Target competitor coupons. :-)
