I have two minutes left to Friday, getting this in just in time.  We went shopping earlier this week to Kroger and Publix, but honestly I feel like it was two weeks ago and didn’t bring the receipts with me…  so how about a another breakdown of our day in NY and then you guys jump in with your deals.

Yesterday we walked central park and then went to the American Museum of Natural History.  This was the most expensive part of our trip so far, but was very cool.  I left with a very strong desire to watch “Night at the Museum”, so hopefully I can find this at the library when we get back.

Last night started the activities of Blogher, the blogging conference that I’m really here in New York for.  I spent the night meeting some great brand managers and companies and have many new contacts that are eager to bring fun things to you guys!  Today was packed full of Blogher events.  My favorite so far was Unilever taking over the entire floor of a hotel to pamper bloggers with massages, and fun relaxing treats.  If every bottle of Suave lotion came with a foot massage I would buy out the store every time we shopped!!

Tomorrow holds more events and some fun.  We were graced with free tour tickets tonight from random tourists on the street.  They had three day tour passes and were heading home so they gave us their tickets for the last day!!  Very exciting to have free events given to you by total strangers.

Okay back to the deals now…  how did you guys do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

Enjoy your time in NYC. I hope many people figure out that with a tad bit of research it does not have to be overly expensive. The hotels, well, that is a different story…

I really enjoy this blog. All the work is done for me! I'm new to couponing, but I am saving a lot already. On Wednesday at Publix, I saved $100. I had 27 coupons and the cashier was really nice about it and she did it quickly and said, “Wow, you did well!” Nobody behind me seemed annoyed and I felt really good about it. Yea for saving money!!!

Why is it double posting my links?!

      • Maranda

Sorry everyone. Jenny, Can you please go in and delete my double links. I hate that it is doing it. I think it is something on my crappy computers end maybe? Thanks

I'm so jealous that you're in NYC!!!! I need to go there again.

I did really great this week. I only went to Rite Aid. I'll probably go to CVS and Kroger tomorrow though.

      Rite Aid:
      total before sales/coupons: $81.36
      total oop: $3.44
      total saved: $77.92 or 95%
If saving 95% wasn't good enough, I'll also be getting back $25 SCR and a $10 gift card. I did use $21 in +up rewards this week but even after that, I still made money shopping! :)

      • kelli

did a little bit more shopping today. I had some extra bucks that I needed to spend and a few sales that I wanted to take advantage of.

        Rite Aid

        total oop: $8.7
        total saved: $122.66 or 93%
I used $29 in +up and got back $4. Also I'll be getting back $35 SCR and $10 GC, net total $11.30 MM.

        Kroger
        total before sales/coupons: $31.68
        total oop: $.78
        total saved: $30.84 or 97.5%

        CVS
        total before sales/coupons: $24.05
        total oop: $.35
        total saved: $23.70 or 98.5%
used $15 extra bucks, got back $15 extra bucks

        Weekly
        total before sales/coupons: $187.03
        total oop: $9.83

Oooh, now I have to go to bed in a jealous funk! Best I've ever done was 75% savings! Just can't see how I can get much better — couponing has totally cut out my impulsive shopper gene!! I'm loathe to buy something now unless it's on sale AND I have a coupon that will make it a real cheapie, if not free, but there are those “necessities” like produce or meat that there are no coupons for, so I shop the sales and try to opt for the best between Harris Teeter and Lowes, as we have no Publix (sniff) and my Food Lion doesn't double coupons. It's those things that tend to drive my total up. What's a girl to do?!

    • harper

Question about Publix. I did some shopping there today and the cashier suppressed doubling on 4 or 5 $.50 coupons. She said it was because they said no doubling in the fine print (she scrutinized everyone of my coupons, lol). Was she right to do this or not?
      Thanks!

      • WynetteC

I don't even waste the ink on 50 cent printables anymore unless I need it because of that one reason. Just go for higher value printable coupons. Some blinkie machines also have those Do Not Double coupons as well. If it says DO NOT DOUBLE at the top, they can suppress the doubling action. Even so, Publix is still my favorite grocery store and they have the best deals when they have B1G1 sales – in my opinion! :)

        • harper

I know I hated to complain about it because I still had such a great trip ($214.82 worth of goods for $90.76) but I had never had that happen before. Four of the coupons she suppressed were from last Sunday's paper, but I have noticed the do not double on a bunch of printables. Thanks WynetteC!!

    • I love all of the pictures of NYC! I miss New England! :( Lol. Hope you have fun!

    • Have fun in NYC!

    • Snowski824

You need a foot massage after a trip around NYC. I just remember my feet were aching and we still had several hours before we had to be at the airport but had check out of our hotel. We ran into one of those pedicabs in central park and I think I would have paid about anything to not have to walk around anymore. It was blissful!

I do not know the best place to ask this but does anyone know of any good sites like this one for the Chicago area? My sister wants to start couponing but they do not have most of the stores we have.

      • CouponNERD

I'm not sure of other sites, but my brother lives in Chicago and they do have all the same drugstores… So, your sister could use this site for the drugstores at least.

        • Denise

I know the grocery stores are different but this will be a start. Thanx.
