This week can be summed up nicely with a quote from Proverbs 19:21… “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”  This was supposed to be our quiet down week after two weeks of being on the go.  We had no big plans just to get caught up and start some big projects around the house.

Instead this week has become a blur from Wednesday at 9:30 am until now.   We found out Wednesday that my husband needed his gallbladder out and spent the day preparing for the surgery on Thursday.  Thursday was spent just hanging with him at the hospital and then today was a crazy day as well with him and other events.

All in all I have everything ready to go shopping. So far though we haven’t done any shopping outside of a run to the store for medication and gingerale.

How about someone elses trip so we have something to share:

This is Heather’s Trip to Kroger

Total Before coupons: $107.49
Total Spent: $11.35
Total Saved: $96.14 or 89.4 %

She made me smile saying she used my reusable shopping bag tip from a recent video.  Thanks for sharing Heather!!

How was your shopping this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.

    • I hope your husband is feeling better! I know that had to be scary.

    • Thanks so much for the linky! I appreciate it very much!

Yeah… definitely unsubscribing after the Bible quote. Just because it's southern, I guess it has to be religious. Too bad.

      • Geges6

How sad that you are threatened by that.

      • Admccormick1

Since when does being southern have ANYTHING to do with a quote from the Bible ? You DO NOT have to be southern to quote the Bible !! Jenny has a RIGHT to her personal beliefs and if you do NOT like it feel free to excuse yourself !!!

      • Crazy1comet

Bye…won't miss you. We all have our beliefs, I hope that God blesses you despite your statement : )

      • Jenni

What? Can't deal with someone's beliefs being different from yours? Or someone utilizing their right God-given and Constitutional right to the free exercise of their faith – on their personal blog, no less? Fine.

But consider for a moment how intolerant and block-headedly insensitive your comment is considering what her family has been through this week. When MOST people would have thought to extend love, thoughtfulness and consideration, you have shown nothing but a selfish, conceited and immature desire to belittle someone MERELY because you disagree with them. *shakes head*

Go hypocritically fence yourself off from the merest thing that offends you, and live in your little, close-minded bubble.

And just TRY to find a better couponing site for the American South-East.

      • Guest

I for one will be happy to not be seeing the foul language you use in your comments. Totally inappropriate for this blog.

      • 3monkeysmom

It's not a religion, it's a relationship with our Savior. And in times of trouble and chaos, we lean on those we have a relationship with for comfort and for peace :-)

Romans 8:28 – “All things work together for GOOD to those who love God”- hang in there Jenny and Jenny's hubby! Things will get better!

    • April

Hope your husband has a speedy recovery. My husband had his gallbladder out unexpectedly right around this time last year, but it made him feel SO much better afterwards!

    • Jennifer

Jenny, I hope your husband is on the mend! Thanks so much for all you do…It's a true blessing for my family! I noticed the picture above and the total amount spent is $11.35…That is great! But, when I go to the store each week, I buy meat and other big ticket items and I always use your site. I buy all natural meat and milk, which are more expensive. I save on other things with coupons, but I would like to trim my bill a little more…I'm spending as much as $100 per week, even using coupons. Any suggestions?

      Thanks again!

    • Zombiemommy

Thanks for practicing your religion! We are allowed too, its a free country.

    • Jenni

Jenny – I am praying for a speedy and full recovery for your husband right now, as well comfort, rest and peace for you and the rest of your family. May God continue to richly bless your family, and bestow favor and honor with Himself and with man.

I live in dayton ohio area and found a deal at kroger but you have to act fast.I was looking through my coupons and found a 50 cent off speed stick that expires 8/14. Right now Krogers in my area are selling them for 88 cents. Great freebie for back to school!

    • Dgswatz

Prayers to your family that you all are back to normal soon.I appreciate all you do to help us,but take care of your dear hubby and yourself.

    • sonyapell

I haven't posted to my blog yet, but I'm all kinds of excited. I spent around $35, saved a bit over $90, and will be getting back about $24 in rebates (ducolax, pantene, hydro). I didn't expect the ducolax to have a rebate attached, so that was a nice surprise. Also, when I picked up the hydro razor, there was a peelie attached with a coupon for free shaving cream! I got 8 of the bogo progresso soups, with the .50 off coupons, and I think 6 boxes of betty crocker brownies. :) That'll be a nice treat for the kiddos (and me!).

    • Robregan7

I can't believe that it's already Saturday morning. This week has flown by. I hope that your husband is feeling better!!!

Here are my totals for the week so far. I've got some more extra bucks I've gotta go spend before tonight and I might make another Kroger run, so these will probably change, but here's what I've got so far. :)

      • GA Girl

My prayers are with you and your family. May the Peace of the Lord be with you all during this ordeal.

Hoping that your hubby is healing well. You've been such a blessing to us, I think that you must be wonderfully blessed as well.

    • a+shopperDawn

I also am using the recycle bag shopping tip! It really helps make things faster for me during shopping AND checkout. Thank you so much for sharing this tip!! ( you might even repost for those that missed)

    • Hubbardca

Thanks for all you do. God bless you and your familly!
I got 4 cartloads of Kellogg product and a Ducolax, 4, 2-liter pepsi and 2 grape jellies for next to nothing. I could have gotten a little more, but have a young baby.

      • Hubbardca

I need to add that it was not exactly next to nothing. It was about $4 for every 10 items, but I am hoping to get more back it HT lets me get credit for my coupons after the fact. One manager said they will; one said they will not. Still, we have enough poptarts for a year :)

    • Britt8983

I am new to all this and I am trying to get the hang of it but I have a few questions.
      1. are the coupons on Cellfire for Kroger the same as the ones on the Kroger site that are loaded to your card?
      2. does Kroger let you use the coupons on your card and manuf. coupons?
      3. when does smart source and other sites post new coupons?

    • Courtneyslp

Kroger: Wow, My best deal yet. I got 8 Sobe waters which got me the $4 off to make them each 49cents. Then I used 4 bogo coupons and got 2.17 back! Looking at the receipt, the cashier gave me 1.59 credit for each sobe coupon (regular price). Awesome deal! Sent my husband out to do it again…as we speak!

    • Lanavdixon

Hope your husband is feeling better. It would have been okay for you to take a vacation from posting! Thanks for being there for all of us.

    • WynetteC

Now it makes sense why you had no new posts on Thursday and I kept watching for the new CVS add and wondering how odd it was nothing new was added to your blog. Those little emergencies tend to happen just like that, when we least expect them. I hope you guys have a relaxing weekend after such a hectic week. Thank you for all you do on here. It has really helped me find purpose in my downtime.

    • Connie Powell

Made my trip to Kroger (3rd time this week) to grab some more of the Mega Sale. Saved 98% on my total!!! Transferred 2 prescriptions so the $50 off really helped. And to make a perfect ending to my week I won a IPOD NANO on the Sobe Heads or Tails game!!!

      Thanks Southern Savers!!!

      • Alslaughter2

Awesome! I have played quite a few times and wondered if anyone really won anything. Did you use a code from a bottle top or just the daily game?

        • Connie Powell

I just was playing the daily game…was about to get upset when he didn't hold up the card for the coupon! LOL

    • Michelle

I went to Kroger and got 24 of the mega sale items, plus meat, milk, bread, 2 Tombstone pizzas, etc. Total before discounts/coupons was $101.42 and I spent $9.62!!

    • Lisa

Well I'm still new to this and new to CVS, so I out a lot of thought into it before going there! I usually always buy just diapers cause I use so many and don't buy a newspaper, so these are coupons mailed to me or printed out. Well here is my great steal this week:
Huggies Pullups, 2 packs of Huggies diapers and one big bag of Huggies wipes. Total spent was $6.42, total saved was $37.96, and have a $3 EB that printed after….really making my total $3.42!!!!!

    • House

really… do you people not buy any veggies or fruit?

      • Lanavdixon

I usually buy most of my produce at Aldi and wouldn't post that but they have had some great deals on produce lately. We eat lots of fresh produce every week.
