This was an interesting shopping week…  I ran out to CVS, Bi-Lo and the Chef’s Store.  We grabbed some staple items (bread, milk, produce) from Bi-Lo along with the super fun k-cup sale that is running this week.  Then I got free toothpaste at CVS and steak at the Chef Store.

Bi-Lo Totals:
Total Value Purchased: $78.12
Total Spent: $39.79
Total Saved: $38.33 or 49%

While it’s not the 50% goal, it’s pretty close.  Most of our staples I mentioned above weren’t on sale either.  Our house doesn’t run without milk and bread though…

CVS Totals:
Total Value Purchased: $3.99
Total Spent: $0
Total Saved: 100%

I always expect to owe the tax, but I was very pleasantly surprised when the register showed $0.00 for amount due!  I took my toothpaste and skipped out the door.

If we don’t get our meat from Zaycon, we get it from the Chef Store here in town.  This is a restaurant supply store but anyone can shop there.  They sell fresh and frozen meat in bulk.  This week they have Whole Chuck Eye Roasts on sale for $3.99 lb.  You have to buy 25 lbs which sounds like a lot, but I’ll use some as Sunday roasts for the next few weeks and the rest we cut into our own steaks.  I can’t touch that price for smaller roasts in the grocery store, so it’s a steal for getting enough steaks to feed 17 people (which I needed).  Total Cost: Right at $100.  This is a big splurge for our budget, but there are times when you can save and enjoy the fruits of your savings buy opening up your home and having sweet fellowship with friends!
