Last week I was busy walking Manhattan with a baby strapped to me… so I kinda forgot to type up our Friday Finals.  Ada and I made a journey and enjoyed some sweet one-on-one time that is rare in a family with 5 kids.  She’ll also now hear for the rest of her life that she has been on a plane and to NYC.  I have a feeling she’ll dislike that about as much as I did as a kid though.

Last week I made it out to Rite Aid before we left town.  That was my only shopping.  I shared in a video everything that we got.  Though the deals are old, if you are trying to figure out Rite Aid shopping the video should still help you get the concept.

Rite Aid Totals:

We sent right at $35 and got 3500 points back.  So everything was FREE after points.

This week I went to Publix and Bi-Lo.  After two weeks of not shopping we needed a number of things (like we were down to the last roll of toilet paper).  Bi-Lo was my largest trip and by the time we checked out the buggy was almost as tall as I was with toilet paper stacked up on top of everything else.

Publix:

Total Value Purchased: $134.73
Total Spent: $51.28
Total Saved: $83.45 or 61%

You can see my actual shopping list and get an idea of what we grabbed.  I also picked up a few clearance items too.  I will confess that I bought toothpaste for 44¢ (you’ll see it on the shopping list too) which is compeltely against my “toothpaste should be free” rule but it was for a good cause.  Our church was trying to send home an Kenyan pastor with as many things as we could pack into an extra suitcase so we cleaned out our stash and grabbed even more.

Bi-Lo:

Total Value Purchased: $221.98
Total Spent: $85.10
Total Saved: $136.88 or 62%

My shopping list is here, but this trip has a number of closeout items that we ran across and I couldn’t pass up.  They’ve clearance more of their organic line and a number of their baby gear items.  We have a baby shower to attend tomorrow so it was awesome to grab name brand bottles, red cross baby items and a number of other things for 75% off most items.  We also grabbed a huge pork shoulder that we turned into dinner for 24 people last night!  While that was a $20 chunk of meat, getting to open our home to so many and maybe spend $35 total on the meal was a huge joy.  Yet another reason we coupon… so that we can show more hospitality!

In case you are curious we served:

Pork Shoulder Roast, smoked and shredded ($20)
Mashed Potatoes ($3 for 5 lb bag)
Field Peas & Snaps (bought (2) 2 lb frozen bags for $2 ea. a few weeks ago)
Fruit Salad ($10 for strawberries, blueberries & pineapple)
Brownies (2 boxes for $1 ea. on sale)

I had a competitor coupon for $4 off $20 in produce and meat.
