I had the joy of shopping with Fox Carolina this week with a goal of getting most everything for Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a blast and my first live TV moment.  We shopped the entire news hour with them coming back to us throughout the broadcast.  You can watch the grand finale, but I’ll just tell you too.

Bi-Lo:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $127.72
Total Spent: $20.33
Total Saved: $108.59 or 85%

I also got a $2 off Catalina and $4 off a tank of gas in fuel perks! This was an awesome trip, but it was also very planned to only included some of the best deals that week.  I did have to run out to the store for a few more items to do the rest of our cooking that wasn’t so free.  Have you seen the price of pecans recently??

Publix:
Total Before Sales and Coupons: $39.84
Total Spent: $26.55
Total Saved: $13.69 or 33%

This was pecans, sweet potatoes, squash, cheese, brown sugar and creole seasoning (for the turkey we are frying).

How as your shopping this week, leave a link or a comment!

      Great job Jenny!

Yes, Jenny pecans are $10. and $11. per lb.  Just glad I have some in my freezer since I have 15 pecan trees and no pecans on them this year.  I try to save all I can on the good years but the rest of the time all their good for is picking up limbs everytime you mow the grass.

    • Heater1212

Great job, Jenny! Congrats on your big debut! :)

    • How fun! Congrats on the big debut! :)

    • Erinbgreenway

Saw you on there!! Your hair looked cute!! The BiLo on Pelham seemed like a great store.

Wow, you did such a great job that I think more people will want to start saving with coupons! Congrats!

    • Erindurkee

I enjoyed seeing this! Great job, Jenny!

    • Jen

That was a fun video! Great job, Jenny! Wonderful TV moment : )

    • Faith

I went shopping at publix and spend $101 and save $162. I have everything I need for my Thanksgiving dinner now!  I was very lucky to have free pecans from the yard  :)

    • Nancy

Loved the video, Jenny!  Pecans at Kroger are $6.99 for 12 oz., making them  $9.32/lb.  Yikes!  Rather than the traditional pecan pie for Thanksgiving, I’m making another family favorite, German Chocolate Pie, that uses fewer pecans along with chocolate chips and coconut.

I love that you are very REAL in relaying your shopping experiences… for instance, letting us all know that you had to go back for another trip to pick up things that would have made your total higher in the end. Still awesome deals but a realistic portrayal – not just for show! Thanks for that… and for everything else. It was a great week at Publix this week!

    • Shannon

I saw you on the news the other night Jenny–it was exciting because I feel like I know you and its always fun to see someone you “know” on tv! I did pretty good this week at Bi-Lo…would’ve done better if I didn’t have the assignment to make the pecan pie this year though!

    • Blairford

Great job Jenny! Thanks for all you do.

    • Littlerubyslipper

Awesome! Thank you! I live on this website! Im recently unemployed and have saved SOOO much because of you and people like you! Thanks!

    • Nikki Smith

      Jenny,
Could you give the actual lists (and coupon match ups) for both of your trips mentioned here? I think that would be super helpful:)

    • cindharb

Great job Jenny.  Thank you for setting an example on television [as well as in all the other ways you do it] of couponing that involves a grocery load that can produce actual meals rather than the extreme nonsense with hundreds of packs of gum and shampoo.

    • Jessicacushion

I went to Publix and spent $22.75 and saved $47.59. I got 4 V8- Fusion’s, 2 salads, 2 Sargetto Shredded Cheese, 2 Breakstone’s Sour Cream, 2 Crisco Sprays, 4 packs of Vanity Fair Napkins, 4 Uncle Bens Rice, and one pack of Oscar Meyer Bacon.

i went to publix as sick as i am with my husbands help (bad idea spent more) but i got two turkeys and all my coupon items and a few extra paying 91.88 with a saving of 133.34. my cupboard is stocked full, now its time to give to the food bank.

i would like for everyone to know that all your expired coupons and the ones you do not use should be donated to your local american legion or VFW. they send these coupons over seas to military familes and they let them use them even if they are expired(no more than 6 months) please help our soliders and their families check your local clubs and see if anyone in your area is doing it, if not it will only take a few minutes and a few dollars to mail them yourself.  They are OUR MILITARY FAMILIES. Thank you for caring.

I was at Bi-Lo tonight and my total before savings was 60.78.  I paid 18.17 oop.  I am very pleased with the savings. :)

At Publix tonight we spent 89.57 and saved 125.22.  There was 21.14 worth of items I did not have a coupon for, that’s what I get for taking hubby with me!  lol  All in all it was still a good trip.  I shopped at the new Publix in Cane Bay and was extremely happy they had everything in stock that I had on my list!

you weren’t kidding about pecans!  I bought up sugar, butter and brown sugar when they were on sale the last couple of weeks, though the publix where i shop was out of the vanilla deal.  still, i almost choked on the price of pecans!  $4.60 for barely a cup down here in s. florida!

    • Destiny691966

I had a great week at publix, I got over $200 dollars worth of products and only paid a little over $50 for it all. I love Publix and Jenny you are the best!!

    • Annette Daffin

Thank you Jenny, for putting all of this together to help the rest of us save money too!

    • Ciji

Every year I make pecan pies for my family and some of my friend’s families (about 4 pies a Thanksgiving) This year I can only afford to make 1 maybe 2. Im so sad, I love making them and giving them as a gift, but $10 per pound when they’re on sale!!! Thats just crazy talk!

    • Anita

I saw you on TV the night it aired and you did an excellant job showing view how to save money using coupons. I look your web and thanks for all you do to help us save money, Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family

    • Asteff

Just watched the video and have a question. My Bi-Lo does the fuelperks on what I actually pay, not what the total is before coupons… Are you sure that’s right?
