Target is entering the digital download world, with a new service called Target Ticket.  Their prices per movie are a bit high, but… they are offering 10 FREE movies when you create a new account.

Heads up: To get the free movies you will need to enter a payment method.  As long as you stick to your free movies there are no charges, so basically you can set up the account watch your movies and then close your account.  You would only be charged if you watched any other movies.

The free 10 movies are from a preselected list of titles (30 choices in all).  Most of them are older movies, though I checked and none of them were free on Amazon Prime and most of them weren’t even available on Netflix.  So you can have a throwback date night and watch some of the 90’s best movies for FREE.  (There are a few 80’s movies in there too – like Crocodile Dundee.)

Are the ten free movies rentals that have a time limit or “purchases” that we’ll get to keep from now on? Thanks!

      • tori729

I believe they just stay on your account for as long as you have the account.

    • tnt

How do you find the free movies once your account is set up?

    • Tammy

not the best movie selection. Very old movies.

      • hazybuck

But some of these are CLASSICS!!

    • tori729

How do you stream them? I don’t think we can do it with our Wii can we?

      • Spanky

I don’t think there’s a client planned for the Wii. You can stream them to a PC or Mac, though. I would strongly suggest picking up a Roku, though. We have three in our house, and couldn’t be happier with the tiny device! If you sign up and get the movies, they are yours, so it makes sense to take advantage of the offer, even if you don’t have the means to stream the content immediately.

        • tori729

I’ve thought about getting a Roku but we only have one tv so there’s no need for another streamer. However, like you said, if the movies are mine I might as well get them!

Once you sign up with one of these services and connect it your Ultraviolet account, any service which has ultraviolet will be able to see those movies. Here is a list: http://www.uvvu.com/partners.php
Are any of these accessible by Wii?

        • Agnes1981

You can watch movies on VUDU (computer/or if u got smart TV like VIZIO)
you have to connect your Ultra Violet account to Vizio
same with Target Ticket you will b asked if u got and want to link our UltraViolet account
so it’s nice to get 10 extra free movie to my way over 150 free movies on VUDU:))
(you get 5 movies when you open VUDU and 10 when open UltraViolet-as I remember right, then if you havemany DVD’s you can transfer them to VUDU at Walmart I did so with over 150 dvds and I happen to have many coupons so I got all for FREE, then here and there I buy just UV code and enjoy all my movies on my TV:))
Target Ticket had couple of sales recently, also if you pay with your Target card u get %5 off

        THANK YOU!!

We’re HUGE movie buffs, so this seemed like an attractive offer at first. However, thanks to Y-O-U, I now know it’s not a good deal (even at free) for us since we own almost all of these.

Again, thank you for the time saver!!!

    • Meredith

It is a big trick. You have to give your credit card info to get your ten movies (and you don’t see what they are at first and assume they are the new hits they are showing you in the page). Then you see the crappy old movies. I called and asked to have my credit card info refused. Want 10 free old movies? Go to the library instead of giving away your credit card #.

    • TrollHunter

Grrrrrrr I, for some reason expected more from Target. Very disappointed! I can pick ten movies from a list of 28 movies . . . gee, thanks! GREAT way to launch a new service Target; by irritating a large percentage of interested customers! My prediction = FAIL.

Hi, contacted target Ticket Customer service for support with my account and spoke with the supervisor on the floor Jose Venture and was the most rude person i could ever spoke with, no education or information about your own system? really? then told me that he works for rovi corp and he only supports the player, so that he did not care about how much i spent or will spend on the site because anyways he will be still getting paid by rovi…really??? i dont care how supervisors gets paid but how do i get assistance on my issues on the site that you are supporting. Once you get to an agent that has no clue about anything dont dare to get higher support since higher support is even worst and cursed you out without giving no cares about anything…

        • TrollHunter

I hope you reported him to Target HQ!
