awesome! i just sent my request. thanks for sharing.

      • momto2boys

I'm not sure if you noticed the date, you have to do it on the 11th at 1259 pm

        • randi

It states ” between April 8, 2010 and April 11, 2010 at 11:59:59 pm ” not just on the 11th…

          • momto2boys

            OOPS…..boy I totally read that wrong…Sorry :(

    • soonerchick

I just sent mine as well. Thanks!

    • audrey

Me thinks this is a scam. My email came back as undeliverable.

      • amillee

You don't email them… you send a “Request for Cash” using the PayPal app on your phone. I just did it and it went through… not sure if I'm in the first 4,000, but it went through fine. :) Good luck!

        • Mary

It goes through, but then a few secs later you get an email that says undeliverable. I know you don't email them, but you send a request to an email address linked to the acc you request money from. Same thing when sending money. :)

I called Paypal and they are looking into it. The lady I talked to said she didn't see any offers like that and will find out more and email me back in about 30 mins. I will update with what she says.

    • Mark

People are so scared of scams these days. If you send a money request through the OFFICIAL paypal app to an email adress AT PAYPAL.com, how exactly do you think a “scammer” would be getting your information?

    • lanakala1969

This only seems to work on iphone/ipod touch.. I couldn't get it to work on my Blackberry..

      • Leah L.

It looks like the Iphone is the only one with the request money app. Too bad Blackberry is not supported yet.

      • Tylisa

Yep – everyone is right. Only the iPhone app has the “request” feature. BB and Android do not. It's ok…I still love my Backflip with the Android OS

    • denise

my email came back undeliverable also. did anyone verify this with paypal?

      • Mary

I called. Lady said she didn't see or know of any offers like that right now, but will look into it and email me in 30mins or so.

    • jaime

Blackberry App does not have a request option. Seems like lots of people are having issues. Oh well.

    • MrsBubba

Woohoo! I got this one…at least I hope I'm one of the first 4000. Rockin'!

    • Brittaney_Rawdon

Whats the latest version. I have 1.1.3 on an android phone. I dont see an option to do this. Any tips?

    • lovingmybabygirl

      My email came back too.

      • lovesavingmoney

Mine just came back.. Said unknown address.. I am going to change my password just incase.

    • Carla

My request went through on iPod touch with the Paypal app but I got an “undeliverable” email sent back to my email addy. It also does not show as a request on my paypal account when I log into it online. Hope its not a scam either.

    • alissabeth

Kind of interesting that the Facebook page isn't the logo of Paypal….plus on the Paypal website, they only say that you can send money AND request money for iphone.

      • rae

Yes, the logo mismatch was a red flag for me, too!

    • lovingmybabygirl

From what I have been reading, the IPhone seems to be the only one with the “request money” option. So sending an email is not going to work. You must be able to request money. My Blackberry does not have that option.

    • rae

This smells like a scam – any SouthernSavers have verification yet? I treat my PayPal account like Ft. Knox!

    • Dana Hall

I have an HTC Droid Eris through Verizon. I simply downloaded the free Paypal app from the marketplace and sent money in the amount of $5 to the email listed and it work perfectly well for me.

      • Mary

I bet it's a scam and they want you to accidentally send $5 to them rather than request it.

    • Angie

I just tried this from my iTouch with the PayPal Mobile app and I also got an e-mail back from PayPal indicating that 'cashback@paypal.com' is not a valid e-mail address. I called PayPal and asked them to look into this. The person I spoke with is going to follow up with their marketing department to determine if this is a valid promotion or not and get back to me this evening.

    • alissabeth

I emailed the link to the Paypal Spoof department and they said it is a phishing scam.

      • lovesavingmoney

the good thing is you can always close your account and open a new one.. problem solved.

    • Holly

If this is for real, I think it is silly! IMHO, if you can afford an iphone, droid, etc., you don't NEED $5 cash…Save it for those of us who can't afford a cell phone!!

    • I called PayPal after getting an email back saying no email address existed. They have had a lot of calls about this and don't know anything about it.

    • BlessedinSC

Jenny, I bought the PayPal $5 “gift cards” from Swagbucks at your suggestion but now I don't know how to “retrieve” them?

      • alissabeth

You'll receive an email in about 14-21 days. Go look under the paypal gift card and at the bottom it has retrieval/timing instructions. :-)

    • dealfinder86

With so many people having iphones/blackberries, I think Southern Savers needs to develop an app! It would be awesome to make your grocery shopping/coupon list while on the go :)

    • soonerchick

The money will be deposited around the 16th of April.

    • lovesavingmoney

Just thought I would give an update. I recieved an email this morning from “paypal” it looked fishy to me so I sent it to paypal to ask if it was real. I also deleted my banking information from that card. And I am going to close it.
