It’s spring, and that means that it’s time to pick a weekend and get to walking for a good cause.  Walks and races are trendy lately with a different cause every weekend.  One of the walks we try to do every year (and a walk that has been around since we were all little before they were trendy) is the March of Dimes.

Nine years ago this weekend two little girls joined our family and without incubators and research that had already been done I have no doubt that one of my girls wouldn’t be here today.  She wasn’t ill, just super tiny.  There are millions of other parents in our shoes too.  We depend on technology being there when we need it, but in reality someone had to do the research to create it.

Head over and see if there is a walk in your area. The one in our city is just two weeks away!

This is a great cause that is very close to my heart as the mother of two little boys that were born early. My first little boy was a micro preemie and only lived two hours. My second son was born prematurely at 34 weeks and weighed 4 lbs. He’s now 6 ft. tall, weighs 165 lbs. and is a blessing from God. He is an excellent student, Eagle Scout, Master 4-Her,competitive swimmer, baseball player and just an all-around nice kid. The work of the March of Dimes helps to insure that all preemies have a successful outcome. Please support this wonderful charity.

Don’t want to start a big online argument about this, but for those who care about this issue, please be aware that March of Dimes supports Planned Parenthood.

The March of Dimes supports research that saves the lives of preemies. I’ve lived through both options: having to bury a son born too soon and have the joy of seeing another son in the NICU incubator and being able to bring him home from the hospital, tiny but healthy. I’m thankful for those who support these little ones in NICUs throughout our country. I will continue to support the March of Dimes so other mothers don’t have to experience going home from the hospital with empty arms.
