I can’t think of a better company to celebrate Valentine’s Day with than Hallmark.  They have so many great gifts and cards to show someone you’re thinking of them.  Have you heard of their new Blooming Expressions?  It’s a really fun flower that blooms every time you press the button and it reveals a message to you.  They have different messages and flowers so you can choose which Blooming Expression fits your loved one best.  We were sent one of these as a present recently and my three year old thinks that it’s her flower.  She carries it all over the house making it bloom and un-bloom (she also gets a bit protective if someone else tries to do it).

Another idea is the awesome Hallmark Recordable Storybooks.  I know I shared these with you over Christmas, but they have titles perfect for Valentine’s day too!  If you give Valentine’s Day gifts to your children – this would be a great gift!  With books like Under the Same Moon and Love You Forever, this would be such a fun Valentine’s Day activity.  You can all record the book together!  They are also something that you will cherish forever.  So far we have two books recorded by great grandparents and I keep them under lock & key so that we can hear those voices forever.

Lastly forget about Hallmark’s Greetings.  They have some fun new designs like Star Wars and Disney Princesses – you can even upload photos to the cards to make them more personal!

It’s not too late to order your gifts.  If you order by tomorrow, 2/11, you’ll still receive your Valentine’s in time!  Even better, Hallmark is offering 30% off orders of $10 or more right now with the code VAL30 at checkout!

The Giveaway:

Hallmark is giving away 2 Recordable Storybooks and one Blooming Expression Rose!

The 2 winners of the Storybook will be able to choose from the titles: Counting Kisses, Love you Forever, All the Ways I Love You, Under the Same Moon.

My sweetest Valentine memory is when my husband was overseas with the
military and had his family surprise me with a valentine spa day
complete with roses. I didn’t get to hear from him much and I did not
expect anything for Valentine’s day. What a sweet surprise!

8 years ago we decided to become a dog family and knew we wanted a miniature dachshound. After several phone calls to breeders we found one that had one male puppy left from a litter and we could pick him on Valentine’s Day. He’s very sick right now and we’re not sure if he’s gonna make it but we won’t ever forget that V-Day and all the loving memories since then!!

My first Valentine’s Day as a married woman was 11 years ago, and I took my husband to the lake for a Blindfold Beach Buffet.  I had him try all kinds of foods, and he tried to identify each one and tell me whether or not he liked it.  When he was done, we had a picnic on the beach with all our favorites. :)

    • Kat175

On Feb 14, 2003, I was home alone with a 3-day-old son. I had just had an emergency c-section, didn’t know what I was doing, and was frankly depressed. Everyone told me how much I would love this baby and I felt nothing. I was trying to get my son to stop crying when out of nowhere, he moved his whole body and flopped his mouth from my shoulder right onto my cheek and back. It felt just like he intentionally gave me a kiss.  Everything changed for me and my first son in that moment! Two additional boys later and I am one blessed momma!

    • Sheenabsb

The year my boys made me homemade cards, adorable!!!

    • gilleansm

My oldest son (14) and I have a challenging relationship. He has ADHD and recently, just a month ago, I found out that he lives with Asperger Syndrome. Of the many issues that those with Asperger Syndrome face, he has a very hard time understanding, interpreting and expressing emotions.

Imagine loving someone but not knowing that it was love and wondering what in the world was going on with your own mind and body.

Another thing sometimes associated with Asperger Syndrome is that the person finds it difficult and even uncomfortable to look directly into someone’s eyes. They find it aggravating and even distracting to look and talk to someone at the same time.

With this little bit, maybe you can see that sharing emotions and knowing what and how he feels is like putting pieces of a puzzle together. We work on the daily puzzle and I hope I know what he meant before we go to bed.

Following my divorce and moving into an apartment, things were even more challenging. But after two years in the apartment he shared his love in a beautiful way one Valentine’s Day.

Though he is not comfortable with expressing his feelings with words, he built a motorized Lego toy. This was not from a kit. He used Legos that he had in various containers and came up with his own design.

It was in the shape of the first letter of my first name. “G.” He somehow devised a battery pack and connection so that the “G” was able to move and roll around when turned on.

Love is given and shown in so many unique and beautiful ways. This particular Valentine’s Day, I received his love in an extraordinary creation.  It was like watching a beautiful flower bloom fully for a precious moment in time :)

    • Treesta

My sweetest Valentine’s Day was last year. I had to work all day teaching little kids soccer so I was exhausted by the time I got home. My husband had a more mellow day and decided to cook me dinner. He didn’t just cook me any dinner, he cooked me steak! It was fantastic! Best of all, he surprised me with a homemade edible arragement complete with chocolate covered strawberries. To top it all off he gave me a back massage. It was a GREAT evening!

    • Jessica

My favorite valentines day was the first year my son was old enough to make me a homemade card all by himself, that was really special

    • Taclark97

    • Jean

My first Valentines Day as a mom when my husband showed up up flowers for our little girl and for me! So sweet, melted my heart!

    • Jenstork

My sweetest Valentine’s Day memory isn’t with a boyfriend or my husband, it’s with my gramma.  I was closer to her, than anyone else in my entire life.  On Valentine’s Day the year before she died, we had a Happy Meal lunch together, and played with the toys inside for hours.  We acted like kids, and had a wonderful day together.  THAT is love, to me!  Simple, sweet and innocent.

    • Meghan Smith

My favorite Valentines Day was in 2010.  I had been in a very unhealthy relationship for years and days prior to Valentines decided that I wasn’t going to take anymore.  It was a very hard move and I felt terrible and free at the same time.  On Valentines Day, I took my son to Dunkin Doughnuts and we ate then went to a park nearby where we played for hours.  Time seemed to slip away and day turned to night.  It was that instant that I realized the most important lesson my recent decision. What I needed was with me the entire time; strength, love and hope.  My child was 5 years old at the time, and he gave me everything I needed to go on.  I’m as happy as ever being single and can’t imagine life without this much needed change.

    • CTaylor

My hubby proposed to me on February 13th.  So Valentine’s Day was TONS of fun telling all our family about our engagement :)  Then we went to dinner at Atlantic Station in Atlanta.

    • Cmccurry

The year my husband bought me one of the first cell phones. It was one of those big ones that came in a bag and plugged into your lighter.

    • Kunzr82

My mom gave me the book Love You Forever when I was in Kindergarten, we read that book over and over, she would cry and I would not understand why. This year my little boy started kindergarten I plan to pass my book on to him. I already cry when I read it, it would be great to have the recordable one so my mom could still read it to me!!

    • Floydsmama

Nothing to do w/ Valentine’s Day, but the recordable books are incredible.  Knowing I was losing Dad to lung cancer, I bought two of them and had him record those for my children.  What a precious gift they had to open on Christmas………7 months after Grandpa had said goodbye.  Highly encourage anyone with children to do the same.  I find myself pulling them off the shelf just to hear Dad’s voice.

      • gccsmom

Pull them out & listen often.  I lost my mom when I was 14 and I am
50 now.  I came across a cassette tape that had her voice on it and
listened to it quite a while after she had died.  Her voice sounded so
strange to me, as though it were someone I never knew.  Through the
years you lose the familiar sound you may think that you never will.
You have preserved a great memory!

    • Theresa Whipple

The 1st Valentine’s with our son, my husband planned a dinner at home for the two of us, With little money he fixed my favorite chicken strips (Tyson but still yummy). He called and mapped where I was to make sure the meal was prepared at the perfect time.  I had know idea and it was a great thoughtful surprise.

    • lisa

I grew up on the poor side, (still not rich financially-LOL), but I still remember Valentine’s days in elementary school….getting to make paper bag holders at school….after picking out the valentines at the store, I would sit at my little kid-size folding table in our small living room and hand pick/label a valentine for each of my classmates.   Memories :)

When I was a little girl my daddy always bought me a heart with chocolate candy in it for Valentines.  I always thought it was so sweet because he would take the time to pick out something that was girly just for me.  As an adult there are a lot of things that we miss from our childhoods and I am thankful that my daddy still does this.  He will call me up on Valentines and say “I got some sweetie for my sweetie, when can we meet up?”  I look forward to it every year!

    • Missriza

    • Karen

My husband isn’t a real “Hallmark holiday” kind of guy but he knows that I am. Our first Valentine’s Day as a married couple he bought my favorite chocolate (Rolos) and a mushy card that spoke more eloquently than he felt he could. Love him!!

    • Mommyking

One year my hubby gave me a pill bottle with special instructions to take one pill a week.  Inside he had written different “prescriptions” and rolled them inside pill capsules.  Some of them were for a night at the movies, a picnic, a bubble bath with candles…just for me…  :0), he would cook dinner, he would dust.  This was so creative and time consuming.  I am still impressed with how sweet and thoughtful this was and am so thankful for 10 amazing years with him.

    • Holly

My husband and I started dating when I was 14 years old.  On our first Valentine’s Day I was eager to make it very special.  I wanted to make him homemade sugar cookies and decorate them.  My mother encouraged me to do slice and bake cookies because it would be a lot easier, but I was adamant about doing everything from scratch.  Well, that was a mistake.  They were horrible and tasted like flour.  He acted like they were good but I know they weren’t!  Time went on and we got married, moved into our first home and found a box that was filled with what looked like a big ball of clear plastiic.  We unwrapped it and found the cookies.  Ten years later, he still had them.  And still does!

May favorite Valentine’s Day was before my husband and I got married.  He took me on a mystery drive about 30 minutes from our home and we ended up canoeing in a local river (we live in FL) and stopped halfway through for a picnic lunch.  I was a little concerned about the alligators but they didn’t bother us – thank goodness.

My sweetest Valentines Day memory… My husband had forgotten several valentine’s days and last year he made up for it. He actually went shopping himself and got the biggest juiciest strawberries, melted the chocolate himself and made me a huge batch of chocolate dipped strawberries. He knows my weakness for chocolate! They were beautiful and delicious! Something I’ll never forget because he took the effort to do it himself :)

There were 7 kids in my family.  Every year, my mom would hide a box of chocolates for each of us.  She would then compose 5 clues – in the form of a poem.  She would hide 4 of them and start us off with one.  The first one would lead to the second clue, etc until we found our candy!  I miss those days!

    • Stacie

My sweetest valentine memories are always the handmade ones from my children.

I was a freshman in high school when I had my first boyfriend.  He went to a different school than I did but when I got to school that morning and opened my locker it had a huge stuff bear, tiny pearl earings, and pink roses inside.  I later found out that he cut grass all summer to make money and buy them for me.  Ahh, to be young again.  Still the most romantic thing a guy has ever done for me and I’m now 30 :-/

When I was younger, my Dad always left 5 heart-shaped boxes for me and my siblings to open that morning since he left for work at 5 AM.  Each one always had chocolates and a handwritten note for us. :)

    • Shopaholic_704

The first time I ever placed a valentines card and a heart-shaped chocolate in my sons lunchbox as a surprise! He was in 2nd grade, and he came home with a big smile and I could tell he felt extra special that day :)

    • Stacey

Dinner and candy from the guy i love

    • lwb

My sweetest Valentine memory would be my 2 nephews calling me to tell me they love me.

    • Jennifer

Dinner and flowers from my husband : )

    • SmoochTheCook

Oooh, this one is easy and fun to tell…makes me feel so young and giggly all these years later.  Being overweight, 6th grade (a brand new school since middle school starts in 6th grade) was intimidating.  I certainly didn’t imagine gaining anyone’s adoration!  But, on V-tine’s Day, I got 3 Hallmark cards (not the little cards you pull apart and write names on…haha!) from 3 different boys, 4 carnations (which the show choir sold for a fundraiser every year), and 2 teddy bears.  So, that was a total of 4 boys…I ended up dating one of them for the following 6 years…all of which weren’t like the dating years these days.  That was 21 years ago.  This

    • SmoochTheCook

Sorry, my computer is messing up.  This year, and the past 8, I’ve been single after a long, disasterous marriage.  Would love to have even 1 admirer come out of the shadows…haha!

    • Suzy

I was 14 or 15 and had been with my boyfriend about a year. Our school was fundraising by selling carnations with a message for 1$. I didn’t expect one, but received a red one with the message I love you. That was my 1st flower from him and I still have 1 pressed petal and the note saved. That was 13 years ago and we’ve been married 5 years now!

    • lauren

My husband had a bunch of balloons, flowers, and a cookie cake waiting for me in my car when i got off work on valentines day one year. He even bought me new tennis shoes..which he spent all day in the mall trying to pick out. Just the time he spent meant more than anything.

    • Mel

My single friends and I used to wear black every Valentine’s Day in opposition to the holiday, so my best one was when I finally had that special someone in my life.  Although we still don’t really celebrate on that day… he’d rather give me flowers or something on a day when he doesn’t “have to.”    But we enjoy spending time together even though it’s not about the commercialized stuff.

    • Ken

Spending the whole day with my two boys and wonderful wife.  We don’t really do anything that special, it’s just the time we spend together.

    • Carrell shivers

i remember as a child, my mom helping me pick out lots of different candy that we put in a box and wrapped to give to my elementary school boyfriend.

    • Connie

My sweetest Valentine memory would have to be the first time my son made me a Valentine.

    • Sharyn

I sent a card to a non-boyfriend male friend and he called and said it made his day and was the only Valentine he received that year. I have sent him one every year since!

    • Robinshook

I was sent roses in high school and never found out who sent them. I always wonder every Valentine’s Day.  Also my three year o;d cut me a heart and gave it to me the other day–priceless!!!!

    • A couple of years ago, I went out of town to go to my Nephews birthday party. My boyfriend could not come due to work and school. I came home on Valentine’s evening and he had made a candelight dinner for me  and had flowers on the table.. But the best most romantic part… the rose petals he had sprinkled all over the bed ;)

    • Lizashan1024

My Dad would always send me flowers when I was young. Now, 10 years later, I always remember that. He passed away last year but I will always remember the good things!

    • Campbelltwinsx2

My sweetest valentine’s moment was after my second set of twins was born.  My husband picked out a ring for me and then had the “boys” pick out earrings to match.  Each one made a mark on the card “they” got for me.

    • alycewa09

Three years ago on Valentines day I was waiting for my boyfriend at his mamaws house. He had gettn off work at 5pm and i say and waited until 9pm for him to get back… It was taking forever, and honestly I was getting exteremly agrevated. When he finally showed up he didnt act very interested in talking to me at all… He said he wanted to talk to me and took me into his bedroom. I really thought we were breaking up. Then he pulled a small pink box out of his pocket and said “Happy Valentines”. When i opened the box, there was a single heart shaped piece of chocolate with a heart shaped diamond ring in it. Then he asked me to marry him. I was so overwhelmed all i could do was Shakespeare my head yes. He didnt know it but i had always wanted a heart shaped diamond. And come to find out the reason he was so late getting back from work was because he had been talking toto my mama and daddy asking them if he could marry me. Weve been married almost three years now. But that day will always be special to me because it was the day i decided ‘yes’ i would marry my soul mate and best friend. Valentines day had never been a big deal to me until that year <3

    • Sweetk3346

My favorite valentine’s memory is reading previous love notes with my sweetheart. We write very silly notes with hilarious nicknames!

    • Mlkdivine3

My sweetest Valentine’s memory setting up a scavenger hunt for a guy I was dating with Hershey’s kisses, I love being creative and making others feel special.

    • Amanda

When I was growing up…we would come home from school on Valentine’s Day, and my mom would always have some balloons, a stuffed animal, & candy waiting for us on our bed.

    • Pricelessconcept

My sweetest Valentine’s memory was last year.  We’ve had a hard couple of years financially.  My husband became disabled and I am in sales.  Times were hard to say the least and we had already discussed that we didn’t have money even for cards.  So, as depressing as it seemed, we got up and went on with our day, I went to work and he stayed at home with our 9 month old.  When I came home from work that day, he had made me the most beautiful card from him and another from my 9 month old son.  I was in tears and loved  it.  As I went to the bedroom to change my clothes and get comfy and found two dozen handmade roses from my husband and my son.  Needless to say, it was so sweet and i will never forget it.  Actually, I don’t think it can ever be topped.

    • Tina

Being a secret admirer to my teenage first love & kept it going for 3 weeks!

    • Reneepollock

My son pointed to my key necklace and said I have the key to his heart!

    • Nwbcatering

Sad but true, I have never had a Valentine that was to rememeber at 47. One day I will lol

    • Dkshipp57

Well I’ve been married for 31 yrs. Hard to remember He was great not sure if VD or other Day he got a cracker jack box back when they had prizes he got one of those and heart chocolate candy from Russ. Stof. Beautiful box I still have and bring out every year CJ box look like it had never been open I didn’t open for a few days inside was a diamond ring. How he kept he’s mouth shut about it and how he got it in there still amazzes me. I want them to have right then. I was wonderfully shocked
But not long into our marriage as frugal as I am. I told him to please wait until after that way everything will be on sale. And we didn’t go out to dinner on that night either to beat the crowd we would go before or after

    • Jennifersanchezobama

I have been single on every single valentine’s day for my entire life so the sweetest memory I have is my mom buying me some sympathy valentines candy so I would feel less pathetic

    • JPBMC

As a little girl growing up, my neighbor used to buy a small heart shaped box of candy every year for me because she had no little girls and always wanted one.  She would always have her son bring it over, which he happily did until I was 12 (and he was 21).  That always made me feel so special and important.  I will never forget the kindness of either of them.

    • LFerguson

Every year, my mother would always put together a little “Valentines bag” for each of us kids. It was nothing fancy, usually some candy and maybe some stickers and pencils (or similar items). I know there were years that money was definitely tight, but my mom always managed to give us some token or two on Valentine’s Day. To this day, when February 14th comes around, I always think of my Mom and Dad and how much they had done for us children to make sure we had everything needed and then some. This is what love is to me.

    • CarolB

My husband bought me a bouquet of flowers for my birthday when we were first married and had little of anything.  He got an artist to take a photo of the
flowers and the next Valentines he presented me with a gorgeous pastel
painting of those flowers so I would always have them.  We will have been
      married 47 years this April.

    • suslvberg

My husband and I took a weekend trip out of town.  Took a tour and then dinner and overnite at a hotel.  Awaken the next morning to snow covered ground and then on to the next town for shopping.

When my husband was deployed to Iraq, he took the time to have a cookie bouquet delivered to me. Different, delightful, thoughtful. He’s still the love of my life.

    • Melissam0202

Last year my fiance was in Afghanistan but he made sure to send me a gift and flowers, and I could not open the gift until we were on Skype together.  It was awful that he was gone, but it made it very sweet that he went to so much trouble to be there for me…

    • Sharon

Vday is my hubby’s birthday so the kids and I make sure to do and bake his favorite things to make the day special for him.

    • Esyke623

My favorite Valentine’s Day memory, I think, would be this one.  I am 9 months pregnant, nauseated, miserable, and swollen.  I never sleep and sometimes just cry from the pain.  The other day, my husband (who has trouble “cooking” a pop tart ;) brought home a meal and a dozen red roses.  He told me I looked beautiful.  Gifts from the heart are always the best :)

my sweetest memory is actually the day AFTER Valentines Day… when I met my hubby on a blind date 21 years ago!  I love Valentine’s Day each year because it reminds me of the best thing that ever happened to me… the day after :)

    • Melissa

Every Valentine’s Day is special.  The kids and I make a big deal by making special cards (they are always special ;-)   ) with the kids, baking together and making a special dinner together.  DH always comes home with candy and stuffed animals for the kids and candy and flowers for me.  We look forward to i!

    • Peggy

I drove a school bus when I was in the 12th grade ( back then they let high school students drive them) I was so surprised when several of the little boys gave me the sweetest  valentines. I was 17 and had not receive valentines in school for several years. I still have the valentines today and I am 56 years old. It still brings a smile to my face to think about them and to hold them .

    • TN Mom

I have many great V-day memories! More recently, I received a V-day card from my 70-year-old dad in the mail. I’m a married mother with children so this was so unexpected and cute. I live my parents!! Thanks for considering me!

    • Teach_ashlee

I’m loving the new memories we’re making this year with our sons (ages 2 & 4).  We have a Valentine mailbox on our mantle.  Every morning my 4-yr-old checks to see if the flag is up on the mailbox, because that means there is a surprise inside.  My boys have loved it!  They get so excited each morning, whether they receive a small treat, stickers, or a little craft to do.

    • debber

When I was in Jr. High School, I felt goofy, awkward, and terribly unattractive.  I had no boyfriend and we were too old to have the Valentine’s exchange at school.  I took this day seriously, and was quietly despondent over the fact that no boy would ever love me.  I said nothing to my family as you didn’t talk about these things.
When I came home from (a terrible day at) school, there were flowers waiting for me at the door.  I had NEVER received flowers in my life.  They had been delivered by a florist, and were from my father, who lived 1000 miles away, and was not one for extravagent gifts.  I have no idea how he knew that I was “suffering” from the puberty blues, but he made me feel like the most special girl in the world.  I will never forget that.

    • AudraB

I really love these Hallmark books and would love to have one for my son; however, I can’t think of a good Valentine’s Day memory and can’t justify making one up just to enter the giveaway.  :(

    • Lorrie

I was engaged on Valentines Day 24 years ago. At a busy stoplight in Raleigh, NC. Not romantic, but every time I go thru that intersection in Raleigh, I think of that sweet day.

    • Scsoup99

The second date with my husband was on Valentine’s Day!  We went to  see Alan Jackson in concert…that was 14 years ago!

    • Hannah

Valentine’s is not usually a big deal around our house, but my sweetest memory was my second Valentine’s with my husband. Jordan picked up sushi from my favorite Japanese restaurant and bought the movie “Becoming Jane”. Even though he doesn’t really like sushi and had no interest in seeing the movie, he bought it because he knew I would love it! He set up candles and the sushi on our coffee table and we had movie night at home! What thoughtful Valentine he always is!

Valentines Day 2005- This was the first Valentines Day with our 8yr old adopted son. He made me a Valentine in school.  I cried because I had wanted to be a Mommy for so long.  I will always have that Valentine!

      • Kevinstacy

I’m so glad I read you post.  Such a sweet story.  My husband and I are trying to adopt and have waited for some time.  Thank you for your story of becoming a Mommy.  I know that will happen for me too.

    • Kevinstacy

My dad, who is no longer living, gave me a very special Valentine card when I was about eight years old.  I’ve kept it for 37 years.  There’s nothing like reading what he wrote about his special girl.  :)

    • Tinathompson2

Valentine’s Day 2005 when we share it with our little girl Lilly.  We always wanted a child.  We had lost a son in Jan. 2000.  This was a very special miracle to us.  God had blessed us with another chance of being  parents.

My first valentines day with my husband when we were dating.  I had mentioned several months before about getting a new chain for my cross and he remembered and bought me one!

    • Sylvia Hix

My fondest Valentine’s memory was when I was pregnant with my son, and he was supposed to be born on Valentine’s Day.  Hospital was full, so I had to wait till the next day.  My husband brought home a huge box of chocolates and of course  a Hallmark card.  I was kind of mad at him about the chocolates, felt like he was going to make me gain more weight!  But I ate them anyway!

    • Xtremecoupongal

my daughter was born on valentines day and for me it was the best gift we could give each other(my husband and I)

    • AmyQ

My sweetest Valentine’s day moment was my first Valentine’s day with my husband after we were married. I told him that I thought I was pregnant because something “just told me that I was.” I wasn’t late or anything, I just felt it. And so a few days later we took a test, and though I was early (a week or so early) it still showed up as positive! And nine months later, my little Anistin was born! =)

It was so special on that Valentines day because I’ll never forget the look on my husbands face when I told him my suspicions while we were out to eat! He almost choked on his food… maybe I should have waited until after the meal… =) lol

    • Chelsea Daniels

I was so sick I thought I was dying on my first Valentine’s Day with my husband (we had been dating for 6 months at the time). I stayed at home for the days leading up to V-Day but he wanted to see me on the day so I went to his place and he waited on me hand and foot. Such a sweetheart!

    • Luci

I was given a red stuffed dog from my husband for Valentine’s Day after a very rough year. It’s super soft with big floppy ears and legs. It has laid over my head and eyes during naps. When we had a pet, he nibbled away some of the fur. When we had our first child, she brought him to her bed and called it Clifford. We still have that dog and lots of good memories. :)

    • Dolli Taylor

When I was pregnant with our daughter my husband had planned surprise romantic beach picnic because the weather had promised to be fairly warm for February.

It certainly was a surprise when we woke up to 4 inches of snow.  So, he improvised and turned our living room into a picnic, sand and all!

      Best Valentine’s Day ever :-)

    • RebeccaFer

Valentine’s Day is special but I can’t think of one specific memory that stands out. I know receiving little somethings from my daughter always makes me smile and she’s great about making them all the time.

2 years ago my (now husband) was in Afghanistan. he wasnt supposed to be home until march. Valentines day is my favorite holiday of the year so i was bummed we would be spending our 1st one apart. In the mean time we had a thing that he would call me and ask me if i could see the stars and we would compare from across the world <3 i thought it was the sweetest thing. Well the night before valentines day my friends and i had went out. He had called while i was out and asked if we could look at the stars together so i went outside and told him it was too cloudy an i couldnt see any. He told me look for the moon and i looked around i said i dont see it and he said it should be behind you and as i turned around there he was standing right infront of me with roses! UUUGGHH the most romantic night of my life! Like a fairy tale! That wasnt it either. When we went home (to my moms then) my room was filled with balloons and there were rose petals on the bed….Then last year my 1st baby boy was my valentines day present!! This year is going to be hard to top!

My 11 yr old son left me inspirational post-it notes on the bathroom mirror – really deep meanings behind them and totally floored me; had no idea he was so insightful.  They moved me to tears, and are still on the mirror.  :)

This year, making valentines with my little ones. It was wonderful to see them light up excitedly at the thought of sharing the lovingly colored cards with their friends.

    • Aliceneasley

Last year was my daughter’s first Valentine’s Day, and my husband brought us both flowers. Even though she didn’t have a clue, since she was only 5 months old, I thought it was really sweet!!

    • Caseyr1417

My wife was pregnant last Valentine’s day, so I gave her a sweet card from our little one growing inside of her (she cried, of course) and I also gave her a sweet card myself…turns out when I went to work that morning, she had a card in my work truck that was from our little one too (then I cried) So we both got to hear the sweet nothings our little one would be saying to us once he got here. Most memorable Valentine’s day yet!

    • Angela G

my dad gave me a teddy bear and a rose ….and then dedicated a song on the radio to me.. he told the DJ it could be anything…it happened to be “She’s my Cherry Pie” by Warrant!!!!  I remember he didn’t want me to listen to it because the words were not appropriate for a 9 year old!!  Oh well, it was the thought that counted :)

When my boyfriend and I started dating 5 years ago on our first Valentine’s together he made a little picnic for us. He had made me a peanutbutter and banana sandwich(which I LOVE), my favorite kind of chips that I had only mentioned once to him, and some sparkling grape juice. It was colder here so we had it on the floor in my apartment but he had some how set it up with heart candles and flowers! It was great! He still does specially stuff every year but that one was so nice!

    • KSlate456

My Hubby & I spent the whole day in bed. Watching TV, & hanging out chatting. Got a knock at the door the 1st delivery was pizza, got another knock at the door & it was flowers. All of this was preplanned on his behalf, but I honestly thought we were just hanging out which I was happy with also. It was a carefree day to just we spent focusing with each other & no toher worrys ofr out side distractions

    • My daughter Brittany, was born on Valentines day. She has been my valentine for 21 years this Tuesday. Just can’t beat that valentine I tell you.

    • Shannon Page

I know it is cliche’ but my sweetest memory is when my husband asked me to marry him on Valentines day!  That was almost 24 years ago!

    • GAMommyof2

I have two that really stick out for me. The first is the valentines day when an uncle surprised me and a cousin with delivered roses on valentines day letting us know how special we were even without boyfriends to tell us so (this of course was in high school when your biggest hope was to be able to walk around all day with balloon-o-grams or flowers sent by some admirer to show off to your friends), The other of course is my first valentines with hubby when we were just dating. I still have the 5ft teddy bear he gave me and have used it to take pictures of our two girls as they’ve grown. What a huge and special reminder of how this awesome family began. I looooove those pictures. So I would love one of these gifts to be able to capture the voices of my babies at this young age to cherish forever.

    • Mommeyof4

We adopted our precious son and daughter on Valentines day. They were serverely abused and neglected before coming to us and this marked the day they would be loved and cherished forever!

    • amy m

just being a kid and getting all those valentines from my classmates.

    • The first one with my hubby. We were kids and didn’t have anything to our name! Are apartment (1 room), had a lamp, a pillow, 2 plates, 2 forks, and a mattress to sleep on! LOL! OH! and a Captain D’s cup holding the roses that my hubby bought me! ;-)

    • Jenbyrd926

We had been married only 5 months, and my husband had planned for us to go out for dinner on valentines. It had snow the night before and he still put the truck in 4 wheel drive and we went anyway to have dinner and then played in the snow with the truck. A lot of fun.

    • Shadysaver

I’m a teacher, and Valentine’s Day parties on the years I taught first grade were absolutely wonderful!  It’s amazing how thrilled little ones are over a “penny” Valentine card!  Students would read a card, look at the student giving it to him or her, and say THANK YOU like it was the most special thing in the world.  It was priceless!

    • Lila

My first Valentine’s Day with my husband – we went back to the same restaurant where we first met!

    • My first Vday with my husband. He had a rose waiting for me with a note all day long. It was really sweet.

    • Couponbhumi

I had a friend(boy) when I was 17, we were both very sure that we didn’t love each other but also wanted to fit in with the crowds celebrating valentines day. So I asked him to gift me something n he brought me a watermelon. His explaination for that gift was, watermelon is green from outside like our evergreen friendship n it is red from the inside symbolizing the beautiful heart we hold inside.
I thought that was very sweet

Spending hours (at home) decorating a tissue box to take to school the next day in anticipation of exchanging Valentine’s Day cards in elementary school. That would be followed by the excitement of opening each and every little tiny envelope to see the oooooh so cool Valentine’s Day cards that I had received.

    • Tshea1978

My sweetest Valentine memory was when my husband bought me an easter basket for Valentine’s. I collect porcelain dolls and as we all know, stores put out the next holidays stuf before one is even over. Well he saw the porcelain doll in it and didn’t even pay attention to the fact that it was an easter basket so I always tease him about getting his holidys mixed up.

    • Last Valentine’s day with my husband and two precious daughters, my youngest one was 10 days old so we were just out of the hospital and home with the family.

My favorite Valentine’s memory is when my husband surprised me with a day cruise!  It was all set up by him!

    • RachelThompsonNeuenschwander

I would have to say that my sweetest valentines will be this year.  After 14 long years of waiting we finally have a baby girl and she will celebrate her first valentine with us this year and we are so excited.  This will top the year my hubby took me to see River Dance which would be the second best year.

    • Ccryals1

A valentine I received in the first grade…I still have it!

    • Chelle2377

My husband ordered flowers that were delivered to the restaurant during our romantic meal

    • Every year my dad (the sentimental man who never says anything!) would pick out a special valentine for my sister and I and would put a valentine chocolate heart in our lunchboxes as a treat. This is the only time of the year that he did stuff like that.  Even now as an adult, my dad will drive by my house and put a box of chocolates on the front steps for me to discover when I get home.

    • Kim

My husband surprised me greatly one year!! I work at a hospital, 12 hr shifts, came home that valentines day 4 years ago to find a gift bag and card on my pillow….lots of little goodies and a raincheck for dinner!! So sweet and it was definatly the Valentines day I remember most!!

    • Jlbatts2

My sweetest Valentine memory was 5 years ago:  I was pregnant with our first son and teaching.  I was having a difficult pregnancy and experiencing a lot of uncertainty.  That Valentine’s my husband sent me a dozen roses to school , with a note that said “To the 2 most important people in my life.”  It made me cry in front of all my students!

    • Nieves

One of my fondest valentines memory was when my sisters and I sat around the dining room table and my mom poured out packs of assorted valentines day cards and we had our list and dug through the foil and glitter to find the perfect valentine for each of our classmates.

    • Blairs124

My father brought me a precious moments figure home from work one Valentine’s Day… 30 years later, I still have it :).

    • Anna

I have to say mine is not the sweetest, but best memories. My first valentines day with my boyfriend I thought I would be all romantic and fix dinner and light candles. We were having dessert and realized a napkin was on fire trying to get it to the kitchen we caught the carpet on fire. The next year I did the same thing and the candles were in the middle of the table and caught the table on fire. We got married that summer and my husband has taken me out every valentines since then. I guess he’s trying to avoid me catching the house on fire!

    • Renee

My fondest valentine memories were as a child. Every year my dad, who hardly ever expressed emotion, gave me a sweet little sappy card and a heart full of chocolates. I loved it!

    • Lovisa Carlson

When I was a kid my dad would sneak in and put a box of chocolates under my pillow before he left for work in the morning. I don’t know how he did it, but I never woke up and was always surprised in the morning.

    • Cowgurl0520

Last year. My husband kept going to the store and everytime he came back he brought me even more things. He said “I kept seeing things that made me think of you and I thought you had to have them” By the end of the day I had so much chocolet, teddy bears, flowers, and cute little things :)

    • Nanatracy34

My sweetest memory was when my husband lost his job when our children where really little.  They must have be 1 and a couple of months.  He brought home a bunch of roses from a rose bush and a coupon book for different things he would do. Like clean the floor, run a bath when we got one( we only had a shower), make supper, things like that.  He was such a sweetie!

My sweetest valentine was just last year!  My sweet loving husband wanted to take our son and myself out for a dinner and to go shopping.  Little did I know that during this trip my husband would be allowing my 11 year old son to pick me out a new ring!  What an awesome night!

My favorite Valentine memory was my first one with my husband (before we started dating).  He was actually my boss at the time so I wasn’t supposed to even like him.  I drove forty five minutes out of the way just to see him at work and dropped him off Hershey’s Kisses.  Three days later we started dating and I transferred to another store so we could date legally.

    • Erica47

My fondest memories were as a child.  My parents never forgot to get me something special on Valentine’s Day!

    • evedenise

It’s really so hard to say, I have been married to a wonderful giving man for 24 years so each has been special, our children though now grown always went out of their way to make sure it was a special day for the family with homemade cards and treats!!

    • Julie L

I was really pregnant and got spoiled by my husband.

    • Tara

My sweetest memory would probably be a few years ago when I had just gotten out of a long relationship two months prior to valentine’s day. My little brother (at the time he was only 6/7) felt bad that I was single and I wasn’t going out with anyone/getting anything. So he go money from my parents and bought me a dozen roses, then took me out to my favorite restaurant and told everyone that I was his special valentine. He came up with all those ideas on his own without the help of my parents. It was adorable and really sweet – something I will never forget!

    • Alisa

My sweetest Valentine Day memory is the year the man of my dreams got down on one knee and proposed at breakfast.

    • Gmcouponer

My best memories of Valentine’s Day is what my Mom used to do. When she lived every year she got each of her children and grandchildren a small toy and candy with a card. She took her time and picked out 6 candies, 6 gifts, and 6 cards every year. Each remarking on how special each of us was to her in our own special way. In return she always got the biggest heart of candy we could possibly get with the money we pulled together. My dad always got her roses ( her favorite flower !).
She looked like a kid opening up a present every year. I miss seeing her smile over all her gifts. Her sitting there with that giant heart of candy in her lap. Sure we loved the cards and gifts she picked out every year just for us. But I think we enjoyed seeing her with that candy and flowers most of all. I sure miss you Mom…..Love you.

I had pawned my jewelry in the summer. My wedding ring was a part of it. For Vday. My husband got my jewelry back. That was the best Vday I ever had.I thought my jewelry was gone forever. When the house payment has to be paid. You do what you need to do.

    • netniki

My sweetest Valentines Day memory was when I came home from a long day and my husband had a bath drawn with rose petals in the tub, a bottle of sparkling grape juice, and dinner already set on the table for two. This is one of the sweetest memories because my husband rarely cooks and we are usually so busy  with our son, a momemnt of quiet is rare.

    • Mine would be from when I was in elementary school.  The last with my dad before he passed.  He gave us a Disney Movie and a stuffed animal.  I still have that little bear.  :)

    • love2teach2

My sweetest Valentine memory was after we had tried for 4 years to have a child.  Our son was finally born in October and that Februry 14th my husband didn’t buy anything fancy just a beatiful card that told how much he loved and cared for me.

    • Bridget072809

When I was a child my father would buy me little nick-nacks every year and sit them on the kitchen table with a card. I’ll keep them forever.

    • Ashley K

My sweetest Valentine’s memory was Feb 2010.  My hubby left for Basic training for the army on February 8, so I knew Valentine’s would not be very memorable… he wasn’t allowed to use his phone at all, but when Valentine’s day came I had flowers delivered to me at work… :) With card that read “I love you, and cannot wait until we are together again!!” It made my day and I felt like we weren’t 1000 miles apart! <3

    • Sweetpea11_82

One year, back in the late 90’s, my dad sent my sister and I a Valentine’s gift to school. Normally, being a teenager, I would be embarrassed to have had my dad do something like that, but it was a sweet surprise, and I think about it every year when Valentine’s rolls around.

    • Amy11825

My dad always came home with a card and chocolates or flowers for both my sister and I.  He said that he always wanted my sister and I to know that we were special and deserved to have a man treat us well – particularly on Valentine’s Day.

    • Jennifer H.

My sweetest Valentine’s memory, was back when I was in high school and I was dating a college student… He surprised me at school with 2 dozen roses and then picked me up from school…. We went out to his parents house where he had a very romantic dinner planned and afterward we watched some chick flicks, just for me… :)

    • Ballm1

My hubby was in the Air Force. He was deployed for several months that year in “The Desert.” The kids were very young. I was working, going to school, and taking care of the kids alone in Minot, North Dakota. He sent most heartfelt card he had ever given to me. We have been married for 20 years. Every year I take out this card and make him read it, LOL!!! We laugh and kiss at the memory of that crazy year.  Amazing, the power of a Hallmark card!

It is actually this valentines. Two days ago, my husband had a full bouquet of tulips delivered to my door. He was here when they delivered them. The card said that the tulips beauty paled compared to mine. Then when I hugged him and said thank you. He said, “no way I was going to forget Valentines day”.
It was so sweet I cried. I have never had flowers delivered to my door before.

My sweetest memory was when my husband arranged a dinner for me without me knowing. He went to the restaurant before hand and talked to the owners…..prearranged all my favorite foods…..went and bought place settings, silverware and champagne flutes…..went and made a flower arrangement of all the flowers I like and had it all set up at the restaurant before we got there!….it was so sweet….such a surprise!

    • Lauren

My best Valentine’s Day started as one of the worst (or so I thought).  For our first married Valentine’s Day, my Husband didn’t even mention it-when we woke up he acted like it was any other day.  I got upset and got in the shower to avoid talking to him.  When I got out of the shower there was a dozen roses and a card on my vanity.  He had also made us reservations at the restaurant we had had our fist date at and took me to see a movie (he hates the movie theater and we never go so it was sweet!)  He totally suprised me and we had a great day! :)

My sweetest valentine… 2010, our sweet dog died on 2/12 and my anniversary is on 2/12 – so last year, my husband made a tribute to our dog/family/marriage and we decided to re-promise each other to stay true, loving, and caring and thank God for each other!! too sweet.

    • Our first year of home ownership and we were broke! He MADE me a card, picked roses from our flowerbeds, and cooked spaghetti for dinner. I still have that card and remember it every  spring when our roses bloom!

My husband was working out of town a few years ago and he was gone most of the week. I was at my parents and had just talked to him on the phone, thinking he was 100 miles away, when he walked in the door with roses and jewelry. I was so surprised! Even after 23+ years and 3 kids, he is such a sweetheart.:)

    • Margaret

Last year since it was the first Valentine’s day with our baby boy !

    • Mslonas

Probably the year I was 8 weeks preggo w/our 1st (we have 4 kids now ;)…my hubby made me a wonderful steak dinner w/beautiful roses…he was so sweet…..Sadly, the moment I walked in the door, the smell of the steak crossing w/the rose smell made me SOO SICK!! I didnt get sick in front of him though, I toughed it out, not showing it because I wanted to enjoy the moment..:) lol

Every year with small children is a blessing.  My husband always has a card and an I love you, and the boys always enjoyed getting the cards and candy.

    • My husband left rose petals in the shape of a heart with out initials then had a apple cider (cause I was pregnant with our second) It was so nice

    • Ceeci1009

My sweetest Valentine’s memory is one from 9 years ago. I was very, very pregnant with our first child and I really wanted one of the eternity necklaces (the one with the 3 diamonds in a vertical row). I knew we couldn’t afford it so I didn’t even mention it to my DH. While we were at dinner, he pulled out a box with not only the necklace but the matching earrings. To this day, I have no idea how he knew that was what I really wanted.

    • Rachna

it will be this year when my4 year old daughter told me this AM that she has made a valentine’s day heart for me at her preschool last week and is going to give it to me on valentine’s day.

    • We had a great Valentine’s Day last year. I did a Mystery Dinner and the whole family got to choose what they would like for dinner. The only problem was that there was a code to it all and the didn’t know what they were getting. They loved it, and in the end they got a great dinner!

    • Tasha

I love the handmade gifts I get from my kids every year…. love it!!!

    • Jonesliz

My sweetest Valentine’s memory…my, not at the time, husband had a little Valentine’s set-up waiting on the bathroom counter for me when I got home from work, as I would always go and take a shower.  The cliche gifts were awesome, but the best was a toy mouse in a mouse trap and a note that said, “You did it. You caught me.”  So cute, so funny.

    • Goldgoob3

My sweetest memory is the first Valentine’s Day card I got from my son when he could actually spell his name instead of just scribbling–he worked so hard to make his name just right!

    • KimberlySJ27

My sweetest Valentine’s Day memory is of my dad going several hours out of the way to the nearest Sephora and picking out Valentines for me and my two other teenage sisters all by himself. :) He did a great job too!

    • Sarah

My sweetest memory would be my husband taking me to see Lion King at Imax. It had just come out and he knew I loved that movie. So sweet.

    • Frogans2005

When my boyfriend gave me my beautiful promise ring (we were too young at the time to get engaged). It was our 2 year anniversary and Valentines day gift. He had a speech that lasted what seemed like forever, but all I could think was how much I Love him!

My sweetest valentine’s day memory is when my dad bought my sister and I a horse.  I can still remember her praying every night to have one.

    • TCross

My husband and I’s first date was on Valentine’s Day, 17 years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday……I knew after that date he would be the man that I marry.  He still makes my heart skip a beat!

I bought these giant helium balloons for my kids when they were little (about 4 and 6 years old) and they were in the living room when they got home.  They loved them.  I also got them one of those giant cards.  They loved it all. We cuddled together reading stories and playing with balloons all night.

The first Valentine’s with my son who was only 12 days old.

    • katy

One year when I was a teenager, I had no boyfriend on Valentine’s Day, so my dad bought me a single red rose. I’ll never forget how much that melted my heart :)

    • When I was in 3rd grade, my “boy friend” made me a hand made valentine with chocolate chip cookies… it was so sweet :)

    • Kathy

Our first Valentines Day with our newborn, who was only 12 days old.  She got cards, candy and stuffed animals bigger than she was! (no, she didn’t eat the candy :))

    • Melinda

I was a senior in high school.  No boyfriend at the time.  Hated Valentines Day, because so many girls go called (over the intercom system) to the main office to pick up flowers that were delivered.  For the girls that didn’t get any, it was painful.  My best friend (who was in college at that time) and her fiance sent me roses so that I would not be one of the girls “in pain.”  It was SO kind!

    • My Bday is the 16th so I am actually always celebrating both…4 yrs ago my hubby took me while I was pregnant with our first to the Fondue Room for a very intimate evening!

    • Southerngal608

My husband asked me to marry him on valentines day of 2008! and 3 years later were still in love with a one year old little boy!!!!

    • Gina Cristofori

I was 5 months pregnant (and very hungry, haha) with our first born and my husband walked in the door with a bag filled of my fast food goodies from McDonald’s and a little blue box from Tiffany’s that had a charm bracelet with a heart charm that said “Mom.” It couldn’t have been better, he knocked it out of the ball park with that one. I was able to indulge while wearing a new piece of beauty that showed my excitement to become a first time mom! <3

    • Lorilynn_b

in 2005 i came home and when i walked in the front door there were rose pedels scattered so i foloowed and in differant spots thru out the house there were pictures everywhere showing off all of our trips, family get togethers. at the end there were pictures of our wedding and honeymoon with a dozen roses and chocolate.

My favorite Valentine’s Day memory is when my twin girls bought me cards they had picked out themselves at only two years old!

    • Molli

My boyfriend (now husband) was not very excited about our first Valentine’s Day, which really hurt my feelings because it was my first Valentine’s Day with a boyfriend. When I told him how I felt, he said it made him nervous because of all the pressure girls give their boyfriends to make the perfect night. I took pity on him because he had just thrown the best surprise birthday party for me, so I planned Valentine’s Day instead. I took him to a super fast adult go-kart track and made him pesto with pasta. He loved it!

    • Majones2412

It was the first year my husband and I were dating (back in high school) and he handmade my V-Day card, which required all sorts of cutting and pasting. He really put time and effort into and it was so much more special than any store-bought card.

    • Jaylene Scott

My husband was having surgery the next week. He made a very special dinner for us and had it ready when I walked in the door from work. He handed me a glass of wine and proceeded to tell me how much he appreciated all I did and was going to have to do while he was out of commission. He had bought 2 cards because he could not decide which one to buy. It was a wonderful romantic dinner by candle light.

I found out the other day that a past boyfriend was killed in a car accident.  It really brought back memories and one of them was how he “made” my holiday memories. The biggest part was that he was a Jehovah Witness but he still made them special. As usual, I told him to not worry about Valentine’s day (or any holdiay) but for that Valentine’s day–he spoiled me with Winnie the Pooh items: socks, a Disney interchangable 5 face watch, balloons and flowers at work, pajamas, and dinner .  My friends called me a “baby” because I loved Pooh, but he thought it was cute.  Every holiday, he would buy Pooh Bear because I was his Pooh Bear…lol.  I would love to win the rose in his honor.  R.I.P Gabe!

    • Pbhardshell

My sweetest Valentine’s Day memory was 5 years ago, when we delayed a Church trip from TN to FL b/c a Valentine delivery was being made to my home.  While awaiting the lovely flowers from a special friend, my doctor called me to inform me that I needed to see an oncologist on Monday.  Our trip had to be cancelled, and a 5-surgery saga began, but by God’s amazing grace I am well and cancer-free now.  It may not have been the sweetest, but it is the most memorable for sure.

    • Susan

My favorite Valentine memory is a few years back my husband let me sleep in late since he was off work and he had just gotten out of the shower and the door bell rang. Of course he called for me to go answer it since he was just in a towel….So as you can imagine my hair was a mess and I was in my PJ’s and a day early the florist delivered a dozen roses and somce chocolates to the house. Needless to say…he set this up as a trick, but it was a great surprise although I was looking a mess!! :)

    • Tnjcent

My sweetest Valentine memory is of my late brother Dennis who was born on Valentines day, 1962. He would have been 50! years this Feb 14th. He died at the age of 37 in 1999. My beautiful memories of him consist of when we were kids and so carefree. All the Christmas’s when we would snoop to see if we could find our hidden gifts….the neighborhood games and our talks. Most of all, I will always remember his dimples when he smiled. My Valentine memories will always be of my brother Dennis who I will always cherish in my heart!

    • Lisa

I would have to say that every Valentine’s my husband and I had before we got married.  He sent me a dozen red roses for each of the seven years we dated and I saved each petal.  When we got married in 2005, we used those petals at are wedding.  The flower girl threw them as she walked down the isle and we decorated the reception with them!  It was a great way to get some fabulous use out of the memories of out courtship!!

Last year my husband and I had a quiet dinner at home.  He prepared the meal peach salsa with jalapenos chicken, fried pickles, and cherry pepsi.  This may be a strange meal, but for this pregnant lady to really hit the spot.  We topped the evening off going to the grocery store for cookie dough.

My children were a lot smaller at the time and we were not able to buy valentines for each other and I have always loved to bake and decorate for them for all occations. I remember that THEY got together and did it all for me with the homemade decorations and baked goods. Although they couldnt heat the oven without an adult so it really was not baked but our imaginations went wild with the goodies. I never let on that the goodies were not very good tasteing  and I will never forget that valentines.

Sweetest Memory: The first Valentine’s after my son was born. My husband knew I felt “blah” but made me get all dolled up and took me out to a resturant. My 2 month old (then) came with us and it was so sweet.
On a side note, one of those recordable books: Love you Forever is a tradition in my family…actually both of our families. Both my mother and my husbands mother read us that book as kids. My mother read it so much she would quote it to me over the phone if she was every away. I have turned parts of it into a song I sing to my children each night before bed. :)

My favorite Valentine’s day is the one where I had lost my job so going out was not an option. So my 2 sons and I had dress all up and had cooked an AWESOME meal for my husband. But he came home a little early so we made him stay outside until we had all the candles lit and everything was ready. Our boys served us all our dinner. What fun, and memories. I just hope they will remember these fun things when they have families of their own.

This Valentine’s Day will be 11 years ago that my husband proposed to me. It was not a total surprise, but it didn’t happen where I thought it was. I thought it would be at the restaurant, but instead we went back to our apartment and he proposed there and it was so romantic. Then he drove me to a house and told me that he bought this house for us and that we are moving in real soon and that we will make a lifetime of memories here. We’ve been there almost 11 years as well. Valentine’s Day is definitely very special to me.

    • Mnaleimaile

First valentines day when my husband and I were married, I came home expecting something big since it was our first valentines as a married couple. I came in and there was nothing, not even a card in the house. I was so upset I started giving him such a hard time about not doing anything special for me. After I went on for a few minutes he asked me to get the nail clippers from the bathroom. At the time this made me mad, how could he ask me to go get him something after he had forgotten apvalentines day. So I went to the bathroom, and who would have guessed he had hidden rises and balloons and a card in the bathroom all to be followed up with an ice cream cake in our freezer and a finished dinner hiding out in the oven. Needless to say I had to eat all my ugly words and go groveling back to tell his ow wonderful he was :)!

Now since we have our bundle of joy just this past summer we won’t be able to celebrate the love that we shared. All I really want to valentine is family time, cause they mean the most to me! I’ll cherish this moment forever!

Before we were married, my husband snuck into my apartment while I was at class and decorated my room with streamers, balloons and flowers, then also left me a fish bowl with 2 fish inside. Included was a card with a poem about us and how the fish represented us. It was so sweet and I loved that he knew how much I lived fish too!

My high school sweetheart stopped by the gas station on the way to my house. He bought me an ugly fake rose that played music. The funny part is not only did he think so highly of me to buy my present at the gas station but also that the battery was almost dead. So when I pushed the button it sounded like a musical instrument dying. BA HA Ha! I know it’s not romantic but it sure is funny!

Last year was the best valentines day ever for my family. My 12 year old daughter came to my husband & I and said she wanted to visit the sick children in the hospital on V-day to show them God loves them. On a school/work day, we all rushed home, put together goody bags & headed to the hospital. It was the most beautiful night for our family. I’ve never experienced love like we did that night.

    • Christa J.

My sweetest memory ( weird as is seems) was the time my boyfriend I broke up about a month before valentine’s day. Obviously, I was not expecting anything on V-Day, but to my surprise, when I got home, I found a big teddy bear and roses in front of my door step with a note that said ” I cannot stand to live another day without you, I love you!” We made back up that same day and have been inseperable since.

    • Becky

The first Valentine’s Day with my husband (just under a year into our relationship), he bought me a beautiful diamond right hand ring. He said he thought about getting down on one knee “to practice” (that would have gotten him murdered). We did get engaged a few months later, with a coordinating bridal set. I still get compliments on that right-hand ring, and I wear it every day.

    • Lsylte

mine would be when my son took me to the store and said he couldn’t buy me anything because he didn’t have any money but if he did he would by me the big red heart box of chocolates that was bigger than him…lol  he said because thats how much he loved me and more then he gave me one of his chocolates that he got from school and said he wanted me to have it….aw just melted my heart.

My favorite Valentine’s will be tomorrow as my boyfriend and I have a “Skype date.” He is involved in missionary work and will be gone for 2 1/2 years. “Skype dates” keep us connected, but I would LOVE to mail him a book with my voice recorded.

    • Marinewifey0311

My favorite Valentine’s Day was from 2006 when my husband returned home from Iraq after 7 months.  It was the first full day we spent together and it was the best day!  We did absolutely nothing but spoil each other all day!  Now, while he is deployed to Afghanistan, I would love to get one of these books to give to him the day he comes home–for our newborn son, who he’ll meet for the first time that day!! :)

    • Eatoncyndi

My fiance and I spent our first Valentine’s Day together in an airport.  We intended on going home to visit his family for a quick trip, but due to flight cancellations and delays we were stuck for a while.  We got a food voucher as compensation and enjoyed spending it together!

    • Misty

Definitely my sweetest Valentines day memory was when my husband and i celebrated our first one when we were dating. He was to deploy soon, so we knew to cherish every moment. We had a box of chocolates and champagne with flowers and classical music and deep conversation. Wonderful.

Oh, I remember when I was about 7 years old and my mom gave me a pink stuffed elephant and it played “You are My Sunshine.” I walked around with it much in the same way your young one did with the blooming expression. I played it over and over and sang along with the tune until it didn’t play any more. Good thinking putting those storybooks away. ;)
