I recently heard of a really fun new product that I think kids who are wired” will enjoy.  I’ve never seen anything like Hallmark’s Text Bands, which send messages through a watch-like bracelet.

It’s a way for kids to send each other messages to each other that are like text messages from a phone, but they’re still interacting together face to face.  They can be creative and just have fun, but not be quite so connected to the wired world either.

How? Kids enter up to 10 characters into the screen on the band and bump fists or shake hands to pass the message. The bands will light up and the messages will transfer from band to band.  If you want to see them in action, they have a couple of videos that I found really helpful, including how to get started with your Text Band.

They also come in a variety of different colors and styles, so your kids can match the wristband with their personality.  If your child likes to switch their style around, you can purchase just a wristband to put on the text box for about $5.  You can pick Text Bands up at your local Hallmark store for about $15 each.
