Ok team, here is the deal.

I know how rumors tend to fly with Harris Teeter and I certainly don’t want to contribute to that.  And while this doesn’t quite come from an official printed ad, I can tell you that it doesn’t come from the cashier’s cousin who talked to the janitor who happened to overhear the manager talking to the butcher.

A vendor has informed me that next week starting 8/11  Harris Teeter will be running Super Doubles all week.  This should be solidified by the end of the week along with a list with all the deals on Saturday, so keep checking back.

    • Amy B.

      Hahahhaa.

      • Can you tell who typed it?

        • Amy B.

          Thanks Andrew :)

    • Beth Ann

Woohoo! (fingers crossed) My “stockpile” is pathetically sad!

      • Littletinkerbell

mine too!!!! barely any shopping for stuff like that since the end of June! My stockpile cant handle that!

    • Craftywife

I have my fingers crossed and am holding my breath!!! Lol!

    • Bholmes75

huh triples would have been nice but since its the beginning of the month there isn't alot of good deals

    • Alli

Yes!! I am crossing my fingers. Thanks!

    • Ana Maria S.

“I can tell you that it doesn’t come from the cashier’s cousin who talked to the janitor who happened to overhear the manager talking to the butcher.” That is funny! Thanks for the heads up; if this is true I am sooo excited! I LOVE super doubles :)

    • Amg625

      What are super doubles?

      • 20 coupons that are $1.98 or less will double per day.

        • kidsallgone

OK, so this is probably a stupid question, but are there really a lot of coupons that are over $1.00?

And another question: Is HT a better place for bargains on a regular day instead of Publix? I didn't even realize that HT doubled coupons up to 99 cents!

          Thanks (anyone) for the reply.

          • bunchofpants

Yes, you'd be surprised. Go to one of the coupon databases and search by value (for example, “$1.50”) and see what comes up! I have no problem at all hitting my 20 coupon per day limit of over $1 coupons at least once during the week and sometimes more than that! Use the shopping lists w/coupon matchups that Jenny posts here and you'll start LOVING super doubles!

HT's regular bargains vary by week. For examples look through the “Weekly Top Deals” archives here and you'll see that some weeks HT can be off the hook for cheap/free stuff (with coupons) and other weeks not as much. I don't have a Publix so I've never compared, but some weeks HT tops Kroger and Kroger normally has slightly lower prices in general. Again, Jenny's lists are the best guide … some weeks I'll skip HT altogether, other weeks I hit the mother lode there.

          • mum24hooligans

I came from Florida where there are tons of Publix's and now shop at HT in NC. My grocery bill has decreased almost $200/month becuase of the coupons I can use at HT. I shop for a family of 6 so I closely watch the deals and would say that overall, HT is a better value than Publix… and I find HT has better service :)

      • Nicole

Super Doubles are where they double all coupons (20 a day) up to $1.98 instead of the normal $.99.

      • Ana Maria S.

Super Doubles at HT is when they double your coupon value up to $1.98 (20 per day with your VIC card) they always double coupons up to 99 cents so this is the time to bust out all your high value $1.00, $1.25, $1.50 off coupons so they double! Lots of free/cheap stuff to be had when that happens :)

    • Nicole

I would have rather seen triples this week – but I will take what I can get!

    • dharvn

i miss HT. we no longer have one in Columbia.

    • Susan

I had better luck this week at Food Lion than HT, and I never thought that would happen. Hopefully whatever we get, super doubles or triples will be accompanied by a decent sale flier.

    • Awesome! I hope it happens! Thanks!

    • Elizabeth

So wanting triples again soon!!! But I can live with Super Doubles I guess…

    • Laura

Hopefully Lowe's Food will be doing Triples this weekend then!

      • MaryT

I live in NC and my Lowes Foods tells me that they don't know anything about tripling coupons. I thought I remembered it happening a long time ago and told the CS girl that, but she insisted that they only double. I'm sorely disappointed, as they are MUCH closer to me than my Harris Teeter! (BTW, Lowes Foods' corporate coupon policy states only that they double 20 per day; nothing at all about tripling.)

        • Carrie_C

Yep, Lowes has tripled on occasion. In larger markets lately, they will do it to compete with HT, but there was a time where they'd have a special weekend and would do it at all locations with a minimum purchase – I think at most they'd do it twice a year. I'd say it's be 3-5 years since.

          • LeAnnaShaw

This is probably a stupid question, but is Lowes food related to Lowes hardware? And are they in the same store? Or are they seperate?

            • deniseCLT

it is confusing, but they are completely different stores

            • Bholmes75

              They are related.

            • Beth

Lowes Foods was started by same person as the hardware chain but eventually sold. So now they are two different companies.

        • Dts1130

Lowes foods does triple every once in awhile. It usually tells you in Sunday paper and it only goes for 2-3 days.

    • jessica1970

Dang! I really wanted something this week. I teach and will be back to work, so no great deals for me. The shelves are always wiped out by the time I get there each day after work. I just wanted one opportunity to be at the store in the AM with all the other crazy couponers. :)

      • Afrykandol

        get rainchecks..they never expire

        • LeAnnaShaw

While the rain checks don't expire-you can't use the super double or trip coupon…that is the real problem!

          • RebeccaFer

You can use the RC during a SD or Triples next time provided there is a coupon for the item. It can work out well since there usually isn't that much competition for your RC items. Coupons tend to go in cycles too so you will eventually find a match up that will get you that item for a great or free price.

            • LeAnnaShaw

Oh that makes sense…got it!! durh!

            • RebeccaFer

              :D

      • nisey

Jessica that bic pen coupon will come in handy for you

    • inside gal

Next week at HT starting Wed. Look at the flyer! It will have a 5 dollar off 30 or more purchase. I know its not super double or tripple but its free money torwards groceries!

      • bunchofpants

Just clarifying … so will this be the 8/11 sale flyer that will have the $5 off $30 coupon? Or will it be tomorrow's sale flyer?

    • LeAnnaShaw

Here is the official word that I got on internet coupons…and sigh…I am wrong! You can not use a b1b1 internet q.
{Thank you for your email. First, we wanted to apologize for any confusion. Harris Teeter does not accept any b1g1 internet coupons, and we're in the process of updating our coupon policy online. Even though it's a b1g1 coupon, it's still a “Free” item coupon.

      Thanks for being our customer!}

      Sincerely,

      Tom

    • Nonniemonroe1

i was in lowes food today in mint hill, nc.they told me they NEVER do triples but they do SUPER DOUBLES…quote…cashier, i call all most every sunday to see if they are having them as they usually never advertised….ill be calling first thing sunday morn before the 11th

      • Shannon

Lowes Foods up here in Fort Mill, SC has done triples either twice or three times this year. They are usually very coupon friendly and will let you do seperate transactions of 20 couples tripled (or super doubled) and you can do another transaction of 20 coupons tripled (or super doubled).

        • Bholmes75

Lowes in charlotte area does triples periodically usually right before harris teeter does their so I wouldn't doubt if they do triples on sun mon and tues that would be awesome.

    • kathrynej

Does this mean they will double $1.00 or more coupns?

      • Adamsdmd

I think in the past it's for q's that are $1.98 and under.

    • momof3

Ooooh…I'm sooooo excited!!!!!! I'll be getting my coupons ready!

    • Beth

Super doubles are nice but I NEED triples! I'm thinking that they are trying to recoup from all the money they lost during the last triples. ;-)

    • Donna

too much time on your hands to worry about super doubles!

    • Maryccc1959

yayyy, I've been waiting to use my philly cream cheese $1 coupons for the kraft cheese buy 5 get 5 back and I also have kraft peelie cheese $1 coupons. I wonder if those will double?

      • Jhflora654

I don't think peelies will double. Those coupon codes usually start with a “9”, and “9”'s won't ever double.

        • Maryccc1959

I'm pretty sure mine start with a 5 so I hope they work.

    • kop_RN

ok, so i'm new to this…so what is a super double?!

    • cankke

I read on another site that their HT manager told them it was triples next week….guess we have to wait it out!

      • Karen

        either one is wonderful

    • ShitForBrains

Coupons are the Devil! – Source Retail Employee!

    • abs

We'll be in Hilton Head. There are 2 HTs there. Does anyone know if there are restrictions on certain stores in vacation areas?

      • Monicaamcgee

No, you will be fine. I would suggest shopping at the South End HT. They have a smaller selection but that location is not as picked over as the North end. I personally shop both during super doubles.

        • abs

          Thank you! -abs

    • tkdot33

I'm new at this, so can someone tell me specifically what Super Doubles refers to? Is it more than just double coupon day/week? -tkz

      • Jhflora654

During Super Doubles, they will double any coupon up to $1.99. So your coupons for $1.50 are going to actually be $3.00!

        • Jhflora654

Oops. I meant up to $1.98.

    • Alicia

I did a little shopping at HT in Florence, SC yesterday and was approached by two of their store managers who CONFIRMED Super Doubles starting Wednesday, August 11th. Get your coupons ready people!!!!!!

    • JNR1211

Remember there is a 20 coupon limit, Teeter will only double coupons that do not say “not subject to doubling”(although some do still double), you have to have a VIC card(easily obtained at Customer Service, or just ask a cashier) and there is a daily limit on coupons. Also Sign up for E-VIC. Great deals are to be had. They publish on the bottom of your reciept on Wed. and are emailed to you on Friday.

    • Susan

Can somebody tell me if stores are usually out of stock by the Saturday of the Super Doubles week? I won't be able to make it to the store till Saturday.

      • Karen

I go every day and use 20 coupons and always find things to use them on. I have only spent 50.00 in groceries since they did the last super doubles. looking forward to a good week I have 3 store within 15 minutes of me.

      • bunchofpants

Things that are free after coupons are not always, but very often, out of stock very quickly. Other deals may or may not be … it really depends on your store and how many couponers shop there. I had one cashier tell me that there's an HT on the other side of town that gets very few couponers. I usually shop more than one HT during the SD and triples weeks because something that's out at one store will be in stock at another, but I'm really lucky to have lots of HTs around.

    • Croc It63

As a employee of HT, I can honestly say that unless the store is a flagship store (really large superstore) there arent enough items ordered to carry over for triple coupons so when a rain check is written, you wont get triple coupon value…. only so much room in the stock room to have stock held!

    • Croc It63

hint best to shop the day add hits or the morning after truck day!

    • Myqjunk43

My daughter works at HT and she has confirmed for me this morning that, this Wedensday – 8/11 – is SUPER DOUBLES!
