In our house we have two pets, a new puppy and a very sweet 13 year old cat that has been with me since college.  As my sweet Sophie has aged, so have her diet needs.  She went from being the perfect grab any type of food cat to being a very sensitive stomach difficult to shop and budget for pet. Since my college days I have also learned a lot about pet nutrition beyond just buying what’s the cheapest option.

You want to make sure you choose the food with the right balance of vitamins and nutrients for them.  Hill’s Pet Nutrition recently launching their new Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance food for cats.  It has the right amount of natural ingredients in the exact proportions cats need, this new formulation features fresh chicken as its first ingredient, an assortment of fruits and vegetables and contains no corn or artificial colors. Not only is it designed perfectly for your cats, it also is from the Science Diet name that we all know and trust.

Ideal Balance is made with real fruits and veggies, they guarantee you’ll see a noticeable difference in your cat’s coat, and it comes in kitten, adult, mature adult and grain-free varieties.  You can pick up a bag to try for yourself at pet specialty stores, farm and feed stores and select veterinary clinics.  There’s also an Ideal Balance rebate available when you register on Hill’s.com.  The rebate is good for a bag of Ideal Balance up to $12.99.

If you want to find out more information to see if Ideal Balance is right for your cat, there is plenty more information on the Hill’s website.

I have to buy foods formulated for male cats–we don’t want them getting crystals!

    • knitwit

Cats are carnivors, therefore meat is important as is a quality brand that will keep them healthy and away from the vet.

    • katkoupon

      Ingredients I can recognize.

    • Hrifkin

The cats overall health and nutrition is important to me when choosing food

    • heather

Ihave 2 outside cats. I look for something that will give them plenty of nutrients & vitamins because I don’t know what they get into out there!

    • Couponinggirl

I buy the flavors I know my varmit will enjoy. She likes seafood & chicken flavors.

    • Britcoops

That she eats it. She is a Fussy Cat.

    • SHAVON02

Nutrition first, but I also pay attention to the flavor cause I can tell my like the seafood tastes better than the other flavors…..

I have 3 cats all with different needs. My youngest cat is 2, the next is 10 and the oldest is 20 years old!!! Finding cat food to suit all of them is very difficult, especially on a budget!

    • Jackie in NC

I try to buy the food that has the best combination of good ingredients that I can afford. With 4 cats that does eliminate certain brands, but they are all healthy and happy.

    • Vepy

I have a Sophie too and it’s the same story!  When she was younger I could buy anything (and sometimes had to) and she’d be just fine, now that’s she’s “middle-aged” it’s tough to find nutritious food that won’t upset her stomach, will help her with hairball control and is affordable and easy to find.  Our current solution costs more than Hill’s and I know this will be easy to find.  Can’t wait to try it!

    • Hjjundt

Food that will help our 9 year old cat not be so fat and to keep hairballs to a minimum.

    • Kengjw

What most important to me when I buy Isabelle’s cat food is that the food has no grains, high protein and only has natural ingredients that cats need.

      Julia

    • amanda

something that I can afford for 2 cats!

    • Heidi Johnson

What’s most important to me in cat food is that the cats eat it, keep it down, and that it’s affordable.

    • Joy

The most important thing that I look for in a dry cat food is that there is no corn in it at all.

    • soundring

I prefer hairball control food, but it is hard to get it for a reasonable price.

    • kt

When we adopted Buddy from the shelter he was on Hill’s Science Diet, so I have never changed his food and he had never had any stomach issues.  My sister feeds her dogs whatever is on sale and they are always sick or throwing up.

    • Smith1471

I have an 11 year old cat who has health issues and it is hard to find a food for her that doesn’t kill my budget.  She is overweight, has a sensitive stomach, dental issues, arthritis, and so forth.  I really would love to try this food and get her off the expensive vet food.

    • Dawn

One of our cats has had a very sensitive stomach since she was a kitten so my biggest concern has always been making sure her food isnt making her sick

    • Jess

We  look for something affordable but a food that has natural ingredients!

    • soundring

Can I do this rebate if I already did the Hill’s Million Pound Pledge rebate?

    • Dawn Lucas

When I choose food for my cat, I always check the ingredients and get the food that is the healthiest and most natural.  I compare prices as well to get the best deal.

    • Jhawk_3416

We have an 8 year old cat who has the most sensitive stomach and skin. We but the cat food from the vet and she gets regular allergy shots. Her mate and best pal passed away a little over a month ago, and she didnt eat much at all for a while so we spoiled her with treats. Unfortunately the treats only upset her stomach. The health and happiness is what is most important to me when we buy food for her. I wonder how she would like and handle your new cat blend.

    • Leigh

I need a food that is affordable (2 cats) and that the cats can digest easily so they don’t throw up all the time.

    • AlyP

We have 2 cats.  One with a very sensitive stomach and we have to buy specific foods with dye in it.  Usually something with sensitive stomachs in the the title.   If she doesn’t have doesn’t have this food she usually will vomit.  We tend to have to lean to specific name brand foods…that work.

    • Gccsmom

Actually, we usually buy the same kind of cat food for our cats and even our dog eats it.  However, one of my cats is about 10 years old & many need better nutrition!

    • mg7

It is very important for me to find a cat food that offers my cats a balanced diet. Also, as the owner of a cat with FIV, it is necessary that I offer my cat a high quality food to insure his health.

    • CatBlue

No dyes for my five kitties!

    • Animal lover!

we have picky cats, so we have to buy what they like best. They will unwillingly eat a lot of catfoods, but they really seem to like 9 lives. They have not tried science diet catfood though, but I am thinking that they will like it.

    • My cat is picky, so it is important to me that she like the food.  She will go eat the dog’s food if she does not like her cat food.

    • Barbie1032

My cat needs need special food for a urinary trac . So I buy what is best for
      his health.

    • jessc5

We’ve got 2, a 2yo “brat” and a 14yo “old man”.  To be honest, the food they get is the food we can afford.  I would love to be able to feed them the best.

    • Mccarroll_k

I find it hard to find a catfood that pleases both my cats.  My younger is a bit finicky and the older cat has issues with hairballs and throws up often after eating, so when i look for food i try to find easily digestible food with little dye (for the benefit of the cat AND the carpet!), and lots of natural/healthy ingredients.

    • Becky

I have a ten year old kitty that is starting to have some bladder problems.  He has always been a psycho kitty, but now he is not using his litter box at all… I hope a new food will help.

    • Ann

I have to balance good nutrition and cost because I not only shop for my 8 yr old Pippin and a 6 yr old Golden Retriever, I also shop for my grand pets who live 2 houses away: another 6 yr old Golden ( same litter) and 6 cats- 10 yr old FIV indoor female, 10 yr old male, 2 yr old female and her kittens ( 1 female, 2 males, all a yr old last week). All are neutered and all are indoor/outdoor pets except the one. So I’m trying to provide good quality meals for 4 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs and 7 cats. And I try to help 3 more elderly adults with occasional meals. Help!

    • Marie

I have one kitty and she is the queen of this castle, lol. She is finicky about her food and I have gone through several food’s trying to get the one she will eat.Still looking:)

    • Rebeccawks

Overall price is what I consider most in buying wholesome food for my pets. I often try to use coupons to get good food for my own pets as well as the local shelter. My cat really enjoys food that is soft and tastes more like real meat than by-products (who wouldn’t!).

    • melkaci

I have a 5 year old Russian Blue mix that I adopted a few years ago. A recent vet visit discovered that he has a rare stomach lining problem; and he has an approved list of foods from the vet. Science diet is one of the brands that our vet told us to try. I currently have Royal Canin, but my poor baby doesn’t really like it and has actually lost weight. I’m praying something will work! :)

    • Pat

I have 5 adult cats that where all unloved by others in their previous years. I have a big heart for animals so I had to invite them into the family. I have some trouble finding a good food that they all enjoy eating though. I’ve never tried Science Diet but I’ve heard it is one of the best foods out there. I’m looking for something with good wholesome ingredients and great flavor they will love. They deserve to enjoy life and their food!

    • Amanda K

We have three cats at our house, and oddly enough they all look exactly the same, brown with black stripes.  It’s hard for even my parents to tell them apart sometimes.  The oldest of the three cats has lived with us for the past 11 years he began having stomach problems about three years ago and we have been having trouble finding the right kind of cat food that won’t hurt his stomach.  So the the most important thing I look for when shopping for our three adorable kittys is something that won’t irritate the oldest cat’s stomach.

    • Kathy Wickham

We have 2 cats, also 13 years old!  We adopted them right out of college and have been fanstastic pets!  We are foster to adopt parents and they are so gentle with out children.  One has a sensitive stomach.  I love our kitties so much!

    • Jane

I have an awesome tabby. I feed her the Science Diet oral care because it has the large kibble which I feel helps clean her teeth. I usually mix that with another brand to give her some variety in her dry food. I also give her about 50% wet food because it helps with hair balls (hasn’t had one since I’ve had her) and has less calories than the dry so I think it helps control her weight. She also loves the wheat grass that I grow for her. She’s not crazy about cat nip, but loves the wheat grass.

    • Edwinna

I have an awesome Calico with an extra didgit….She can be picky sometimes…..we have to be careful what we feed her…..but her favorite if RAW meats!!!

    • Squalie79

My sweet love, Diane, is 11 and I find it very important to choose food that is delicious and nutritious for her.

    • Jfmosley

Probably price. My husband and I are in college, so we are on a tight budget, but there are over 15 stray cats around my house that we try to feed because the shelter here is only a dog shelther and surrounding counties will only take cats that are from their county residents.

    • Angela

I have 4 geriatric kitties, so giving them the most bio-available food is a priority.  A food may look good on paper, but if the cat’s body can’t utilize the ingredients, it’s of no use.  For that reason, I mix 4-6 different brands of premium dry kibble and I rotate the brands every three months.  My kitties also get canned food twice a day.

Can you tell I’m a vet tech?!? ;-)

    • Sandra

I would like to try Science Diet. My kitty is very picky. I have also heard that the better cat food even a little more expensive usually feels them up faster so they eat less.

    • Lora

One of our two stray cats that adopted us is very picky with flavors of catfood. She only fish flavors or chicken or turkey, no beef. She’s also finicky with textures & won’t eat certain consistencies of catfood. Go figure!

    • Michelle B.

Ensuring my cats are getting wholesome ingredients and no by-products. Also ensuring they like the taste!

    • Jenn S.

I have 5 cats & I always make sure to pick a name I trust. I worked at an animal hospital for many years and hills is a lovely brand.

    • MeganV

I have one cat named Burger. I am always looking for healthy food for him, especially since he is still growing a lot. He just turned one years old!

    • Carla

My cats eat Science Diet only. They are 13 and 12 and I look to find food that will fit their diets as senior kitties!

    • Sandy565

I want to buy cat food from a valued company!

    • The most important thing that I shop for food for my cat is something that they will eat.  If I won’t eat it I know they won’t.  So taste has to be the most important thing.

    • Mercergrad08

I would give the food to my neighbor for their cat Sherbert!

    • Shweird

It is more important that the brand is good and it is on sale and we can use a coupon with it.

    • Rachel

I look for foods with natural ingredients and no grains or by-products.

    • Chris Ziegler

To look for the cheapest price but with high quality (so my cat does not get sick)

    • Aimee McPherson

Price but still good for my kitties!!!

    • Dee Tackett

High quality, not a lot of preservatives and no dyes!

    • Jennifer

High quality cat food is a must for my cat. We used to have a cat with kidney failure and we had to feed him prescription food from the vet’s office. Luckily, the cat we have now doesn’t have to be fed prescription food but we do feed her Hills Science Diet food.

    • Jean

It is most important that the food we buy for our cat is well-balanced and nutrious.  It also helps that she likes it.

    • Dawn

low carb high protein, my baby is diabetic

    • Dawn

low carb high protein, my baby is diabetic

    • Mbassett73

It is important for my cats to have a cat food that is gentle on their urinary tract.About 4 years ago one of our cats had a blocked bladder. He was very sick,so now we have to buy cat food that is gentle on the urinary tract.

    • ks

I look for a high quality food with no meat by products and with added vitamins for indoor cats since my kitty is always indoor.  Also fish flavors since that is what he likes best!

    • Jhunnewell00

We just adopted a 3 year old cat from the humane society.  I want to make sure she has all the right nutrition to make sure she stays a healthy member of our family.

    • Lisabluedevil

Healthy food that satisfies his appetite

    • Danielleb Dennis

I want to be able to find good food that I can donate to PAWS. I want to find good deals on nutritious food. Higher quality food actually means that you will have to feed your pet less. Thus saving money. I love to see coupons for good pet food.

    • Melissa

That it is of good quality seeing as how my cats are part of our family!!

    • Samandy

making him happy. he has to like it. he’s very finicky

    • Tammy K.

My Sphynx hairless cats require a healthy diet to keep their skin in top shape.  I also have one cat with a sensitive stomach.  Hill’s Science Diet Sensitive Stomach cat food gives them everything they need for a healthy lifestyle!  Their skin is beautiful and their tummies do not get upset!

    • Mirandaandchris718

I try to get the most nutritious for a sensitive stomach. He gets a bit pukey if i get the cheap filler stuff

    • The most important thing for me when shopping for my cat’s food is quality. As indoor cats I want to make sure they’re getting the nutrition they need to help keep them healthy.

    • Rachel H.

A good quality food that will keep my cat around for a long time!

    • Diane

With 15 cats there has to be a balance between quality and price. When push comes to shove, we will opt for quality and a brand/flavor that they like. All of our keeds are adoptees and spoiled as heck! I would love the opt to try Hill’s to see if it meets my finicky felines’ high standards! *s*

    • Pelalem

we just had to put one of our cats down due to a large tumor. Our other cat is his twin sister, and she has a sensitive stomach. We need a cat food that she can tolerate, keep her healthy, and she can enjoy the taste

    • Rachel

Healthy food for our strictly indoor baby….OOPS, I mean our cat. ;-)

    • Carrie_C

Quality food – my “son” is 17 and counting :)

    • Mnibert31

My cat just had 7 baby kittens.  She needs healthy food

    • Beanie2626

Keeping him healthy! My dog has severe food allergies and does best with Hill’s Science Diet

    • Danielle G.

One of our cats, Snickers, has a lot of food allergies and gets sick easily. According to the veterinarian, Hill’s Science Diet is the best food to be giving him.

    • erin

When I look for food for my 2 cats the most important thing for me is that the #1
ingredients it a meat! My cats are 7 and 8 and their health is very important to me!

    • SandyM

I learned the hard way when “bargain” shopping for my cats food, my oldest cat got too much magnesium in her system and developed crystals in her bladder which made her so uncomfortable, to say the least, 300.00 later she is now only on urinary tract cat food!

    • Heather Hedges

I look for a reputable brand of indoor and hairball control cat food for my furry princess.

    • Restlessyankee

For my outdoor feline, I look for what sounds tasty so she’ll eat it before her friends come calling.

    • Dana

My cat is like a child to my husband an me, so it’s important to us that we feed him what is best for him, not just what might save us a couple of dollars. He is a Maine Coon, and has extremely long hair which causes him digestive troubles. We have purchased Hills Science Diet products for him exclusively, ever since our vet recommended it after a particularly upsetting week of GI problems. He has had very few troubles since!

    • Lilkt384

I have 2 indoor cats.  One has always had digestive issues, so high quality ingredients are necessary.

    • Teri

Food that won’t hurt my cat’s sensitive stomach and also helps with weight control and furballs.

    • Jennfrc

Hill’s Science Diet is all that I will feed my 6 year old indoor cat. It is important for me to feed her the very best to keep her healthy and active and part of our family for many many years to come. Even though I live on a tight budget, even more so since I was laid off last month, I refuse to feed Gracie Rose anything other than Hill’s Science Diet. And I am sure that Gracie Rose would not mind trying something new! :)

    • Stephjost

I have one cat with tummy issues, so I always buy the one for sensitive digestion.

    • Jenitimm

We foster cats for our local Humane Society, so cost is a big factor. But we want our fosters to be very healthy for when they go to their forever home!

    • Dbegault

My cats are important parts of my family and I believe in feeding my family healthy foods.

    • Tamiluge

I have a 12 year old rescue orange tabby. I have always feed him nutritionally sound food. Every time I would think of skimping and buying cheaper food, I always put it back and went for the good stuff. Through the years, I have changed brands because of sales pitch. We did start out with hills science diet, but recently we have been using Nutro. Would like an opportunity to give Hills a chance again.

    • Aws1136

I like to buy as natural as possible. The least amount of yucky fillers, colors, preservatives, etc. No longer care about the price. Used to buy cheap – no more. Made them fat, sluggish, thirsty, ‘hairbally’, and unhealthy.

    • Cheryl S.

I adopted a Maine Coon from the SPCA a few months ago and the Ideal balance line for seniors is what he eats. He has a difficult time chewing other brands of food. The balanced nutrition and the fact that he can easily chew this food is very important to me! Would love to win a bag considering how expensive it is (the $8 off q’s helped a bit).

    • Kristinadelano

I would like my cat to eat as natural as possible for his health so he can bring us many more years of joy.

    • Tricia A.

When I shop for my cats’ food (I have two cats) I need to know what ingredients are in it. My one kitty is a senior and needs extra calories and my other cat is middle aged and needs to loose some weight. So knowing what is in the food, how many calories/fat content it includes is very important.

We love our orphaned kittens!  They aren’t orphans anymore though because my daughter loves them more than anyone ever could.   We went from NEVER having cats to having 3 at once.  The hubster & I stay they were literally an answered prayer for our daughter.

They eat A lot so we look for economical prices (coupons are awesome) and which once seem the most healthy!

    • Scresap

I have been an avid Science Diet Buyer for my two cats for nine years now.  I am looking to switch the type of food to no corn bc it seems their stomachs are much more sensitive now.  Would love a free bag to try!

    • Nicole

      It is healthy

    • austin

it is important for me that our 3 kitties have the best nutrition possible. we have been wanting to switch them to something more wholesome than what they currently eat and this would be a good start.

    • Bkittie

Our kitty is 19 years old and still in very good health.  So I want to provide high quality food in the hope that she’ll remain a part of our family for several more years!

    • Gail

We took in a stray cat that someone dropped off at our home. He is the BEST cat in the world. I try to give him the best of both worlds where love and nutrition is concerned. “Tom” has become a wonderful part of our family  :)

    • cmcraw

Our second cat had some nutritional deficiencies post-adoption, so we wanted the healthiest we could get for him

    • Lisa Scozzaro

I have 3 cats and they each have their own unique dietary needs. I look for catfood that is healthy and also economical because they do eat alot!

    • Buff42

I have always fed my 12 year old cat Hills Science Diet Food.  For inside cats, that is the only way to go.  Right now he is on the Hairball formula and it works wonders.  My 2 year old eats it too.  You get what you pay for is the way I look at it.  Pay a little more, treat your pet right and they will live a long happy life.

    • Kam

I have a seven years old cat and she is now consider ” senior”! I look for food that would be good for hair ball and kidney friendly since she is a Persian- lots of hair and prone to kidney disease.

    • electriconic

I look for a food that my cat enjoys and that will keep him healthy!

    • Jennyismyname

I look for something that has limited fillers and where meat is the first ingredient. My cat is a whopping 23 pounds, so a diet option is always best

    • Lynn Kramer

My cats eat Science Diet Light Hair Ball Control.  I switched over with my last two cats to SD because it was better for them.  Now, I have to get this particular version because our female just does not seem to get along with any other formula.  So, my main concern when shopping has been finding what will keep them from hacking hairballs, etc, up all over.

    • Hkitty_65

Our senior cat, Andy, is now 18 years old and still hanging in!  He doesn’t have a special needs diet, but he also doesn’t eat very much at his age. We have fed him Iams for years and are happy. However, I am always on the look out for high quality cat food samples or coupons for Andy to try :-) We just want him to eat and would love to try something new that is also healthy!

    • Msdaniels0

My two hairless cats are amazing and bring me joy everyday!  When I shop for food I look for grain free food at an affordable price.

My Zora was attacked by the neighbor’s dog…..grrrr!  Broken pelvic bone. Now she has to have an easily digestable food due to narrowing of the pelvis….and need lots of love.  It hasn’t slowed her down much though!

    • Patsy

Thanks so much for this opportunity to possibly win a bag of SD’s new cat food. When purchasing food for my animals, i.e., pets and resces, I alwasy strive for the most nutritious I can afford and always want the first ingredient to be a meat source.  Thanks again for this opportunity to win this food. Our companion animals cost us a small fortune but we never complain. Winning this offer would be a nice treat for them as well as my husband and I. Thank you

    • Boomer3145

My Ragsie loves the cat food, but the price is crazy

    • Victoria

I want the nutrition in the food to be backed by good science.

    • Kim N.

Cost is, unfortunately, a factor, so I just try to by my 6 year old rescued tabby the best food I can for the money.

    • Mcruz56

My cat is 9 years old and very picky! I have to purchase the same food each time, otherwise he won’t eat it and I end up donating it. I’ve been wanting to try him on this brand of food, since the ingredients are excellent! I think he would enjoy it, since he loves chicken!! Thank you for these awesome product reviews!!!

    • Sheaymchenry

I just rescued a little kitten and so I am learning what kitten’s need to eat.  Science Diet was recommended to me, so it would be ideal to win this giveaway! This would really help my animal family :)

    • Couponeagle11

My niece has a cute kitty and I would love to treat her to a bag of the best kitty food available.

    • L. Fouche

We have a wonderful cat named Choo Choo. She is a big girl with a big appetite. When she hears the word “treats” she  comes running. She would love a free bag of cat food.

    • susan

Cost and nuitrition.  Between sales and coupons, I usually get a good brand name cat food at a reasonable cost.  I have purchased Hills Science Diet for my dog before and would like to try it for my cat.

    • Couponmomof2cuties

      Price!

    • Meredith

I look for the most best ingredients possible in the food I get for my animals.  I want to make sure they are eating delicious food that is good for them.

    • Nicole Millwater

Unfortunately the most important thing when I buy cat food… is the price. We’re on such a tight budget, but luckily my kitty will eat anything! :) Her name is Seally and she’s a torti sealpoint siamese. Adorable!

Our cats are picky when it comes to food.  I have tried different brands, some of which they like and some they don’t.  They most important thing is 1) Is it nutritious and 2) Will they eat it.  They are indoor cats and I want something that completes their diets.

    • Laura

One of our 3 cats is pretty finicky, so the taste has to be the most important thing! I do check the ingredients on different brands to try to find the best quality for the $.

    • Nesieskip

Most important for me is for the first ingredient to be meat and not a by product or cornmeal.

    • donna whitson

We have 3 cats and a dog  Bladder health is important for our cats, and our one yr old dog loves to eat He is growing so fast!

    • Jennifer

I’ve started buying cat food that is specifically for urinary tract health for our older cat.

    • Brhoff06

Hairball control is helpful with our long haired cat.

    • Dishmanbelinda

The most important factor in buying food for my 5 indoor cats is the quality of food.  I buy a large bag of Science Diet monthly, but have not tried the Ideal Balance.

    • Slee

I have long-haired cats, so I must by hairball control food and supplement with hairball control treats.

    • Nonnie Mouse

Price has to come first, right now, but balancing price with quality is important. Just like feeding the rest of the family.

    • Aimee

price normally comes first, but if I can I like to find good quality food that supports good health for my cats.

    • I have 9 cats, so making sure I find something that they will all enjoy is very important! My cats are still young, but looking ahead I will need to pay closer attention to their diets as they age.

    • Melissa

My cat is strictly an indoor cat, so he gets a quality food that he likes in an indoor formula. For treats, he gets what’s on sale. He’ll eat almost anything.

    • sly-junk

I have 3 cats… I call them my ‘3 Cs’ because their names all start with the letter ‘C’. There are three things that are most important to me when it comes to the food they eat: 1. The price has to be reasonable (I can’t spend more on their food than I do my own). 2. They all have to like it and eat it (otherwise, what’s the use in buying it). 3. It has to be nutritious (I love them and want them all to be with me for a long long time).

    • Sara

What my vet recommends! My torti Gracie-Kay has been on Science Diet felion I’D most of her life. I like it because she will eat it, doesn’t smell, price. Also, I can lift the bag without help(comes in 4lb bags.) A few months ago Grace had a stress reaction to a decline in my health, vet wanted to try her on a compeative brand, both if us weren’t happy with it. Not to mention I had to go to 3 different vets offices to find it. Now she is back on Science Diet all is well in our household!

    • Vipmartz

My 3 year old kitty is a like a child to me and I want him to be as healthy as possible and live a long life.  He has been eating Hill’s Science Diet food since he was a kitten when I adopted him from a pet foster home.  Even though that brand of food is more expensive than others, I find ways to save money on it w/ pet store coupons and occasionally manufacturer coupons.  I try to buy the bigger bags b/c it’s a better value.  Obviously the nutrition is most important to me and my little furry one.  And if I have to pay a little more for it than some cheap, non-nutritious food, then I’m willing to make that sacrifice b/c he’s worth it!  I LOVE MY CAT!!

    • Regit89

Nutrition is important when it comes to my cats’ food but so is the price. My oldest cat has a sensitive tummy so it also is important that she can tolerate it.

    • Pinkchick82686

Taste, if they dont like it they will not eat it,

    • Tim_meives

I look for healthy food with no corn, mine are allergic to corn.

    • Shannon23_1985

I look at it like this…my animals are my “babies” if the ingredients in the food aren’t simple and natural like something I would eat (chicken, rice, milk) then its not good enough for my fur babies. Why do I want them eating something made from a product I can hardly sound out let alone spell! Price is not important…I’ve put something of mine from my cart back more than once when money was tight so I could get what was the best choice for them!!!

    • Judy Black

Price, nutrition . I have found that Science Diet is better, the cats eat less and the cat box smells less.

    • beth anne

Price and if they like the food

    • Alison

Proven safety, quality ingredients, and palatability.   What you feed your cat is the most important thing you can do to ensure good health!!  My cats have always eaten science diet, and they live long and healthy lives.

    • toni clinton

that they like it and its good for them

    • Mybaleigh

I switched  my dogs to Ideal  Balance about 6 weeks ago.  Skin and gastrointestinal problems much improved.  I am now going to switch the kitty as well!!

    • Lbrinson17

I look for the best price on the brands he prefers..

    • Teresa

My Axel loves just about anything–but I’m picky about what I give him!  I make sure the first ingredient is meat–cats need the protein.

    • Rgil124

I always make sure my T (my cats name) gets the best quality ingredients in the cat food I buy :))

    • Cheryl

The most important thing is that she will eat it. She is so pickey so if the foods not just right she will turn her little snout up at it. Never tried Hills so anxious to try it.

    • Hb4e

Flavors and nutrition – my cats used to be more on the beefy side but have not switched to liking more of the tuna.  My oldest in getting up there and putting weight on.  Could be a good start to healthier diet for him.

    • Mamamc1

Nutrition is most important and price too of course!

    • Pam Bridges

I always like to buy Science Diet Cat food for my cat. My vet recommends it for both my cat and my dogs!

    • Guest

Low ash content is important for me.  I had a cat that got cancer and the vet said high ash is bad for cats.  It’s in a lot of the dry food.

    • Jay

TASTE because my cat is very picky on her eating….

    • Susan

Nutrition, because I know if I feed my cat poorly he will have poor health as a result.

    • patsylvia

Nutrition is number one. I have a dog that is food sensitive.Having a quality ingredience list is most important. Love this food.

    • Barbicatter

Most important are the Ingredients and protein content.  First Ingredients should be meat, no corn.  Cats are carnivores, not cattle.

    • Jydover

Nutrition-my vet recommends it and it’s the best hair ball control anywhere.  I’ve tried them all and nothing compares to science diet hairball control.

    • Candy

I try to stay away from grain in my pet food.

    • Amyllong

Nutrition. I make sure meat is the first ingredient.

    • Cindy

Nutrition is the most important when looking for cat food.

    • Brenda

Nutrition is important so my cat’s will live a “long” and “healthy” life. My pet’s are my best friends.

    • Jgunter742

      cheap

    • Howellawa

I care about what I put in my body and I do so for my cat as well. I want her to have the best nutrition available so she will be here for a long, long time – she is my baby – like my child!

    • Christine S.

Good quality for a good price!

    • Couch_d

Weight control at a reasonable price. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and 5 children so our budget is very tight. Even so, we do try to find the best coupon deals for better food. Our oldest cat lived to be 19! Our “new” cat just turned 8, and we have an 11 year old dig and a 3 legged 3 year old who can’t afford to get fat!

    • Nancyhill3081

Nutrition and weight control are what I look for in my cat’s food, after all he is my 1st baby!

    • Lynelle Lamons

What’s most important to me when I shop for food for my cat is natural, healthy ingredients. My cat’s health is just as important as my own.

    • Elizabeth

nutrition and weight control at a good price

    • Foxygardner

I don’t like buying “junk food” for my cats. Science Diet is above average in quality and nutrition plus my cats LOVE it!

    • rita

Something she’ll actually eat – at a good price!

    • Ancroft0001

My dog has a very sensitive stomach so this would be a wonderful opportunity to try your product!

    • Krcone 66

I look for chicken as the main ingredient.

    • andy

Nutrition, confidence in the manufacturer that I can put my long term faith in.  I’ve used only Science Diet for my cats for 12+ years.

    • tori729

My cat has been struggling with a uti for a couple months now. She refuses to eat wet food which I think contributes to the problem. I usually try to find a food that has an indoor formula since she stays mostly indoors and I don’t want her to get fat!

    • Bblynbolton

Nutrition and price are important for my cat food.

    • DonnaS

I had a precious cat for 20 years!  Now I have a 1 year old kitty.  I really want good, quality food that is affordable for her so she stays healthy.  Just like my regular family.   THX

    • Whitts3

I look for a good indoor formula that will meet all of her nutritional needs.

    • Chuchubi

whether it is healthy for them…some years ago, tight budget so we bought just about any can food as long as it was CHEAP….when our one  cat died at what was an early age, the vet mused how strange it was that she had died, asked us what we fed her, and then told us how it was probably what we fed her that made her die so soon……..hard lesson learned

    • Tjsmith4806

My cat is a little on the chubby side, so we try to get her an indoor formula. She is a little picky kitty too.

    • Kleedandridge

I always use Science Diet Hairball control… We don’t need our kitty throwing up any more than she already does (she tends to purposely eat plastic and then throws it up)!  The Hairball control works for the most part but I would be curious how this new Ideal Balance works for her.  I would love to win a bag so I not have to spend so much just to see if it works.

    • Ashley H

As long as it’s healthy, that is most important, and we use Science Diet for our kitties.

    • rmapes

The food with give our cats must be nutrious and healthy for them.

    • Malia Liermann

If I have a coupon for it and it is a good deal!

    • Amymillo

I look for real meat in my cats food

    • Nancy

My 5 year old male cat eats Science diet after having kidney stones and a catheter because he could not urinate….he was so sick.  He has been fine since we switched to Science diet.  I would love to try the new flavor to see if he likes it!

    • Brenda

I worked at a Vets office for 17 years and can honestly say that Hills Science Diet food is the best!  Your animal will love the taste of the food and you will be able to see a difference in your animals health!

    • b j

i have a 15 yr old cat. he is slower than he used to be, so i need what is good for him.

    • Jennifer

I want a food that is like my pet’s natural diet (i.e. meat, not corn as the main ingredient)

    • Bonnie

I have a cat, Jackson, who is 9 years old. He means the world to me and I only want the best for him. His problem is mostly with weight and I find the Hills Science Diet works best for him and he just absolutley loves the taste. I will not buy anything else for him.

    • Couponliz03

It is most important to me that the MAIN ingredient is a meat source!

    • Surfin123

We have always fed all of our animals Science Diet. They all love it! But since one of our cats has died our other cat has been gaining weight, she has been sad and overrating. I would like to try her on the Ideal Balance and see if the more natural food helps her stay more healthy

    • Cherawls

my sweet sox is 17 years old and still frisky.  i want to keep her that way for a long time.  i’d like to see if this food really makes a difference

    • Melanie

I have two cats, ages 3 and 9, so we need a balance of nutrition. We used to always serve Science Diet but moving so much, we don’t have a regular vet. I’d like to see if it really works.

    • Clarkrich240

I have a cat I adpoted and she derserves the most nutritional food I can give her. Not knowing how she was fed before I owe it to her to make sure she has a balaced diet.

    • Sylviahix

I love to feed my cat good food, and I do think that Science Diet is a good food for my cat.  She loves it!

    • Steph4575

I don’t like to feed my cat anything that starts with grains.  I’d much rather him get healthy protein, and not just filler food.  I want my kitty to be around for a very long time!

    • Harrington Lori A

Quality food is the most important factor when choosing food for my furry family members

    • Dawn

When I food shop for my 4 kitties, I want to ensure they are getting the
best food for my dollar and their health.  I scrutinize the labels to make
sure their food contains natural and wholesome ingredients and no filler
      grains!

    • SLPLaurie

in this economy, the best bargain is the choice for my cats!

    • I buy only brand names, but price is a concern, as is something they will eat (one does not eat tuna flavored stuff) and not throw up!

    • Lynn

      Best value for my money

    • Sandra Register

I try to pick the highest quality food that I can afford.  I use coupons and rebates to get better food for my animals.

    • Pugcrazy

With a picky cat I want to find something he likes, but it also has to stay in budget

    • Htaylor32

I choose good quality cat dry cat food that is labeled age appropriate for my cat, has no dyes, and is on sale with coupons! I was told by the Veterinarian that Purina One or higher quality pet food is best. The other, lower quality products are like feeding your pets fast food/junk food! But most importantly, when you switch to another type of pet food, it’s best to ween them by gradually mixing with the previous food they are used to so they don’t have digestive problems.

    • stephanie

nutrition and value are what counts for me and mine

    • JSmiley2894

Getting a good bargain but still having quality food is the most important to me when shopping for food for my cat.

My elderly cats have very few teeth so I use anything soft they will eat.

    • Cami

I look at the nutritional content and my little taste testers are the final say to their food.

    • Dee

I choose a high quality food. I have 8 rescued cats, so I’m always scouring for coupons!

    • Meghann Jezek

I know and trust hill’s science diet and am willing to pay the extra money so i know my cat will get all of the vitamins and nutrients she needs to live a long healthy life :D

    • Rachelle85coupons

My  can has a propensity toward urinary tract infections and crystals so balancing her pH and keeping it simple with good ingredients is what is most important to me!

    • Scott

      healthy

    • Until now, it has been whatever reputable brand was the best price after coupons. Now that our cat is older and her needs are changing, it is time to start thinking healthier for her.

    • Pan_102

That it’s a food he likes after the bag has been open for two weeks.

    • Linda Toney

I have four dogs and getting them to eat is the most miserable thing I can live with.  I’vd tried so many different products and none last for long.  I have never tried Hill’s but, I would love to  have a sample to see if this could be the diet they would tolerate.  If they are happy then I am happy.
