Hallmark recently sent us all three of their new Recordable holiday story books to enjoy.  Okay to be honest I begged for them! I love the idea of having the two grand mothers that my husband and I have left record a story that my kids to listen to for years to come.   I’m a little sappy like that.  Wouldn’t it be awesome though to hear a voice you loved reading a story to you long after they are gone??

There are three books in the holiday recordable line up:  The Very First Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, and The Night Before Christmas.

Hallmark also sent us a $40 code to make personalized Christmas cards.  They have so many to chose from that it was hard, but I loved get the words of a true hallmark card with the hand made feel of our own pictures.  You can even personalize cards with songs and recorded messages inside.  Haven’t you always wanted to work for Hallmark and make greeting cards??

If you haven’t gotten your cards ordered or want to work on personalized cards for other seasons and birthdays, use code Blogger25 t0 get 25% off your entire order through 12/31/2010.  This is only good at Hallmark.com.

Win it!

One winner will receive $40 towards personalized Holiday Greeting Cards and ALL 3 Hallmark Recordable Story Books ($30 value each!)

You have 4 chances to win (feel free to do as many as you like!):

She moved to TN with her biological family and we only see her every other month or so when we drive up to see her. She is so precious to us. We gave her one of these for her birthday last year so she could hear our voices when she is not with us, but her family has moved several times and I think they've lost it. My husband andI recorded The Night Before Christmas last year for our granddaugher. We live on the east coast and they live on the west coast. We were not able to be there for her 1st Christmas so our daughter-in-law held it while we “read” it to her. I love the thought that she will be able to listen to this for years to come.

This wasn't listed, but why not share?

Every time I grocery shop, I end up giving my printed shopping list to the person behind me in line because they stand with their mouths open and say “how'd you do that?” (After they have rolled their eyes when they see the pile of coupons come out . . . I always make sure I announce my savings loudly in case they can't read the screen!) The corner of the printed list has your website address!

I would love to have my parents and my in-laws record a story for our girls. My husband and I are both the babies of four children and we were both born late in life to our parents. Our parents are nearing 80 years old and our children's ages range from 4 to 10 years. I would love to have their voices recorded in this way and I know that our girls would treasure them too. We recently moved back to SC to be close to family and allow our girls to have the relationships with their grandparents that we didn't really have with our own. I only had a grandfather alive and he passed away when I was in 8th grade. My husband didn't really know any of his grandparents, so encouraging the relationship between our girls and their g'parents has been a real blessing! Thanks for considering us!

I would happily record these for my grandchildren. My husband has a recording of his father reading the Christmas story from the Holy Bible that we listen to every year. We had it transferred to a CD some years back & made copies for family members. This recording had gone undiscovered until several years after his passing. It was originally recorded in the late 1960s! It is a family treasure to us, and we would love to do these recordings for our grandchildren too.

    • sharon60

I would like to record my voice for my grand children. When my boys were growing up, I read the Night Before Christmas EVERY Christmas Eve. It was a tradition that they loved. I miss doing it now that they are grown, but this would be a wonderful way to keep the tradition going even though my grandchildren live over an hour away now. I saw those books at Hallmark when I was using my $5 coupon this past weekend and wished I could afford to buy them and do this. I follow on facebook, twitter and daily email. Thanks! I hope the winner makes this a tradition as well.

Would love to have both my mom and dad do books for my children (we had children late in life, so my folks are both “getting up there”). Hmm.. all kidding aside, we all ought to be sure we're going “up there” once we're “outta here”. Don't know for certain? Spend some time in the book of Romans (half-way through the Bible's new testament).

    • Peggy

It is really ironic that I just left my parents' house and told my 85 year-old father that I would love for him to record a Hallmark book for my brand new first grandbaby Parker! Dad is in declining health, and it breaks my heart to think he won't be around for many more Christmas celebrations. I would love to have these books for that purpose. Thanks for all you do, Jenny!

    • Laura

My husband is in the military and has been away at training for several months. A couple months ago, he sent our now 7 month old daughter a recorded book. I cried! We've already been talking about doing another one for her, so she can continue to learn his voice even though he's not been able to be around. You should see her face light up though when she hears his voice reading to her!

i would love to hear my Great Aunt Jus read any book to my daughter who is 2 and a half. She is my grandmother's sister, the only living sibling left out of 12 kids and the youngest of all at 89. SHe lives in Michigan and we are in Georgia. My daughter has only met her once. Mt grandma lived with me growing up and died when I was 16. The only recording I have of her voice is from a video interview done years prior. Everything about my great aunt reminds me of my gram, and i would love for my daughter and myself to have her voice to cherish for the rest of our lives.

My grandmother just passed away Monday, November 29. My mom and I wanted her to read one so we could all keep it. We knew her time was coming, but no one really thought it would be so soon. When he feels up to it, we're going to have my grandfather read, “My First Christmas,” so we'll have his voice. He's a wonderful man, with such a giving, loving heart. So we'll have his voice forever, too. Thanks for offering the opportunity.

We both started to cry. We just hugged and I consoled her and told her not to worry that her grandparents would be around for a lot longer. It was a day I will never forget.

Although, I hadn't thought of it until someone else mentioned it, I would also love to have my own children take turns reading a book to have their own voices to keep as a momento for myself. How precious!

Oh how I wish these were around in 1994. That was the last Christmas I spent with my daddy. I do have a Christmas ornament on my tree from 1994 and my children always say, “Mom, this is your special ornament, right?” He never got to meet my husband or children, but I speak of him often to my family, yet I would have loved to record his southern voice reading THE VERY FIRST CHRISTMAS. My uncle (my dad's oldest brother) reads the story from the Bible every Christmas as our family sits in a circle around the room. And for a moment, I feel like I hear my daddy reading me a story one last time! Merry Christmas & be thankful for all the simple & precious moments you have with your family!

Jenny, you’re not alone when it comes to being sappy. I started a family tradition when my boys where small. On Christmas Eve I would let my kids open one gift and it was always new PJ’s. After they put their new jammies on we would make hot coco with marshmallows, of course. Then I would read The Night Before Christmas. My boys are all grown up 27, 24 & 21 and moving on with their lives. My oldest lives in N.C. and I’m in FL. I have no grandchildren yet. I would love to record myself reading, that way when my boys start their families that the Family Tradition can continue if I’m there

Throughout my 5years working in a hospital I have learned that disease knows no race, gender, nor age. I can affect anyone at any moment. I am only 28 and I have 3 children of my own, but the sad part is that half of my grandparents are already gone. I would LOVE to be able to win this gift so that the grandmother that I do have left can have the opportunity to read these books to my childrens children after she has moved on. I follow your website everyday and it has changed my life drastically. I have saved soooo much money this year! THANKS!

This would be an incredible gift to give my husband and unborn daughter for Christmas. My husband is in the military and I would have him record his voice for the narration of the book. Our baby is due February first and he is scheduled to leave on February 21st. Although the separation will be tough, something like this would make it just a little bit easier knowing that our daughter could hear his voice read her a story! Ok, I am tearing up now…how great of a product!
