saving on groceries, real extreme coupons

If you missed the live session early today I’ve now included above the recorded class. You can’t see the slides I refer to on the video so those are below the video for you to scroll through as I talk.

This is a talk on some of the basics in saving money on groceries. Since this is just 30 minutes long, check out the links below to learn more.

After all that you should be an expert!

    • Momofqc

Will you have a link to watch this over?  I have two virtual schooler’s and they need to use the computer for a school club.  I really am needing to learn this!

yeah it will be there later

    • Gbphatcat

the feed keeps going in and out

    • Janessa

      uggggh my speakers arent working!!!!

    • Kat

Can you post the link to check on produce price that you mentioned?  Thanks!

    • Aross Irish

I didn’t have time to watch the whole video but thought you made some great points. The first one being what those Extreme Couponers are actually getting. (Also they are buying those coupons- no one gets 250 coupons for the same thing in the mail). 99% of the items too I would never, ever give to my kids or bring into  my house- poptarts, sugar cereals, candy bars….packaged and boxed items are the majority of what can be purchased with these coupons. No thanks. If someone gave me that haul of food I wouldn’t accept it. You made a good point too when you pointed out that a good majority of what you bought was fresh fruits/ veggies; I am yet to see that on those shows. Thanks for your time :)

Jenny, can you please go over again the part when a store has B1G1, and you have a coupon also with a B1G1. Thank you!! You have help my family so much!!

      • I’m doing a seperate video on just that very soon!  Pretty much though if you go into a store that has a real B1G1 sale (meaning one is full price and the other is free) and you have a B1G1 coupon… you will get one item free from the sale and the B1G1 coupon will attach to the only item that has a price.  So they are both free!  Keep in mind this is up to the policy of each store.  In terms of drugstores CVS and Walgreens allow this but Rite Aid doesn’t.

        • Limayriz

          Thank you!!

    • Sberrys

Aww, I missed this! I was in the hospital with the hubby so I didn’t know about it (he’s ok). Hope I can watch this later!

Jenny, You say only use ONE store, however, I have several groceries stores within one quarter of a mile of where I live. How can I know which store has the best deals with out going through each of the matchups line by line. Is there a way  to know if an item is at a buy price on your match ups? And I mean the rock bottom price that would be on your Buy Now Price List!

      • Lane

Jenny puts acorns to the left of all the items that are a great stock up price. Hope that helps.

      • Okemi314

She does not say use only 1 store. She says use one store in the event that other stores are miles away. It would cost more money than you would save to drive to other stores. SS is not a end all be all; they do an excellent job at helping you save money. There may be some leg work you need to do.

      • Actually every item on the lists on Southern Savers is at it’s buy price.  I don’t type up the entire ad, but try to only help you find what you actually want to grab this week.

    • Thank you, Jenny!  That was interesting and you are quite entertaining!! : )

    • Javamama

Thanks so much for making this available for those of us who didn’t see it live.  I think you should make it a permanent fixture on the home page so we can go back and refer to it as we move up the ladder of couponing (or just for moral support when we have a bad coupon day!).

    • Just4yall

Thanks Jenny! That was awesome! Like the Federal market and special order suggestions.

    • Lane

Thank you Jenny for posting this. You did a great job covering so much in just 30 minutes!

    • Abby Zeigler

Jenny, you did such a great job with that!   I just have one question about rainchecks.  I’ve seen on Harris Teeter’s coupon policy that they will not give out a raincheck for a “coupon item” that is out of stock, or for a “while supplies last” item.  I understand the last part, but does what does the “coupon item” mean?  Does that mean that we can’t get a raincheck for items that are out of stock because they were a great deal with coupons?  It’s just worded in a confusing way (in my opinion).

I admit it – I gave up. I just look for sales on meat and produce. I end up at Target a lot because I’ve noticed overall their prices tend to be lower than Lowes Foods.

    • Jenny – I’m watching the video right now and even my husband is enjoying it.  Fantastic presentation.  We’re loving how you tell it like it is and with humor.  Making my husband laugh can be tricky sometimes but you’ve got him going.  Thanks for sharing this.

    • Noglesby

Hi Jenny, I love this presentation. You are a blessing to us all. I did want to let you know that grocery stores will price match a store within a 5-7 mile radius. I have learned this and wanted to watch the trend to see if it was accurate across the board and it is. Just some hope for us all. I love how you are using your gifts and how you are helping us save some great money!!!

    • Marshallmarshal

Congrats! You are sharing the wealth, can’t say thanks enough!!
