Back to school season is here in full swing and our family is feeling it in the mornings.  Even though we are a homeschooling family, we still have the rush to get the day started.  No kid want’s to still be doing work at 5 pm… my goal is not be rushed in the mornings, but sadly it happens more often than not.

Hungry Jack is making it their mission to help bring family breakfasts back again.  Their food is quick and easy to prepare and our family loves it!  Hungry Jack sent me some things to help us get started on our our mission to“Bring Back Breakfast” this weekend.  With Hungry Jack, simplicity goes a long way!  I love their food so much that it doesn’t take much to make breakfast special.  This morning I made Belgian waffles using their mix (you only have to add water), sprinkled it with powdered sugar and drizzled chocolate syrup.  It was a hit!

Writing this post made me think about how we can all bring back breakfast again and I have three tips.

Hungry Jack Back to School

1.  It’s not about the dishes – my biggest hindrance with breakfast is not wanting to start the day with a sink full of dishes.  In the end, time with my girls is more important than dishes any day.  They will never remember whether our sink was always clean or dirty, but they will remember that every Saturday we made pancakes or waffles.

Hungry Jack Back to School(we all had waffles)

2.  Get the kids involved.  Assign who your sou chef is will give you accountability to make breakfast happen. They love to help and will not let you forget to fix a real meal!  Let them measure and stir and they feel like they made breakfast happen.  The kitchen helper for the day also has clean up duty, which helps mom out!

Hungry Jack Back to School

3.  Paper Plates.  That’s really my tip for any mama who is overwhelmed.  It may not save the rain forests, but it does save your sanity.  Paper plates are a gift from God and can be used for any meal.  I’m not even afraid to use them with guests.  As women we need to be more real with each other, show them your laundry pile and your year supply of paper plates!  We need to all realize that life looks just as messy and busy in other houses.

Wanna join the Breakfast Brigade and bring back breakfast to your house?  Hungry Jack has come up with some amazing recipes that are all incredibly simple.  Grab some pancake or waffle mix and start baking up pumpkin rolls, caramel monkey bread and many other delicious breakfast treats!  To keep up to date with lots of yummy recipes, follow the Hungry Jack Facebook page.

I love mornings and I love to make breakfast. It’s a wonderful way to start a great day!!

    • BwjPg

At least once a weekend, we have a family breakfast. Whether it is pancakes or waffles or just eggs, bacon and toast, we all help out. My 4 year old loves to stir whatever needs stirring!

    • Amanda Kelley

I’ve rearranged my work schedule to allow enough morning time with my kids to have real breakfast twice during the work week! It sends them off with love and I feel good knowing my kids had a fulfilling breakfast.

    • T29730

My husband gets back from Basic training this week and since he has been gone I have gotten really slack on making hot breakfasts. When he gets back we are going to start eating together as a family again getting both the kids involved in preparation!

    • Suzette Hillis

My granddaughter and I fix her breakfast every morning for her to take to school. She has the time to eat at home, but she prefers to take it to school so she can eat and socialize with her friends before school starts. We also fix breakfast together on the weekends (at least one morning!) and sit together at the table to eat. That gives us some time to socialize with each other:)

    • Southernrach

I make chocolate chip pancakes for the kids every Saturday and Sunday and the leftovers are heated up during the week. But, we are struggling for some quick breakfast ideas during the week. This sounds like a great option!

    • Melissa Maxwell

I get up a little earlier during the week so I can cook my kids a good breakfast before school. On Saturday it’s pancakes, french toast, or waffles.

    • Catherine Robertson

My husband works very early and generally I am on the move taking care of a baby and a toddler. But on the weekends we slow it down and come together as a family and eat the biggest breakfast I can make, which always includes pancakes or waffles.

    • AndreaB

My kids got tired of pancakes – until I pulled out the nutella. That little treat helps us have a quick and easy breakfast – and it brightens MY day too!

    • TLT

During the week its a grab-n-go breakfast thing most of the time but on Saturday and Sundays its ALWAYS a family affair. Waffles, pancakes, omelettes etc. with various homemade meats from the farm. That’s the kind of things I want my kids to have memories of.

    • Amber DeJarnett Pharr

We always have breakfast together on Sundays as a family – cinnamon rolls!

    • Carol

I prep batter the night before so we can have pancakes even on school days

We love to prep breakfast as a family on weekends

    • SarahT

Sunday mornings tend to be crazy getting my 15 month old twins and my husband up and ready to make it for Sunday school, but quick to fix breakfast are a must. We eat our cinnamon rolls, crescent roll quiches, etc. so we can come together as a family before going to celebrate before the Lord!

    • Erika

I love cooking breakfast for my children. This Sunday we had sunny side up eggs, potato bites, ranch style beans and homemade flour tortillas….. yummm!

    • LoriG

Sunday mornings are our 1 day of the week when no one is rushing to leave the house at the crack of dawn, so we always try to cook pancakes or french toast…it’s a great way to start the day!

    • Erin

I have such a large stock pile of cereal that I try to plan breakfast in my menu each week.

    • Jen

My favorite is breakfast for dinner! I don’t have to bring it back, because it never left!!!

    • Emily R.

We’re trying to move beyond bowls of granola or a granola bar on the go when it comes to breakfast. My husband claims he can’t “eat that much” in the morning, but I’m trying to find ways to keep him from feeling overwhelmed but still giving us both some real food to start the day.

    • MC

We have warm cereals quite a bit at our house (oatmeal and cream of wheat and grits) but change up what is added to it. Maybe blueberries in oatmeal, cheese in grits, and a little cream and sugar in the cream of wheat. We’ve added cocoa powder to oatmeal, which was a big it as well :) And of course, chocolate chips too! Best part, one pot clean up!

    • Peggy

When ever my grandsons spend the night the next morning I like to make pancakes from scratch, we did it when our children where little, they love them and like helping mix all the ingredients.

    • paularowell

Breakfast never left – we love it so much we have it for dinner once or twice a week. Follow on twitter and by email.

    • Samantha M

    • Vanessa

We made pancakes for brunch this weekend…but my boys LOVE “college eggs.” My husband taught them how to make scrambled eggs in a coffee cup in the microwave. Quick & easy! And self-sufficient!

    • theaikenparrs

I prep everything the night before–including setting out plates, juice cups, vitamins and the fruit I am going to cut up. All that’s left to do is add some dairy and a grain.

    • Rachel

I love waffles, but I do need a waffle maker to make them, can we add some scrambled eggs and bacon on the side

    • Andrea

I try to get up about an hour or so earlier than my 4 kids just so that I can eat my breakfast in peace and then enjoy talking to them while they eat their breakfast

    • Kim Henry

I need to get better organized! I’d love to have a waffle maker to add fun to our mornings!

    • Beth Summers Cole

I am bringing breakfast back by freezing waffles on the weekend for a quick weekday breakfast.

    • kelbs

Just finished 20 years of homeschooling. Now I can get up with my college kids and send them off with a good breakfast. Anything with bacon is a favorite!

    • Emily

We try to have relaxed Saturday mornings so we can do breakfast at least once a week!

    • Kimberly

We try to eat breakfast together on the weekends since everyone leaves at different times during the week whether its pancakes or pop tarts its really nice to have breakfast together (and dinner too). Thank you for everything you do and thank you for your comment about being real with each other with the paper plates. Its too often I feel overwhelmed with my laundry being behind and my dishes stacked up. Playing with my kids is much more fun especially when they are little. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

    • esyke623

Boy Jenny, that sure is a cute little girl you have there! She is so sweet enjoying her waffles :) I personally have trouble doing breakfast first thing in the morning, so we try sometimes to do a Saturday “brunch.” We grab a snack (like a bagel or muffin) first thing, and then have waffles and bacon/sausage around 11:00. Kill 2 meals with one preparation (and load of dishes!).

    • Rachel

I love making pancakes for breakfast on the weekends.

    • Lisa Overly

I’ve always had to make breakfast for myself since I’m Hypoglycemic. My 18 year old son is as well and for the past few years I make his right along with mine but we never ate it together. Now my 16 year old daughter who would never eat breakfast (despite me naming everything in the house she could eat) has decided to turn over a new leaf and eat breakfast. So this is the first year in 18 years I’m cooking every day for the two of them before they hit the bus at 10:10 a.m. Before I just made the same utilitarian eggs to get my blood sugar up and his but now with all three of us sitting at the table in the morning I’m really jazzing things up with all sorts of different dishes! (So proud of myself! lol)
They attend high school and college at the same time so breakfast is important to their little brains! My daughter asked for waffles for her birthday Sept 4th and I didn’t make them ..yet but new waffle iron sure would help since the old one (Has to be at least 40 years old since it came from my mother’s kitchen) isn’t nearly as fancy looking and sleek! I bet that new one works
great and the birthday girl would finally get her wish! ;)

    • Jack

Paper plates & paper bags at your grocery stores in the good old USA are produced from well managed forests & are always re-planted. So lets not give paper products a bad reputation. Plastics are the real problem, since they are derived from petroleum products & do not biodegrade.

    • Pamela

I love making a healthy wheat/oat waffle for the whole family

    • Daisy ‘Cabrera’ Argudin

Prego and it seems this baby will be an early riser that loves breakfast. I could eat cereal and pancakes all day long. I am glad to say the rest of my family is just fine with this and always willing to “take one for the team”.

    • Logansmom318

We love breakfast in our house. Most mornings it’s just cereal or an English muffin, but at least once a month I like to do a big weekend breakfast, or breakfast for dinner. My 12 year old likes breakfast for dinner more than breakfast for actual breakfast lol

    • melsmayhem

What awesome timing! My son and I are having a special breakfast for dinner night while his sisters are out with Dad. We try to have one nice breakfast on the weekends but sleep schedules vary a lot so not as often as I like. But, we’re going to have pancakes tonight!

    • JessieC

We love pancakes and waffles on weekends, for weekdays, we have cereal and Greek yogurt most of the time

    • dawgmom

I’ve made this for my kids over the years and now as adults they continue the tradition.
Melt butter (best) or spray a skillet, cut a hole with a small glass in the center of (good-for-you) bread and put in heated skillet. Break an egg in the middle of each piece of bread and fry. Flip over for a few seconds when about done. (fry those bread centers too!)
I named it “spit in the eye!” Being boys, they loved that!

    • Jen

My kids are on a frozen breakfast sandwich kick, Marie Callendar are the best!

    • Betty Jones

We have biscuits, sausage, bacon & jelly. Or we do muffins or waffles. Very seldom we do cold cereal.

    • TG in NC

This is pretty basic, but I make it a point to eat at least something before I leave the house.

    • Michelle

After my husband lost his job in April, he was finally home to eat with us in the Mornings! So he started flippin’ flapjacks for the kids during the week! It has been great because I am usually busy getting lunches packed and everyone ready to go! It has been a blessing that strengthens our family!

    • Sue-Anne McCandless

My kids LOVE pancakes in the morning!

    • Michelle

Weekdays are hectic, but on weekends I always make sure we eat breakfast together. Usually its pancakes or waffles, or we make breakfast sandwiches on english muffins. My 22 month old looooooves pancakes/waffles. She’s a carb junkie, just like her mama ;)

    • Donna

To make things easier in the morning make the waffles the night before and warm them in the toaster for breakfast. My husband likes them best this way because they’re crisper.

    • Rachel Furgerson

Morning are crazy with my 3 elementary age kids. My son LOVES waffles and I usually buy frozen waffles during the school week. WE all love breakfast and will eat it for dinner sometimes!

      • Linda

One of the best parts of summer vacation with my grandchildren was cooking a big breakfast every morning. Hungry Jack pancakes with bacon and sausage and cold milk. Spinkles on top of the pancakes made then taste even better. A waffle maker would be great, we could do fresh fruit on top and whipped cream. Does it get any better than that?

    • lydia

when ever we make pancakes or french toast the left overs get frozen for our version of frozen breakfast. that way we always have a go to when it gets crazy.

    • jrickerhagler

We used to make a big family breakfast on Sunday mornings. We will begin this ritual again and let each family member cook one of the mornings… should be interesting when the 7 year old cooks:)

    • lockettfam

We always do big breakfasts on the weekends, my 3 year old son loves waffles, pancakes and french toast so I will usually make a really big batch and freeze the extras so he can have a homemade toaster waffle before heading out the door to preschool.

    • ragen

Making the time with no excuses :)

    • Susie B

I used to make pancakes from scratch on the weekends. But then I got to try the Hungry Jack complete pancake mix, and they tasted better than mine. Plus, now we don’t have to wait until the weekends! It’s so easy. I usually add mini-chocolate chips to the kids’, and banana chunks to mine.

    • allyg24

every saturday my husband makes super cheesy omelets for the kids. it’s not about the food, it’s more important that he is there making it for them.

    • Donna

I make breakfast for my husband and son 5-6 times a week. Sometimes, it kills me getting up a 6:30 every week day but I figure that my son will be in college sooner than I want to think about so I do it and not just for them but for me too (and not because I’m hungry).

    • Angela Birchfield Farnell

I make up homemade pancake mix (and homemade brown sugar syrup!) and serve this at least once a week!

    • soundring

We usually have cinnamon rolls, muffins or pancakes on the weekends when we have time to all eat together.

    • Danyeln

I cook a big breakfast on Saturday or Sunday. Since it is just me here I have tons of leftovers which makes a nice grab and go yet still homemade breakfast during the week. I prefer the extra sleep so I grab and heat up my breakfast when I get to work. lol

    • Michael

I make either pancakes or cheese toast every Sat morning for me and the puppies!!

We usually just have cereal for breakfast, but we do like to have “real” breakfast for dinner every now and then!

    • Summie

I live in a house with a husband, teenage son, and toddler son on the spectrum. we do as many meals together at the table as possible. but breakfast has been almost forgotten in the morning rush. we now eat muffins every saturday morning! and sundays before church is eggs and bacon! yummmm sure wish i had a waffle maker to make breakfast a little more yummy ;)

    • Debbie

We usually have homemade pancakes or waffles on the weekend.

    • Debra

    • melissa

We have a big breakfast on my day off- Sunday!

    • Bon

My grandsons love for me to make “mickey mouse” pancakes! They’re 2 small circles (ears) connected by a bigger one (face)! They never leave a bite uneaten….so YAY, Hungry Jack!

    • Kayt

My teenage daughter and I never eat breakfast together except for on the weekends. I decided before school started this year that I was going to change that! Knowing that were always tired and in a hurry in the morning. I do all my breakfast prep cooking on the weekend. I bake a dozen Raspberry/ Chocolate chip muffins using Hungry Jack’s complete chocolate chip pancake & waffle mix and freeze them( pull 2 out the night before to defrost and serve them with fruit and yogurt in the morning).Yum! I make french toast casserole using a thick egg bread that last really well in the fridge for days. I also bake a quiche usually one night a week and it makes great left overs for weekday breakfast and when we have a little extra time in the mornings I make my daughters favorite pancakes (Hungry Jack funfetti pancake mix). Bringing back breakfast has made a dramatic difference and starts our day off right.

    • Carolyn

I’ve been making hungry jack pancakes every Sunday for a long, long time and always add choc chips…my kids love them! my husband walked downstairs last time and when he walked in the kitchen, he said “it smells like Sunday!”

    • Jessica

Pumpkin spice pancakes to bring in the Fall season!

    • couponclary

We are often rushed in the mornings, so we’ve brought breakfast back…for dinner! We have time to prep, cook & clean-up without the stress of getting to the bus stop on time.

    • Brenda Cowan Miller

We are bringing breakfast back by everybody being responsible for something to make during breakfast. I’ll fry the bacon, my daughter scrambles the eggs, and my son makes the biscuits..that way we are all together, it goes quicker, they learn to cook, and we have a great time and a good breakfast!

    • sandra

      Saturday morning special. Cinammon roles.

    • Patty

We usually have yogurt and Belvita cookies, but waffles would be a nice change of pace. We just need a waffle iron.

    • Josh

It will be easy to bring back breakfast with this setup. When I make eggs and everyone says no thank you they seem to eat it when I sit down and them on my lap.

    • phyllis w

since my kids are grown and gone breakfast for 2 isn’t very exciting but im thinking a waffle iron might just change that idea. time for new recipes lol

    • Darleen

My son makes pancakes for his children, they want their name or a design he was doing ok with a spoon, now he uses a platic bottle with small tip his Mom gave him. It is a family event as they all gather around the griddle to make their request. This works for the weekends, but waffles for the week days would be much faster. They will love it!

    • Shannon

we love breakfast in my house we typically even have breakfast for dinner nights once or twice a month, waffles, pancakes and french toast are typically the request! So easy and filling and unless i happen to have bacon or sausages its a meat free meal that we can get lots of fruit on the plates too! WE love it

    • Tracy

My daughter told me that she wanted us to spend more family time together and I asked her how does she purpose we do that. She says we could eat breakfast together. She is so picky about what she eats but she loves waffles so this waffle maker would be great at bringing our family together.

But we try to have at least one big breakfast a week, and I always feed them something for breakfast every morning for school

    • Leah

    • lisa smith

    • Mom

I am making a point of getting up and making a breakfast and sitting down to eat it!

    • Ann

With school in full swing I prepare Hungry Jack Pancake/Waffle mix ahead of time, sometimes I add milled flaxseed for additional fiber. I freeze these and serve with frozen ( then thawed) berries and Hungry Jack syrup, heated of course. It helps make those crazy school mornings sooooo much easier. Love me some Hungry Jack for dinner too, lol.

    • Amy

We enjoy pancakes or waffles for dinner on the weekends.

    • Dirtcheapteach

My kids have taken the job of cooking breakfast on weekends. I can sit back and enjoy my food while it is hot. Making waffles with the waffle maker is one of their favorite meals to make, but the waffle maker is really showing its age.

Every Saturday I make pancakes and my 11 year makes the omelets. And my 7 year old pours the juice. They have a good time.

    • Allison

Saturday and Sunday we make family breakfast together. A nice change after a busy week.

    • missriza

I make breakfast every morning. Of course some mornings are simple things and other mornings I make pancakes, sausage, eggs, and orange juice. It’s great when the kids help make breakfast.

    • Diane N

The weekend is all about breakfast with everyone pitching in to help make what we’re having and all eating as a family. Week days we all get up and leave at different times so it’s each man for himself. Often leftovers from the weekend get individually proportioned for freezing for a quick microwave.

    • Kristen Cowan

I try one new breakfast recipe every weekend to spice things up. We also make it a point to sit down together during the week to to start the day off right.

    • Vanessa

I feel like as my kids get older weekend breakfast time is more like lunch time. I would like to motivate them getting up earlier with the aroma of Bacon and Waffles.

    • Terry

Fried potatoes are a great addition to any breakfast!

    • Trish S

I would like all of us to eat breakfast together at the table at the same time!!! I make scrambled eggs a lot for breakfast also and I need to add a little variety.

    • AngieE

We have a big, fun breakfast every Saturday, and Im working hard to have something prepared ahead of time for weekdays so I can be a little less hurried before we start school!

    • cher

Now that I am retired everything is homemade. Mostly for health but on a fixed income that helps too. Something different evey day and getting creative with pancakes, waffles and even oatmeal , potatoes and muffins too. (my brother has pancakes and waffles evey weekend for his kids and yes they help make them even the 3 year old).

    • Donna Renee’ Hammond Carver

Pinterest has a wealth of information on breakfast ideas that are family and budget friendly.

    • Rana Jeree

I first would get up early enough to make weekend breakfast since I am mostly sleep in. I would make a list the night before that is of healthy choices to add to waffles.

    • ann

Breakfasts on the weekends are great….this sounds like fun!!!

    • Jennifer

We do big breakfast/brunch on weekends when we have more time…during the week, normally just cereal and toast lol

    • l.a.

      easy meal-cold cereal/coffee&toast/juice.

    • lps48

Breakfast with waffles…would be even better with a new waffle maker.

    • Nutmeg

I’m very excited about adding breakfast to my family’s morning. My daughter is back in the states from Afghanstian after 9 long months and will be headed home for two weeks to visit her family. I’m thrilled to have my three grown daughters and their families under one roof for a short period of time. Breakfast food is a plus to starting the day off right and giving energy to make it through the day. I’m looking forward to having the family back together around the kitchen table. I will be using my waffle iron that I got for Christmas 2012 to make waffles for my American soldier, granddaughter, and other family members. Can’t wait to have them all together to get caught up on family event and have breakfast together like when they were younger. Pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, and eggs. What a breakfast!

    • Pat Morgan

I help my daughter with her 4 very young children – pancakes and waffles are a wonderful breakfast for the little guys! Filling and nutritious!

    • chattytn2

We keep all 4 of our grandchildren every Friday night and Saturday morning’s favorite is HJ pancakes.

    • Marie

We like to personalize our pancakes…bacon, chocolate chips, blueberries or bananas. Whatever each oerson in our family wants.

    • Leah Brislin

We try to sit for breakfast together as much as possible. If timing isn’t right, we’ll do it any time of day :)

    • Megan Farris Patrick

We do a big breakfast as a family on Saturdays every week. It’s usually biscuits and gravy or pancakes, with some eggs and bacon thrown in for good measure. : )

    • Starla

Is the closing date written wrong for this?

We have breakfast for dinner quite often. And just this past week while we were vacationing at Disney World, we made breakfast in our villa with eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast to start our day off with energy.

    • NEECI

My family looks forward to seeing what new recipes I’ll try to change up our weekend breakfast. Pancakes are one of their favs, especially the cinnamon roll and sweet potato ones….YUMMY!

    • EFritz

I make up a giant pack of bacon on the grill for super easy cleanup and I make waffle sticks and ut them in the freezer so Ihave homemade ‘eggo’ waffles and bacon when we want it

    • Amanda flake

We love sprinkle pancakes in the morning.

    • bolton1

Being deliberate and making a weekly breakfast plan

    • cbachmann

We have breakfast in the morning and sometimes a full spread for dinner too!!

    • Michelle Smith

We always start the day with a good breakfast!

    • EBC

Even just a fruit bar or cup of yogurt-always give them breakfast!

    • Julianne Sissine

We are bringing back breakfast on Saturday mornings and even for dinner too! My family are big fans of waffles with all kinds of toppings including; peanut butter, cinnamon sugar, syrup and others!

    • Sherri

I get out as much as I can the night before, dry ingredients, silverware, dishes, glasses, etc. so that then everyone sees it and I have to make breakfast.

    • ashleydawn200483

We have a quick breakfast usually during the week and sometimes on the weekend as well. Depending on what games and practices we have. But I would love to slow down and have a real breakfast like this at least once a week…

    • Ashley Dennis

My husband and I both work a VERY busy schedule and also have a 14 month old. We are bringing breakfast back on Sunday morning before my husband heads to work. I lay out all of the dry breakfast ingredients on Saturday night and on Sunday morning we have quality time before our busy day, enjoying a home cooked meal.

    • Rachel

I make a big batch of batch of pancakes the beginning of the week and then my girls will take a few and warm them up in the micro. Easy and very little clean up. And they love it.

    • tinab

We do family breakfast Saturday mornings. Weekdays are so rushed and busy, but with a waffle maker we could do a quick yummy breakfast. What a good idea!

    • DERRICK

Our family enjoys a Saturday morning breakfast where Mom and Dad get in the kitchen to cook. We love the smell of eggs and homemade hash browns. Its fun to dress up our hash browns with whatever toppings we each choose.

    • Betty B.

I definitely want to get a waffle maker to make saturday and sunday morning breakfast extra special!

    • julie

I’m making it a priority to get up early enough to have breakfast with my husband before he leaves for work everyday!

    • busy mom

I make waffles and sprinkle powdered sugar, canned cherries, and whip cream on mine. My family loves the weekends so we can have homemade breakfasts!

    • Gina

We’ve always ate breakfast at home, unless on the road!

    • Jamie

Reading this made me think of the poem Invisible Mother. In the poem the woman says that she doesnt wnat her kids to grow up and tell their college friends to come home with them for Thanksgiving because mom hand bastes a turkey all night and everything is homemade….she just wants her kids to want to come back home to visit because..it’s home. I love this post today about breakfast. If there is one thing I knew was certain growing up it was big family breakfast on Saturday and church on Sunday morning. NOw, as a wife and mother I love Saturday morning breakfast. It is more than tradition..it’s a priority. I would love to win. I do not have a waffle maker. But we love our pancake skillet! Thanks for spurring a trip down memory lane!

    • Jea

Our go to breakfast of late has been hot carnation instant breakfast. I keep hot water in the coffee carafe on the warmer so as everyone rushes into the kitchen, it’s just pour and go in a travel mug. Coffee is made in our new mini Kuerig! But having a waffle maker would change things up a bit!

    • Momma2boys

Weekday mornings are always hectic getting two kids ready for school and myself ready for work. But weekend mornings I love being able to prepare my boys their favorite breakfast item, pancakes. I would love to win this contest.

    • ddflamingo

On nights when nothing else seems to sound good – Breakfast food prevails!! Scrambled eggs / bacon, pancakes, it doesn’t matter. All breakfast foods work :)

    • Ashley

I dont work Mondays so that is my Saturday morning. I always try to make myself a big breakfast.

    • Kristie Fowler

We always eat breakfast together but since we don’t often have time for a home cooked breakfast we have breakfast for dinner!

    • Teresa

I love when I have time to fix an omelet!

    • Jen Goodman

Each week, my husband has a rotating day off. We make that our breakfast day. Hubby either makes waffles & sausages or pancakes & bacon, and depending on sales–eggs. We’re a Hungry Jack family, since the mixes are so easy to use & taste great!

    • Leslie

We bring breakfast back by making it work when we can. Also, we LOVE breakfast for dinner!

    • melissa

I’m with you Jenny on the paper plates. I know that we’re supposed to try and save the earth but it can very expensive and time consuming to do and paper plates works wonders on expenses and time for my family because I am very busy..so thanks for making that realization.

    • Jennifer

We try to cook breakfast on the weekends together, getting the kids involved. They LOVE to crack the eggs….

    • Jessica

I’m going to start making a hot breakfast every morning… Even if it’s just some pre-made muffins heated up ;) But we would definitely use a new waffle maker to make waffles on the weekends!!

    • Rebekah

I love to make waffles ahead of time then pop them in the toaster oven for a warm school morning breakfast!

    • Rebekah

I love to make waffles ahead of time then pop them in the toaster oven for a warm school morning breakfast!

    • kris_222r

      Fresh fruit and homemade yummies.

    • Sandy

Jenny I just want to say kuddos to you and anyone who puts their children first. You’re right. Your child will not remember the dirty dishes but will remember the time you spent with them. Our 18 year old left for college a month ago. He asked us what am I going to do the first day of school. You want be there to fix me pancakes. Ever since he started preschool His dad has fixed him pancakes the first and last day of school (and I’ve taken him for ice cream after school). We also would surprise him and have pancakes (his favorite) on Saturdays ever so often. These are some of the things he will remember about his childhood.

    • tmiller

We rely on pre-made food in the morning, and save home cooked for “brinner” (our breakfast for dinner night!!)

    • Amy

As I transition to a stay at home mommy with two girls, I look forward to having a nice breakfast with my oldest daughter. At 2 1/2 she likes to “help” and it’s a fun time for us both.

    • Jame’

Now that my children are getting older and are able to sit at the table now I have started buying different cooking equipment. So now I cook at home and we sit at the table as a family for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The only cooking equipment I don’t have is a waffle maker.

    • brandi

we love having Saturday breakfast together and at our house Daddy is the chef on Sat. morning. He makes our all time favorite pancake recipe. The girls love to help stir the batter and boy can they down the pancakes. When all is said and done they even get to share one pancake with the doggy.

    • barbee

Our best way to bring back breakfast is to have Breakfast for Supper. We do it usually once a week and all of us LOVE it!

    • Faith

      Breakfast for dinner!

    • Charlsey G

I am bringing it back by cooking it again! I am waking up at least 30 minutes earlier to still have my 15 min of me time and have something edible on the table for my youngin’ :)

    • melissasue1128

I almost always cook breakfast on the weekends, even though it’s time consuming and messy my kids look forward to it every weekend.

    • Elizabeth

We love our Saturday morning big breakfasts, but breakfast for dinner is always a hit and has saved us from eating out more than once when I forgot to pull something out of the freezer for that night.

    • missthemister

Saturday and Sunday have family breakfast. Usually it’s french toast, but my family would LOVE to have a waffle fresh from a waffle maker instead of a toaster.

    • Tiffany

We do upside down day every friday night for dinner. My hubby and I started it in grad school (before kids) because he had to help make dinner and it was super quick. My kids love it but we have started to also do more pancakes and waffles during the week since my kids love them so much.

    • ANGIE FRYER

OUR 4 KIDS ARE GROWN AND MARRIED, AND WE HAVE GROWN GRAND KIDS. UNLESS SEVERAL OF THEM ARE VISITING, IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO ACCUMULATE ENOUGH DISHES TO MAKE IT WORTH WHILE TO USE THE DISHWASHER. PAPER PLATES ARE GREAT. WE WILL STACK SEVERAL TO MAKE THEM STURDY, THEN JUST DISCARD THE DIRTY ONE ON TOP. MY HUSBAND LOVES WAFFLES, AND SO DO THE GRAND KIDS.

    • jansherard

I have wonderful memories of waking up to homemade waffles at my in-laws. My kids loved it, and they so looked forward to those Saturday morning breakfasts! Now I am the grandmother, and I am looking forward to starting my own traditions with delicious waffles! I would love to win so I could start it soon!

    • Dana Tocco

We like to switch it up and do breakfast for supper. This way we get to sit around enjoying each others company, rehashing the day, whether it be school, work, or what me and the toddler did. It allows us the opportunity to reconnect over the foods we enjoy without the rush of heading off to something else. Breakfast is how we like to end our day!

    • nik

breakfast for dinner always brings smiles

    • Melissa

I think if we could bring homemade breakfast back to my house we could save a ton of money

    • savemoney08

I always cook breakfast for my family every morning. I believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Whenever I have few extra minutes, I make pancakes for all of us. I have 6 and 4 year old kids. They always are so happy when I make them pancakes in the morning. I just wish I have a waffle maker so I can make them waffles and will make my kids more happy! :)

    • amy

I have started letting my smaller kids help with cooking the breakfast and being part of the routine

    • Mbates

We love breakfast for dinner! Pancakes are always better at night!

    • Anastasia

The baby gets up early, so I am bringing back breakfast by cooking up something hearty before the rest of the kids wake up! It’s a nice treat and something I always loved as a kid :)

    • R. Bryan

My breakfast never left! My family has always wanted a waffle maker, though…

    • RachelP

I am a recent newlywed and my husband is a State Trooper. His schedule is very different from mine, but I make it a point to make a homemade breakfast every Saturday that he is off. I think this is the highlight of his weekend, because it helps us have some good quality time together.

    • Amanda

I always cook my husband a homemade breakfast on his day off. He goes to work very early six days a week, so on his 1 day off I try and make it special, and give him a hot homemade breakfast, and it starts the day off right!

    • Kristian W

We bring back breakfast at our house by having a big, warm breakfast every Friday morning before heading to school or work. This is a family treat that everyone looks forward to. Thank you for the opportunity to win!

    • Stacey Moody

I have recently learned that you can freeze homemade bagels after you boil them and before you bake them. So on Saturdays I make as many as I can, so that I only have to bake them for 20 minutes after everyone wakes up Monday thru Friday.

    • emma

We get up earlier to prepare our breakfast.

    • Christine B

Sometimes I’m not hungry enough in the morning for a hearty breakfast – my immersion blender has been great for smoothies on those mornings

    • Lynne

We try to have ‘breakfast for dinner’ at least one time a week. It’s always my kids’ favorite night! :)

    • paprika721

We rotate what breakfast meals we eat between french toast, pancakes and muffins

    • sinjen L

between work and school mornings are not peaceful at my house. we need foods that are fast, easy, and everyone likes. its nice to have a break from cold cereal.

    • pan_102

We’ve never skipped breakfast so there’s nothing to bring back!

    • MJSmith1970

I work and have to leave before my children wake up. I worry sometimes that they are not eating breakfast before they go to school. I am determined to make sure they are eating properly before they leave. So sometimes they eat cereal but I wake up early enough to have breakfast on the table before I leave. They are much in favor and my husband enjoys it too!!!!!

    • lil A’s mom

we have breakfast at home everyday (i’m a sahm), but i like to do something special for breakfast when my hubby is off work

    • Beth Brawley

My son is a senior and doesn’t have to catch the bus at 6:45 anymore so we can actually eat before work and school but it is usually just cereal. On the weekends we have egg sandwiches, French Toast and stuff.

    • carogonza

I do it by scheduling breakfast every weekend and at least 3 times a week including breakfast for dinner

    • Mer

I bring breakfast back by doing prep work the night before. When I just have to put the ingredients together, it’s easier to get going and create a real breakfast.
