Going Nuts? I can help you understand coupon terms and abbreviations

I’ve really been enjoying this Ibotta app and it keeps getting better.  Winn-Dixie was just added to the growing list of stores you can use their deals at!

Two new exciting features have been added as well.  Now expiration dates are included when you add the “coupon” to your shopping list.  I added a number of coupons and all except one gave a date that the coupon expired.  One stated that I had 7 days left, so I’m not sure why it was different, but I’m glad they’ve included this feature.

The other new feature is a tag that shows you which coupons are new and a message in the corner displaying how many are new.  What are your thoughts on Ibotta so far?  What new features would you like to see?

I got all excited when I got an Android smart phone because of the Ibotta, and it says it’s not compatible with my phone :(

    • Amy Arvin

So far, I haven’t loved it (and, in fact, deleted it from my phone) because every time I went to use a coupon, it had expired. Maybe these new expiration dates will make it more useable. Thanks for the update!

    • Brooke

I wish more stores were compatiable with the iPod v4 and the iPad v2. No smartphone for me and most stores are not available on the wifi devices I have :(

    • jcislife

I’ve been pretty frustrated with it. A few different times I’ve taken my receipt to the app just to find the 3-4 products I bought gone. I’d only gone shopping a day or two prior :/ I think these new expiration dates will help though. Maybe I’ll give it another shot…

    • Kerri

I have loved it. I have earned almost $10 in the past month, all on stuff that we buy anywaysor for referrals.

As for the expiration dates, I am glad you can see them when you add a coupon now, but they were always there. If you had looked at the list of offers you had chosen (under settings), it also showed expiration dates. I just make sure to check Ibotta before I buy something to see if the offer is still there.

Yes the exsparation thing is anoying…..and they really need to ad Bi-lo!!!

    • S_CarolinaGirl

I like it except that I picked up a few things at Food Lion the other day only to realize they weren’t on their list. It is pretty big company, so I can’t imagine why they are not participating, but who knows. Needless to say, I’m out $2.25 for things I wouldn’t have normally purchased.

For some reason it want scan the bar codes!!! And Ibotta says theres nothing wrong with my phone. Not very happy about this.

      • sara

i have the same problem it took like 10 minutes for my phone to scan the barcode. it’s like i had to hold it just a certain way… frustration!!

        • Jeffy Walker

I tried it for 10 and nothing!!!

    • From some of you who are experienced with Ibotta, approximately how long does it take for the deposit to appear in PayPay? “

      • sundrop474

I have cashed out to paypal several times. After the first time (my paypal account apparently wasn’t verified), the deposits have been within just a few hours of cashing out. I have been very pleased overall.

    • sundrop474

I have been very pleased overall with Ibotta. I have cashed out several times. Very quick and easy. I’ve read complaints of offers disappearing but have not had that experience myself. The app works great on my Android (Galaxy 2S) phone. We don’t eat a lot of processed foods so the food selections are pretty useless for us. Also I wish they changed their offers more regularly. I have had the same (useless, see previous sentence) for weeks. But when an item does pop up that I buy anyway, it’s a great way to get cash back in addition to any coupons I might have.

    • Joy

I like it, I just wish more stores around me took part (Ingles, Food Lion, Bi-Lo). I agree that the offers don’t change – the ones I have used were replaced with the same offer. I wish there was a way to decline certain offers for new ones.

    • momof3

I prefer to hand my coupons to the cashier. I have to keep the receipt and scan the product, just more time.

      • genxeratl

Not only that but the first time I tried to send a receipt in I had to take 10 PICTURES to get the whole receipt and then it gave me an error and I was going to have to start all over again – all for $0.50! So not worth it in my book.

    • Kerri

I like it! I had one problem when I tried to submit my receipt (it showed me the receipt but submitted a black screen), but contacted customer service and received a quick reply with instructions on how to solve the problem. My only complaint is I wish there were more offers and that the ones they have weren’t sooo specific. For example, I purchased Chapstick a few weeks ago and I had to buy the Green Apple Moisturizer flavor. It would be nice if I could have just purchased a certain size Chapstick and chosen my own flavor.

I love it! One more way to stack deals. I did have a problem with buying an item at Walgreens and when I went to check the deal the item wasn’t there but it STILL showed up as a valid offer at CVS. I thought that was weird. I already have $14 for items I would have bought anyway. I’ve found that taking a picture of the receipt with a lamp on above it works best. I have even scanned the receipt a few times in the parking lot when it was a sunny day!

    • jj

Sorry, but it is too much work. I much prefer Savingstar which automatically tracks purchases and adds money to my account.

    • Kit

I’m not a fan. It takes forever for the app to load and run on my phone. I’d like the app a LOT more if there was a desktop version that went with it. That way I could get the coupons while making up my shopping list. *AND* use my scanner to scan the receipt. Then I’d only have to do the bar code scanning from my phone.

    • kakkilea

      Love it! !

    • Love it, I had a problem watching videos and scanning and found that if I turned off my WiFi on my phone the app would work perfectly.

      • Jeffy Walker

My phone is only running on wifi right now, so that wan’t work for me..

    • tori729

I have liked it except after the latest update, I’m having problems with it. After I upload my receipt and scan my barcode, it goes back to an empty screen with nothing to submit. Fortunately I contacted the company and they said it was a known Andriod issue that they were fixing within the next week or so. They also manually credited my account.
I think the worst thing is it’s sort of tedious having to take so many pictures of the receipt. Most of mine I have to take 3-4 pictures of it and it takes time and patience. But it’s pretty cool. Yeah, they need to add Bi-Lo though.

    • Sandra

What I find annoying about it is that you’re stuck with the coupons listed until you actually buy and redeem an item. 90% of the current products I don’t use.
