    • LIBERTY SC INGLES

      Last Weeks BATTERY DEAL:

Ingles Manager at Libery SC store tells me that I cannot use $1.00 off Battery coupon off the 1.00 battery because it would make it free – said that policy is that I can use 3 coupons for every $10 I purchase. I tell him that I read on the door that it would DOUBLE coupons for 3 of every $10 purchase…

Rang up 30 batteries and would not take my 30 coupons, said he would take 9 of them… Said that they did this at Easley Store – bought 30 earlier in the day…

Manager asks me what I was planning on doing with the batteries after I told him that he could keep the batteries and that I would not be purchasing them.

Pointed to my 4 year old that was with me and said that he gets a alot of toys that require batteries and that I want to stokpile on a great deal for his toys… Asked me in front of all the customers if I plan on selling them…

Left the store – went to Clemson Ingles and they let me use 10 coupons for 10 batteries asking me to keep some for other customers – I agreed…

Called Liberty store back and spoke to manager telling him that I was infuriated with how he made me feel and that I was not sure what his policy was. Said that it felt like a “Bait and Switch” – He was very wise with me over the phone and said that if I know so much about bait and switch then I can come out there and talk to him about it – told him that I considered having my attorney call him… He got loud with me and basically hung up on me…

I will NEVER go to Liberty Ingles –

I asked him if only accepts coupons that are good for the store and not the customer – the deal was too good I guess…

PISS ON LIBERTY INGLES.. I left a message with Corp Office as I more upset that I Was called out in front of customers.. I am humiliated..

Called the Easley store manager and told me that their was no such policy as what the Liberty Manager told me…

      Unbelieveable…

      • melanie

Wow – that's terrible that he called you out like that. I have 3 kids and try to stock up on batteries too for all their toys, but my Ingles will only let me use ONE internet printable coupon for the batteries. I would be cutting flips if they let me use 10! I go to Anderson SC store and they make me feel like a criminal when I use a printable q. Don't let it get to you – there are plenty of other stores that will treat you better!!

        • Heather

Which Anderson store do you go to? I always go to the one on Hwy. 24 and they never give me any problems at all — every cashier I've ever dealt with has been very coupon friendly.

      • Guest

So are you saying that you had 60 coupons for the batteries?

I am one of those couponers who gets a little frusturated by people who clean out the shelves, when I am in need of an item… please understand our point of view too. I'm not too shocked that the managers are hesitant to allow you to “buy” 30 of the same item, all with coupons and get them all for free.

      • Streiffen

Most Ingles stores will only let you use 2 like coupons per manufacturer per day so I am not at all surprised the manager would not let you use all of those coupons.

      • couponmama

I had a bad experience at our local Ingles (Asheville area) when I was newly couponing. I didn't realize their attitude toward printable coupons. They had a sale bogo on Palermo pizzas, I got two w/two printable $1 coupons- not free, you'd think no big deal. When the coupons wouldn't scan the cashier (a very nice young guy) called over the manager on duty, who said they didn't take printable coupons that were over 99 cents off, no “free” coupons, and only one printable q per transaction. Then he and the cashier proceeded to have a conversation in front of me (and the other customers), saying how do you know if it's a counterfeit coupon? And the manager says, We don't know, that's why we don't take them! I don't go to Ingles nearly as much as I'd like to, if they had a friendlier coupon policy… Too bad, it's the closest store to us. I can't tell that they actually HAVE a policy- it seems to be at the whim of the store. So you're not alone!

        • Chele17rene

Hi,Couponmama which Ingles was that at? My Ingles in weaverville is wonderful even the new stock ingles is great about coupons. I never have any problems using printables or even free coupons. I use coupons over .99 cents too. Hope this helps you!!!

      • Jellis1008

Really lady take a few and leave some for other people. The very idea. I shop at Ingles in Liberty on a weekly basis. I have never had a bad experience using internet printed coupons. I use one coupon per item up to 2 items of each brand.
They have been very good with me. I follow their coupon rules and don't try to clear the shelves. Let it go, follow the rules, DON'T BE a HOG and I'm sure things will get much better for you.

      • Morgan

Keep in mind that the manager is also dealing with people like me who wanted to purchase two of a 'good deal' and the shelf is empty.

      • Rebecca

You had already bought 30 earlier in the day? And you were buying 30 more? For one child's toys? I understand your frustration over how the manager handled this, however… maybe he figured if he called you out, you would stop doing what you're doing.

      • Megan

PISS ON YOU. The fact that you didn't post your own name AND you were prepared to visit several stores to get your 60 batteries speaks volumes for your guilt. Leave some for others.

      • I say if you want the battery deal get your ass out there and get them. My money is just as good as everyone elses. And if I want to buy 50 packs of batteries thats MY business. I'm shopping for me & my family- NOT YOURS!

        • Morgan

There's no need for that language.

          • Lol-Theres no need for everyone to attack a person that wants to buy 50-60 batteries either.

      • Paigejade

I say you don't need sixty batteries for one child and it is selfish of you to take them all and not let others partake. What a world we live in. I'm ashamed.

      • Dana

I always thought Ingles coupon policy was 4 like coupons. I used to be able to use 4 internet printables as well. Then all of a sudden, they changed the policy to 2 IPs. The cashier said it was because of everyone coming in and getting free batteries. This was at Ingles in Easley. I was told more recently that the limit is 5 like coupons.

These type of purchases will cause a stricter policy overall for everyone and Ingles is already bad enough on their coupon policy as it is. If anything, purchasing in multiple transactions would be the wisest choice rather than to try and redeem 30 coupons at one time. Managers also reserve the right to refuse any coupon.

      • Shopperkat

I'm just curious as to where you got 60 coupons for the batteries. I wasn't aware of any $1 batteries other than printables. It always concerns me when someone says they have that many coupons for the same item….that they've copied them…which equates to theft. I'm not saying you did this…but I am curious. Also, it is just common courtesy not to wipe out the shelves. I understand the thrill of getting free stuff…but we should all think of the couponers coming behind us….hoping to get the same deal. Shame on you for being selfish…and then causing such a stink because someone at the store called you out on it. I hope you didn't get that manager in trouble just because he was trying to look out for ALL of his customers.

        • Melissa

In response to your question Shopperkat, I have the “luxury” or whatever you want to call it of working in Information Technology. I have access to a couple thousand computers on a regular basis. That means for me I can pretty much print as many coupons as I want, yes the limit is two per computer but multiply that by 30 computers in a room and I can easily get 60 prints of a coupon without even considering copying them. I do know other people who ask friends and family members to print for them. I don't agree with wiping out a store of somthing, and if I'm considering doing that I usually either talk to the management first, or go an hour before the store closes on the last night of the ad.

    • 2cents

The coupon policy in Seneca was clearly posted and I believe it still is. Limit of 2 coupons per manufacturer. It is frustrating but I don't blame the manager. If I make a mistake with the policy and they refuse a coupon, I don't blame the cashier. I used to understand the policy to be 2 like internet coupons. I do wonder if the managers understand the policy correctly but if they don't it's not their fault. It is poor training.

    • Squirrelhater

Ingles at Hillcrest area Sptbg are not the most liberal toward coupons(no Ingles are),but the asst. mgrs. couldn't be nicer. They've never even blinked at a ray-o-vac deal….of course I'd never try to use 30.I mean come on.Leave your relatively small Ingles and go to your friendly neighborhood China supporting mega store and see what you get…nothing. Not all Ingles are the same, but when able,I'm happy to spend my $ w/a locally(relatively owned store….have not spent a dime(coupons or otherwise) at a Walmart in nearly a year.Read Pm Stone's Sptbg. Herald Journal article about such….was in a Sunday paper two or three weeks back.

    • Chase2531

why are you not including the prices? it helped a lot when you did.

      • Heather

What is up with all of the ungratefulness around here lately?! Jenny only posts the prices if they are listed in the ad for that particular store.

Thanks for all that you do Jenny! You are helping us get out of debt so that I can stay at home with my precious little boy! That is the best present I could ever ask for!

    • Lgwctw

many times I go to a store to purchase deals and am told “the same lady comes every week and buys all we have” it would be nice to leave some items for everyone else

      • Bee

I have to wonder why the store would not order more if “the same lady comes every week and buys all we have”. It becomes the store's fault at that point if they can identify the problem. Oh well, I have gotten rain checks at Ingle's before.

    • Squirrelhater

Ingles registers are printing coupons when you buy BC inst. potatoes:$1 when you buy 3,$1.50 for 4,$2 for 5 or more.Since they're $1 ea.,after your first transaction, they cost 12.5 cents ea.Bought 8 w/ no trouble (2 trans.)for you few Ingles haters…no peeling for me for a while…..

    • Up2stampin

STOP being a HORDER…. I say.. 30 sets of batteries… come on. What If came in behind you and wanted batteries… (which I have before and the were out of the $1 ones. Nothing good comes from arguing with a store Manager and trying to win an agrument with the purchase of 30 sets of batteries.. Yes they get there money on the coupons but it's not going to do You or the next couponer any good to argu the fact. I have had success with the $10 limit and doubling and other times I have felt like walking out.. but remember. .. they can and will change and make stiffer the policies when we make a stink… (I realize there are times when people are treated bad) thats an exception. but if you need 30 sets of batteries break it up from one or two stores or visits. :)

    • Scooper30

I would just like to say I am still new at couponing, I go to Ingles and Bi-LO for there deals because they double and Food Lion does not. My Ingles has never given me a problem with any of my coupons. I have never had enough coupons to get 30 of anything. I print coupons, sunday paper and All you mag. If you have others ways to get them please share. My worst experience has been Wal-Mart a B1G1 coupon out of the Sunday paper that the cashier was telling my was a counterfeit.. Now that made me mad, but was not worth standing there and arguing with. So I try my best not to have to go to Wal-Mart and buy anything. But My Ingles in Dade County is great.. I get the best deals there.. But I so wish we had a Publixs

    • Katblue1987

Just wanted to say that I love my Ingle's in Greeneville, TN. Their policy is no more than 2 printable q's per product, not per transaction. So if I buy two Palermos and have 2 q's that is fine. I have often used multiple printables on the same trip. They have never told me there was a limit on manufacturer's coupons so if I buy 10 of an item and have 10 manufacturer's coupons that is no problem. Also wanted to point out that the Stridex pads are on sale for .98 and most have a 1.00 q on inner box flap so that makes them free! Great for me with 2 teenagers in the house. :o)

When you get greedy, expect to get slammed by others. It's like going to a pizza buffet and the person in front of you grabs up every slice of pizza. Get what you need and leave some for others. Sales come around again, usually before you've run out of your current supply. Stocking up is fine… in moderation. Use a little common courtesy and give your fellow shopper a chance to get a good deal too. Geez.
