I’ve gotten a number of emails from folks that have gotten their next Food Lion ad or talked with store managers and found out some juicy details on a new coupon program for Food Lion.  First from looking at ads from various areas these changes only appear to be in certain areas.  For right now the only verified region so far is North Georgia.

Starting Wednesday 5/19:

  • Food Lion will double any coupon 60¢ or less!
  • For a limited time these stores will also accept ANY grocery store competitor coupon and
  • For a limited time they will price match any competitor ad.

If your area is starting these new policies then I would start getting excited.  I don’t know how easy things will go in the first few weeks but as they iron out kinks this will really make Food Lion a competitor in the south!

    • Brittney

I hope this is true Food is sometimes alot cheaper

    • Heather

Wow!! I'm excited and I don't even live in GA! I;m up here in MD, but I can't wait to see if our FL partakes in this deal sometime soon!!

    • Dale

Shopped there yesterday for 3 day sale, and thought..this would be a great place to shop if they would double coupons! I normally don't shop there for that very reason.

    • Crystal

That is better than Publix! They only double up to 50 cents. And Food Lion really has some great BOGO's. Yay!!!

    • paige

My local Food Lion now has a printable coupon machine(like CVS). All I have seen so far are just as you come into the store. You scan your MVP card and it prints out coupons for that visit, at least the ones that printed for me expired that day. Goos Luck and happy couponing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • kmalgadey

I just texted my friend who works at a Food Lion in North Ga. She said she will check into it today. This is so exciting! I live about 10 min from one in North Ga, even though I live in TN. :)

    • Gina

Wow this will be a great change! I always did my shopping at Food-Lion but I stopped.. It looks like they will be getting my buisness again soon… If this change happens

    • Gina

How can we find out if this is happening in our area? I live in Ringgold

      • cathie

        Just call your store. :)

    • amylaurenscott

This would be really great! I always shopped at Food Lion in college and when I lived with my parents because in our small town that was about the only store we had. A lot of little towns in SC only have food lion so this is a big deal for them :).

    • Gina

I called the foodlion in Ringgold this morning, I ask were they going to start doubling coupons and the manager said that he wasn't aware of it. Well doesn't look to promising for Ringgold.

    • I live in the next town over from Food Lion headquarters. I really hope they start this here as they are the only grocery store without a 30 minute drive or the super center

    • Amy B.

That would definitely get me in Food Lion more often if its true.

    • rose

bummer, none so far in the chattanooga, northgeorgia area, the one in trenton hasnt heard anything about it!! he said it must be the ones in the atlanta area…

    • This would be so awesome if they implement it at all their stores!!! I would shop there a LOT more often. Now I only go there to get a few things that are on good sale and with coupons. I've noticed before that if they doubled coupons you'd be able to get a lot of great deals, but that's what's stopped me from shopping there regularly is the fact that they don't double and sometimes they wouldn't even take internet printed coupons at my store. I really hope this happens at all the stores and not just in Georgia, it'd be so great!!! I'm excited, can't wait to see if they're going to start doing this everywhere, I'm in Richmond, VA!

    • MistyLane

I live outside of Charlotte and this would be sooo awesome.

    • cathie

That's a NO for St. Augustine, FL in north eastern Florida. Blast! :)

      • anonymous

Go figure! I live in Jax, Fl. I wish Publix and/or Food Lion would double coupons here. No grocery stores double coupons in this city!

        • bob

Someone once told me that they were not allowed in FL???

But it just occurred to me that Harris Teeter does and they even triple??

Does anyone know anything else about this and who could be contacted to get the what for???

    • millicent

that is awesome! My regular food lion (Waynesboro, PA) will double coupons up to .50 cents with a purchase of $35 or more (before discounts)

    • Lisa

it would be supremely awesome! thats the main reason i dont shop at foodlion now as much is because they dont double their coupons.

    • donnadbutler

Starts this Wed. in Dallas, GA. AWESOME!

      • DOLORES WELLS

        WOW!DALLAS FOOD LION ROCKS!

    • shay957

I called my Food Lion in Antioch,TN and they said that they aren't doubling coupons:(

      • curtisa

I live in Antioch, TN and your answer does not surprise me. Maybe they will change their minds.

    • Anonymous

Not a comment about Food Lion; however a comment about online surveys…stay away from mysurvey.com. When I first signed up, I received several surveys and thought it was an ok deal. However, it has been MONTHS now since I’ve received a survey. I log on daily and the site keeps saying there are no surveys available.

      • Anonymous

I’m a member of mysurvey.com, and I receive usually about 2 surveys a week. At first, I didn’t get any surveys at all (for quite a long time, really), but things have really picked up! They will email you when a survey is available, so you don’t need to check the site daily. It doesn’t mean you should stay away from this survey site — everyone’s results are different. Perhaps you don’t fit the demographics they’re looking for. Good luck.

    • BerryCouponing

Just called my Food Lion in Newberry, SC and they are not on the “test site” list. The manager told me that it would probably run for a quarter in the test area before they decide to expand.

He DID say that they are getting the machine that spits out coupons based on your purchasing habits at Food Lion. He also said that they just had information from their corporate about how many more people are using coupons these days!

    • kellymcarter

It's a NO for the Food Lion in Chatsworth GA.

      • Brooke99

I talk to The Store Manager before he said they already cheap enough. which I know is a bunch of bull.

    • ardis8500

I just called my local store in Goose Creek, SC and they are NOT on the test.

      • chrystalm

The Charleston stores arent participating either.

    • Mary Ellen Cox

Well my Food Lion just told me they didn’t know anything about doubling coupons but they are getting training on the machine and that is coming soon. The manager says she hopes they can start that because it is costing them a lot of business. Wow. That would be exciting.

    • Rebecca

I’m in Dallas, GA!! YAY! *does happy dance around living room* Guess I’ll be making my first stop ever into the Food Lion here in town!

    • Andi

I am oh so excited about this….went to my FoodLion yesterday to see if this is true and they have a sign in the foyer area announcing it! I am in Dawsonville, GA. This will go over quite well, I believe.

    • motherof3nc

Maybe if we all call the home office they might expand this! It would be great here in NC too!

      • Deb

I have already waged the e-mail war on them about double Q's, I think they are tired of responding! :) I am also out of NC, the Raleigh/Cary area, and even the FL workers shop at the Harris Teeter across the street because they can get better deals with the double & triple off coupons.

        • motherof3nc

We do most of our shopping where ever we get the best deal, my hubby works for foodkitty! We shop double and triple stores 90% of the time

    • frugalista

In last week's Charlotte Observer, there was an interesting interview with the President of Food Lion who took over in Feb. She was talking about some new corporate policies and mentioned that the store was recognizing that 60% of shoppers use coupons. I might decide to give Food Lion a new look to see if the rebranding is working. I do love the new coupon machine at the door!

      • debbie

What is a coupon machine and do all FL have them?

        • frugalista

I don't know if the machines are in all of them. The one in ours is pretty new. Most of the coupons are store coupons that expire that day, but I've gotten manufacturers coupons that have a few days before expiration that I've used at other stores.

    • kelli

ahhhh! I hope that my Food Lion starts doubling upto 60 cents. there would be SOO many more good deals there if they would just double.

I also really wish that they would do a triple coupon weekend again. I got so much stuff last year when they did that.

    • Mary

I work for my local Food Lion and when I ask about this I was told “Food Lion does not need gimmicks to attract customers” my response was simple…that is why I do not shop here! Hopefully this will work and Food Lion will realize they are going to have to step it up if they want to continue to gain customers.

    • Caroline

That might make the 15 mile trip to the only Food Lion in metro Atlanta worthwhile. It's in Lilburn/Larenceville near Gwinnett Tech.

    • KAWilson

Everyone making comments on here should contact corporate headquarters for F/L and tell them how you feel about this…. if they realize how many people would shop there more if they make couponing easier it might help them make the decision to expand it. I know there is a F/L 10 minutes from my house, but I drive 40 minutes to shop at Publix…….. I am going to tell them.

    • Danielle

      Debbie

Could not post a reply under your question…don't understand why but anyways

I am in a NW suburb of charlotte nc. There is a coupon machine at the front of the store in Lincolnton . I scan my MVP card and it prints out 7 or 8 coupons. Never know what they are and you can only use them that day.

I always print them out sometimes i use a couple other times i don't use any.

Got a coupon once for 1.50 of bryers icecream. It was on sale for b1g1f so i paid a $1 for a gallon. Other times i have received free tomato paste bc the Q it gave me. ALways worth checking into….if i dont use a Q i place my extra near the sales paper for others to use.

Hope u find one near you!

    • joipetty

What about the Food lion in Gainesville, GA?

    • kdelph

By all means bring this to Mt. Airy, NC

    • brandismom

Yea! I love FoodLion. They are in the shopping center I work in. The cashiers in Clinton,TN are awesome. They make bets on how much I'm gonna save when I go in.

    • Alicia

Just called the store manager in Dillon, SC. We are not on the test site list but, things are looking up for the Food Lion here. According to the manager, because of the economy they are now taking more coupons than they ever have before. They still do not stack coupons at this location nor do we have a coupon kiosk like CVS, but anything is possible. He did say, however, he would make sure it was advertised at the time corporate decided to change the policy, double coupons or this store were to be picked for the test site list. At least he was positive about it.

      • pamela

        Thank you..

      • Meg

I was looking through the comments and was excited to see some ladies from Dillon- my hometown! I've been trying to get my mom (who stills lives there) into couponing and it would be great if FL started offering more incentives.

      • Kate

Speaking of coupon kiosks, I noticed last night that my local Food Lion now has one- looks similar to the one at CVS. I didn't have time to play with it, but I was curious. Anyone know what this is about?

        • jess

Scan your MVP and it prints out normally a sheet of coupons. Most expire the day you get them. Usually 2-3 at the top are good for a few months but most expire that day. You can only print once a day.

    • pamela

How can I find out about my town…Dillon,South Carolina

      • Alicia

Pamela – just talked to store manager this morning, no go for us just yet. I also called corporate to verify and they have no info either. They are sending my request to R&D for further investigation and they will call me with the answer. Who knows when that will be.

    • peysmom

Carrollton, GA is starting on Wednesday too!!!

      • Erin B

You were able to call and confirm this? I live in Carrollton, this is great news! Any other rules they told you? Thanks!

    • shannonmooney

Gainesville, GA store is NOT participating but the person that answered the phone said he wished they were. He said that the Lawrenceville, GA (confirmed) and Dawsonville, GA stores were participating in the program. It is long distance for me to call Dawsonville from work and I can't confirm that store.

I called Lawrenceville and the lady confirmed doubling up to 60 cents and that they would accept unexpried store coupons from Publix, Ingles, and Kroger.

      Yay!

      • lindsey

woohoo! I live in Lawrenceville, this is exciting.

      • Jessica

Got the ad for Dawsonville yesterday. They ARE doubling and taking other grocery coupons :)

      • Sherri

Did u call both Gainesville stores? It would make sense for the one on Browns Bridge Rd to try this considering the FL in Oakwood just closed

    • Jenni

I heard from an someone who works at the Woodruff, SC, Food Lion that a positive change in their coupon policy might be coming soon… I'm excited to see some confirmation that they are considering it!

    • noahcat

They really should take a look at store locations when they implement this. The Food lion closest to me is directly across the street from a Publix. (Kennerly road) This would really a boost for that store. Publix parking lot always seems twice as full.

    • Gina

It looks as if there is very few going to do it.. I hope the other stores realize they need to do this too…

    • Gina

Has anyone called the FoodLion in Rocky Face Ga?

    • Betty

Has anyone heard if Shelby,NC is doing this???????????

    • Jo

Good news!!! I received the ad today and the new FoodLion in Douglasville on Hwy 92 is going to double any coupons up to $.60 everyday and for a limited time, will honor all competitors coupons and will match any traditional grocers advertised price

    • adriandg

Maryville, TN not doing it but the Store Mgr was really nice and said he would update me if they did.

    • Beckett

I live in the hometown of Food Lion – Salisbury – that's all we have is Food Lion's (many, many) an HT and one Aldi's, and of course Wallyworld (but since I've been couponing rarely go there!) Sure wish we could get a Bloom's or this new test site.

    • Jan

i called the Inman, SC store and for now it is a NO for them, The lady I spoke with said that it is a regional thing and so far this region in not included. Sure wish they would. I have gotten where I dont even monitor their ads since they dont do the doubling. I for one am going to email headquarters for Food Lion and express my thoughts about how I think competing with other grocery stores in this manner could fastly improve their sales and customer base.

    • ET

Newnan, GA confirmed they would be participating, BUT they told me on the phone that it was a limit of 10 coupons doubled per transaction. At least it is a start….

      • ET

I went to one of our 2 FL in Newnan today and they clarified that the limit is 10 per LIKE item, not 10 total so that is good to know! Also, they started doubling today at this one.

They will not double if the coupon says DND and they will no longer stack coupons they told me, so just one coupon per item.

If they are price matching a BOGO ad from somewhere else, such as Publix for example, they will do the BOGO but at FL prices.

    • GAJulie

Jefferson GA FoodLion is NOT participating at this time. Bummer:(

    • Ann

I called and got the same thing “we don't need it to attract the customers in your area”. I live in Denver, NC. I told them that I live 3 mins from a Food Lion and drive by 3 of them on my way to go to Harris Teeter to do double and triple coupons and would rather spend money there than at any of their stores… I have also had problems with management at our local store (being flat rude, not training cashiers to do anything, and caring less for the customers and only the flat line.. including only having 1 cashier during rush hour times), and I guess that is an issue right now too. I really hope they change their minds….

    • Brenda

My Food Lion does not take internet coupons, so I don't shop there. If they want me as a customer, they will have to step it up one more notch and accept internet coupons. Then, I will shop there because it is closer for me than any other grocery store.

    • WRGAGIRL

Does anyone know about Food Lion in Warner Robins, GA? Preferably off of Feagin Mill? I don't really care for Food Lion too much but if they double coupons up to .60 I may change my mind. LOL

    • My Food Lion said they are not participating and that is is mostly around Atlanta. The manager called it a test area. The funny thing about our Food Lion is that they are the only store in town that does not double coupons. I also have to drive right by it to get to Kroger and Ingle's. Would love it if they would start doubling!

    • big john

ok big johns food lion in fayetteville is participating starting weds. COUPONS A READY LOL

    • angelsince71

Ok I would really like to know which food lion big john goes to in Fayetteville! I will happily go out of my way for this. Also speaking on the coupon kiosk My mother in law said the one near her which I think is in Winston maybe around Yadkinville has one. I hope they are coming here soon. Harris Teeter needs a little competition.

      • big john

now that would be fayetteville Ga just in case you were thinking otherwise

        • angelsince71

Darn I was thinking fayetteville nc. Oh well guess I have to wait.

    • couponcliff

Food Lion in Lyman, SC customer service states “i havent' heard anything” so i'm assuming they aren't participating. wish they would! that store is always so clean and inviting!

    • brooke

in Greensboro, NC Food Lion has installed coupon machines that work like CVS where you scan your card and it prints coupons that are good for that shopping trip only (expires the same day as you print them) I got some good coupons the other day, huggies, birdseye, produce. They are store coupons.

      • Lisa

Brooke, Which FL do you shop at? I'll have to check the FL at Golden Gate. I mainly shop HT because of the doubles but they are in the same shopping center.

    • brittany

the food lion in dallas ga (about 35 miles west of atlanta) has advertised doubled coupons

    • Virginia

I have an email from Food Lion that states it will start 5/19… it is in response to my question about it. I can forward to anyone that would like to bring it along with them when they check out. My store is Newnan, GA, but also covers many other North GA stores in their ad.

    • Erin

Our Food Lion recently installed a coupon kiosk – maybe they will start doubling soon! I LOVE Food Lion but the doubles would make it even better!

    • Maria

Interesting that Bloom doubles here (Greer, SC) but not Food Lion. Bloom has had the kiosk for ages. No competitor coupons though, and that is where its at for me.

    • jaindoe

My Food Lion in Lexington nc has installed a coupon center that prints new personalized coupons every day!!! I love it

      • We are in NC too! I like the new coupon machine. We pass FL on the way home and I'll have my daughter run in and scan the card everyday to see what coupons I get. That way I can prepare before I make my grocery run in the evenings!

      • RobinB78

Ooooo…. I'm in NC too, but on the Coast. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! The Food Lions in my town tend to keep up with the “newest” things that corporate comes out with, as they have major competition here with Wally World and 2 Military Commissaries!

    • I emailed FL to see what areas were participating and this was the response….

We appreciate your interest in our promotions. Unfortunately, the stores in your area are not participating. This test promotion is running in ten participating stores in the Georgia area to test the effectiveness of the promotion. We will utilize this data to enhance our consumer promotions for the future. We are sorry for any inconvenience. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you soon.

      • Ginger

I emailed for SC and got the exact same respone, word for word. Maybe if enough of us email they will make it company wide.

    • Donna

I called my Food Lion (Lawrenceville, Ga) yesterday and was told they are doubling coupons up to 60 cents, they are doubling their own coupons as well as Publix, Kroger and other “traditional” grocery stores. It does not include Target. The process starts here Wednesday. It's very exciting!

    • Rhodes

Food lion in Newnan is doubling their coupons up to .60 and according to one of the cashiers this is not going to be just a trial. It is going to be permanent!

    • Beth

Just so you know – I went to the Dallas, GA Food Lion and was able to price match items off of the Publix ad that Publix did not have in stock. They let me use the Publix Q and the manu Q, and even allowed me to have overage, although a manager had to come over and override the system. The manager understands the process – he said that it didn't matter about the overrage, because they would get reimbursed for the full amount of the coupon anyway. Everyone was very nice and I called corporate to let them know how pleased I was with their new coupon policy. I'm praying that it will stay!

    • Linda

I work for Food Lion and would love to see the dbl coupons, accepting comp. coupons and price matching. We have a great store and the most wonderful customers in the world. Most of them use coupons a lot. One even told me to check out Southern Savers. We share recipes, family meal traditions and are like family. I know the entire team at my FL want to give our customers everything possible to make their shopping trip as good as it can be. We love our customers…..

    • Sarah

I went to a Food Lion in Lexington, SC yesterday and they would not accept any printed coupons and did not double any coupons less than $0.50. I think it will be quite a while before I return!

    • I just called the corporate office to request that the Gainesville, GA store(s) adopt this coupon policy because they don't currently.

The (very friendly) customer service rep said that the “coupon test program” had received a very positive response and it looked very promising that all stores would be adopting this policy, but he didn't (wouldn't) give a timeline. I told him that I drive past 2 different FL stores (1 near work, 1 near home) to get to the other grocery stores that DO offer a comparable coupon policy.

So, no news yet but hang in there!
