If you are a Pig Shopper in the Carolina’s tune in tomorrow for news on an incredible promotion starting next week.  Let’s just say the closest Piggly Wiggly to me is 20-25 minutes away, but I’m not missing this one!!

    • sarah in nc

We have piggly wiggly here, rarely shop there, but may want to now!

What are greenbax and how do you get them?

      • kathi

You register and they give you a customer reward card (like Bilo bonus and Evic) and you swipe at the register the same way. The very old program was “Greenbax stamps” and you got actual paper stamps to glue in “books” that could be redeemed for stuff.

    • kathi

I don’t know if you still can but a few years ago you were able to purchase a Piggly Wiggly gift card w/ Greenbax any time you wanted to (which then you can spend at your leisure). I don’t buy many groceries at PW (get better deals at my Bilo) BUT we buy all or our gas there and buy more gas w/ the Greenbax!

      • kathi

Forgot, we USED to buy all our gas at PW, now we get a full tank in our minivan (the car that holds 20 gallons to get all possible value) from Sunoco w/ our Fuelperks when we are getting ready to go on a trip or when some are getting ready to expire, whichever comes first.

      • molly

Yes, you can use your Greenbax for giftcards! I do it all the time.

    • Is there a way to check how many greenbax you have? My boyfriend used to work there so we still have some. However, Piggly Wiggly is way too expensive to shop at. All this time I thought that Publix was the higher priced grocery store, but I found out I was wrong when I stepped into a Piggly Wiggly. I can’t wait to hear what the deal is next week. It must be something grand!

      • kathi

I think you can check it on line by keying in your card number. I know you can swipe the card at the gas station and it will tell you how many books you have. It will also print out at the bottom of your receipt.

      • kathi

Forgot to add you can also ask at the register and they can swipe your card to find out

      • Thanks! I’m excited b/c we have 14.26 books.

        You can check online at:

I tried shopping at Piggly Wiggly once. Went in for a couple BOGO items & found it was almost the same as the regular price at Publix or Bi-Lo. Haven’t set foot in there again, so I don’t have any Greenbax. Will keep an eye out for this sale you are talking about & see if its worth my while.

      • kathi

PW’s vary on how they handle BOGOs too. At mine you have to get both to save anything (unlike my Bilo and Food Lion where you can buy one for half price)

    • Jenny, should we hold onto our Greenbax until next week or is the deal not including greenbax? Thanks!

      • Jenny

You will not need to hold onto any greenbaxs. Use all that you have now… you will have many many more coming!

    • Sonia

I wish the Piggly Wiggly here offered Greenbax. I shop there sometimes because it’s a quarter mile from my house and the only grocery store within 30 miles. I try to only go in there if I need milk, eggs or if they have a really good sale on something. Otherwise I drive 30 miles once every week or 2 to a larger store like Kroger or Publix.

    • ashley

awww… I miss my old Piggly Wiggly! It was the only grocery store we had in my small town growing up but it closed down years ago!

      • kathi

LOL my 18, 19 yo next week would completely agree w/ you. When she was little she drove my sister NUTS when we were there “advertising” for the Pig
(Transcript from sister living 500 miles from the nearest PW who had taken my 2 yo daughter to the nearest grocery store to grab some final items for a birthday party while I stayed at her house with my son and 2 nephews:
Sis I wonder if they have___
DD Pig Wiggly would have it
Sis I need to go ask where it is
DD The lady at Pig Wiggly would know where it is; you bring us there, they will have it and will tell you where it is.)

    • Brenda

thanks for posting info on the pig. would appreciate more on the pig in the future.

    • Heather

Does this mean that we can look forward to a list for them from you next week??? =)

Thanks SO much for ALL that you do!!!

    • Alisha

FYI…..Piggly Wiggly mailed out coupons to some of its Charleston residents on yesterday. There were 2- $10 off 40 coupons(for use in February) and something else.

      • I wish we got those here in Columbia. Those might just come in handy next week.

    • Bonnie

Does this mean you are going to start listing the Pig sales. The Piggly Wiggly is only 2 minutes from my house? Thanks

      • Jenny

I will be listing the weekly greenbax deals only. Sorry if I got your hopes up.

    • The Dixie crystals link says the campaign is over. We don’t have a PW here but DH is addicted to sweet tea lately so I was excited to get a deal on sugar!

    • Michelle

Is it better to use the Greenbax on gas or groceries? Or does it matter? I thought maybe it would be a better deal one way versus the other.

      • kathi

For me the gas is a better deal most of the time. The Greenbax are worth $1.50 a book at the gas pump all of the time; at my Pig gas station if you buy on Friday you also get .03 off a gallon. Since the price at the pump is competitive w/ the area gas stations AND I get greenbax it makes that a better deal.

I do buy a few loss leaders at the store and every now and again bread or something but 99% of the time use other stores for groceries
        HTH

    • shannon

I also would love to see more info on the Pig. Thanks for everything you do Jenny.

    • Carla

Is there a way to use coupons on the items that you are already getting for free such as the milk, sugar, and pasta?

    • carmen

how can i find out if they are doing that promo in alabama? or does anyone know? i haven’t been into a piggly wiggly since i was about 5 years old…it was the only grocery store our small town had!
