K-Mart is running nationwide their double coupons promotion this week.  It is slightly different than last time.  They are doubling any coupon up to and including $1 ($2 last time) and you can only use 25 per transaction.

If you go to K-Mart’s website this is on the main site, so if your store gives you a problem call (or threaten to call) corporate and they will tell your store to participate.

Here is the official lingo from their site:

Amount of credit from doubling a coupon cannot exceed the current retail price of a single item. No cash or in-store purchase credit will be awarded for any amount exceeding the retail price of the item. Limit 1 coupon for each item purchased. Only 1 coupon will be [doubled or tripled] per item. You may only purchase 4 of the same item using double coupons. Buy One, Get One offers, Kmart Savings coupons and Kmart Store coupons are excluded from this promotion. Coupons do not apply to sales tax. Limit 25 coupons per customer per day. Internet coupons or copies of manufacturer instant coupons are not valid. Offer excludes products prohibited by law, including but not limited to alcohol, tobacco, and prescription medication. Not valid on non-merchandise, federal or state regulated items, prior purchases, Lands’ End, Sears merchandise rung on Sears registers within Kmart and Kmart.com. In the event of a return, coupon savings may be deducted from the refund.

(Thanks Kayla for letting me know)

**A personal comment:  When this happened in our city last it was not a pleasant experience.  I would recommend making your transactions small, and knowing what your total should be!  Watch each coupon to make sure that it is doubled correctly**

Does anyone know some awesome deals for this Kmart promotion? I’ve never attended one of these sales.

Hey Stacy! Check out Hot Coupon World….here is the discussion on KMart doubles:

I doubt I will go this time. My KMart is a good 15 to 20 minute drive from my house. And it’s just kind of icky…it’s an old building. Plus, my KMart does not carry BeechNut baby food…I have lots of $1 off coupons. If they did carry BeechNut, I would sooo be there!

    • It’s really great that KMart is doing this, but even when they doubled up to $2 coupons I just didn’t find that many deals. Their prices are so high in my area and the coupons didn’t match up with anything on sale. I hope many of you are able to find some great deals. I’m gonna have to sit this one out. ;-)
Thanks for passing along the information!!!

I went in my local Kmart on Sunday evening, and was told… err yelled at and told in no uncertain terms that Kmart wasn’t doing double coupons this week, and basically accused of being a liar and a scammer and nearly had the police called on me, when I told them that it was being done everywhere else, and it was said in a press release however, I had not printed out the press release.

I called corporate on Monday and was told yes, all Kmarts were doing double coupons and the store would be notified. I received a call from that store manager telling me that “he forgot”. He had the email and meant to tell everyone on Saturday, but “forgot”. He apologized, said he had notified everyone, and even put up notices at every register and told me to come back in that everything would be okay.

I went back on Monday because I have $1/4 coupons for cat food, and it was a great way for me to get cat food at $0.29 a can, so I picked up 72 cans of cat food with my 18 coupons and went to the register. The coupons weren’t doubling…….and to make matters worse, the coupon was only ringing up at $0.78 one time. The cashier hadn’t heard anything about double coupons, and there was no notice at any of the registers.

So what happened was that they had to call the store manager on duty at that time, which wasn’ the one that I had talked to. He of course knew about the double coupons, but no one else seemed to. They ended up manually overriding the price of the cans of catfood to $0.29 a can instead.

In the two prior instances of my local Kmart doing double coupons, nearly half of the coupons wouldn’t double or would double partially. I would watch the screen, showing the coupons doubled however, when I would get home, I noticed what had showed up on the screen was not what showed up on my receipt. One time I should have saved a total of $64.00 and instead only got $47.00. The other time I should have saved $31.00 and instead only got $24.00. And now this.

In my opinion, this store does not want to honor the corporate policy and is a violation of state law regarding the bait and switch routine.

It would seem that the programmers at Kmart would finally have worked all the kinks out of the register programs and coupons after all the prior promotions. And I’m never going to Kmart again, even if they offer triple coupons because the is no communication at this store between corporate, the manager and the employees. And since a promotion wasn’t really advertised as it was the prior times. And obviously, the programmers are pretty clueless with UPC codes and coupons.

Unfortunately, K-Mart doesn’t give you the overage on your coupons when they are doubled, either…the programmers do get this one right. If you have an item that is $1.79 & a coupon for $1 off, it will only give you the “doubled” amount of $1.79. That is probably why your savings wasn’t reflected on your register receipt like you thought it should be.

Even though double coupons is tempting, trying to figure out what would be a great deal isn’t worth it to me…

Last time I went to Kmart I left so upset I don’t plan to go again!
Some of my coupons were dated 11-30, I went to Kmart on 12-1. (about 12 hours expired)
I honestly didn’t realize that the coupons were up the day before.

The clerk called the manager, the manager came over and acused me of Coupon Fraud!!! I left everything that I had spent over an hour collecting….(only about 10 items total, cuz I did not find much since their prices are so high to start with) I walked out and don’t plan on going back.

To me KMART IS NOT WORTH THE HASSLE!!!!

Our Kmart’s prices are so high that the double coupons don’t seem worth the hassle. They are not friendly about doing the double coupons, either. In fact, this time, most of the stores around here have said they are not participating. Kmart really misses out on a market of people who do not want to hike through the bigger stores by their attitude and prices.
