Here is a Mega Deal for the Mega Sale this week at Kroger:

Amp Energy Drinks $1 ea (part of the Mega Sale)

  • Buy (10) Amp Drinks and a coupon will print for a $10 Kroger Gift Card.

That makes the Drinks FREE!

You can grab the gift card off the rack, get it activated and use it to buy more Amp drinks, and so on, and so on.

I delayed posting this for my husband who just went to our local store to verify it on his way home.  Can’t have you guys taking all his drinks!  I personally can’t drink the stuff, but he loves it.

(thanks Sara!)

    • LaShandal

Trying to understand my savings on Kroger reciepts. Which savings should I go by? Total savings section for today or You saved XXXX with your plus card. Please explain. Thanks!

    • Thanks!!!

    • tracey

wow! this is the best deal yet :) thanks!

    • Becky

I bought 10 of the Amps (Kroger St. Andrews Rd at I-26) looking for a looking for a coupon for a $10 Kroger gift card. It did not print out anything and the cashier even called over a manager to ask her. They knew nothing of this. I went to customer service to return the 10 before I left the store. Jenny, please tell me which Kroger you went to. Thanks!

      • Jenny

We were at the Kroger on St. Andrews in Irmo. Prints a Catalina Manufacturer Coupon that says “Thanks for purchasing Amp Energy, Here’s How to Get your $10 Gift Card” If you didn’t get it try calling the Catalina company at 1-888-8-Coupon, it has been confirmed at more than that store so it should have worked.

    • This is awesome- I am seriously resisting the urge to do a midnight Kroger run!

    • My Husband drinks a TON of this stuff, but our Kroger stores rarely have the same deals posted here. I may call catalina and ask if this deal is going on in my area. Would they know? Thanks :)

    • Sylvie

Worked in Alpharetta, GA. Thanks Jenny!!!

    • joy

The best part about this deal? My Kroger had a tearpad of $1 off coupons on the fridge with the drinks! There were only six left, which means I paid $4 for 10 drinks, making this was a $6 moneymaker for me!

    • Michelle

I just did this deal in Gainesville, GA. The cashier rang up the 10 drinks, and it immediately spit out a $10 coupon. He rang that up for me, and I paid 70 cents for the 10 drinks! I didn’t have to get a gift card or anything. I hope the drinks are good. I’ve never tried them before.

This sign said that this deal will last for a couple of weeks.

    • Julieann

Wonder if this is just a SE regional thing or if Mid-Atlantic has this deal too.

    • Has anyone from VA or NC confirmed this deal that you know of?

    • Nicole

How many times do you think you can do this?

    • Melissa

Has anyone from Houston, TX tried this??

    • Becky

Thanks, Jenny! I will try again. I don’t drink AMP nor does anyone in my family but I was going to try it.

    • Melanie

Jenny, do you have to buy 10 in one transaction? I only found 4, and bought them, hoping I could get more elsewhere…

    • Michelle

I think you have to buy 10 in the same transaction for the coupon to print. I bought two sets of 10 in back to back transactions, and the $10 coupon printed both times.

However, I first tried to buy 20 in the same transaction, and only one of the $10 coupons printed, so the cashier took off 10 of them, and I did another transaction for those. So, it looks like 10 per transaction, and there doesn’t appear to be a limit to how many times you can do it.

    • pam

Does anyone know if this deal is good for Michigan Kroger as well? I know I am way out of your area, but I love this site….

      • Jenny

        Pam,

So far I have seen it working in GA, SC, TN, and KY. You can always try and return them if not!

    • So Kroger CS is very unhelpful I called them and Catalina (who said I would have to call the store) and ended up just buying them to see if it worked. It did. But don’t expect a lot of hep from customer service.

    • paige

It worked! I am so lucky I got out early and went and did this. I needed gas so just used my $10 investment on that.
      Thanks Jenny!!

    • Kim

I just did this at the Kroger on 92 on Acworth GA. I did not work the first time so I took them to CS and had them void and re ring and it worked! The catalina machine was broken on the first register I used. Did it twice and I think I am going to head to another Kroger and see if they have any of the Cherry Flavored ones! Thanks for an awesome deal my teenagers love energy drinks and they are soooooo expensive! Of course now I have to put limits on when they can drink them…….

    • Lee Ann

Worked great in Dallas, GA. Now I can use my gift card to buy my deals this week! Thanks Jenny!

    • Elizabeth M.

      This deal worked in Suwanee:-)

    • John

      Working in Franklin, TN

    • shelly

    • Erin

    • Does anyone know when this deal is ending?

    • Melissa C.

Worked in Rome and Cedartown GA.

If they are out of singles the nice Manager let me open a 4-pack and ring them up as singles. They are the same size and have the same barcode.

    • Nikki

Thanks Jenny this is an awesome deal. Does anyone know if you use the gift card from your first transaction to buy ten more will another coupon for another gift card print out?

    • Adrienne

Worked in Charlottesville… Barracks Shopping Center. Unfortunately, the CS reps and manager on duty had never seen this Catalina, so they told me I have to go back tomorrow to redeem. Lame. I live 30 mins away so it’s kind of an inconvenience… but I’ll prep for some other deals after I roll this card. Thanks for the tip… my husband loves these!

    • Kristen

Is Kroger good about taking competitors coupons or does it just depend on the store? I am new at this as of this week and I would like to be able to just shop at one store if they will take other store coupons.

    • Lynn

I tried it at the St. Andrews Kroger today too and it didn’t work. I wish I would have read the comments first. I’ll try the phone number. I’ll let you know if that works. Has anyone tried the phone number yet? Has anyone tried it in Columbia and had it work?

    • Lynn

Just saw the comment that it worked at the Irmo store.
Thanks :) Anyone tried the Forest Drive store?

    • I live in Dallas Texas and it worked for me last night. Went through, got my AMP’s and then the catalina…took it to the customer service booth, she gave me a gift card that took several minutes to activate, and then used it on my other stuff (did 2 other 10 items deals and only spent $6) ThANKS everyone!

    • Angela the coupon NERD

      Lynn,
I am thinking about trying the Forest Dr store myself. :)

    • Jenn

What sales cycle are you guys on? I am a Thurs-Wed sales cycle. I am trying to figure out if this will be going on starting tomorrow – or next week.

Is there someone with a catalina that can read me the numbers on the side of the coupon so I can call catalina with the promo number?

    • Melissa

After having to tell a cashier at a store in Riverdale, GA to make sure her Catalina printer had paper (it didn’t) the coupon printed once paper was put in. She loaded my gift card right away. Yay!

Then went to my usual Kroger in Union City, GA and no coupon printed…this printer also had no paper but when she put paper in still nothing. I then completed a separate transaction with 10 more AMPs and still no coupon.

So…I will be going to the store in the morning with all 20 cans and returning them if they won’t give me the $20 in gift cards I deserve.

Has anyone bought varieties other than the green can?

    • Lela

      Melissa-
My store in Knoxville, TN didn’t have the green cans, so I bought a combination of Overdrive (red can-cherry), Lightning (yellow can-lemonade) and Elevate (blue can-mixed berry) and it worked.

    • Susan

It worked for me in Nashville, TN! I bought ten cans of mix and match flavors! Voila! Ten dollar coupon printed out! Sweet find! Thanks so much!

    • Cindy

This worked in Richmond VA. The store only had 10 left.
Anyone know how long this deal is for?

    • Mitch

So I was just at the Shell station up the road and found a tear off pad near the Amp Energy Drinks for $1.00 off the purchase of one can. I only grabbed 5. I should go grab 5 more to make this deal truly free!

Everyone go check your local Shell stations! I am in Marietta, GA.

    • Mitch

Hmmm… Now I just came across a manufac coupon for a FREE 4-pack of 16 oz AMP Energy Drinks! I printed 12 of them. I hope this will somehow work in me being able to get these 10 purchased for free. Any advice on how I could work this to make it work toward free Kroger gift cards with ONLY tax OOP?

    • No idea…Kroger store in Riverdale does not take coupon for free items…

    • Brian

Didn’t seem to work in Powder Springs, Ga store. After going to customer service, the manager said she was not aware of this gift card, so I returned the drinks. I know the coupon machine was working though, because I saw the previous customer get one. Bummer. I may try the Dallas one, since people have said it worked there.

    • Worked great in Augusta, GA. HUGE thanks!

Just a tip for some: If your store is not generally helpful, going to cust svc won’t likely do any good as this is not in the weekly ad. However, you should be able to call Catalina & they can get it sent to you via snail mail.

Also, if a catalina machine runs out of paper, it will not pick up where it left off printing. I wish they’d improve the machines so that they could, but for now it doesn’t work. Best thing to do then, is have them ring up 10 on another register & once the q spits out, have them void that order (if you already paid). Of course, getting somebody to do that isn’t always easy, but it works & it doesn’t goof up the inventory. Hth.

    • Erin

worked at russel ridge kroger in lawrenceville

    • Beth(GA)

What are the sizes of these drinks? Ounces?

    • April

They are 16 oz and it works in VA, Richmond area. I went to one store and there was a young lady picking up 10. Which meant that there would not be enough for me because the store only carried 2 different kinds in single cans. I went to a different Kroger down the road and they had ample supply in many varities. I purchased 2 sets of 10. My first purchase was $10.75 oop and then I got a coupon out of the machine to take to Customer Service. I went there and the lady didn’t know how to ring it up and was unfamaliar with it. She took it to her manager and they said that it was something new that they were doing. They proceeded with the transaction to get me the $10 gift card. I then went through again to purchase the second set of 10 to roll the gift card for the least oop expense. The gift card didn’t work. The manager then came over and said that it was just loaded and takes some time for it to process, about 15-20 min. Well I waited 10 min and she came back over to finsih the transaction with the gift card. I received another coupon and I went and got my other $10 gift card. The bottom line of the entire transaction was 20 min. and $1.50 (tax) for 20 energy drinks.

    • Amanda S

You know, it really stinks when people buy something they don’t even like or want just because it is free. Then those of us who want or, in some cases, need the item, it’s not there. Just a thought to ponder…

    • Amy

I agree. Amp energy drinks are definitely a ‘need.’ Probably more important than air, water or food. What on earth did we do before Amp was invented in 2004?

    • Mitch

Haha. Amanda – how could any person possible need an AMP energy drink? They are absolutely horrible for you – bad for your heart, full of sugar, etc.

On a side note – it seems that lots of gas stations have the $1 off coupons. I went today to another one and grabbed half the pad. I am on my way now to use all 50 coupons I got. Wish me luck!

    • Lynn

Angela did you try it at the Forest Drive store yet?
I called the phone number and he said he would check it out for me and get back with me. He said something about the transaction not showing up yet. I guess I’ll call back again tomorrow and see if it showed up.

    • chrissy

how great i love the free drinks i could only use 1 there wasnt enough dinks to do 2 transactions.but still a great.

    • crystal

Personally I don’t think it is a bad thing to pick up things we don’t “want” or “need” (needing an energy drink is just ridiculous) but many of us know many people that we can give them to. So if it’s free and/or a money maker I don’t think it is fair to tell/ask us to ponder on it. besides it’s just silly to blame everyone else (if the item you are looking for is out of stock) for taking advantage of a good deal, if the item you “want” or “need” is out of stock don’t go blame everyone else, go to another store and get it like we do… food for thought, lol

    • Mitch

So, I just returned home from Kroger (Dallas Highway in Marietta, GA right across the street from The Avenue Shopping Center West Cobb). The store had a great stock (until I got ahold of it, lol).

I purchased 40 drinks, in four separate transactions. The gift card Catalina printed all four times. I was so excited! The best part was I paid $0 OOP aside from $2.40 in taxes because I had that tearpad of $1 off coupons.

So, thanks to this incredible site, I left with about $80 in energy drinks and a $40 Kroger gift card for $2.40. That is INSANE!!!

Good luck to everyone who had yet to make it to the store to try this, hope it works out for ya’ll! I plan on heading back out tomorrow and finding another tear pad of the coupons and doing another 40 or 50 drinks for more gift cards ;-)

    • Denise

Kroger was awesome this week. Total before $126.18..after was $56.18 plus the $10.00 gift card from AMP. Oh yeah this was 49 items.

    • Denise

I forgot this was at the Loganville Kroger near Maxie Price

    • kelly

works in Virginia Beach at all the area stores! did this deal all over, but hilltop location in VB is out!!! others have an AMPle amount left as of this morning. One associate said the sale ends today, so stock up! 10 for .75 (tax). What a great steal!!!!!! Got 50 in all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the tips!!!!!!

    • jj

THANK YOU FOR POINTING THIS ONE OUT!!! The lemonade flavor tastes best to me, watch out though – the numbers on the can are for one serving and tbere are 2 servings in the can. So share if you open one or you’ll be on the treadmill a looooooooooong time if you’re watching your sugar intake.

    • chrissy

i got the cherry one and didnt like it so much but im gonna drink it anyways cuz i love to drink energy drinks i know there bad for u but my house work says otherwise.lol i will try again for the lemonade one i like that.thanks for all the good advise everyone.

    • Wendy

Way to wipe our shelves clean, Mitch. Not cool! I couldn’t even get 10, and I checked 3 stores:(

    • the store in riverdale had plenty…today customer service said I was the second person all week to do the deal…they had no idea there was even such a promotion…i only got ten, 40 and 50 is ridiculous! maybe they will sell them to get more money cause the run about $3 at the convenience stores…o well

    • Mitch

      Wendy,

Did you check the same store I went to? It is a 24 hours location and they get trucks in with product nightly. They should have been restocked by midnight last night!

    • Pamela

Does anyone know if the amp deal will work in any NC stores?

    • Megan

      Did this end Saturday?

    • Teresa

When does the deal end? anybody knows?

    • Melissa

      *Interesting Info*

As I previously posted, I purchased 10 AMP drinks at two different stores but did not receive Catalina coupons for $10 gift cards.

I called 1-888-8COUPON and selected option 3 (consumer). I spoke with a very helpful representative named Shawn who took my name, phone #, and the date, time, and # off the receipts I had for the drinks. He advised me he would call me back within a few days after investigating the problem.

Well…He just called me back today (24 hours from our previous conversation) and got my address to mail me the coupons!!! Yay!

So..if you did not get a coupon SAVE YOUR RECEIPT and call the Catalina company. I am assuming this will work for all deals.

    • Megan

Worked today (Sunday) in Hardy, Va. U Scan catalinas do not work but cust. serv. gave me the $10 gift card.

    • lori

coupon printed out & worked in lynchburg, va… thanks.

    • Wendy

Ok Mitch, you’re off the hook now;) I was able to get 20 today at the store across from the Avenue. They allowed me to open up the sugar-free boxes, and scan them individually. Great deal!

    • Amanda S

Actually, folks, I wasn’t just speaking of the energy drinks. My comments were not actually referring to energy drinks. I know noone actually needs them. I’m not an idiot. What bothers me is when people buy something they have no intention of using or giving to someone else. But just to get the “high” of getting something free. There is no way I can ever get to the store before it is gone. I really think there are too many crazed couponers out there these days – meaning those who take advantage (in the bad way) of really good deals and coupon opportunities. I feel like we should only take/buy what we can use and allow others the same opportunities. Remember the Golden Rule, people?

However, I have really started to like rainchecks, but they wouldn’t work for any items you’d get the catalinas for. Rainchecks are usually the only way I get anything for free or pennies anymore.

Sorry for the rant, I’m really just tired of lugging the kids into store after store only to find out that the good deals are gone! Then, I come on here and find someone “bought” 40??? and thought they needed to go get MORE? Come, on!

    • Amanda

I went to my Kroger (Richmond, VA area)today and was able to do the AMP deal. There were not 10 on the regular shelf, but as I was walking around the store I saw a display of AMPs and a huge promotion sign advertising the $10 gift card WYB 10. The date stated until 7/29, however the 10/ get $5 sale ends tomorrow, so after that they will at least be the $1.50 and they will not be free. I am glad I saw the display of these. I had been in the store a few other times this week, since I was passing by anyway, and would have stocked up for my husband had I seen them sooner. He likes the sugar free version. I was hoping to find Qs at gas stations like others mentioned, but had no luck in finding ones for the AMPs. Anyway, I am glad I got some.

    • I totally agree with Amanda S. While I think it’s fine to go and do one or two of the deals I think it’s EXTREMELY greedy to get 50 or more of an item at one time. Clearing the shelves is TOTALLY not cool – yeah it helps you out but what about others? I did the amp deal and got 10 drinks and was good. I stockpile like everyone else but i definitely dont’ clear the shelves. I get really frustrated with harris Teeter’s coupon rules and policies (limits of 3 and limits of doubling only 20 coupons a day) but when people do things like clear the shelves….it makes me wish every store had limits.

and i’m not even talking about the amp drinks – i’m just supporting Amanda S’s right to her own opinion etc. I have a toddler and an infant and i’m a newly single mother…I don’t have a babysitter on call. When I shop I have a baby and a toddler with me. so I don’t always get the deals….Amanda is frustrated and i really can’t say that I blame her! (of course I live in an area where they don’t seem to restock the shelves AT ALL – they have been out of the playtex handsaver gloves at kroger since the FIRST DAY of the mega 10 sale….etc.)
