Every race day, I make sure I make it to my in-laws house. Nothing like watching racing with people who have been watching it for longer than I’ve been alive. We watch all the pre-show goodies with some sort of chips and dip. My favorite right now is buffalo chicken dip. Then we make a huge pot of spaghetti. Every time. Spaghetti doesn’t get old when it is a part of a great family tradition!

For both Daytona and Superbowl, I make homemade chipotle chili, breaded and baked low fat mozzarella sticks, and a light version of Applebee’s spinach artichoke dip. The guys go nuts!
One tip I definitely MUST share is to have someone as a designated driver and make sure everyone knows the party ends at a set time…cuts down on the people drinking too much…haha! Everyone knows if they come to my parties, they surrender the keys at the door if they’re going to be drinking.

    • l.a.

open a giant bag of tortilla chips. Easy!

    • stacey

We always grill Johnsonville sausages on the grill with toasted buns and sauteed peppers and onions. Plenty of hotdogs and hamburgers for everyone too! I make homemade salsa, spinach artichoke dip and chili cheese dips with plenty of different kinds of chips. All of my kids, brothers, nieces and nephews and even my ex husband come over to watch the race on the big screen. I was born in Daytona Beach and my Great Grandpa was one of the original mechanics and is honored in the Nascar Hall of Fame at the Speedway. Its a family tradition that means a lot to my family. Cant forget the ice cold beer and its a great way to kick off Spring.
