I just got back from Kroger and found lots of fun additions to the awesome General Mills promotion this week. I had it buried in the weekly ad post so here are all the details again. I love that it makes most of cereal aisle an incredible price.

My store didn’t have any closeouts today, which is rare. If you find any closeout deals leave a comment and help others find them!

When does the GM promotion end?

      • You know I was so excited at all the cereal that I forgot to check the tag for an end date…

        • Lara

Jenny, I'm wondering where you got the .99 (after deduction) price from. The cheapest cereal after deduction for me was $1.49. I was hoping the Total cereals were that cheap but mine were 2.79 after the $6 deduction :(

          • That's what they were marked in my store for most of the smaller sized boxes. They are on sale for $2.49 and then after the savings become $0.99 each.

          • Amymac78

Mine were the same way, still a good deal, but the cheapest I could find left on the shelf were Cinnamon Toast Crunch for $1.49, and a large box of regular cheerios for $1.49. With the $6.00 deduction and my coupons it was a total of $3.36, I believe, I don’t have my receipt in front of me. Ours were on sale for $2.99 and then after the sale it was $1.49. I will probably still go back this week and buy more, I wish I had some better coupons though.

    • Candiceburnham

      yay!

    • angela

Jenny, do you know which cereals were included? I am assuming that the only ones are the coupons you have listed? THANKS.

      • lovin life

I think it is all General Mills cereals which include:

Basic 4, Cheerios (any), Chex (any), Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs (any), Cookie Crisp (any), Dora the Explorer, Fiber One (any), Golden Grahams, Honey Nut Clusters, Kix (any), Lucky Charms (any), Oatmeal Crisp (any), Raisin Nut Bran, Reese's Puffs, Total (any), Trix, Wheaties (any).

      • It is every brand made by General Mills, even the random healthy types!

        • ireneY

Holy smokes, that's exciting! Thank you for posting!!

    • kforb

Can you stack the Kroger coupons with manufacturer coupons? I've never couponed at Kroger before.

      • Depends on your Kroger it seems. On their website it specifically states that you cannot stack paper and Ecoupons, but some stores do still alow it.

    • Amy

Can you do the cereal scenario over and over?

    • guest

I am in Georgia and my coupons are so different. Not even half the time are the coupons in the listed date. Any suggestions (besides using the printables)? Thx!

      • Chrissy

I'm a die-hard couponer and have an easy way to keep up with all my coupons. Each Sunday, I sit down with my coupon inserts and enter each coupon into an Excel spreadsheet. I do this with random coupons also. It really doesn't take as long as you think. In order to find a certain coupon, I just do a search and it pops right up!

        • Vivianmarie244

You too!! I thought I was the only one who did the spreadsheet thing. :) Sooo much easier for me. Before I even print my shopping list, I check to make sure I have that coupon on my spreadsheet. No need in having it on my list when I don't have the coupon to make it cheap! Glad I'm not the only one.

        • gfp0001

I started to do this as well because I get inserts from Alabama and California which are totally different! I just add the new inserts to my excel database weekly and whenever I need to search for a specific one I just type ctrl+f and type in the brand name. Much easier than flipping through each one!

        • Jackie

Holy cow! Really? I can't imagine typing all those coupons in by hand. More power to you guys! I have found an on-line list that is very accurate with the AJC. It save a lot of typing and fruitless searching.

        • Tonya

would u be interested in sharing your spreadsheet i would love to keep mine that way just don't know how to get it started?

    • sarahcas

If I recall correctly, I think I got a print off thing from the catalina machine a few weeks back about a catalina for nature valley granola bars. I think it's still good but I could be wrong. I don't remember how many you had to buy; probably 3-5 since that's what it usually is.

      • Marygreen_rn

I guess I don't understand and haven't understood what a “catalina” deal is… would someone explain?

        • Jen

It is a coupon that prints off after you have made your purchase. It is usually good on almost anything in the store. So, if the requirements were “buy 4 pizzas, get a $2 catalina;” after you had bought and paid for 4 pizzas, you would get back a $2 catalina (which is really a manufacturer's coupon).

      • Varussellfam

I bought NV granola bars today that were part of the promotion and they did print a catalina – I got $2.50 off my next order for buying 4 boxes.

    • Mrs Hawkins

      I don't see a $0.75 cellfire e-q for original cheerios.

    • kikig

I could not find any mention of the GM sale. Only a couple of GM cereals were on sale and there was no mention of getting $6 off. I am in Houston. Any idea if it applies here? Thanks!

      • Shaunahas6

I'm in Beaumont, and I'm pretty sure that we'll get this same sale — but not until Wednesday since our ads run Wed -Tues here rather than Sun-Sat like in Jenny's region. This really confused me at first when I started using this site.

        • Brooke

I didn't even think of that lol. Thanks for saving me an embarassing trip to the store lol.

        • kikig

OOOOOHHHHH!!!! You guessed it! I am new to the site and did not realize that! Thank you for clarifying!

    • Ank220

Were the nature valley nut thins included?

    • Stacey

Can you do the GM promo more than once per transaction like other promos? or can you only buy 4 things at a time to get the $6 off?

    • ttower

@@@@ IF YOU HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH STACKING E-COUPONS AND PAPER COUPONS.

Kroger loaded coupons now have this wording======

“Limit of one coupon per item. Digital coupons and paper coupons may not be combined on the purchase of a single item.”

This may have been added retroactively to some already loaded coupons. Not sure when the change occurred.

      • Bunchofpants

Ttower, here does that wording appear on your Kroger page? Mine says “*Limit one use for each coupon. A limit of 150 coupons can be added per card. All coupon values reflect exact discount at register. Regardless of normal store processes, coupons will not double.” I can't find any wording about no stacking. that would be a real bummer because stacking e and paper coupons has been one thing that keeps me shopping at Kroger.

        • If you follow the “Coupon Help” link at the bottom of the “My Coupons” page, this is under the category “Digital Coupon Rules”. I find it unsurprising that some stores still accept both (inconsistencies amongst stores can go for couponers as much as against), but the most the “gaps” will probably be closed by next spring. Personally, there's plenty of awesome deals without stacking paper and ecoupons, so I feel no need to test that limit.

          • Barb

I agree that all stores will eventually comply. However, many of the items that are affected by e-coupons are items I probably would not have bought unless they were close to free. An exception would be some of the P & G products, etc with high value e-coupons.

But, with the new rules, the chain is aptly demonstrating that they really do not want to encourage the use of e-coupons because many people will decline to load them since it takes away the choice of using either/or. Stacking is only one aspect. I do not like the idea of not being able to indicate whether I want to use the paper one (which can often be a higher value and can double). Those who frequent stores where stacking is not allowed have also discovered they cannot make a choice. So, the only REAL choice is using no e-coupons at all.

      • Brooke

I noticed this last week but people were still stacking them.

      • Natalie

I noticed this wording a couple months ago when I was frustrated when my deals didn't show up on my receipt. The customer service rep for Kroger said that they have always had this policy but some stores do not enforce it. I am in Richmond and sometimes my store does and sometimes it doesn't. It's so frustrating to never know, so I just have to assume that they both won't come off. Hope you all can enjoy the extra savings until your stores decide to enforce the rules. Good luck.

      • C_hakes

I was at the Grayson, GA store and they used both types of coupons for the ceral. I think it depends on the store.

    • Mandy

Be careful, they didn't have the GM deals entered into their system yesterday. I had to go to customer service afterwards and I still think I lost $$ somehow. Going back this morning to check prices.

      • Tebjer5

I am going to check my Houston store to see if this is available. I will post

    • Terri K.

My Kroger had several Method products on closeout. I got toilet bowl cleaner for $2.49 and all-purpose cleaner for $1.99. I used a $1.00 off coupon on each, so I got toilet bowl cleaner for $1.49 and all-purpose cleaner for $.99! Amazing deal!

    • Carol-young

Can't find the Kettle brand chips coupon on their website. any suggestions?

      • ireneY

I remember seeing in an insert recently, maybe a couple of weeks back?

        • Sparklecat2009

It was in one of my Oct Smart Sources but you can get the internet printable if you click on their little Facebook icon……it will take you to the coupon!!

      • Leigh318

Once you get to the Kettle website, go to the little Facebook symbol on the bottom. From there, there is a coupon tab. You don't even have to “like” them to print the coupon. You can print 2 as well

    • Susan in TN

How are you getting the free cereal? The price of the cereal is $2.99 not .99 cents in the ad.

      • DL

I was confused as well initially, then I realized that the automatic savings of “$6 off when you buy 4” was deducted from the final price, and their local price for that size is $2.49 – so I imagine the final price with your $2.99 will be $0.50 higher, or $1.49 rather than $0.99.

    • Rnvan

i was just at kroger this morning and they said that the nature valley granola bars and fiber one bars are not part of the buy 4 get $6 in instant savings.

      • Loueffie

What area do you live in? I was going to run out to my Kroger at lunch to see if I could get these deals.

      • Becca

I live in metro Atlanta and they were a part of the deal.

      • Guest

The deal can vary per stores too.

    • KellyH

Looking at my receipt from this morning, I'm pretty sure Kroger screwed me over. I got the $6 off my 4 boxes of cereal, but all 4 rang up at $4.29 each. Even after e-coupons and paper coupons, this still leaves me at $1.66 per box, but I think I should have done much better. BE CAREFUL your cereal is ringing up correctly.

      • Guest

May want to check to see if you got one on sale. Sometimes they leave out some sizes or kinds.

      • Gabriela

        me too!

I ended up paying more than usual for cereal. I also had some problems with the Chex Mix…. they didn't have the right size and ended up giving me a bigger size but the lady acted like I had some bad coupon! I don't like Kroger anymore!

    • Carrieblee

Can you do the GM deal more than once in a single transaction?

    • Barb

The ad I got in the local paper today says .99 after the $6.00 discount and the ad shown online for my area says $1.49 after the discount. Both say they are Knoxville area ads. It's not the first time this has happened, and they gave me the lower price, but only because I brought the ad with me.

    • Lisatipton35

I live in Michigan and our cereal deal is buy (4) items and get 3 gallons of milk for FREE (which is = to $6)

    • Cindy in Atlanta

My Kroger at Northlake (Atanta) just said corporate made a mistake and wasn't doing the Megaevent. I bought 4 bags of the Chex Mix and didn't receive my $6 off until I went to Customer Service. The employee had to go upstairs and talk with the manager and that's what he was told. BTW- they went ahead and gave me my $6 off since the sign was up. He said the mega event wasn't supposed to be held this week. (according to corporate) Good Luck and I hope mine was just an isolated experience.

      • Katkoupon

Did they say whether it is supposed to be next week? Just wondering if I should wait to avoid hassle. :)

    • Katkoupon

If the GM promo is not in our local ad, does that mean my store is not participating? Or is this an undavertised deal for all stores? Sorry, just not sure I understand.

      • Erin

I think it is advertised, but my store's prices are higher. It is on the front page, left hand side of my ad. Good luck!

        • Katkoupon

Oh gosh! I looked right over it! Was looking for a large advertisement, lol! Thanks!

    • Alicia

The Nature Valley granola bars nor the Chex Mix were on sale at my Kroger-East Cobb/Parkaire. Also, I did not get my $6 General Mills, although I was careful to select 4 boxes that were marked as participating. I was in a hurry and will have to go back for that. Maybe not all locations are offering all these deals.

      • lilmissgigglz

I just went to a Kroger in Woodstock and it did give me the discount. You may have to go back.

    • lilmissgigglz

I just went to the Kroger on Towne Lake Pkwy in Woodstock and be aware… very few boxes are the advertised $1.49 after discount, most are at least $1 more than that. After searching, I was able to get 2 boxes of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios for $.75 each, one Reese's Puffs for $.83, and one Cinnamon Toast Crunch for $.75. That was after the $6 and after my other coupons I brought and had loaded onto my card.

    • We just got back from Kroger in Cumming GA and they only had four cereals included in the sale, and were almost sold out of all but cheerios (which were the most expensive). Also the nature valley and fiber one bars were not on sale, not one single box from either brand. They were out of the one size of chex mix that was included in the sale as well, almost wasn't worth the trip considering I only went for the sale items!!!

    • Beth

We very dissapointed with Kroger today! The shelves were cleared out of almost all of the Nature Valley granola bars. I tried to buy 6 for the remaining boxes and two boxes of cereal. There were hang tags on all of the items that said – buy 4 save $6. When I checked out I did not get $6 for either set of 4 items. I was told the granola bars were not included in the sale – only cereal was pictured in the paper. No one would go back and look at the hang tags! I just had the cashier take off the 8 items and paid for the rest. The customer service person would only write me a rain check for the cereal because granola bars weren't pictured in the paper. So – the shelves are cleaned out of the bars – did everyone else get the deal – or did they not get it and just not notice? I then went to another Gwinnett Co. Kroger and found they did not have hang tags on the granola bars? So are they included in the deal or are they not?

      • yes they are I am in Morrow Ga and they are included in the one here !

      • Jennifer

The shelves being cleared out is the only downside to Southern Savers. There are some folks that get greedy so the rest of us cannot take advantage of a couple of great priced items. I have experienced it many times. I don't believe it is the store's fault that a few folks ruin it for the rest of us.

    • Loueffie

Just got back from Kroger in Nashville (Rosa Parks location) and both the Chex Mix and the Nature Valley bars were marked as “Buy 4 get $6 off.” The Chex Mix rang up correctly, but the Nature Valley bars did not. I went to customer service and the cashier walked back with me to look at the tags and then did a manual override on the price to $1.34 each (price after $6 savings). I got 4 bags Chex Mix and 4 boxes of Nature Valley bars for $1.73. Yay!!

      • Jennifer

I'm in Clarksville and the kroger I always shop at was cleared of granola bars, but had no tags to say they were included in the promotion… odd. I was so disappointed! I love love love the sweet and salty granola bars but can't bring myself to pay full price for them.. :(

    • Jilana Bond

Wow a trip to Kroger with out any problems. Left with 8 boxes of cereal and 4 giant bags of chex mix for $4.95. That is awesome! My receipt said I save 89%, doesn't get much better than that.

    • thanks so much !!

    • thanks so much just got 3 free bags of chex mix and a free box of cereal !!

    • Sara

The prices at my store here in Harrisonburg, Virginia were different than those listed – the least expensive cereals were $1.49 after the deal, which didn't make for free cereal after all. The coupons I had would have made it $1.16 each, which didn't seem that awesome after all.
And the Chex mix price was right, but the coupon I printed had the label “Do not double or triple” at the top and my cashier saw it and wouldn't double it for me. So no free Chex mix either. I ended up cancelling the whole order since this was the only reason I went there today. Very disappointing.

      • Caroline

I'm glad I saw this. I'm in Harrisonburg as well and am getting my coupons together to go this afternoon. I've never had a cashier there notice the “do not double or triple” on a coupon. All my e-coupons go through as well as my paper coupons so I've been pretty happy with them so far. I hope I'm able to get the Chex Mix and some NV bars.

    • Bryarsmom

Here in Atlanta 'burbs pricing was wayyyyyyyyy off!

      No deal here :(

    • Sokolsinga

My Gwinnett County Russell Ridge Kroger said the deal was limited to 2 deals per transaction… They ended up giving me 4 b/c I was having them not only refund my money but put all of the ecoupons back on my card and get all of my paper coupons out of the register, so they just gave me cash for the other 2 deals… no nature valley bars included that I saw listed, but they were out of them, so I'm not sure about what was going on with that

      • C_hakes

I always have problems with this store. I quite going to this location. I do not have issues with other Lawrenceville locations.

    • Megortiz63

Just came from the Kroger near Buckhead Ga on Peachtree Rd – they have a shopping cart full of the Kroger brand chocolate chip cookies priced at .99, and another cart of Kroger brand kids cereals – a variety , at .49 !

    • Mandy

A plus on the Cheerios box, coupon for $10 off Leapster Explorer plus a free online app. Great for Christmas!!

    • JenMcG

For the schick razors, there is a 3.00 off 1 package of Schick razors on smart source. If you use two $3/1 coupons you get two packs for 59 cents.

      • Miss

If they are $6.29 BOGO, they will ring up 3.15ea. Then use $3/1 x2 and get them both for $0.29!

    • Amy

I did this deal at Kroger in Charlottesville, VA. The cashier told me the Nature Valley products are part of the promotion, but the registers were not set up to recognize that. So she had to manually take off the $6. Got 3 bags of Chex Mix and 1 box of Nature Valley granola bars for 50 cents – sweet! Thanks, Jenny!

    • Beallteam

Here in Loganville GA the store manager said that at the last minute General Mills pulled the granola bars out of the promotion. Very sad!

    • Amber Renee

did anybody visit their kroger and see nature valley GM sale tags that have been partially removed? for instance, on the cereal there are big tags that explain the cost after purchasing 4. well, on the nature valley tags, i can tell that they were once there, but have since been removed. there's a small tag next to the price that reads “participating item,” but the price after purchasing 4 is no longer there. i'm in louisville, ky and tried two different locations. i didn't even attempt purchasing the items because i really didn't feel like going through the hassle if the items weren't included in the deal. any feedback would be appreciated!

      • LuBrad

Yes, same here in Bardstown. There is a GM participating item tag but the lower part has been ripped away. I purchased 4 NV products anyway and they did not ring up correctly, so I went to the customer service desk and she said they were old tags and that she would give me the $6 anyway. But really she should have given me one free and the correct price on the others, but I did not argue with her.

    • Lisa

There were shelf tags on the the Fiber One bars and Nature Valley Bars at a Kroger in Norcross, GA, however they did not ring up as included in the deal.

      • Whitney

Same at my store. The NV granola bars didn't ring up correctly, so the store gave me cash back.

      • Sam

Same in Cary NC. I bought 8 items that should have been included in the deal, but I only got one 6 dollar discount. The bars did not ring up. I did not have time to get my money back. I used a bunch of coupons so it was not horrible, I decided to chalk this up to experience. Everything was tagged correctly.

I love Kroger's deals but I HATE shopping at Kroger here. Good thing in Cary we have scores of Harris teeter, Lowes, Food Lion, Aldi and Trader joes….

    • scon

Free cereal was not my experience at the Hwy 5 Kroger in D'ville…. I took coupons and had one for each box. The $1.49 (lowest price) is the net effect of the $6.00 off. The cashier was also so fast that she missed one of my coupons. I wound up paying $1.15 a box, but had reconciled to the idea of paying less than a $1.00 a box, so needless to say I was a little disappointed. I truely was expecting the cereal to be free and it wasn't. Lesson learned. Marketing language lingo learned too.

    • Maara91

I received my mailer today and it is advertising .99c cereal. but when I checked on line..the add says they are at 1.49 !

    • The register didn't take the $6 off so a manager came over saying the items I bought weren't in the sale. I told her to just cancel my order but she went and checked and they were indeed marked as included. Then she did a bunch of confusing voiding and rescanning, by the time she was done I had no idea what I was charged for. I was holding up the line and incredibly embarrassed. My total seem kinda high so I went back inside and asked her again and she showed me where one cereal had been voided off. She seemed rather put off by me and I was kinda upset by that point. I went home and added everything up and I was overcharged by $4. My husband's in dental school and we're on a very tight budget. I'm going back tomorrow to get my money back.

Oh and before I went into the store all my coupons feel into a puddle of water. Oh what a trip!

    • ireneY

Arggghhh… the cereal sale was a huge bust in my ATL store. None were signed. I picked 4 and $6 did not come off. Cashier said only Cheerios (the two varieties shown in ad) so I swapped for all Cheerios, still didn't come off. Then she said they needed to be between certain weight range. Finally, I read the ad VERY carefully; in mice type, it said only $2.99 cereals are participating. I spent over an hour trying to figure it out at the checkout and customer service. Finally, I asked for a refund because the whole experience was just too frustrating. Went to Publix later in the evening and bought a huge bag of goodies for $3.xx, a smile and “good job!” from the cashier. Shopping IS a pleasure at Publix!!

      • Emily

I was behind someone in line last night @ Kroger who was buying 4 & $6 didn't come off. When the manager came to do the override, he said it won't come off if you don't scan your Kroger card first before scanning groceries. I've never heard that before and not sure I believe that. But, it's worth a try if any of you are going there to try the deal. Make sure they scan the Kroger card first! They are so picky!

        • ireneY

Thanks for mentioning it so it may help someone else, but the first thing I do at self-checkout is scan the card. Kroger is a freakin' pain in the neck!

    • KS

I went to Kroger in Athens yesterday after work. There was a printed sign near the cereal that basically said “we aplogize for any inconvenience, but the ad in the paper was not correct.” The cereal prices started at $1.49 and up. I also tried to get the Nature Vally bars but the shelves were empty. I then noticed that all of the sales/promotion tags were ripped in half. They guy I asked did not know about the promotion but told me to try back in the morning after they were restocked. I went back this morning and there was a new tag over the old one. They were priced at $2.89 and if you purchase 3 you get $1.50 register reward to spend on anything excluding alcohol. I am really starting to not like Kroger!!

    • WynetteC

A friend and I rushed out last night for this deal. The cereal was not free and any that would have been close to free were sold out. Chex mix (15 oz) was out. I ended up buying only (2 deals with 4 participating items in each) such as the cereals and the NV Granola bars and Fiber one bars only to find out when she totaled it out that *some* of the items were not included since it gave me only one six dollar discount. So I decided to take off the granola & cereal bars thinking they were the culprits and sure enough, my 1 and only $6 discount remained meaning only the cereals were included at my store. The granola & cereal bars were a no go.

But it was fun getting out to hunt for the deals, it was like an adventure seeking out treasure. Too bad they were out of the chocolate milk because I wanted to grab that while I was there. This is becoming a trend on that item! But I bought a regular gallon ($1.98 I think) with the intent to just add a large amount of Hershey's to it. :)

    • es

I wish I had read the comments prior to going shopping yesterday. I went with my 4 sons, which is difficult to begin with, but then I got to the checkout, and none of the granola bars or chex mix rang right, I had to have them voided…wow…I felt like crying when I left the store.

    • ddflamingo

well, i went for the schick razors, as they were b1g1f. that didn't work so good with the b1g1f coupons. they rang in half price and therefore, they would only take the half price off for the b1g1f coupon. so you would have still ended up paying for a total of one pack.. therefore, they got to keep it all, and i left. disappointing.

      • What I did with the razors was use two coupons there is one $5 off and a $3 off and I got both free it was a 4 pack and 8 pack. The coupons are on smart source.

        • ddflamingo

thank you!! i don't have those anymore. teeter had theirs on sale a while back b1g1f, and i think i used those then.. :( hopefully something will come up in the papers good for sunday, then i can use them then.
          again, thank you!!

    • ColaMom

Clearly this has been a huge issue for lots of people…but I went yesterday anyways. I originally had 8 boxes of cereal (they were out of Nature Valley Granola bars & the Fiber Ones weren't in the special. I went to the register and of course only 1 $6 came off instead of 2. I went to customer serivce and she walked back there with me and double checked each box. I picked up one wrong box, she voided it out and I ended up getting the other $6 off. With a few coupons, I spend about $13 on the 8 boxes. I did hold up a line for about 5 minutes, but that's life I suppose. Baby on the way and I will wait if I have too. I was very happy that customer service was willing to help so much! Definitely check all tags first and make sure they are ringing up correctly!!

    • Katkoupon

Wow! When I first read this post yesterday, I printed a whole bunch of coupons, so excited about the gm promo. Was planning to pack up my two young babies and head out, this deal was worth it! Then came back later to find so many people having problems, and I am so glad I read these posts before I made that trip! I am so sorry some people had such hard times, I will def not be heading out with the babies, not chancing a tough and disappointing trip! But thanks to those who shared their trips, however horrible some were. Will save my coupons (good for a month). There will always be another sale…

    • Hawkinsonfamily

This is my first time commenting. You ROCK! Kroger today…one box Honey Nut Cheerios, One box Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, One box Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and one bag Chex Mix. I had coupons loaded on my Kroger card and I had paper coupons…one that doubled. Total due: .66 Even the cashier had to look twice. Made my day!!! THANK YOU!!!

      • Hawkinsonfamily

Also, the Nature Made Granola bars were not in our ad. (Irmo, SC) The labels of each sale item were clearly marked. Make sure you are looking at the labels!

    • Jennyprice4

Luckily I had luck when I tried this today. Went to a Kroger in Raleigh NC. I got 2 bags of chex mix, a box of lucky charms, and a box of cinnimon toast crunch. I paid $3.17 with a couple of coupons. I'm glad I didn't have as many problems as some people are having. Good luck if you still plan to try this!

    • Joannashipp

I didn't read the comments before heading out to the store today. I was really going for NV bars. When I got to the aile the original NV (green box) had a promotion tag but they were all sold out. However some Sweet n Salty bars had the tag. I picked up a box of sweet and salty and then decided the peanut butter bars should be part of the promotion if the originals were. Then I went to get Chex mix. Grabbed 4 bags of those as well. I went to self check out and I didn't get my two $6 off. I asked and was told that only two flavors of Chex mix were included and NV was no longer part of the promotion. I had the attendent void my transaction and I went back shopping again. I checked the NV and the sweet and salty had a promotion tag so I grabbed 4 boxes. The Chex mix promotion was only for original and cheddar. I didn't want either so I passed. I went back to the self check out and told the attendent the sweet and salty were marked as part of the promotion. She didn't believe me and went to check for herself. She said someone had not removed the tag and she would give me the $6 off since the tag was still up. So…it was a lot of work and rather frustrating. I was planning on getting 16 things and ended up with just 4.

    • ireneY

For those of you lucky enough to shop at a store that hangs sale signs in a timely manner… if the sale doesn't ring up correctly, you should get one of those items free and the others adjusted to the correct price. It's their “scan right” policy.

    • SadieKy1974

Can anybody tell me – are shortcuts and cellfire Qs considered MQs or store?

      • Timmel

They're Mfg. Q's but they can often be used along with a paper mfg. coupon if your store allows it.

    • Juliea201

You should have no problem doing this deal as long as your store tags the correct product, and so long as you read the tags CAREFULLY. They did get tricky with this one. Not ALL sizes/varieties are included, nor are they the same price after the overall $6 discount. The cheapest cereal after discount (w/o coupons) at my store was Reeses Puffs at $1.29 (gone of course). After that there's a few at $1.49, a couple at $1.89, and then $2+.

That said, after the $6 came off, I ended up getting

2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch ($1.49 ea)
      1 Honey Nut Cheerios ($1.49)
      1 Apple Cinnamon Cheerios (1.89)

      Coupons:
      -(2) $.65/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch
      -(2) $.75/1 Cheerios (any)
-$1 OYNO Catalina (from a prev trip)
-$.55 Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cellfire E-coup
-$.55 Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shortcuts E-coup
      -$.75 Cheerios Cellfire E-coup

      Tax: $.49 / Total Paid: $1.20

    • TrishaGrambow

Just Left Kroger, I got 2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch, 1 HoneyNut Cheerios and 1 Lucky Charms, all were .99 cent when you buy for, I had 1- .55 cent off 1- box, 1 $1.00 off 3 and the 2 .55 cent off 1 box cellfire and shortcuts loaded.Plus a 1.00 off your order coupon. I SPENT .31cent and SAVED $15.15 . I was totally proud of myself! :)

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!

    • A Neeley

So new to this and going for my first Kroger trip today! Can someone tell me if you can still use a paper/printed coupon and an ecoupon for the same item? I thought I read on Kroger site that you can't use both. Thanks!

      • Juliea201

Kroger IS changing their policy per the website but it seems like many, if not most, stores still allow this. I would take your paper coupons, hand 'em over at checkout like it's no big thing, and see what happens. If the electronic ones don't come off, I wouldn't say anything as they tend to be much lower value and don't double like the paper ones do. If they DO come off and they fuss at you for the paper ones, then you know THAT Kroger won't allow it. Personally, the first time either of my Krogers makes a scene over my using paper with e-coupons, I'll just stop loading e-coupons altogether.

        • Brooke

My store takes both as well still. I hope they stick with it because we have no good grocery stores around here like Publix to shop at! Just Albertson's and Tom Thumb. I miss living in the southeast.

          • Kspeacher

I was able to use e coupons with my paper coupons on the cereal tonight in TN… no problems except my $6 didn't come off. They happily handed me $6 in cash. I wasn't sure if you could get more than one $6 credit on an order so I'm heading back tomorrow for the Chex Mix… hoping it will work tomorrow :)

    • Garyswife96

Didn't see it listed here or on the regular one. I may have looked over it. BUT the small Dawn dishsoap Hand Renewals are marked down to $1 @ my local Kroger and there's a 0.50 Q that expires the 31st. YAY for free anything : )

    • 1stTimeSAHM

I tried to get the chex mix, fiber one bar, granola bar deal (buy 4 get $6 off) and the bars were not part of the deal at my store, so I ended up getting 4 bags of chex mix. I paid $2 and some change because I only had 2 coupons, but still an ok deal. Just wanted to share…

    • Blem02

I wish I'd read these commentsbefore going to Kroger. Has anyone been able to get the $6 off the NV granola bars? I did 4 cereal and 4 granola bars and ALL were marked with the deal tags including the NV bars but I only received 1 $6 discount. When I went to customer service I was told it was a limit of 1 which I knew was wrong. Apparently they aren't honoring the deal on the NV bars but all all of them still have the deal tags. This is actully the first time I've had a problem with an advertised deal not working and I didn't go to my usual store.

      • Melissa

In my store, the signs were up for the NV granola bars on Sunday, but were taken down by Monday. I asked someone about it today and they said the deal is off–no explanation. I'm not sure he knew what he was talking about. Disappointing! Why have a sale for one day only?!

    • Amlfishe

I went to my Kroger in Duluth, GA and, though I bought 4 of the same box of cereal (Cheerios. We eat a lot of them around here.) and those boxes were on the display indicating the “Buy 4, Get $6 off”, I did not get my $6 off and, when I went back to get the error corrected, they'd taken down the sign on the display. Interestingly, all of the “free” Crest was mysteriously missing from the shelves, too.

      • Panelopebarnabus

Went to the Kroger in Duluth as well… Crest was missing, but I got a rain check. There was no sign at all on the end cap when I was there. I asked the worker at customer service which cereals were a part of the deal (because there were literally “participating item” signs randomly all over the cereal isle, but no sale prices) and she said, “only the ones on the end cap.”
I took some of the boxes up to check out that were marked as “participating items” and they indeed were not. What a mess it was!
Still got great deals on chex mix – got 12 bags for FREE and will be giving them away to family and food banks.
Has anyone actually found the granola bars as a part of this deal?

    • Natalie

Thanks Jenny! Skipped out on the cereal, but I got 4 bags of Chex Mix and 4 boxes of granola bars for $1.41. Yay!!!! :)

    • Mcvaytr

On these unadvertised deals, will there be a sign? I didn't see a sign or anything for the kid's toothbrushes. I found regular crest toothpaste for $1.

    • Lcode1

Hey Jenny(creator), which Kroger do you go to?

    • Tutibugs2

You know what? I'm on to Kroger and their bait & switch tactics. I've seen so many people on here say they paid more than they thought they would. They are RIPPING us off.
Don't you think it is funny that last week they offered the Athenos Hummus for $1 when there was a $1 off coupon in the paper. They know they are guaranteed a $1 from the manufacturer. I don't like their shady advertising tactics. They can join the ranks of Ingles with their CRAPPY coupon policy. Guess what. I would rather give my money to PUBLIX anyday of the week instead of giving one penny to these two stores who seem to be working against the very people who keep them in business. I plan on adding that comment to every blog I can find and then when I get all fired up, I'll just mail the nasty letter to the company I keep adding to every week I get mad about the crap they pull. Sorry for the vent, it just makes me mad that people are getting ripped off left and right.

      • Hender328

I don't understand your gripe about the Athenos Hummus. It made it free. It is normally $2.99 in my store so the sale for $1 dollar and the coupon was a good deal.

        • Tutibugs2

Oh no no! You misunderstood me. I am glad the Athenos was free. I get mad because Kroger can be very inconsistent which makes it hard for people to plan their shopping trips. I've been overcharged several times and had to go back and have it rectified. Putting a shopping trip together and figuring out what you expect to pay takes time and there is always a wrench thrown into the mix with Kroger.

      • Brooke

You know normally I would agree with this comment because this is usually the case for me as well. I always calculate my totals after viewing my local ad on their website and usually I end up paying more. The other day I went to Kroger and spent less than I actually planned on spending and that was with me buying a few extra items(bread, hot dog and hamburger buns) that I had not planned on buying. I spent $43 and saved $44. That was my best trip yet to Kroger. I have a trip planned for tomorrow but we will see how that goes!

    • Cindy

Another disgruntled Kroger customer here…. sure wish that I had re-read this page before heading out to see all of the latest warnings about the GM promo and the part about paying extra special attention to the cereal prices before checking out.

The cereal aisle at my Kroger (Gwinnett Co, GA) was covered in the signs apologizing for the 99 cents mistake and telling shoppers that the price should be $1.49 and tons of little “participating item” signs on everything. I carefully selected the cereals where the signs were and bought 3 sets of 4 (mixture of Cheerios, Fiber One, Total, Wheaties). At the checkout, 3 x $6 came off – but, each box rang up between $4.29-5.29ish, so after coupons I ended paying $2-3 ea.

Now as luck would have it, I ran into a neighbor/friend in line, so I didn't want to get into a big scene about all of the coupons and the prices – but, gosh darnit…. I NEVER pay that much for cereal – and this was supposed to be a deal. I feel scammed. It seems like it is always a hassle at this Kroger in one way or another and the deals are harder and harder to work.

      Thank goodness for Publix.

    • Live2crop

Got my cereal deals today but the prices were higher. When I went to get the fiber 1 bars and nature valley bars the tags had been cut off showing the top part of the sale but not the bottom part. Went and got a customer service person to come look at and explain and she told me that deal was off and that they don't take the tags down when sale over they just rip bottom half off, I think she was lying and was not very friendly about being questioned about it. I worked at Kroger for 4 years and have shopped there for 20+ years and I have seen them become very shady with sales now that more people in our are are using coupons. I would much rather shop at our local Publix where the deals are awesome and the service is wonderful.

    • Leigh

My kroger only had two flavors of Chex Mix tagged for the promotion and they were out of both of those. Has anyone tried any of the other Chex Mix that is not tagged to see if it worked or not?

    • Momto2

NO DEAL here in Virginia. I was so disappointed. HUGE bummer! The cereals were all $3 each and the NV granola bars were not included in the promotion.

      • Shellyobenshain

i'm in SW VA and our kroger had the cereal deal, most boxes were 1.49, larger ones were a little more, but still in the deal!

    • msval

went to my kroger in morrow, ga, spent a total of .03 that's included the taxes the cashier was even surprised, i purchased 3 bags of chex mix, and a box of cinnamon toast crunch, coupons used:

      (1) .50 e coupon for chex mix

      (1) .55 e coupon for cinnamon toast crunch

      (1) .65 manufacturer coupon for cereal toast crunch

      (3) .50 manuf. coupons for chex mix

what a deal just wanted to share this

    • Patricia

I had a great shopping trip at Kroger tonight! I bought 2 pks 16 count Kraft American sliced cheese, 4 boxes Cheerios, 1 cake mix & 1 frosting, 2 pks 4 rolls toilet paper and 1 package of rice for less than $11!! That's less than $1 each!! Woohoo! Thanks for posting the extra savings you found this week! Saved me money on the Cheerios! :-)

    • Hender328

There are a lot of comments on here about the NV Granola Bars and the Fiber One bars not being included in the $6 dollars off deal. I would say that it would be a good idea to look up your local ad before heading out to the store. My local Kroger only lists the cereal and doesn't list any Granola bars or Chex Mix.

    • Cathy

So after reading all the comments on here about so many problems with the Kroger GM deal, I went to my local Kroger here in Arkansas with very low expectations this morning. I guess I was one of the fortunate ones, though, since I left with some AWESOME deals!

I bought 20 items that had the GM tags – including 8 boxes Fiber One bars (my kids LOVE these) and 3 boxes of Nature Valley bars. The computer only gave me 2 x $6 off but the cashier checked with the Manager and then gave me the other 3 x $6 discounts. She said that the manager told her that the granola bars were not actually part of the sale but since the tags were still hanging that I should get the discount. They were in the process of pulling those tags – I had shopped just in time!

Like many of the other comments on here I'd say, if you head to Kroger, be careful to look for the tags and then hold the store to honoring which ones are tagged as part of the GM promotion!

My total savings (from Kroger discounts and coupons) was $51.99!! :)

    • A

I went to a Kroger in NW Houston this morning. I was well prepared after hearing the stories, I didn't even grab a cart on the way in. To my surprise and delight, the HUGE bags of Chex Mix were covered. The NW granola bars were completely empty on the shelves, but weren't covered in the sale. I got 11 boxes of cereal, 9 bags of Chex Mix (and I didn't even clean them out) 2 of the Schick razors 4 packs, with each having 2 bonus ones and 6 Yoplait yogurts.for just over $13. I did have two coupons rejected, because I had e-coupons as well, but the cashier pushed them through, they just didn't double. I also figured out if you have an e-coupon for something specific, like 55 cents off Cinnamon Toast Crunch, you can also use the $1/2 GM cereal with it!

    • Brooke

My Kroger in Texas is advertising $1.49 a box after the $6…oh well. Still a good deal.

      • Brooke

Just figured out a deal for 8 cereals for only $3.62. I hope it works!

    • Kristanjeancrass

I was very disappointed when I went to Kroger last night. I couldn't wait to load up on the Nature Valley bars. When I got to the aisle, it was the Kroger brand bars on sale. The tags had been ripped off the NV brand. Very disappointed.

    • Leigh

I was able to find the big 20 oz. bags of Chex Mix at the Athens Ga store today, but the cashier didn't want to let me use the e-coupons with the paper coupons, but finally did. Then she wouldn't double my coupons because they said “do not double”. Anyway, I ended up with 8 bags for $2.52 so it was still a good deal, but they are not nearly as nice as the Jefferson store!!

      • Carol

Yes, Jefferson has the nicest store around!

    • Jerziepeach

Cumming- GA Kroger the managers were no help at all! After ten minutes trying to find which cereals were part of the sales I did get 4 boxes for $3 (used 2 -55 cents, 1- 75 off two Cheerios & a $1 off 3). They were sold out of the Chex Mix so I took a rain check which took ANOTHER 10 minutes to figure out how to write up and the Nature Bars weren't part of the sale (yet they were sold out..hmmmm think they figured that one at fast). I was frutrated to say the least. Blah.

      • Donna

The Kroger I shop at in Alpharetta was the same – cereal only. I KNOW at the beginning of the week I saw the granola bars, which my husband loves, marked on the shelf as “buy 4 get $6 off.” They were sold out. Went back today and they had them, but the sign was gone. Even checked with customer service, who confirmed they were NOT part of the deal. Grrr. Should have got a raincheck.

    • traci

Went to the Athens Ga Kroger and took advantage of the cereal deal. After reading this post I was glad to see that the store very clearly had the cereals marked. I think I got the last 4 Chex mixes they had and had to climb the shelf to get them. Got 10 of the frozen dinners by HungryMan and Marie Call for 5.00. Kroger always has killer meat deals on Thursday and Friday to get rid of the meat with the next few days expiration BUT they are perfectly fine to freeze. They had huge roasts for 5.00, Angus steaks for 2-4, Angus hamburger patties or 2.00 and Butterball #1 packages of ground turkey for 1.00 and boneless pork chops for 3.50. Stocked me for the month for about 45.00. Also look by the butcher counter because they put that meat and fish on clearance too. All told I spent 65.00 but saved 120.00 and got our meat for the month.

    • CouponNERD

I went to my Columbia SC Kroger and got 3 boxes of plain Cheerios and a box of Lucky Charms for $1.31!! I had some e-coupons and the $1 off 3 as well as a $.75 Cheerios coupon.

They were sold out of Chex mix, but I got a rain check for those as well as a rain check for 4 more cereal boxes.

Customer service said that they have a truck coming in tomorrow, so I'm going to go again tomorrow night.

Also, the NV granola and Fiber One bars were not marked as being part of the promotion, nor were they shown on the big display poster on the cereal aisle.

I still may try my luck with those tomorrow. The worst thing that could happen is that I return them!

    • Kroger shopper

Make sure to check your local Kroger Ad, Georgia stores only have the General Mills cereal as part of the offer and the final price is $1.49 ea not $0.99. Different areas of the country have different offers.

    • Sparklecat2009

Thank you so much for this!!! I went in today and it was pretty picked over but I got what I wanted. I got 1 package of Tyson Split Chicken breasts, 2 packages of Sweet Moments, 1 big bag of Chex Mix, 1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and 2 Corn Chex cereals for a grand total of $7.10!!! It was great!!!! GM deal went smoothly for me.

    • Rebeccas2009

Is this still in effect? I've never shopped at Kroger before so I'll have to get a card.

      • Brooke

Yes this ad is in effect until Saturday or Tuesday. Depends on your region. Check your ad online or in the paper for the sale dates.

My Kroger in Marietta had McCormick Grinders for $1.00. If you buy three you get a Catalina printed for $3.00 on your next order. Makes them free! The Catalina deal end October 31. Flavors are Cinnamon Sugar, Lemon & Pepper, Peppercorn, and Sea Salt, plus many others. I found these in the spice section.

My Kroger had tons of Chex Mix and almost all the cereal left. I got 2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch, 2 Trix Swirls, 1 Apple Cinnamon Cheerios, 1 Reese's Puffs, and two bags of Chex Mix for $6.13. Would have been better if all of the cereal were on sale that I had ecoupons for, but oh well. Still a good deal. Saved $14.40!

My Kroger didn't have the Fiberone bars or Nature Valley bars on sale. :(

just bought a ton of the GM cereal in Jefferson, Ga, (they are great about coupons by the way) but the price was more like $1.30 per box using both the deal and several coupons. I ended up getting 20 boxes of name brand cereal for $26 (saved $50), definitely not free but a really good deal.

Help, anyone. Just started using this site, and use another one routinely. I've kept it simple, not worrying about trying to stack/combine coupons. I'm wanting to step it up a level. I'm getting confused with the ecoupons and printable coupons. I didn't think these could be combined with the regular manufacturers coupons???? The other site I look at showed you could get the chex mix for 25 cents a bag if you did the buy 4 get $6 off, used the $1/2 coupon from the 9-12 smartsource, and then use the “Shortcuts” coupon to get an addtional 50 cents off two. Didn't think I could combine the shortcuts coupons with the regular (paper) coupons.

Some Kroger stores will let you stack them and others say you cannot. On the Kroger website it states they cannot be stacked but some stores are continuing to allow it. Check with your store to see what their policy is on e-coupons.

A good southern woman never runs out of butter (it freezes, and you always go for that sale even if you have a dozen or two in the freezer). I'm from St. Louis , but I spent too many years in the good south. Miss it in Ohio (they are as dumb as cabbage)( yea I know I married one).

I went yesterday to do the Chex Mix deal and bought some apples too since they were only $.68/lb. I had four e-coupons loaded and four $.50/1 coupons that all doubled so I got 4.5lbs of apples and 4 bags of Chex Mix for $1.15!! 95% savings!

I wish this post would have had a start/end date. I went on 10/31 to my Kroger and apparently the GM promotion ended on 10/30…so I got screwed. What should have cost me less than $5 ended up costing me triple that! Lesson learned….don't totally rely on the websites- call the store!

In general I find that Krogers treats me well. Rain checks when the run out which are good for 30 days (and they ALWAYS run out) are a great opportunity to wait for new coupons and Kroger always honors them. Now I don't LIKE making scenes either….but if something is advertised and it isn't “made good on” by the manager I would just request my coupons back, a refund, and then let them restock the cart full of items. Yeah, I've wasted my time….but if that is the response to any deception or errors that aren't fully corrected they WILL get the message. But hey with coupons this week I'm getting Carnation evap milk at 19 cents a can, Campbells gravy at 29 cents a can, Chunky soups at 49 cents a can and Swanson broth at 29 cents a can. How can you complain about these prices?

And thanks to the site for putting the information out there….we all just have to do OUR homework in the store too so as not to get confused misled etc etc. And you can always take items back if you find the cost was more than you expected or was advertised.
