I had a very crazy walk through Kroger tonight with over 100 youth doing  a scavenger hunt.  By the end of my trip I think I told at least 15 kids where Spam was, and another 10 ask to help me with my groceries (I didn’t have anything except a clip board).

There were a number of unadvertised deals though, including a better Pillsbury Breads deal than last week!  See the full list here.

Do you need Candy for any upcoming events??

Starting next Sunday 10/18-10/31, Buy $25 in Hershey’s Candy at Kroger and get $5 off your next trip

-$1/3 Hershey’s Snack size Bags SS 9/27
B3G1 Hershey’s Snack Size Bags SS 10/18 (coming next Sunday)

I don’t know the prices yet of these bags but with the two coupons together and the savings coupon this might make for some of the best “late October” candy prices you will find.

(thanks “Lil Birdie”!)

I didn’t feel like shopping today, but I NEEDED milk. Since that Kroger is a stone’s throw from me, I usually just run in there if that’s all I need. It’s not worth the gas and time to go elsewhere. So, I try to not have to make milk runs.

You just made me very glad that I DIDN’T go to Kroger tonight!

It wasn’t a difficult decision tonight, though. Either go to busy Kroger and wait in line to spend $5.16 on 2 gallons of milk, or drive those extra 5 minutes to the friendly Publix and spend $5.97 on 2 gallons of milk, 6 boxes of cereal that we like, and a brick of coffee that my son wanted. (Plus 3 reusable bags, if I had wanted them.) Reading that I missed craziness made me even happier not to have been there. :-)

That reminds me, I haven’t been on the lookout for the best candy deals going on right now. I have to get my Trick or Treat stash, anyone found any good deals yet? I don’t normally buy candy, so this is a tricky one for me to price out and spot a deal.

    • MelRae

What will make this really great is if my Kroger does super doubles to match Harris Teeter (IF HT does super doubles). I don’t know if they will, I am just hoping they will before the 31st, as I have lots of coupons for $1 off candy. Yep, need it for my church’s trunk or treat!

    • Katie

Well, I went to Krogers last night and they had peelies on the Hershey’s products (on the actual bags) for .50 cents off and they are on sale right now 2/$5. The peelies doubled, so $1 off each bag made them $1.50 each…the best deal I’ve seen :-)

    • Jenny, this is my first Halloween season with Southern Savers – do you add candy to best deals? I usually start buying candy early because it is so expensive, but we had surpise emergency car repairs and surprise emergency dental surgery in September. If it wasn’t for you, we’d be eating beans and rice right now! I’m afraid we might have to shut up the house and pretend we’re not home on Halloween because even cheap candy ain’t cheap no more!

      • Jenny

I will keep track of candy prices for you. So far the best has been at CVS with the ECB deals, and adding small bags in as filler items, but Kroger has this deal and it appears from my run in the rain to get the new ads that P has many B1G1 very soon…

        • Amy

I also seem to remember in some of the ads that Target frequently has store coupons for candy… I never look closely, though, since I don’t buy candy except for at Halloween!

CVS has a deal (started last week and runs thru Oct 24)5ECB wyb $20 in candy. I used my ECB to pay for most of it and used a raincheck from last weeks to combine the Hershey’s and Mars sale prices and bought 8 bags of Hersheys brand and 8 bags of Mars brand and spent $3 OOP. I started with $10 ECB and my insert coupons for the candy. I went last week but their supply was out so I thought to do a rain check and come this week. When I checked out the cashier printed 2 $5 ECB since the ECB # was different for each week (so 1 ECB for rain check and 1 for current weeks deal)and I bought both so maybe you could do the same this week and next? HTH

I’ve been buying bags and bags of candy for the past several weeks…I lost count, but I probably have at least 24 bags or better by now.

How I’ve been getting it is by using the $5/$25 Rite Aid or $5/$25 flu shot CVS coupon, with the Manufacturer coupons, and sales, to get the candy free or cheap.

This week Rite Aid has bags of Fun Size candy for $1.88 a bag. They also have a TON of Free-After-Rebate items.
Buy 4 bags of candy, which adds up to $7.52, and use (2) of the $1/2 Candy q’s from the past two weeks’ papers.
Then buy $17.48 (before coupons) worth of FAR items (many of them have coupons which will make you a profit after rebate).

Use the Rite Aid $5/$25 coupon, and in the end it makes your 4 bags of candy cost $.52 plus tax…or even free if you make profit on the FAR items.

There are enough FAR rebate items this week you should be able to break it up into about 3 transactions, which would come out to 12 bags of Halloween candy, free or nearly free.

      • Sarah

I bought my candy at CVS and Rite Aide with the coupons and the EBC’s and the $5 off . . . I felt I was getting a pretty good deal!

    • Katie

Question…will you get the $5 before or after you use coupons on the candy? Just wondering the best way to work this deal :-) Thanks…LOVE LOVE this site!!!!

      • Jenny

It will be a coupon to use on your next purchase.

        • Katie

Sorry Jenny…I don’t think I clarified my question..lol. So, if the candy is 2/$5 and I purchase say 10 bags of candy which is $25 and then have 10 coupons that are .50 cents each..will I still get the $5 coupon for my next purchase or does the $25 purchase on candy have to be after I use the coupons on the transaction? Hopefully that made better sense :) thanks

          • Jenny

Oh sorry, yes it is $25 before coupons!! Should make it around $1 a bag after all coupons depending on price.

    • CANDI

I have a question about the pg esaver coupons.

If i bought more than one pantene would the esaver coupon be applied to each one (bought 3 pantenes get $3 off) or would I only get $1 off one?

      Does anyone know?

      • Alyssa

You would only get one eSaver discount on the first Pantene you buy – $1 off. However, you can use a paper coupon on the same item. I think there is $1 off a Pantene styling product in the 9-27 PG coupon insert. That would be $2 off the purchase of (1) Pantene styler. HTH!

    • Lyn

      Jenny,

My $1/3 coupon from 9/27 expires today. Is that true for you too?
