The Kroger Weekly ad was 2 pages smaller than normal.  Since Kroger is actually the worst store for how they advertise this doesn’t really affect our list too much.   The Frozen Goods Mega event continues this week (this is the last week.)

**Found some good deals in the store so check the list again to make sure there is nothing you need**

    • Mina

I’m lovin’ this ad because there are no deals that I need to take advantage of, and there’s not a thing tempting me, either. My pockets would be happy to take a break from the grocery stores.

      • Dee

EXACTLY my thoughts! I have reviewed multiple times, but since I have stocked up with previous week savings, I am only having to may a Fresh Fruit/Produce run this week! This is AFTER having taken last week as my “BYE” Week — two in a row! Love the savings! Well, I also have made a remarkable savings of rolling my cash/bucks/etc. at the Drugstores this week as well.

    • Leane

I got a P&G coupon booklet in the mail this week that I need some clarification on. It appears to be for a save a lot food stores (of which I have never heard of). Are these coupons usable for Publix,Kroger, etc???? I live in Cumming Ga.

      • I am going to try the Save-A-Lot coupons today. 5 or 6 weeks ago, I used coupons from B J’s(Berkley and Jensen-eqiuvalent to Sam’s Club) My local Publix took them!

      • Leane,
I got the Save a Lot P&G Coupon book too recently, they are manufacturer coupons and you can use them anywhere. I used one of the coupons at Walgreens just two days ago on some Always pads.

      • I wanted to clarify regarding the paper coupons and PG ecoupons. I am thinking that I can load the PG ecoupons to my account and use it along with a paper coupon in store. Is this correct? Thanks.

        • Jenny P

You can use them together. See the #2 bulletin under Jenny’s reminders at the top of the post for more details on why.

    • I agree with Mina, this doesn’t look like a good shopping week at Kroger, nothing really enticing me either, which is great!

    • .Jennifer

I’m excited about the spare ribs (LOVE these!) and the eggs. I got the B1G1 egg coupon last week so that will make for $.50/dozen eggs!

There is quiche in my future! :-)

    • I get the flyer via email and I thought it was super short too! Here’s hoping there’s more they aren’t advertising. It’s not looking like a fantastic week but I think there’s potential for some rebates… All You October had an insert for Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers or Marie Callendar (Buy 1, send in receipt/upc/form) where you could get your money back OR four coupons for $1.50 off each.

Also, Hip2Save posted about a $10 voucher for toys wyb 5 participating Kellogs products (with “tokens” either on the box or inside as marked). One of them is Cheezit Party Mix and if that counts with the Buy 3 packs of Coke, then you get 2 free and only have to buy 3 more items (potential moneymaker).

    • Nina

Can someone verify that the $1/2 Aunt Jemima coupon is working on the breakfast items that are listed? Also go here http://therealmealdeal.com/ for additional savings coupons/rebate which would match up with some of the frozen items this week.

      • Rachel

The Aunt Jen coupons worked for me last week on the frozen sale. 12 pancakes a box for only 50c! I don’t think I could make them that cheap. And my family loves them!

    • Katie

I found a great deal on candy today at Krogers…on the skittles, m&m’s, hershey’s, & a few others Halloween candy that are 2/$5…there is a .50 cent peelie on the bags to use at checkout (it says “do not double” on the coupon) however, when the cashier scanned them the coupons doubled, so $1.50 for each bag!!!!! That is the best deal I have seen. I’m going back there to purchase more candy for Halloween this week!!!!!

    • Sandy

I love your website! I check it every week. The new Create a Shopping List is so helpful. Is there a way to create one shopping list for 3 stores? For instance, I shop at Publix, but also at Kroger and Ingles. Thanks for everything.

    • Sue

I bought tons of the Pillsbury rolls during last week’s sale and didn’t receive any “save $2 on your next order” coupons. I assumed they would print out. I was at my all time LEAST favorite Kroger in Lawrenceville where I’ve had issues like this in the past. Is there anything I can do, after the fact?

      • Jennifer

Did your store participate? Mine didn’t. If it did, it probably depends on the manager. It never hurts to call the store to check.

      • Brenda

Mine did not print either, Sue. I was too busy getting my things back together to notice the cashier did not put a catalina with my receipt (I just assumed it printed). So, I’ve already used a lot of my Pillsbury coupons, will have to scare some up to try again. :(

      • Hi Sue, which Kroger did you go to? I went to the one at the intersection of Cruse Rd and Herrington in Lawrenceville and bought 6 cans of pillsbury and it printed out a $4 catalina off next order. It was interesting b/c the catalina coupons were long (about 6 at least) from previous customers. I asked the cashier if I could have all the coupons/print outs and she said no and trashed the others and gave me my pillsbury one…She did have a hard time taking my $2 healthy choice coupons b/c the register kept saying no match found but she pushed them through finally. I had 4 coupons and 4 healthy choice so they were free + overage!

        • Sue

I was at the Kroger on 20, heading toward Mall of Georgia. It’s horrible. Had to argue with the manager who wanted to charge me the difference between current price and price I paid a couple of weeks ago on Purex. I got the regular detergent, so I brought it in to exchange it for the HE, and had my receipt too. It would have been easier if I hadn’t brought in the receipt. Finally convinced him it just an even exchange. Then after ringing up many Pillsbury rolls, the cashier hands me all but two of my printed coupons back. Informs me that stores aren’t supposed to accept more than that per same item. Hum, Publix does it all the time. So, not getting the $4 off next order was just the final nail in the coffin. What is up with Kroger lately? I was actually glad to hear that they’re not doing very well. Publix and Chick-fil-a are great examples of stores who bend over backwards to please their customers AND we reward them by staying loyal to them.

      • Catherine

When it comes to the Pillsbury save money on your next order deal, I got a printout 2 weeks ago from my Kroger that said it ran from October 10 through November something. The important part was that I waited to do my biscuit shopping until the 10th. It might be your Kroger did the same, with a certain date before the Catalinas would print.

    • Billie

Can someone help me find a coupon? The Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers 40/1 is supposed to be in the ss from 10/4. Is that the one with the pink tone to it and the black man on the front? I’ve looked through it 3x and can not find it!

I do sometimes forget to put the date on the coupon booklets till later, but I could have sworn that was the one from last weekend!

      Thanks for any help!

      • Laura

I had the same problem and finally found it. There was a General Mills Everyday saver in the paper too, and it was in there. It has a Pink ribbon on the top half and Wanchai Ferry coupon on the bottom. The Green Giant coupon is on the last page.

        • Billie

          Got it! Thank you!

    • Lori Davidson

I’m so happy to see that I get a Kroger break. My head is spinning between work, a new baby, and shopping. I wanted to say thanks to all of you for your help with saving money!

    • Traci M.

Same here regarding the ‘Kroger Break’….the only thing that looks 1/2 way decent is the International Delight creamer for 1.99…that is the lowest price I have seen in a Long time…Thanks for all the work you do on this site Jenny !!!!!

    • Stephanie

The kroger pillsbury deal breaks down as follows:

      Buy 4, get $2 OYNO
      Buy 5, get $3 OYNO
      Buy 6, get $4 OYNO

The smaller containers are included in it and the deal should be running from 10/4-11/1 according to the printout/tag in store.

    • Donna

      Crazy Question
Does anyone know if you can freeze pillsbury biscuits, sweetrolls, etc? I am overloaded! :)
      Thanks

      • Charity

I called the 1-800 number on the biscuits b/c I had the same question. They might not rise correctly if you freeze as is. You can bake and freeze them, but not directly in the can.

      • Rachel

I wouldn’t freeze them in the can because they may burst after expanding in the freezer. I would think taking them out of the cans and putting them in freezer bags or larger containers would work.

        • Cindi

Yes, I have also done it this way too.

      • Cindi

YES you can! I do it all the time…and they come out fine, I set it out in the morning if I want to use that evening…HTH!

    • amy

Took advantage of the olay/pantene $20 mail in rebate at Kroger yesterday.
Olay anti aging eye roller $17.99
      Pantene shampoo 12.6 oz. $2.88
After mir: total oop:$.87 plus tax
      Giving olay for christmas gift.
      Thanks.

      • Laura

Thanks for the deal idea! I did this with a $1 coupon on each to make it even better!

    • Rachel

      Hi there,
I’m new to this couponing thing, but I’ve noticed that the prices at my Kroger in NC aren’t as low as the prices noted here on Southern Savers. Are there regional price differences?

I was still able to get some really good deals, but a couple of things that should have been free were not because they were prices slightly higher at my Kroger.

      Thanks!

      • Debbie

There is a good bit of regional variation in prices. Middle Tennessee prices are notoriously higher (although I’m thankful for those double coupons) – for example, I believe Kroger pepperonis were listed on SS as $.99 last week, but here in Middle TN, they were $1.49! Things aren’t usually 33% higher in price, but they are a good bit higher in price… (again, trying not to be too WHINEY, but it is discouraging!)

    • Sarah

Donna- I have read where people have frozen these (in the original packaging) for up to a year. They said to make sure you completely thaw the dough before cooking, but that it works well.

I also just baked some crescent rolls that I had forgotten about in my refrigerator with a date of Apr. ’09, and they were perfectly fine and baked up to normal size. We aren’t big bread eaters, but I’m going to use our surplus (8 pkgs crescent, 3 orange rolls) for holiday gatherings. HTH!

    • Catherine

I’m glad that it’s not a great week, cos I am out of town for most of it! I did stop by and get my newspapers Sunday morning before my flight out, so they are waiting for me in my car when I get home. :) Thanks for everything, Jenny and your many helpers!

    • Rebecca

I don’t do Kroger very often and can someone help me know if you have to buy 10 items to get the savings? (buy 10 frozen mega event) Thanks!!

      • Cindi

You do have to buy 10 participating items to get the $5 off, you dont have to buy 10 of the same item.

    • Ashley

There is a $1.00 off 2 Campbell’s chunky soup coupon on FoodLions page. Since they are on sale this week if you use the coupon it makes it a pretty good deal.

      • Kim

good deal, only if your Kroger takes competitors coupons, my Kroger stopped taking them 9/20/09 – I was really bummed.

        • Ashley

It says food lion in the corner but it also says manufactors coupon along the top.. Wonder if I can sneak it by LOL.

Does anyone know the zip code to use to print the Zatarain’s coupon? I can’t find it.

      • Mawz

I could not find Zatarain’s either- Zip Code?

      • Cindy

I can’t find it either…I just figured that it expired or something. But if anyone can find it, let us know!! I’m craving some red beans and rice!!

    • Nancy StJohn

I am just now getting into this site and love all the coupons!!!

    • Erin Harrison

Hello! Just wanted to let you all know you can load coupons onto your Kroger card from Unilever at http://www.softcoin.com.

      Happy couponing!

      • Mawz

The Unilever promotion is over :(

    • Kim

Is there a list of the mega event items for this week?

    • Angie

I went to Kroger yesterday and did not see this mentioned anywhere. The Oikos greek yogurt is 10 for $10 — there are $1/1 insert coupons available! :) I got 4 free yogurts!

    • Amy

Just got back from Kroger on Lake Murray Blvd and they are having a 3 Day Sale!! Includes:
      Blue Bell Ice Cream $2.98
      Lays Potato Chips $1.88 ea
      Turkey breast (bone-in) .99/lb
      Apples, 3lb bag $1.48 ea
      Kroger Choc Syrup $1.39
      BigK 2ltr .69/ea

ENJOY!! I also noted that the Crescent Rolls at my store are $2.09 not $1.69 .. but great deal with the $2 ONYO!!

      • Kim

My local Kroger (Rockbridge Rd. in Stone Mountain/Lilburn) had the same sale going on. I didn’t buy any of the items, though, because I wanted to check to see if there were any Blue Bell or Lays coupons.

      • Stephanie

My Kroger also had pork tenderloin for .99 a pound. And there is a $1 Blue Bell printable out there. I had two with me.

      • Jennifer

Thanks for the heads up. I loaded up on Blue Bell. I printed 2 $1off coupons off of the website, but it is a great deal without coupons.

    • Erin B.

i can’t find the cocoa puffs q. zip code anyone?

    • Gail

Just wanted everyone to know… not every Kroger will take the $2.00 coupons. My Kroger in Clinton, MS would not take it last week for the Healthy Choice frozen dinners. Cashier said Krogers didn’t do that.

      • Jennifer

Mine is the same. It will take internet coupons, but no higher than $1.00. They won’t let you use duplicates of the same coupons either.

        • Jennifer

I meant to say that they won’t take duplicates of internet coupons. They will take duplicates of regular coupons from the sunday paper though. Sorry for the mix-up. Every Kroger is different though.

      • Mindy

Well, let me ask you about this. There are some $3.00 BIC Soleil coupons out there. Do you think Kroger will take those? I was hoping to do this awesome deal. I check another website as well and for my zip code it said that those razors would be $6.38 (B1G1) and I would end up getting them for .19 cents each. I had about 8 of those coupons and was wanting to rack up. They are q’s from SS. What kind of coupon were you trying to use?

I was excited about my Kroger list. I almost have a 2 pg listed printed out. I haven’t been shopping in 2 weeks either!! :)

        • Ashley

          Where are the razors B1G1?
          Thanks!

          • Mindy

            Supposed to be at Kroger.

        • Laura

I went to Kroger @ Hamilton Mill and Ridge road and they had the Bic Soleil 4 pack disposables for 2.84. The cashier made me do separate transactions, but it came to $3.01 each. Nice razors for a penny! They were on a cardboard display thing at the end of the aisle.

          • Mindy

How many did you buy? I have like 8 coupons so I was going to load up, but I guess I’ll find out when I get there. I hope I have that kind of luck!!

    • Michelle

I was able to go to Kroger yesterday and pick up a febreeze noticable stater kit and the Pantene styling product for .50 cents. If you use the P&G E coupons and the other from the paper, you just pay tax.

    • Anne Marie

I was just at the Kroger in Canton, GA- exit 14 off 575 and the Kroger value 10lb bags of potatoes are .99, I had to ask one of the stockers if that was right. He said they got 6 more containers than they asked for and were trying to get rid of them. I’ve got my potatoes for Thanksgiving!

    • Ok, so I caved and went b/c I had a couple OYNO’s to use up. Ended up spending $35 but saved over $50. I did the Buy 10, Get $5 frozen deal on Steamers, Edward Pie Singles, Freschetta, Mrs. Pauls Fish and Healthy Choice. The spareribs were also a GREAT deal, can’t beat $5 for a full rack.

My Kroger also had a deal to buy 3 12-packs of Coke products for $12, get 2 FREE boxes of Cheezits (usually $2.50/box). AND, they let me use my $.75/1 Cheezit coupons too!

    • Aubrey

I’m wondering if you have to buy items in the mega-event in groups of ten. That is, if I buy ten to get the discount, do I have to buy ten more to get another discount, or is anything above the first ten discounted? Hope that makes sense. Thanks!

      • Yes, you must buy 10 participating items (any combo of 10 items) to get the discount each time. If you buy only 12, for example, 10 items will qualify for the $.50 discount, but the other 2 won’t.

        • Aubrey

          Thanks!

    • Megan

I would like to vent for a moment so that hopefully I will sleep tonight and not stew over today’s events at Kroger. I spent over an hour making my list and clipping my coupons. I drive to Kroger which is not at all close to my home, but I go there when they have good deals and know that I can double coupons. I grab what I want and place it in the basket. I get 9 of the Mega Event freezer items and the 10th one I get is the Tyson Anytizers b/c my son likes to eat those. I swear it had a blue mega event tag in front of it that said $4.99 and I had a $1 off coupon as well. Then, I go over to the refrigerator to get the pillsbury deal. They have the tags hanging there confirming the receipt of $2 off next order if 4 is purchased today so I get 2 crescent rolls and 2 sweet rolls and have my paper coupons as well as ecoupons. I get to the checkout and unload my cart and then turn around to hand the cashier my recyclable bags only to see that flash bagger has already bagged EVERYTHING in plastic. I did not feel it worth making him redo it all so I just let it go. Then, she tells me my total after coupons, which miraculously all of them went through without problem, and it seems high, but I think well maybe I just got a little more than I thought. As I’m driving home, I get the receipt out and do not see $5 taken off at the end and also see that the Anytizers were priced at $9.65. WHAT IN THE WORLD?! And, then it hit me that the cashier never gave me a $2 off next order ticket. I get home and double check it all and call the Kroger to explain and see if I can return it and grab another Tyson that is eligible and still receive $5. They said yes. So, I eat dinner and decide to make the 20 minute drive back to Kroger kinda late, but when I go to pack up the car with my crescent rolls and Anytizers, there are only 3 crescent rolls in the refrigerator! I scour the car, thinking the 4th fell out of the bag, I scour the freezer thinking I misplaced it, and I scour the pantry and the floor of the kitchen. I check the receipt and confirm that I paid for four, but apparently the 4th one never made it into my car. At this point, I just cry and give up. I basically lost about $20 in that transaction. So, I am thinking about giving up my 6 month long trek with using coupons. It seems I have ordeals like this whenever I use coupons and I ask myself if it really is worth it. I am wondering if being able to just walk in the store and walk out minutes later with what I want without spending an hour on the front end researching and clipping and without a trip or call to customer service on the latter end returning or asking for money back would make my life easier and less stressful! Please help me here or give me encouragement or advice. Also, the deals and the newspaper inserts in my area(Clarksville, TN) tend to vary greatly than what’s listed on website. Does anyone else struggle with this? Thank you for allowing me to lift a burden off my shoulders!

      • Mindy

Megan, don’t get discouraged. I have some stories like that at Kroger as well, but then I get excited about my next trip and say it will be better. I’m still new to all of this and think it will take me some time to get like the pros. I know it takes me forever looking up my coupons and stuff but I also enjoy it. I like to squeeze that penny! :) I’m a Middle Tn gal so I try to get the Tennessean paper. It’s the biggest one around here that I am aware of. Just put that experience in the past and it will get better! :)

      • Carol

Our Kroger store in Lanett, AL recently placed a sign on the front door stating that they would no longer accept computer printed coupons. They will only honor those from http://www.kroger.com. I wonder if this applies to our store only or if this is a new company policy. Does anyone know?

      • Things happen. People are not perfect. Bad days occur.

One thing about those freezer sections and the Mega Events is that they stash everything close together so it is hard to tell what’s on sale and what’s not. Is this part of the game? Yep. Is it right? Not necessarily. But the store is out for profit, remember. Still, I feel like it goes my way more often than not with coupons. I remember taking a friend to another Mega Event, and I made the case at the that a box of cereal he’d chosen should’ve rung up as a participating item. They gave him the $5 on the spot. Realized later he got the larger size, which wasn’t on sale.

Don’t let these things discourage you. Were I you, I’d have gone back to Kroger and still ret’d the $10 Tyson product for a participating item. The $2 on Pillsbury and the missing item were lesser issues in the grand scheme but you were probably just too frustrated in the moment.

The one thing I’ve learned is that it’s fine to rush the shopping if you must, but CHECK the receipt in store before leaving. Once I started doing that, no more problems, and my Kroger was glad to fix it right there for me.

      • I think anyone who has been couponing for a few months or longer probably has a story like this that can make you want to give up!! Misreading sale signs, having difficult cashiers, forgetting to use certain coupons or not getting a discount or catalina you were expecting! I’ve been couponing hard core for over a year now and I still goof up and make mistakes or have problems like yours on occasion! I definitely suggest trying to get your $$ back since that Tyson cost you a good amount, but also remember that if you mess up and don’t have the time to go back and fix it- you are still saving BIG and it’s ok to make a few mistakes! Don’t sweat the small stuff, try to fix it if you can (checking your reciept as you walk out of the store or when you get to the car is a great way to fix it then), but if you can’t fix it, let it go and remember for next time! :o)

      • Kim

        Meghan,
I am so sorry! I feel your frustration. This same type of thing has happened to me before too, and I’ve thought too that using coupons can sometimes not be worth the effort too. I will say that Kroger has been the cause of ALOT of my frustration. Because of that, I focus on other stores. Do you have a publix? they are awesome and soooo worth the time cutting coupons. Also, if you do have customer service issues, they are so helpful and quick to fix your problem without hassle (unlike Kroger!!)

    • Elisha

Well i had my first bad krger exp last night. When i handed her my coupons she said she woundnt take them!!
I was like WHAT!. She said that since i used ecoupons they didnt take any paper coupons. I stood my ground and the manager did tell her to take them But it was outrageously embaressing then she tried not giving me my catalina coupons And read my receipt out loud saying “you saved more than you spent thats coupon fraud” really loud. I was MAD! And gave me a spiel about how you cant use a paper with an ecoupon. What is the deal with that? I thought you could. The register took them! And i only had a couple e coupons and a big stack of paper coupons . I wasnt going to let it go. But has anyone had trouble like this? With the paper & ecoupons together?

      • Jennifer

No I have never had a problem like that. It must vary Kroger to Kroger. Last night when I shopped, It was really busy and the store manager ended up ringing me up. I only had one ecoupon on my order, but had a paper one for that item as well. He was amazed at how much I saved. My receipt said a saved 72% and obviously I saved more than I spent. Is that coupon fraud? No. Its smart shopping. That cashier was extremely rude to you for accusing you of that and embarrassing you in front of others. It may be their policy to not allow ecoupons and paper coupons together, ,but they don’t need to be rude about it.

        • Elisha

i hate to be embaressed like that so i called the store manager today about it and he said you can use both and i quote “she was just being lazy and difficult” He apologized and told me how they ret reimbursed anyhow for the coupons.

      • Aubrey

I was also discouraged by my Kroger experience this week. What’s up with that? I am so sorry that cashier was so rude to you!
