Do you have a Longhorn Steakhouse in your city?  Guess what they will pay you to eat there!  They are constantly seeking mystery shoppers for lunch and dinner at all their locations.  Melanie (our Bi-Lo deal gal) posted about it a month or so ago, I signed up and completed a mystery shop and this weekend we got our compensation!

Here are the details:
Go here and sign up.  After you register they will email you with available “shops” in your area.  We had our first assignment within 48 hours of registering!  Each household is able to mystery shop for Longhorn’s twice a year (sorry no weekly date nights).  You will get your check within 4 weeks of your shop. (We got our’s in 3 weeks).

You can choose either a lunch or dinner shop, dinner reimbursement is slightly higher.  If you choose lunch you will be reimbursed $25 towards your meal and $10 for filling out the survey.  Dinner is reimbursed at $30 for the meal and $10 for the survey.

Their requirements for our dinner shop were to order at least 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 drink(soda or anything else).  You can split items if you like between guests.  My husband and I shared the appetizer and dessert but each had our own entree.  After reimbursement and including tax and tip we paid $17 for a meal of so much food we had to take home three boxes!

You submit your survey online after shopping, it will take a good 20 minutes but for $40 back that wasn’t to bad to me.

A tip from Melanie: The lunch shops are more sought after so if you don’t care when you go just try for a dinner one.

It won’t accept my last answer to the question regarding how much I typically spend even thought I’ve put it in every way I can think of. Its shows ($$) as a guide but nothing works. Anyone had a problem with this?

Just make sure you are only entering numbers and no symbols.

    • Martha

This sounds great! how long it will take to receive the email to activate your account? I just want to be sure I did everything. Thanks!!

I do mystery shops for Focus on Service all the time. The bad part is that you can only do 2 Longhorn shops a year! Bummer!!! But so worth it!

The mystery shopper site says that will only submit restaurants within 15 miles of my zip code and the Longhorn in our area is about 35-40 miles outside of my zip. So, I guess it won’t be sending me info about this location.

what exactly is a mystery shopper? you really have to go shopping for food items or something?

    • Jenny

You go and eat like any normal customer but when you leave and go home you fill out a survey on your meal and they give you money back!! You are to never tell the store that you are doing this that’s why they call it mystery shopping.

Oh i get it…..That sounds pretty good. Have you tried it yet?

Well, I signed up and requested two different dinner opportunities. Now I hope I get picked for one! Thanks for this info! I couldn’t pass up free dinner at Longhorn’s!

I have been doing this with lots of companies for years and I love it! I have even done expensive hotels that paid for my hotel stay and airfare. I got to to go NYC and Atlanta for free including meals. They have mystery shops for everything – oil changes, grocery stores, mall stores, tax preparation places, banks. Too bad I don’t have a Longhorn near me.

Our Longhorn is also 35 minutes away. Should I even bother signing up?
