CVS Coupon - 20% off entire purchase

I got a new 20% off coupon last night in my email.  I know many folks email not knowing exactly how to use these coupons since they say on them “can’t be used on sale items”.  While that does limit what the coupon is good for, there are still LOTS of items it does work on.  You’ll notice too that when you print your coupon it’s good both this week and a few days into the new ad on Sunday.  So here are two scenario ideas based on when you want to shop.  Both come out to be FREE after coupons and ExtraCare Rewards!

If you aren’t getting CVS emails, head over here to get signed up.  If all of this is greek to you, read up on CVS and watch my getting started video.

A few things on the coupon:

  • You can only use it once.
  • It applies to the price before manufacturer coupons.
  • It can be used with ECB deals that are still full priced items (everything listed below).

My coupons always comes for online only. How do you get the instore one?

      • Abageal

I have the same problem, I used to get in store coupons but that stopped a few months ago would love some help too!

        • uthorns1976

Same here. I don’t get anything any more but my mom does. I think I need to get a new card to replace the old one.

          • Becca

I had to get a new card. Now I get tons of emails with % off etc.

        • The best way is to get a new CVS card and sign up with a new email address. You reset as a new customer that way and will get all the awesome deals and coupons again!

          • twoawilkes

Also found out if they update your email in store you will begin recieving more coupons and they will aslo send you 20% of coupon in your email for updating.

    • Ingrid

I just checked my email and I got a 25% off coupon, valid thru 12/8. Yay!

    • ltbustle

Can I use a 20% coupon AND a $4 off $18 hair color purchase? For instance, buy 2 hair colors equaling 18.99, get 20% off the order, plus still use the $4 coupon even though the 20% brings it under $18? If so, should I hand the cashier the $4 off coupon before I ask her to use the % off coupon?

      • You can use them both. The 20% needs to be used last though.

        • ltbustle

Awesome! Then I can get a great deal next week. Thanks :)

        • swalling29

if im going to CVS tomorrow, do u know if I can combine both of these scenarios together as one transaction or does the 12/8 sale not start til Sunday my CVS closes @ 10 pm not a 24 hr CVS I received a 25% coupon

      • sean

Only issue is how the $4 off $18 rings up. If it rings up as a CVS coupon you will get a 20% discount on the remaining total of $14.99. However, if it rings up as a CVS manufacturers coupon then the 20% discount will apply to the whole balance of $18.99.

    • Sophy

20% coupons can only be used for regular priced items. How come you can use it on sales?

      • savannahm0m

All of the items are regularly priced, with extra care bucks attached. The coupon will work on those.

    • Jen Goodman

Hi, quick ?. My CVS told me that I couldn’t use more than one $ off a total $ purchase (ex. $4 off $12 razors & $2 off $10 toothpaste.) I asked them to show me where it said that in the coupon policy and they couldn’t, but still wouldn’t let me use it. The manager said that the computer wouldn’t accept it and that was that. Can you show me where it says it’s okay so I can print it and show it to them this week? Thanks.

      • Judy Golden

The CVS coupon policy states that you can use multiple $ off coupons in the same transaction. My CVS mgr told me that he couldn’t use more than one $ off coupon but I showed him their coupon policy. He said that they must have changed it. He then scanned my additional $ off coupon and it worked.

        • Jen Goodman

Thanks, Judy & Karen. I am going to print the CVS coupon policy and bring it with me next time.

      • karen

You can use both, but have to meet the requirements of both. So, if one was a $5/15 coupon and another was $2/10 toothpaste, you have to spend a total of $25 with $10 being spent on toothpaste.

    • Carrie C

The 2.00 off Nivea Men Face Care is no longer available :(

      • karen

        bummer

    • Judy Golden

I had a problem with a percent off coupon last week as the machine rejected it as being expired even though the expiration date on the coupon was good for another couple of days. The manager then calculated my discount with the percent off and he even stated that he had given me more than I should have received. I calculated what I thought it should be and he actually shorted me by about $7. I called corporate and they told me that the percent off could not be used on any non-sale item that generated an ECB. She also said that I was not allowed to use it on Ensure nutrition drink even though it was not on sale but the reason she gave me was that it was seasonal. That was crazy. I just gave up with her. I checked some of my prior receipts and the machine calculates the percent off on items that were not on sale but generated ECBs as well as on previous purchases of Ensure. .

      • karen

It should come off items that generate EB, but it is on the after coupon total. Sounds like they really need to get a corporate policy straight for use with these coupons instead of having some stores use their own policy.

    • zjqtcj

Jenny: I am in FL. I used to be able to use % off coupons in CVS before early this year, but all scanners in my local CVS stores gradually dennied to take them, no matter the coupons were from email or in local ads. A couple of store managers used to allow cashiers manually calculated the total discount and take it off. But since certain point of time, they all no longer allowed to do that, even those seemed to be very nice. They said any deals with ECBs were excluded, even with the regular prices. So basically the % off coupons are useless unless you buy stuffs never on sale and no ECBs. I used my 25% to buy a blood pressure meter for my mother-in-law.

      • karen

I live in North central Florida and have not had any problems with them scanning. It seems like maybe an issue with the computers? I would contact corporate. Hope you can figure out a way to use these coupons! Every little bit helps!

    • joysews

The 11/17 RP q in next week’s scenario has already expired.

    • caro

Was the B1g1 schick razors regional ? can’t find it :(

    • Priscella Marie Garza-Gomez

In my personal situation. i have the coupon sent automatically to my card, and the computer will automatically let the cashier know if you have any qualifying purchases. It works for me this way all the time with items that have ecbs, even sometimes on things i didnt even think it would

    • stephanie

all of my coupons that come in my email say can use online only why is this

    • Mel

I have to buy lots of things for my elderly mother, so I wait for those coupons and I work them to the max. Depends or Poise at 20 to 30 percent off is cheaper than any sales price or ECB offer that I have ever found. My point is think about things that you have to buy all the time whether they are on sale or not and then use these amazing CVS coupons to get yourself the sale. The coupons usually say that the maximum savings is $99.00 so you can get those otherwise expensive items that may never have a great sale.

    • Vicki Reid

This week’s scenario did not work for me..

    • Ktom626

Why am I not getting the same coupons from the coupon center (aka the magic coupon machine right?) that you listed above Jenny? The only ones I got Sunday were free Rolaids’s, 50 cents off candy, and 1$ off dial or body wash. No 2$ off 12$ razors etc…

      • Jen

I’ve heard (but don’t know for sure) that you get better coupons on weekdays than on weekends. Try stopping by during the week. Also, I think her list is what some people get. I don’t think anybody gets all of them and some people get slightly different ones. Last time she listed $5 off $35 baby purchase, mine was $5 off $25. Yay for me!

    • Mandi

I have completely stopped getting all CVS emails, coupons, etc. Not even in my junk mail. Anyone have an idea why??

    • Raven

Jenny, can you add the tabs to make this a printable list?
