Is it just me, or are there fewer and fewer coupons for food products? And aren't the values of coupons decreasing?? It seems that they used to be 0.50-1.00 on items and now there are a lot of .25 – .35 coupons.  Or where they used to be for one item, now you need to buy two or more.  I don't think the show Extreme Couponing has helped us at all.  Companies are cutting back.

      • Ari

I know and more coupons are saying not doubling or tripling :(

      • Likeitoldwoody

I agree with you. I was really disappointed with the coupon inserts in todays paper. My redplum had less than 10 coupons in it total.

The show extreme couponing is not helping people that coupon at all!
I went to one of the local walmarts to use some of the coupons i had printed and some from the newspaper. I wanted to buy some of the nexcare bandaids. So I went when I knew the shelves would be stocked or when they would be stocking them. The lady stocking was changing the prices on all the items I had coupons for. It shocked me at first and when I asked why she was changing the prices she replied that it was because they couldn't keep up with the demand for bandaids that people were getting for free. So now the nexcare bandaids are 1.50. The walmarts i go to are trying to fade out internet coupons all together. There is even one that I shop at that evens limits the number of items you can purchase with a newspaper coupon also. I was told by a csm that its because of all the buzz about extreme couponing.
Same with other local stores that i shop at. For example:
The krogers here only lets you triple and dbl one coupon and you can only buy two alike items if you are using any coupons. Our CVS, Walgreens, Rite aid does not take any coupon that is more than the item. Example: if you have an item for .99 and you have a store coupon for .25 and a manufactors coupon for .75 they will not let you use them both anymore; and now they limit how many items they put out on the shelves and how many items a person can purchase at one time; which they have never done before. Our Albertsons only dbls coupons now on certain days and it once again is for only one coupon.

Everywhere I have shopped at and used my coupons have changed their coupon policies to where its almost impossible to use internet coupons and limits all newspaper coupons.  AND when you ask why they are changing everything the show extreme couponing always comes up!!!

Be glad you had a Red Plum insert in your paper. Huntsville Times only had the P&G insert and we got word they are stopping coupon inserts in the rural areas. Is this not discrimination? They charge the same price for a less useful product just because of where we live. Guess I'll just start buying Chattanooga or Gadsden or Birmingham papers.

          • Mollieirene

Hey, I live in Athens. I bought the Huntsville Times on Sunday, yesterday….5 of them. I got all three inserts. SS–RP–P&G.

    • Jenn S

I completely agree that the show Extreme couponing is making it hard for others who aren't buying 50 boxes of cereal each week to save on just 2 boxes of cereal for their families.  I'm all about couponing but when people go overboard it affects the rest of us.  The sales in stores also don't seem to be as worthwhile.  The Extreme Couponers are really ruining the small savings the rest of us need !!!

    • Royale Smith

@ Jenn S: i totally agree with you. Extreme Couponing had me so excited about saving money and when i put all of my time and effort into clipping, it doesnt really make a huge difference at the register.
