You have to sign up for their worklife rewards program or I am assuming a similar program they have for teachers (no costs to sign up).  Once a quarter, if you have a $10 balance (easy to obtain if you are getting 100% rewards for items you purchase), you can get either an Office Depot giftcard mailed to you or an e-certificate emailed to you to use in the store.  I have used my rewards for ink purchases, US Postage stamps, even giftcards to Outback Steakhouse.  Your balance carries from one quarter to the next for up to a year if you don't have $10.  An easy way increase your rewards is to recycle printer ink cartridges, you get $2 for each one, also 10% for ink/paper and 1% for everything else.  HTH

I just went on the myworkliferewards.com website and they had a new policy effective April 21,2011.  Starting July 1, 2011 the Worklife Rewards expire if you have less than $10 per quarter. Also as of January 1, 2012 all Rewards wil be issued electronically. If you haven’t been on in a while it will have you choose user ID, new password and security questions.  On that page there is a place saying you have read the conditions. That is where the new policy is at.

Office depot has a program called star teacher rewards. Same program as the work program, however in August they have giveaways just for teachers. It's usually held the first or second Saturday in august. Signup at the customer service desk. During one week in August and one in Jan. Teacher get 10% off!

Does anybody know how long it usually takes to get the 100% back and is it in a check or gift card?

      • Prsol

Are you talking about the mail in rebate that sometimes they have when you buy a ream of paper? In my case, it has taken exactly 2  months and it comes in the form of a Visa gift card.

      • Teedlesp73

For any purchases July 1,- September 30 you get the rewards between November 15-30. Usually comes as a card you can use at Office Depot (like a gift card), but beginning January 1, 2012 it will be all electronic. I think that means you will be able to print them from the worklife rewards website. If you haven’t logged on in a while to http://www.myworkliferewards.com it will have you put in a user ID, new password, and security questions.  I think after you do that the rewards will start coming electonically then. It talks about it under the Terms and Conditions and shows when you should have rewards by..  Any rewards earned April 1- June 30 shoud be there by August 15- 31

Read “mightymousemom”'s post below.. They explain how you get the 100% rewards…

      • Mamato6chicks

Last year it was in the form of a Visa debit card.

    • SCMom

I know that $1.00 is a nice price for paper (and 25 cents at Staples even better) but I just can't give them my $6.00 or so to hold onto for 2 months just to give back to me.  That's just me though.  OK I feel better now.

      • Mamato6chicks

Staples is pretty quick with getting their rebates out to you.  It goes even faster when you do it online. I've been participating in their rebate program for years and have never had a problem.  Last year I bought all of my copy paper for the year with these sales & rebates.  Believe me it is definitely worth the upfront cost.  Normally you'd pay $5/pkg.  or close to it & never see that $ again.  This way you at least get it back & save so much in the end.  =0)

I turned in 4 ink cartridges and found out that you do not actually get the rewards for them until you SPEND the equivalent in the store.  So if you are due $8 in ink rewards, you must make an $8 purchase first before they will credit you.  I highly dislike their model for the ink recycling program.  Staples gives you the $2 in rewards without having to make an additional purchase…much better!

      • Lashalot

Tell me about it!  I turned in a bunch a cartridges and wondered why I never got any rewards.  Their policy is very misleading and I will definitely patronize staples instead from now on.

        • cecilia

wow all this time i have been throwing away ink cartridges (i have a small printer and go thru blk ink like every 3 weeks) not knowing i can get mony back for it!! awesome thank u for that info…staples it is from now on

      • lovedbyGod2

I had NO idea! Now, I'm mad!!

      • Katkoupon

I turned in 2 ink cartridges earlier this year, when they were running the $5 each promotion. It took forever, but I finally got credit, and I just got my rewards e-mail today, it's a $10 rewards certificate, good for merchandise at Office Depot. So I don't know why yours was different. Did you get this information from an e-mail or store associate. I would double-check on that. Doesn't sound right.

They are giving out coupons too when you purchase items – including two  $10 off a  $30 purchase coupons – one for now and one for later!
