Please explain how Office Max works. Are these actual rebates that we will receive in the mail? Do they have to be spent at Office Max when we get the money back? Thanks.

    • Mandy

can we sign up for the perks online, or in store only?

      • Jenny

you can sign up online, they will give you a number to use right then and then they will mail you a card.

        • Brianna

When I go to sign up online. It give me two options. max perks business & max perks teacher…is there just a regular one somewhere?

          • Brianna

nvm. i see an answer below. thanks.

    • Jamie

Thanks for the tip! I got these yesterday and they are being delivered today! The delivery guy already called me. We don’t have an OfficeMax in Chattanooga so they brought them in from Atlanta.

When you go to OfficeMaxPerks.com, you have to sign up under the “business” button. I called them yesterday and they said they don’t have a separate button for “personal” yet… but the customer service lady said “business” would be fine.

I also had a problem with an error message when I went to pay. The customer service lady said they had a lot of complaints about that recently and don’t know what the problem is. [It was not a problem with my card.] Try with a different card and it works fine, though.

    • Emily

Can you roll the Max Perks?

    • Laura

Kim: The MaxPerks rewards are “deposited” into your online account. You can then print off the rewards and use in-store or on-line. They can be used to purchase anything at OfficeMax except for gift cards. The rewards are good for up to 90 days, except for in Florida where they are good for up to 1 year.

Mandy: You can sign-up on-line or in-store. I signed up on-line for a “business” account and when it asks for a business name I just put “N/A.”

I bought the batteries in December. Do I currently have $12 in credit on my card that I can use now, or is the certificate mailed to me and that is the only way to use it? Oh I hope I can use it now! I need the paper! lol

        • JenGC

Grrr I just signed up to see my account online and they didn’t give me credit for the batteries! I know I bought the right ones and that is why I signed up to the rewards in the first place so the cashier that rang me up knew what I was doing. It shows the purchase but no rewards! I have already opened the batteries or else I would take them back! I am going to talk to customer service.

          • Jess

Did you buy the batteries at Office Max or Staples? I encountered the same thing with Staples and called customer service about it yesterday. The rep told me that the special promotions like the batteries (and other more recent “free” items like the binders from last week) will not show up on your rewards account, but they have been credited. Apparently they account for these items in a different way than the regular Staples rewards. She said they would mail the December rewards at the end of January, so look for your battery rebate then. I hope this helps!

            • JenGC

AAahhhh yes it does. Thanks! Maybe it is something I get back from the battery people. No I bought it at Staples. I wonder if these other deals will be the same thing.

        • Jenny

I think the batteries you are talking about were at Staples?

          • JenGC

DUH!! Man, I need a vacation. Yes, they were at staples NOT office max *sigh* it is all melting together. Thanks for keeping me straight!! :)

    • I am a teacher. I am wondering if you get a bigger discount with business?? is this true??

      • Aaron

No! The teacher one is better. They are virtually the same except with the teacher one you get additional rewards everytime you reach $75 spent. I think the business one is $500! I have the business one and my husband (a teacher) has the teacher one. I’ve already gotten two extra rewards by using his card instead of mine.

        • Mandy

Yes, you are correct. Just signed up for the business acct & I have to spend $500 to earn extra awards. I should have went the other route…Thanks for all of the tips, though :)

        • gabriela

On the other hand, it may be best if you stick with the business account. I just talked to a rep today and they told me that teacher rewards are issued quarterly whereas business rewards are issued monthly. I had a teacher account and asked to switch to a business for that reason.

    • Is it only black sharpies?? that you get the bucks back??

      • Sarah Beth

        Yes, only black sharpies

    • Stacey W

I bought some of the items above, got the confirmation then went and registered for the Teacher MaxPerks (we homeschool). Will I get my credits this way? I hope that was the right order. I’ve never done this before! Thanks!

      • Laura

Stacey: You won’t get the bonus MaxPerks unless they swiped your MaxPerks card when you bought the qualifying items (or if you purchased on-line you can enter your card number). Maybe you can return the items and repurchase using your MaxPerks card number. You can still enter in your receipt at the MaxPerks website and get credit for spending the money (in other words it will go to your $75 spending) but you won’t get the bonus MaxPerks.

        • Stacey W

Thanks! I called and they fixed it. Glad I realized my mistake!

    • kristin

How long is this paper deal good for?

      • Jenny

They normally run these deals for one week so probably through Saturday. Though I noticed today that the envelopes are still running the special but are on back order so you won’t get them for a little while.

    • Shannon

Just an FYI: I personally don’t recommend purchasing any items with “max perks” reward points. I did the “deal” back in October and they still have not given me my points to use. I have even called customer service(at least 5 times) and they still have not done anything about it.

      • If you signed up for the teacher account you will not get your rewards until the 20th of this month. If you did business account you should have already recieved them. If you haven’ t I would call them rather than email.

      • Gina S.

I have been a long time customer with OM. I had the same problem as you in October. I called four times. Nobody even knew what I was talking about. Then I called last week. I talked to someone, who apprenately knew what I was talking about. She said she would manually credit my account. I gave her my order number from my online purchase and she no problem with this. monday, I got an email stating that the rewards have been adding to my account and I will get them next month on my reward statement.
I thought this was a big pain in the butt!! They shouldn’t have screwed up like that, but at least I got my rewards and I got my free stuff. I think it’s still worth it.
Staples lost my order completely and refused to even work with me after 2 weeks of not receiving my order for the batteries. I hate their customer service department.

    • Emily

Can you use these Max Perks points to purchase other items where you receive points?

      • Laura

Yes, can you can purchase anything in the store (or on-line) except for OfficeMax gift cards.

    • lisa

Are these deals + the paper deal only valid online or can you get them in store as well?

      • Laura

You can purchase in store as well
