This week Office Max is offering four free items after Max Perks rewards:

Sharpie Fine Point Stick Pens, 12 ct, $20.49 limit 3
Sharpie Chisel Tip Permanent Markers, 8 pk., $8.29 limit 3
Paper Mate Write Bros. Grip Mechanical Pencils, 12 ct., $5.24 limit 3
Scotch Red Shoe Tape Dispenser $11.99 limit 5

Office Max Perks are open to businesses, teachers, and home schoolers. After you make your purchase, the rewards will post to your account by the 20th day of the following month. You can then use them either in-store on online on your next Office Max purchase.

Many folks use rewards from previous purchases to pay for other free after rewards deals!

I got these yesterday. Just a note, if you are trying to calculate your total to the exact penny in order to get your free shipping or to equal your previous MaxPerks or whatever, when you actually view the chisel Sharpies page, they are 8.99 not 8.29. On the home page it does say they are 8.29, but they are not. And the tape is sold out.

How can they verify if you're a teacher (or home school children )?

      • atlanta coupon queen

They can't. As far as I'm concerned if all moms are teachers – we all teach our little ones :)

        • guest

          Definitely NOT the same thing.

          • Cami White

Teachers and mothers? I would beg to differ…anyone can be a teacher. However a person can be an educator by profession, and that is different than being a parent. If a parent (or primary caregiver) wasn't a teacher, children entering kindergarten would not be developmentally ready to learn or sit in a classroom for 7 hours a day.

I was just trying to find out if they verify (and how they verify) those who are “teachers,” or those who home school their children. For example, do they ask for employee ID cards that show you work at a school?

            • Kcreviews

No, they don't. I just signed up as a teacher and they just wanted name, address, phone number, and name of school (I used the home school name I used to use when kids were younger and I home schooled).

        • blessedinsc

I'm with you on this. God has given parents charge of their children to teach them and nurture them and protect them but definitely to teach them. Parents are teachers whether we're trying to be or not. Now what Office Max defines as a teacher, I don't know….that's another matter.

      Are these deals only online?

      • stacey

i was wondering the same thing. I think they are because they are under the “save Online” heading on the homepage.

      • Kcreviews

I'd like to know this, too. The MPR says you get $10 reward for every $75 you spend. Do you get this in addition to all your money back for your purchases (let's say it adds up to over $75)?

    • Kcreviews

Would it also be a good idea to go through Ebates and get cash back?

      • pjcwomyn

I'd like to know this too…let me know if you find out!

      • Rclay18

        Definitely go through ebates.

        • pjcwomyn

Is there a penalty for this? Will we still get 100% rewards back?

          • Rclay18

You will still get 100% back. There is no penalty to go through ebates.

    • Pcwaterlady

Please everyone read the Maxperks rules. You can not roll over rewards.

      • Rclay18

I've been able to. I've rolled every reward I've gotten.

        • Pcwaterlady

I should correct myself, yes you can if you have qualifying purchases without using rewards. A few months ago, they changed the rules to where you can't just roll them over without making any out of pocket purchases. This just changed a few months ago.

          • Pcwaterlady

Sorry, sorry , sorry, it was the ink cartridge recycling that they are doing that with. I stay confused.LOL

            • pjcwomyn

So, you can roll rewards? Just not rewards gotten from ink cartridge recycling, right?

            • Pcwaterlady

The way I understand it is, when you bring in say 4 cartridges and get $12 rewards, the only way you will get the rewards is if you have qualifying purchases of $12. Maxperks spending does not count towards qualifying purchases. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Read the recycling rules on their website and let me know what you think.

    • Sgechter

Be forwarned, it takes a LONG time to get your rewards money from them. I should be getting close to $50 sometime this month finally, from a purchase I made in the fall.

      • mparfaite

You're probably talking about Office Depot. They take forever. OfficeMax usually does post the following month.
