The competition for best Back to School Deals is getting very heated – which means better deals for all of you!

I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss one of the top deals this week:

Starting today Office Max will be offering select backpacks, totes and messenger bags for FREE after Max Perks Rewards (Limit 2)!  This should give you a chance to save a lot of cash as you head into the school year.  This is good both in store or online.

First you need to sign up for an Office Max Rewards Card and then purchase one of the select backpacks online.  Within 90 days you should receive 100% of the money back on your Max Perks account (not including tax and shipping).

Go through Ebates to get an additional 3% cash back!

    • Alison V.

FREE SHIPPING WHEN SPEND OVER $50!!!  might as well do it online and save a trip to the store!

    • Stella02

Please help. How is this a good savings when you will only get $25 back after $500 in qualified purchases? I understand that 100% of the backpack will apply to the $500 but that will still leave a hefty amount to spend in office supplies at one store. Please advise.

      • Lynnzee

That is what I am trying to figure out?

      • chan

I signed up for the teacher perks. From my understanding the backpack rewards don't apply toward the annual purchase requirement. I think this would also apply to any of the other Max Perks “Bonus” Rewards. I thinks the word “bonus” is what made this make sense to me! HTH!

        • Joyce

But, the teacher accounts will get the 100% back to “roll” into your next order?  Just not the $25 after $500 in purchases?

          • Bob

Yes, you will get a rewards certificate for the amount spent (before tax and shipping).  You can use this certificate toward any future order, including orders where you get 100% rewards back (which will earn you another certificate).

      • Brandyk

the best way to explain this is that it's kind of like CVS, except you don't get an ECB back right away, you get it 3 months later.

      • Ashley

i use my max perks mostly on printer ink and paper…if you print alot of coupons that comes in handy

      • Janice

With the MaxPerks, you get a credit that will show up on your account page to use on another order (it does take a while for it to show up). So you can “ROLL” your credits the next time they have a MaxPerks offer. Just be sure that you end up paying a little on your own card or you will not get the MaxPerks for the next order. I have been doing this for over a year and it's great! I never try to spend $500 in a year, I just do the MaxPerks offers.

        • Ceeska

Someone said above that you cannot “roll” your credits, so I'd love if we could find out for sure.  I just spend $95 on backpacks, paper and a few other supplies that were all 100% (or nearly) rewards – if I have to spend that all on non-reward items I'll be very disappointed :/

          • Bob

I can verify that you can roll these credits for other 100% reward purchases.  I have been doing so for about a year.  I have gotten around $1000 in supplies and have spent around $150.

            • Bob

and I will be getting another $150 rewards certificate next month to keep rolling them over.

      • stella02

Thank you to everyone who responded. This helps a lot!

    • Rebecca

The paper deal is $7.49 online.  I'm certain I bought the correct kind (even checked the sku #s), but it didn't ring up the right price.  Still a good deal at $0.51 after max perks rewards.

    • Ashley

i have been looking forward to this all week…they don't have as many to choose from online as last year…i live about 25 minutes from closest store so i usually order online…free shipping over $50

    • Alfie090

I got $31.68 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Dell laptop for $95.84 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $53.79 to get. Here is the website we are using to get all this stuff GrabPenny.com

    • Joyce

I am reading all of these comments trying to figure out how the Max Rewards work.  I have done a few of the smaller deals at the stores and have not figured out when and how I get my rewards and how to use them.  Will they be loaded on my card and come off automatically at the register?
I got a backpack and a laptop bag, so I just spent almost $100.  Which is great if I get it all back to use on office supplies, but that is a lot of money. I want to make sure I figure out how to get the rewards and use them.
I also think I have a teacher's account. (homeschoolers)  Do I still qualify for the 100% back?
Thanks in advance for any help on all of this:)

      • Holly

I have the teacher's MaxRewards card as a homeschooler too.  Last year, I purchased the box of printer paper for $40 (or whatever) in August and at the end of the next quarter (which I think was January), I was credited for the full $40 plus a percentage of my other purchases.  I had to log onto my Max Rewards account and print off the rewards cards.  The store used it like cash.  It was great!  They also give a reward for inkjet cartridges.

I just placed my order for a backpack and a box of manila folders – my total was about $55.  My rewards from quarter 1, 2011 were $54.76, which I applied to this order.  I ended up paying $5 in tax for both items.  And since my order was over $50, I got free delivery too.  For this homeschooling mom of 3 small boys and one on the way, this is a deal and a half!!  :)

      • Rclay18

You can also use your rewards on gift cards(except Office Max gift cards). I did this at Christmas time last year and got Lowes, Bass Pro Shop, and Justice cards with my reward.

        • Kelleyharold

I did that, too.  I had been saving up my rewards to buy office furniture but our office area wasn't completely ready when they were going to expire.  I just went Christmas shopping with them.  Now, anytime I have rewards that are near their expiration I will pick up a restaurant gift card.  It makes for a nice gift for someone special or a cheaper dinner out with the family.

According to the website, here is the timeline:  Bonus Rewards on backpacks, messengers and totes for MaxPerks Rewards
for Teacher members will be available in October, 2011. All other Bonus
Rewards for remaining offers, along with any other rewards a Member may
have earned during the same period, will be issued in the next
statement cycle in the form of a Reward Card redeemable toward future
purchases at OfficeMax. Reward Cards expire 90 days from date of
issuance, except in Florida where they expire one (1) year from date of
        issuance.

I went to my Office Max in Garner, NC and was excited about this deal.  When I got there they did not have many backpacks to choose from. I have to girls who both want fun colorful backpacks and Office Max had none.  I am hoping Staples is going to do this soon because they have a much better selection and you only have to wait 30 days to get the rewards back.

    • Cjmilburn06

OK, I have a maxperks teacher account, but I have not used it until this last week. Can someone explain how the 100% back works. Is it $25 to spend after $500 of purchases or is the amount you have to spend equal to what you got back: Example: If I spent $7.49 on paper and got back $6.49 in maxperks, would I have $6.49 to use or just that many point to save and add up? I am so confused.

    • Bradyfigueroa

Just a reminder to always check that your rewards amount  is correct.  I just went to do this deal online and realized tha tthe last reward they issued me was only for one of the items I purchased last time….and not the total order.  Everything I ordered was 100 % back in rewards so I have called.  I hope the deal is still in play by the time I get the credit (if I get the credit).

      • Tresswatts

But you cannot use rewards to pay for items that earn rewards and still earn rewards. In other words, if you have rewards and pay for these packpacks with rewards, you don't earn rewards back. You will get credit towards the $500 limit you want to hit to earn the $25, but not the 100% rewards back on the backpacks.

        • Jj

          not true

        • Bob

All three sentences are wrong.  You can use rewards to pay for items that earn rewards and still earn bonus rewards.  You do earn rewards back.  You will not get credit towards the $500 limit to ean the $25, but you will get the 100% bonus reward.

    • Kelleyharold

Just ordered mine!  They also have other supplies 100% back in Perks.  I always get them because even if I can't or won't use them personally, someone will!  My church and my kids' school are glad to see me coming in with my OfficeMax purchases for which I only paid the sales tax.  Kudos to Office Max for doing these promotions.

    • Deanna

Wondering if anyone else has received the credit in their max perks account yet?  The purchase just posted in my maxperks account almost 2 weeks after I made it, but the rewards aren't showing yet.  Should the reward show as pending already or should I be patient and wait? Or should I call them?

      • Ceeska

read somewhere that we'd see rewards around October.  Usually several months before getting rewards in my experience (I've done these before).

        • Deanna

Thanks Ceeska.  I'll be patient.  I'm not letting them use the bag until I see the rewards credit.  If it doesn't get credited, it's going back, lol.  Let's hope it's soon! haha!

          • Deanna

Credits are on my account today! yay! thanks for the help & glad I was patient! :)
