Piggly Wiggly Double Coupon Policy

I’ve had lots of emails and Facebook notes today that Piggly Wiggly updated their coupon policy and are now doubling up to 99¢! I know for many of you this will be the only store that doubles that high and I’m sure you will find some good deals.

While I think we should all get excited about stores improving their coupon policies, there are a few things to note about the Pig specifically. This change is ONLY for the Carolina Company which includes South Carolina and Coastal Georgia stores.

In general Piggly Wiggly ads are very regional, and are mostly house brands which makes it difficult for me to provide a list of coupon deals we could all use here on Southern Savers.

You can always use the tips & tricks you’ve learned here to analyze your local ad/store and score some nice deals!

Piggly Wiggly Double Coupon Policy

  • We double up to 10 coupons per customer/household per day with The Pig Card; all other coupons presented will redeem at face value.
  • Orders may not be separated to allow 10-coupon limit to be exceeded.
  • We double Manufacturer coupons up to a face value of $0.99; the total value may not exceed $1.98 or the entire retail value of the item, whichever is less.
  • Coupons will only be doubled on a maximum of 4 “like” items, which includes different flavors/varieties.
  • Double coupon redemption applies only to Manufacturer coupons.

Hopefully this gives some of you another way to save on groceries!

Thanks for this! I have been wanting to find a way to help my sister save on her groceries, lives an hour away from me, and this is the only store available for her. Now I can help her get started, thanks!

This will be great for the times when they run their promotion of earn 1 greenbax with every coupon you use .. then you can use your greenbax toward the purchase of giftcards.

      • Meredith

from what I was told, this coupon policy is permanent and as of now, is replacing the 5 for 5 (5 coupons for 5 gbx).

    • asmith

We shop commercially locally at our Pig and they don’t take internet coupons, don’t double, don’t have a card or catalinas! We spend (unfortunatly) over $2000. each month…we have started shopping elsewhere when we could stock on coupon bargains but in a small town, we don’t have many other options. :(

I contacted PW Corporate after I was told that they did not accept internet coupons. They sent me a copy of their policy and assured me that they do take internet coupons.

Will you (or any other blogger) be doing matchups with the weekly ad?

      • I really can’t, and many that have tried stop after a few weeks.  Every store ad is different and every region is VERY different, so making a list just causes too much frustration because it would rarely be what you would find in your local store.  The other issue is, looking at their weekly ad this week you’ll only see 6-8 items that are name brand and have coupons that match to them.  They mostly advertise meat and housebrands, so not much to work with.

        • Guest

I hear you! I am in reasonable driving distance of 3 Pigs and all 3 have different ads!
The good one from today though is that all 3 have country ribs on sale for BOGO and so w/ my KC Masterpiece q and the buy a bottle of bbq sauce and get $2 off ribs I got 3.5 lbs of ribs for less than $3.50 so I was good w/ paying $1.19 for bbq sauce (after doubled .50 q) even though I usually get my bbq sauce for free.

        • Ah, okay. Well, thanks for the heads up anyway- it’s definitely a good savings for people who normally shop Pig and use coupons anyway, just to have them double at all!

    • Guest

Sighing, I am a long time couponer–since 1978–and honestly find it difficult to coupon at PW. I was SO excited when they started doing “1 book of Greebax for every coupon spent” because books of Greenbax are worth $1.50 each. The trouble I had was that they seldom had the brands I had coupons for. There are a few items that are regularly such a great deal at my PW that I will go in there anyway but it isn’t really all that “coupon useful”

even with this updated policy for PW it is still worth it in the end for me to drive 45 mins the opposite direction for kroger, publix , bilo and food lion

    • My Pig doubles up to $.50, and we don’t have a card :)

I am soooo excited!  I called our PW in Beaufort and they will double up to $.98.  Yay :-)

      • Crystalgoodwin3

        You must mean Beaufort, SC.’=
Because the one in Beaufort, NC is not.
They are also not very coupon friendly.
I went in there awhile back. They had pancake mix on sale for 89 cent and I had coupons from the Sunday paper for $1. They won’t take the coupons. I asked for the manager and he won’t take them either.
I was able to use them the same day at Lowes Foods. They were running the same deal and they even gave me the overage.

    • WOW. In the general coupon policy it says “We accept 2 coupons on Buy One Get One Free offers with the purchase of 2 of the corresponding items.” I thought that would be considered “cheating.”

      • Anonymous

That is the same as Bi-Lo, Publix, Kroger, and most stores in SC.

      • Anonymous

i dont think I am understanding you correctly..  why would this be cheating? You are technically buying 2 items, one just happens to be 0 cents.     they are both rung up and displayed on your receipt as purchased items, at least they are at the stores I shop at.

        • Doesn’t the statement mean you can purchase 2 full priced items with 2 B1G1 coupons and get them both free? I understand that if it’s a B1G1 sale and you have a B1G1 coupon you get both free, but I didn’t think you could use 2 of those coupons like that.

          • Val

To me, the statement is saying that when the store “offers” a b1g1 free promotion they will accept a coupon on each item. Not that they will accept 2 b1g1 free coupons on 2 items.

            • OK maybe that’s what it means. But why does it say “we accept 2 coupons”? That’s what’s throwing me off.

      • Jarrod

At grocery stores, generally BOGO means the item is just 1/2 off for each item. So when you buy 2, you pay for both still, just 1/2 off each one; therefore you should definitely still be able to use coupons on top of the BOGO deal. The pharmacy stores, for the most part, are the only ones that you actually buy 1 of something and get the other ACTUALLY free.

    • Nicole2152001

what about piggly wiggly in leland nc,, are they doubling??

    • MommyTo2Monsters

The link that you provided doesn’t show any Pig’s around me…..and there is one right in my town. Hmmmmmm……….are there different ones???

    • Anonymous

still can’t believe it I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prices at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use BidsNéw.com

Does anyone know if the Pig’s in pooler ga/ surrounding stores  are doing this? If noone knows, I will call the store in a bit and post.

      • Yes, all the Savannah area Piggly Wiggly’s are part of this!

        • KATGIRL_SC74

jENNY ARE YOIU GOING TO MATCH THE ADS FOR THEM AS WELL????

    • Anonymous

Unfortunately it is other way around in DFW area. As of 9/14 Kroger will stop double/triple coupons. After Houston we were waiting to happen but it is still a bummer:( I do almost all my shoppings from Kroger.

    • The Pig in Cullman Al has doubled to 99 cents for at least a year now.  I have never had a problem with the cashiers, they are always very helpful.  Didn’t know the 10 limit, if I read it correct.  I am pretty sure I have used more than 10 and they never said anything.  I mostly purchase only things with coupons there but they have a great meat dept, much better than most stores locally.

      • This change is just for Piggly Wiggly stores in East GA and the Carolina’s.  They are actually a different company than the ones run in Alabama.

    • Anonymous

Called Holly Hill, SC store — they confirmed….yea!!!!!

    • Gumeshoe

FYI Piggly Wiggly is a franchise like McDonald’s. They are not owned by a corporation. I have a family member that has worked there for a long time. Pigs w/in 30 miles of each other may not be owned by the same family. The ones in Red Springs and in St. Pauls, NC are currently owned by the same family, where there one in Sanford, NC is another family.

    • Lacats

Yes, I saw it on their store sign today, didn’t hold my breath, though!  When I saw their ad, I know why-most of the specials are meats, produce and store brands!  So, what’s the use?  The store near me stinks to high heaven, I refuse to go in there!

      • Piggly Wiggly is the only grocery store in our town, but I never look at the sales paper because the few times I have everything is so expensive. I was telling my husband about them doubling (he worked there for 5 years as a teenager) and he said “Well it’s just going to be a waste of your coupons because it’s going to be like getting it for regular price somewhere else.” I was almost excited until I realized he was probably right.

      • Monica

Every single Piggly Wiggly that I go into smells like old old old old meat!  The customer service is horrible also!

    • Mady’s Mom

It’s about time.  Piggly Wiggly is the most expensive grocery store in town.  Finally, they are giving customers a break.

    • ponygirl19

It is about time the Pig jumped on board !  The new Publix out towards Gilbert has all but put them out of business !  I have been talking to the folks at IGA and trying to get them to double coupon…. so far…. NO LUCK ! :(

    • Sandra

The Pig is stepping up their game with double coupons & all the B1G1 specials.  I bought 2 pkgs of Springer Mt chicken breast strips(b1g1) last week , 2 2lt. cokes, 2 single rolls of Scott paper towels & with my coupons only paid $2.09 including tax.  I was so proud of myself.  I don’t see many fresh meat coupons & the $3.00 off each pk of chicken was great.

    • Is there any way that I can find out if the Piggly Wiggly that is near me is in the Carolina Company? I’m not sure. The one that is near me is the Glennville, GA Pig. :)

      • Nevermind…I logged onto the carolina pig and searched. The Glennville, GA pig is included. Wasn’t sure since it is 1 hours drive inland, but it was in bold on the front of this weeks circular. SUPER EXCITED!

    • couponqueen

hey the piggly wiggly in cullman alabama has been doing this for a very long time! its is even printed on there ad in the weekly paper every week!

    • Coolkdg

So sad. My Piggly Wiggly was one of the ones that they closed down last year. :(

    • Amanda Leach

I’m going today to try and pick up a few things…Only thing i dont like about PW is they dont put their B1G1 prices in their ad! Frustrating. Trying to hide something? LOL.  The only thing i have on my list for there is the Velveeta Skillets (found 7 more coups after the Bilo sale…they are 3 for $5, at $1.67 a piece and $1 off, ill pay $.67 each…considering they are $2.50, i think, at walmart..) and also the Deer Park water. Not sure if the coups i have are for the same sizes that are b1g1 but we’ll see…ill peruse through the other sales when i get there…

    • Songerhomes

Where are the velveeta coupons ?

    • RobargeKathy3

I took my coupons to PW last week…had a few that were 50 Cents.  They only took 50 cents off-not 99 cents, which other retailers have done.  What is the corporate policy on this?  Anyone know?
